Hey Folks,

We now have a working paper wallet generator. I've used the source from walletgenerator.net and modified their code
to work with magi. Now we have the ability to cold store our coins or the ability to give away an offline wallet with some magicoins on it to a friend.

The wallet has been tested by my and joelao95, we both have used the generator to get an public and privet key, sent a small amount of xmg to that address. Then after the coins where sent we imported the private key and then received our amount of xmg sent to that address.

Please be sure to test it before you use it, send a small amount of xmg to a generated address and the import the private key.

How to import the private key to your wallet

Open help and choose, in debug go to the tab Console and type importprivkey <Your newly generated private key>

The response should look like this if successful

In the image above I use a working key that has been generated with this tool just for this example.

If you get any other response for ex. Invalid private key (code -5), this would mean that the generated private key is invalid.

The paper wallet generator has been created to work completely disconnected from internet.

The recommended way to create a wallet that is going to be used as cold storage is to download the zip file, link to zip, to a clean system, disconnect from the internet, generate the an address and then print the wallet so you have both the public and private key.
Do not use print to PDF or take a screenshot and save it on the computer. Keep the printed paper wallet safe, if you loose your private key your coins will be lost and there is no way the get them back.

Url to Magi Paper Wallet Generator http://paperwallet.coinmagi.org/

Please note that nor I (ex33s) or joelao95 can guarantee that the generated keys are 100% correct. All keys generated during the test have been working perfectly. With this is mind, we can not leave any warranty or guarantee that you will get a working pair of keys from the wallet generator.

Many thanks to joelao95 for letting my use one of his subdomain for this wallet.
Also many thanks to guys developing http://walletgenerator.net/ wich is the base for our paper wallet generator.

Happy cold storing your coins! Smiley
http://paperwallet.coinmagi.org/

Just a little bump on this one.
Thanks ex33s, well done!

This is really nice! I like it.
This is fun.
Good job ex33s!

HI,

http://graymines.net/miners/magi/v2/ - new recompiled miners for all shit you have - try haswell for newest Intel CPUs.

http://graymines.net/miners/magi/cpuminer_win64_magi_byMarcusDe-generic.zip - generic core2 version.

Just came here to post the results of trying Spexx's newest minerd build, which was an average 5% increase over your last version (Core2 25/10). I guess I'll have to grab this new one now! Maybe tomorrow, bit short of time now.

Here's my results on some old servers anyway:

MarcusDe generic 25/10   Spexx generic 04/11       CPU type
19.8                                       21.1                    X5570
10.9                                       11.3                    Core i3
16.2                                       17.2                    E5520
21.6                                       22.2                   2 x E5335

Updated with MarcusDe newest generic (none of the special editions perform better on this old hardware).

MarcusDe 04/11   Spexx generic 04/11   CPU type
20.3                          21.1                    X5570
11.2                          11.4                    Core i3
16.5                          17.2                    E5520

It's an laptop-cpu, i'm only getting around 12-13 kh/s on an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU with 4 cores (On a linux system, Gentoo to be precis).

So I wouldn't expect more of that cpu.
Well, considering how much ppl blame AMD I was expecting it to be beaten much harder. My core i3 (1st gen) is only 30% slower than my 450.
How close are you with profitability on the 450?

Windows 32 bit minerd

If you are using 64 bit Windows, just skip to the next post - this is not what you are looking for.

I have been at this one solid for quite a while now. It has had me tearing my hair out Cheesy

Despite building a sooper-dooper customized, tuned to perfection MSYS/Mingw32 compiler especially for it, every minerd I built with it (from two sources https://github.com/noncepool/m7m-cpuminer-v2 and the newer https://github.com/noncepool/m7magi-cpuminer-v2) ran like a sloth. The newer source code actually generated 10 percent slower executable code than the older source in a 32 bit environment, while testing it on the 64 bit machine used for compiling initially gave me a 15 percent increase. You can only imagine my frustration!

