This would be worth while... places with no traffic won't do magi any good.

Which Windows CPU miner is best to use?  Was gonna setup the free VPS mining but looking at things I think I would prefer to just mine with my own CPU, MUCH higher hashrate.

Depends on your CPU. Some members provided optimized versions for certain cpus. What CPU do you want to use?

Cool. We should be able to get you around 77 Kh/s from that CPU. Get my generic version of minerd.exe (plus the required DLLs) from here:-

This is a beta release for testing and the readme file needs updating. To get the best out of this you have to ignore the advice to start the miner with the number of threads equal to the number of cores you have. Instead, you need to start multiple instances of minerd.exe with a single thread as follows for eight cores:-

start /min /low /affinity 0x7 minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0xb minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0xd minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0xe minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0x70 minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0xb0 minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0xd0 minerd etc --threads 1
start /min /low /affinity 0xe0 minerd etc --threads 1

Hope you followed that. The idea is to force each instance of minerd.exe to use a subset of three cores and spread the load between them. Doing it this way appears to be more efficient than running a single instance of minerd.exe with multiple threads no matter whose version you use. Trust me on this If you didn't quite get that it is probably because I have been drinking. Get back to me if so and I will have another go at explaining it. I might have sobered up a bit by then

Got the miner downloaded and unzipped, but am a bit unsure how to "start multiple instances of minerd.exe" with the lines you gave me. 

I assume part of what you are saying would be to leave out the following from the command line..............

minerd.exe -o stratum+tcp://xmg.suprnova.cc:7127 -u <username> -p <password> -t <number of threads>

Yes... Spexx already maded for you. Just instead "etc" put your pool, user and pass.

I think you have it surrounded there. Yes - use a single batch file to start minerd eight times and specify the number of threads to 1 on each command line or it will default to the number of cores you have. Personally, I split the miners between suprnova pool and noncepool and have a unique worker name/password for each instance of minerd.exe because I found that I could wring the very last bit of extra hashing/efficiency out of it that way - the icing on the cake so to speak. I have a good feeling that you know what I am on about here - well I hope so anyway 'cos I need to lie down now. Let me know how you get on.

... well this is the simple version anyways. I am working on another version which incorporates automatic fail-over in the event of a pool going off the air. It's a mess at the moment and not fit for human consumption
