The above mentioned is a serious problem. In fact it makes mining for small miners a bad choice, as it is lots cheaper to buy than to mine, and the free miners will continue to keep the price down.

Believe you in XMG or not, i know that huge amounts of it are still waiting from start of coin, when rules were different, and its the only reason i do not participating in mining. Dont like coins mimicring as fair. Count it as fud.

Yes it is. I think dev is sleeping now. 04:55hour at his place now.
I still believe in XMG.
That is your opinion loonb. If you've read the thread properly, there is not much of that huge amount left after the swap ratio of 4 -1
In addition, the swap is further postponed to protect XMG and miners.
So I find XMG still the fairest currency

btw Spexx, how about affinity when there is 4 cores but 8 threads? How to assign?
Also how you find this 0x7 0xb.. etc.. I am using bin to hex converter to determine that but i am not getting those..
For example what affinity on your 4 cores is 0x7 ?

Hmmm ... well you can run 8 threads on 4 cores but it is less efficient than running 4 threads and your hashrate would turn out lower in total. If I was going to do it just for shits and giggles then I would simply duplicate the appropriate command line(s).

e.g

start /affinity 0x7 minerd etc --threads 1
start /affinity 0x7 minerd etc --threads 1

will run two threads on the same three cores. You could also do start /affinity 0x7 minerd etc --threads 2 but it is less efficient.

The miner code does in fact detect the condition where you have the number of threads set greater than the number of cores and it applies a cpu affinity to each thread, so if you have 4 cores and start minerd --threads 8 it triggers that section of code at runtime.

The number for cpu affinity is a bitmask expressed in hex, so cpu0 is 1, cpu1 is 2, cpu2 is 4, cpu3 is 8, cpu4 is 16, cpu5 is 32, cpu6 is 64 and cpu7 is 128.

Thus,        affinity 0x7 (hex 7, decimal 7) is bitmask 1 + 2 + 4 which is cpu0, cpu1 and cpu2.
Similarly,  affinity 0xb (hex b, decimal 11) is bitmask 1 + 2 + 8 which is cpu0, cpu1 and cpu3.
Similarly,  affinity 0xd (hex d, decimal 13) is bitmask 1 + 4 + 8 which is cpu0, cpu2 and cpu3.
Similarly,  affinity 0xe (hex e, decimal 14) is bitmask 2 + 4 + 8 which is cpu1, cpu2 and cpu3.
Similarly,  affinity 0x70 (hex 70, decimal 112) is bitmask 16 + 32 + 64 which is cpu4, cpu5 and cpu6.
Similarly,  affinity 0xb0 (hex b0, decimal 176 is bitmask 16 + 32 + 128 which is cpu4, cpu5 and cpu7.
Similarly,  affinity 0xd0 (hex d0, decimal 208) is bitmask 16 + 64 + 128 which is cpu4, cpu6 and cpu7.
Similarly,  affinity 0xe0 (hex e0, decimal 224) is bitmask 32 + 64 + 128 which is cpu5, cpu6 and cpu7.

I must admit that it took me a while to get my head around that and I was sober at the time too Cheesy

Don't get me wrong, I am a XMG supporter and have been buying a lot and mining a little,
but on the richlist the swap wallet still has 1,165,995.0 XMG = 70.75 % of all coins. How do you mean there is not much of that huge amount left?

How many coins have been swapped the last 3 days? That could also be the reason for the price drop; swappers selling off their new XMG rightaway.

Any ports for mining behind firewall? 8080 doesn't work for suprnova. I really need a setup for proxy as I can not mine behind this crazy firewall Sad
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

There are still way more coins coming in than being traded, last 4 days yielded 108k plus some from the coinswap, it is bound to go down - either sell now and buy back later or wait it out.

Once PoW is done the block reward will be set to 15 XPM (in theory more than now but 4 days avg was 80) which results in 7200 per day and 216k per month, that's when a price will be found if the coin is still interesting.

Right, then only 60,000 XMG have been distributed as swap uptil now. That means 1,165,995.0 XMG are still waiting to be swapped. Thats is a HUGE amount and will not be very supportive with regards to any upwards price movements. Add tot that the miners that are dumping, we got ourselves a situation.

As you may have read the developer is doing anything to protect XMG and miners. The miners have to do the same. We should not forget that XMG has not even launched a month ago. Price will continue to fluctuate as Sy said.
More and more good news is coming regarding the marketing and promotions.
BTC makes leaps upwards and downwards. It is just part of this world.
We just have to wait and see what happens.

Strange to see miners(are they?) sell XMG at bottom prices of even 2100sat. Seen the time and energy it takes to mine a XMG, they must be selling at a loss.
Anybody got a clue?

Many pools allow to set the wallet address of an exchange instead of your local wallet (i.e. Cryptsy autosell). Probably one reason why selling so low.

Joe, one idea could be to buy all this cheap positions, manually or probably with a bot. Don't know if you have some funds left for this (call it a campaign "Proof of value" or something like this), before daytraders make cash with these cheap coins.

The point is, everyone (me included) is mining for the wrong reasons nowadays, we don't mine anymore for idealistic reasons or to strengthen a network, if the numbers don't add up we stop mining - and that's the main flaw.

In the beginning BTC was mined for fun, there was no real money in it, people just used their spare time, others did folding for example, they just liked the idea...

So what i am trying to say, it should basicly be unimportant what the current price is, if you think this is nice - keep one miner instance running and just ignore the market - you will accumulate enough over time to make it worth your while IF this plays out - and that's the whole story, if you don't think the coin is nice and interesting you just shouldn't mine it imho ^^

Good words Sy.
I stand by XMG. I have confidence in the developer and the community. XMG has only just begun. Great things will come. In my eyes it is still a unique currency.