I discovered eventually that my original version compiled with a vanilla Cygwin32 compiler runs like a dream. I had thought that it was broken i.e. not working for pool mining, but I made the mistake of testing that functionality on a 64 bit machine - it works just fine from a 32 bit machine (Pentium 4 running Windows XP SP2) and runs far quicker (like 40 percent quicker) than anything I built with the custom compiler. Dang! I have re-issued that software on the usual links. I have also patched my batch file wrappers to work properly on "home" editions of Windows which do not support the "tasklist" command (changed this to use "qprocess" instead) and removed "/affinity" which does not work on XP. The latter modification is only a quick-fix and will be improved to detect the operating system environment and enable/disable "/affinity" as appropriate.

self-extracting .exe (extracts to C:\XMGminer\32bit by default) https://www.dropbox.com/s/z8mjcrxavgnfalu/Spexx-Win32-generic-XMGminerd.exe?dl=0

To estimate the hashrate in Kh/s you can get with this 32 bit minerd go to https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php and find your CPU on the list. Take the Passmark CPU Mark figure for your CPU and divide by 1000, then multiply by 3.6 (yes - that is exactly the same as for the 64 bit minerd). Note: this is only an estimate and laptop/notebook CPUs are somewhat slower, while high-end CPUs will be quicker.

Please report your experiences with this 32 bit minerd (good, bad or indifferent) to this forum thread. I have not stopped development for this 32 bit minerd yet and it might be possible to squeeze a bit more out of the Cygwin32 compiler. Watch this space ...

Happy hashing Cheesy

PS. Oh and incidentally, while I was testing the 32 bit minerd on that old Pentium 4 running at 1.4 Kh/s it mined a block worth 67 XMG after just 10 minutes of runtime. I love this coin.

Do you mean for Windows 64 bit? You can try MarcusDe's minerd http://graymines.net/miners/magi/v2/cpuminer_win64_magi_byMarcusDe-athlonfx-1104.zip or my generic one https://www.dropbox.com/s/o8i726sxnwe2wxa/Spexx-Win64-generic-XMGminerd.zip?dl=0.

Check out links:
MagiMining (I will push guides into this thread, also be sure to ask any questions you may have regarding mining. still updating ..)
MagiDev (development thread, suggest & comment)

Suggest us the "next" work: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=848731.0; will lay out the plan.

Also need some one to confirm stratum for XMG is working if you're able to: https://github.com/magi-project/magi-scrypt; use setup.py, and when embedding it into pool mining, using algo: scrypt (will change later on).

Hi Guys, any guide or steps how to setup the new miner? I'm having a hard time looking for guide. Thanks

If you have a specific problem with setting up the miner, please post here and I will try to help you out if I can. The first question is ... are you trying to set it up in Windows or Linux? Are you trying to set up solo mining with the wallet or mining via a pool? I have to go to work very soon and will not be back for about 12 hours but maybe somebody else can help you in the meantime. If you are trying to set it up under Windows with my miner  package, read the read.me file and run Setup.bat which will guide you through it.

I'm trying to set it up on Windows 7 32bit. Last time before the update it is still working then I saw the changes on xmg.suprnova.cc about the NEW miners and switch to Port 7128 but I don't know how to setup the new one. The previous one is easy to setup than this. Thanks

Aha! - The 32 bit version has been a bit of a mess but I have sorted it out now.

Make sure that you have the latest version from this posting here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9446716#msg9446716.

The full package includes a batch file "wrapper" and a Setup.bat which guides you through the process of setting up, but you may only need the new minerd binaries if you are happy with your current setup. Just over-write the old minerd.exe with the new one and make sure the collection of associated DLL files are included in the same folder as the minerd.

If you already had a batch script to start your miner, then you only have to change the Suprnova port number from 7127 to 7128 in there and use the new binaries. Otherwise you can get the full package, run the Setup.bat, answer a few questions and it will create a batch script for you called Myminer.bat which will run the minerd with the appropriate options for you. Please do read the read.me file included in the package.

Hopefully this will get you up and running. The good news is that I am still working on a faster 32 bit version of the miner and already have one which is 7 percent faster than the one currently on release (and eliminates one DLL file too) but I think that I can make it faster still. The newer version will be made available soon on the same links. Keep coming back to this forum thread for updates. If you are still getting problems, please post here and I will help you.
