Beware everyone! A large HYP and TEK holder, Dexpla, had his coin stolen. Which means there are scripts for robbing HYP and TEK around.
Dexpla was on Windows 7. I don't know if it could have been avoided with Linux or Mac (since it was a link in a mail) but remember this: encrypt your wallet. Having multiple addresses won't change a thing, Dexpla had multiples addresses too.

If you have other tips for protecting yourself from stealing, please add them, either here or on the wikia: Protecting your wallet.

Here is a screenshot of the email i received

Sorry to hear that. Couple of days ago I've received e-mail pretending to be blockchain.info, so there are a lot of phishing attempts nowadays.

Remember, be suspicious, never click any link in e-mail !

I just wanted to let people know how my experiment with block sizes is going:

I set up my largest block at 4842 HYP.
It matured after just 9.877 days, giving me interest of 958 HYP.

So basically, after just 1 day over the 8.8 days maturity needed, my block had staked.

I was sailing close to the wind on this one, and keep in mind I have my wallet open 24/7, so there was much more chance of staking before hitting the 1k barrier.

Good numbers!  So I think this means that if/when diff goes up a bit more, this is going to hit the max. So the mid-upper 4k's are a bit of a gamble.

Gamble - definitely.
I wanted to push the limits though to see where I could get to and still be within the 1k limit.
It can be a little frustrating constantly looking to see if your coins have staked, so by trying larger blocks, they more or less stake when I'd expect them to Smiley

On another note, I was surprised to not see the price hit after the theft yesterday - I had images of the market being pushed down to around 700 SAT if all 350K were dumped out for BTC - but it didn't happen. Smiley

I've just had a look at the rewards over the last few days, and was surprised on the average stake reward figures:

last 24 hours - 266 HYP per block
last 7 days - 225 HYP per block
last 30 days - 183 HYP per block

From that, I would assume that people have started to increase their average block sizes, OR they're not opening their wallets as often as me (keeping your wallet open helps to increase network security).

My average reward is around 500-600 HYP per block, and as mentioned above, even with a 4.8k block I still didn't hit the 1k ceiling....

As only 960 stakes can be rewarded each day, realistically, is it better that people's blocks stay at a lower amount (so less HYP are introduced into the network, therefore less dilution), or do people believe the more HYP which are rewarded each day means more HYP can be sold, and therefore spread the adoption of HYP among the alt-community?

Ignore me if I'm just babbling... it's still early here!

I have a lot of small blocks. Some 1600 blocks are now starting to stake after something like 20 days. I'm using coin control to create blocks containing 3000 coins these days.
The interest doesn't change with the bigger blocks isn't it?

No, it doesn't change, BUT the block that you're hoping to stake is essentially trapped until it actually stakes - I mean, you don't want to loose 3-400 HYP just to make it into a larger block.
Really, anyone who's selling on exchanges should only really be selling the blocks which have freshly minted, otherwise, personally, I find the loss of interest after 24 hours or so too much to loose!

ALL blocks should stake after some 9 days, regardless size.
Interest is the same also regardless of stack size.

Better to wait until stack has staked, currently I am increasing my stacks from 1600 to 1900

I always wait for the coins to stake. After that, when I have a lot of different blocks, I use coincontrol to put the coins together in new blocks.
I don't like loosing stake either  Grin
