Awesome, thanks. How was it calculated in layman terms (that code made no sense to me Grin) before hand? yeah, it's saying estimated staking time is now 8-12 hours compared to 2-5 days or something..... And now is the time first time I think I'm going to hit the 1k subsidy block Tongue max generation is becoming an ever current problem haha

It means that
weight = (min(block age, 30 days) - 8 hours) * block amount

But from the start of Truckcoin, and therefore HyperStake, something in the hashing calculations called the stake modifier has been set to allow staking no sooner than 8.8 days.  So before the change, instead of 8 hours it was using 8.8 days for the calculation.

What this means is that weight actually starts accumulating at 8 hours, but that weight is meaningless until 8.8 days. In the coin control I think it is best to leave it at 0 until 8.8 days so that people don't get confused.

I hope that all makes at least a little bit of sense.

It does, thanks! So staking time didn't shorten/lengthen with the new wallet update, numbers just changed?

Fixing this could be something to consider for the BigHardFork project (putting everything that we want to hardfork in one single release, to minimise trauma on services).

Nope nothing changed internally, the GUI numbers were just made accurate to what is actually going on behind the scenes.

"more popular"? Still isn't in top 100 of CMC... It's at number 189 right now. So yeah interesting coin, but I like HYP and the community Smiley

1. High-PoS seems to be the new altcoin narrative, after fastPoW/PoS and anon.
2. BALLS is new and what is new gets pumped. I remember this when Monero landed on Poloniex and the same for HyperStake. What matters is what they will do after that - this will be the real test of the coin. Remember almost every week a coin steals the #1 position to Monero.

But in the short term, you can probably ride the pump - just be sure to only ride it by selling freshly staked HYP, to minimise the loss.

Thanks for the new version and the explanations.
One thing that caught my eye - possibly as a side-effect of the updated weight calculation:
Before maturing, the estimation of days to stake is about 10 times higher than immediately after maturing.
I have a 1370 Hyp block of 9 days that is expected to stake in 2.4 days,
the next younger block is 1380 Hyp and 8.4 days old (essentially the next staked block of identical size input originally)
and it is estimated to stake in 21 days....

Anybody else having issues with Staking?
Almost half my wallet (9 inputs, most around 1500 in size) is mature, one input is now 28 days old but since 2.5 days nothing has staked.
The wallet is telling me every day that it should take only a few hours until the next stake can be expected, but it has been some time.
I don't see a crazy diff - only 1.5 which I seem to remember is rather stable now. Don't know why it is not staking other than no luck.

Hey devs / proficient ppl out there:

Just wanted to share this here instead on the hyperloan feed.

Yesterday i was showing HYP to a customer/friend at the store. He got interested when saw the HYP rains in IRC, the 750% stake, etc... Usual "selling points" until you get the coin and realize that a big part of that 750 is meant to be spent on others to spread the goodness and awareness. Onto the matter:

"Its hard to set up?"
"Oh no, let me show you. You go here, you download this and..."
Stuck.
As when i installed my wallet, the wallet didnt sync. I had to go to console, addnode, search on the block explorer for IPs, syncro, etc. I tried turn off and re-open, ofc.

By that time, he lost interest. I know, small attention span, but he is not veteran in crypto, so his best feature until today is to download blockchain app and using it.

What i mean is that we need to close that problem asap. The critical mass adopters are easygoing people. And nowadays if something doesnt work at once on your cellphone/ipad/PC, you delete it insta.

I will try again tomorrow as he is coming back :-) I will tease with some HYP so eventually he will download it . muhahaha xDD

This space is for lease, apparently.

What you experiencing is the effect of anti inflation measures kicking in.

-high diff, more time it takes to stake.
-randomness, decrease change of staking, think lottery here, more stacks=tickets greater change of winning.
-max reward of 1000 HYP.
-max blocks per day that can be minted by network, 1 block per minute.
-max coin age = max weight = more time/difficult to "win" your reward.

All though HYP uses 750% as basic number to calculate interest, once max reward is reached 0% will be calculated.
Every day that you do not stake means loss of interest getting paid, excluding compound interest.
When you have to wait 2x more to have your stack staking, and max reward already reached at 1st day of possible payout, you will effectively get some 350% paid !
In time effective interest will go down even more, don't be surprised a lot more.
Sounds bad right ?
But its good since it brings back effective interest into "normal" ranges and inflation as well.
Very important to have low inflation, low inflation means better price for your HYP.
People who are spreading FUD ( mostly POW hard liners ) about high POS coins ignore that or simply are to stupid to understand.

It already has been addressed to the HYP devs.
After coding some advanced feature its essential in my opinion to focus on improving basic functionality to make HYP wallet easy to use for non tech ppl.
Adding basic functions like update notifications and a bunch of other stuff which are common in other apps we are using every day.
Like an installer, I hate installers but for most ppl its sadly needed.

Hi everyone. Just a few quick messages.

Firstly if you havnt already done so make sure you join the HYP reddit page. I am developing a tip bot currently and plan on doing a weekly giveaway conpetition .

Secondly its really good to see HYP growing by the day. Joining only around 3 weeks a go I've seen HYP grow as a community and as a coin everyday. I've seen the HyperPool, HYP MultiPool and HyperLoan kick in as well as many cool features.

Thirdly its great to see the price moving in a positive direction.

Let's continue this positive attitude and I look forward to seing us grow into a popular coin in the future. Here's to HYP and its awesome devs, awesome ideas and awseome community! Smiley

Gotta love a mine-able PoS coin  Cool

I only have 1TH but it's all pointed at the pool.

Here is an interesting perspective.

For all of those mining on the multipool.

I am now mining on the multipool and have been for a couple of days.

I personally am mining SHA256 and primarily BTC in the past  and bought HYP with my earnings.

When HYP was at 5k+ I was selling more of my stake(never my principal BTC investment in HYP).

At that point I had not reached my original goal for 100K HYP to stake. During that time I did not increase my principal BTC investment in HYP. It set me back a few days on reaching my 100K goal. However, I did take more stake profits at the time.

I have since reached that goal and have a new strategy in place that I believe will help the HYP economy remain stable and at the same time increase my principal investement of BTC to HYP even if HYP is high. If it is high my short term bottom line may decrease because I am obtaining HYP from mining in the multipool at a higher price, but the amount of HYP to stake increases daily(principal BTC investment) no matter what with out human emotion getting involved. I am also able to add additional coins from mining daily  to my blocks as I combine them when they stake to make bigger blocks to stake the next time. Combine that with compounding a portion of the stake and taking profits with a portion equates to helping maintain a healthy HYP economy.
