I still remember the early days, when it was told that everyone is expected to make some sort of contribution, that you are a volunteer, not an investor.
open the nem population statistics , there were about 1000 people with accounts registered after the fundraising had started, with a single post, EVEN they (at least most of them) got their share, and they should be thankful that their $5 turned into $1k, because they did nothing. they were last active on the same day they registered here.

I think your missing the point that some of the "Fudsters" are trying to make. If NEM loses the support of investors, its value will plummet which will in turn make your unclaimed stakes venture fund worthless.
To me it pretty much looks like "undecided" on what to do with the unclaimed stakes is bulls**t and from reading the last few pages, the devs are trashing anyones plan but their own.
btw I think the venture fund is a good idea if managed properly, but that dosnt matter as its everyone with a stake in NEM should decide this and not just a few devs

btt unclaimed plummeted from 570 a day or 2 ago to 466 today. must have been a lot of people who followed but were too lazy to redeem early.

pat, is it possible to keep the portal open until its ready for taking in addresses or does it need to be closed while you modify it? it would be fantastic if we can get unclaimed down to 400.

Now seriously, when the AE stakes went close to 50k NXT I asked myself the same question. After thinking, I came to a conclusion that if I sold it, I would have made a small profit. Having 3 BTC isn't that bad, but what will this really change in my life. On the other side, keeping a NEMStake can give me much more gains in the future.

I am willing to take a risk!! If we go to 1000 satoshis in the future, which isn't that much, that would be 10 BTC profit. Indeed, we could go to 5000 satoshis but we might also go to a 100 satoshis, you never know.

Keep in mind that the current valuation looking at the NEMstake price is 266 satoshis per 1 NEM.

There was no IPO. The actual definition of an IPO is Initial Public Offering. It is an offering to list equities. There were no equities to sell at all. Because there was no IPO, there was no rights offer.

The offer was to handout free NEM coins and to sell some NEM Coins to defray some costs of operations. This has been in discussion for about 5 months already and also a few more months is now given to claim after close. I believe that is long enough for anyone with interest to claim. Question arises as to who is going to sit around to wait for someone to come along till eternity?

The administrators of these coins are volunteers and they cannot be volunteers forever. They also need to move on with their lives. Do understand that those few dollar contributions that many have given to buy those NEM Coins do not entitle them do demand what is good or what is bad from the volunteers.

Everyone's voice is being heard and that there is also a consensus to say that the leftovers be used for the betterment of NEM.

Finally, we need to understand that volunteers don't own these coins.

So, no one has the ultimate right over these coins and no one is going to be around for the rest of time to look after these coins. Hence the it is generally accepted that these coins be used for the betterment of NEM AND NOT FOR THE DEVS.

I believe NXT has its own set of other problems and we should not even compare NXT with NEM in the first place. In as far as what goes on in NEM, to date since the departure of UP, there was no scandal of any kind that is so detrimental to NEM.
