This coin will be no different than Sling ....even if you come out with a market it wont be used.

Only difference here is you made it look a bit better with your "HD wallet" lmao

Good job assuming HD has anything to do with looks.

Sling didn't get used because it was a blatant scam.

Holy carp, did he really just say that?!

This gets my vote for quote of the year. It has got to be the dumbest thing that has been said on this forum this month at least.

I have requoted it so that it may live on for all of eternity in teh clouds.

Personally I'd say that, after 9 months of waiting, ffmad's attack on the community for not providing the technical documentation for a tech created by the in-house cryptographer makes the shadow quote of the year: Not to mention that he, a web designer, is now helping to write the docs himself. That's a doozy.

I see you're still invoking CH's name in IRC and reddit still…

Shadow's thread moved some time ago. Here's a link the the original. I recommend reading the first 15 pages.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7910616#msg7910616

TL;DR

The first 11 days. PoW. The fair launch.

The original OP giving details of the mining pool (chickenstrips) and the 20 million POW supply
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7925381#msg7925381

SDCDevs first ever post explaining his choice of scrypt and saying "The source will be available as soon as we launch tomorrow afternoon" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7912522#msg7912522

Some unhappy about scrypt ASICs
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7916958#msg7916958

Two hours after launch chickenstrips goes down (around block 158)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7925580#msg7925580
Here is the chickenstrips address:
http://shadow.blockexplorer.cc/address/SY91LeCzU4TM251pkRD8THHA186f7ZwDU3?display=all

From block 159 to block 3050 this solo-mining monster takes over and mines almost 400,000 in around 48hours, mostly without any competition since no pools are up and running.
http://shadow.blockexplorer.cc/address/SYnHd6uBbbiXitR235TTysjqLRiRDxFbZ8

LongandShorts' first post 5 days after launch
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg8009798#msg8009798

3-4 days pass and more mining pools appear but concerns are raised are ASIC miners and the plan is changed. PoW to be cut short and only 6 million in this phase. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg8106937#msg8106937

The rest is history.

Ffmad didn't attack the community, he attacked you for bitching day in and day out.

You said you were out. How about you honor your own word.

Isn't it funny how one overlooks the shortcomings of those he loves?

And yet one sees more clearly without that fog.

We all wear many masks Tim and this is the last of mine. CH never posted again and all being well after this neither shall I.

ffmad's remarks were not aimed specifically at CH. Anyway the notion anybody besides ryno and TV could prepare these docs, or more specifically CH, is preposterous,

I had never examined the early days of SDC... until now. The links only serve to document the first 11 days and the dramatic change from 20 to 6 million supply, ostensibly resulting from the presence of scrypt ASIC's, which existed at the time of launch. With 90% of coins mined in the first 11 days, combined with the failure of the official mining pool, it is hard to imagine how this can be described as a "fair launch" . The release of shadow chat to coincide with said 11 day PoS wallet release also suggests the code was ready beforehand and released expediently.

Without peer review the best we got is Todd's cryptographer colleague saying the "math looks like Monero" (which really means Bytecoin I guess).

Anyway people will form their own opinions.

Bye.

The math does not belong to Monero/Bytecoin/Cryptonote. The math belongs to traceable ring signatures.

The math does not belong to Monero/Bytecoin/Cryptonote. The math belongs to traceable ring signatures.

Prove it.

I'm no expert but I've played with Bytecoin , Monero and Shadow. Shadowsend tx's look like Crytonote on the chain. They even suffer the same I/O irritations. The use of ring sigs for anon at all is a BCN innovation. That Todd's colleague said what he did makes perfect sense. Why does TV not object?

Nuff market speak.

I'm out.

It isn't just ring signatures, it is a combination of techniques involving a particular construction of ring signature, breaking amounts into equal denominations for mixing, and stealth addresses (including making outputs of a transaction unlinkable with each other) that comprise the CryptoNote application of the math to the practice of cryptocurrency (saberhagen white paper). The same methods with minor variation are used in Shadow. The most recent Shadow uses Adam Back's modified ring sigs (approaches 1/2 size with large mix factors), so it does deviate from CryptoNote there.

Shadow's dual key stealth addys look like CN addys. LOL

Be seeing you.

Dont even bother, you are talking to one of child-harold's (CH) sock puppets if you didnt realise. Probably not, considering its trust rating is still intact.

Funny how all the haters promise they are out for good, but never really seem to go away. I find it even more difficult to understand why someone would waste time with something they thought was worthless?

That was a pretty narrow 'view' of the 'fair launch'   Someone was using scrypt ASICS and taking almost half the blocks before the choice was made to drop supply rapidly.   The total supply was never important anyway as the coin could function on any amount of total coins so it will be 'valued' at whatever its 'worth'.    Its a new world now...  If anyone actually thinks some evil market manipulator from launch days is still hoarding a couple hundred thousand SDC from launch week just to dump them on our 'pump' is crazy.  Its been over a year, no one has that kind of patients.  I am holding my coins, (some from launch and some from trying to buy on dips).  I'm in it to win and I don't really care about the fud, or how long it takes.   It could fizzle to zero tomorrow and I won't care.  I am taking a calculated risk that SDC will turn out to be one of the most important crypto-projects out there and if it does I will be very happy to have spent 1-2 years being a supporter.

very well… one for the road…

smooth knows P3RS3US and may recall he was created after my 2 week BCT ban for advertising my SDC IRC giveaway. He's removed his negative trust rating from my account too.

I just thought Id take a look at the beginning of SDC before I walk away.

Saying it was a "fair launch" is a stretch and it's better to deal with it now than wait till you get further down the rabbit-hole.

The collapse of the only mining pool 60 mins after launch, resulting from a DDOS/misconfigured miners spamming the pool (see thread), does not speak to a fair launch.

At launch (when ASICs for scrypt did already exist)   the Dev explains his use of scrypt by saying: "Scrypt has proven itself time and time again"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7912522#msg7912522

11 days later Dev says "We've given it some thought and decided that we will be cutting PoW to 31000 blocks due to ASICS and multipools hitting ShadowCoin hard." and 20 million is slashed to 6 million. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg8106937#msg8106937

I'm not calling scam or speculating who that solo miner might have been. Neither of those things need to be claimed when asserting that this launch was NOT fair and with the collapse of the official pool 60 mins into launch actually a disaster. Im not sure why a relaunch was not proposed.

Shadow's thread moved some time ago. Here's a link the the original. I recommend reading the first 15 pages.

TL;DR

The first 11 days. PoW. The fair launch.

The original OP giving details of the mining pool (chickenstrips) and the 20 million POW supply
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7925381#msg7925381

SDCDevs first ever post explaining his choice of scrypt and saying "The source will be available as soon as we launch tomorrow afternoon" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7912522#msg7912522

Some unhappy about scrypt ASICs
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7916958#msg7916958

Two hours after launch chickenstrips goes down (around block 158)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg7925580#msg7925580
Here is the chickenstrips address:
http://shadow.blockexplorer.cc/address/SY91LeCzU4TM251pkRD8THHA186f7ZwDU3?display=all

From block 159 to block 3050 this solo-mining monster takes over and mines almost 400,000 in around 48hours, mostly without any competition since no pools are up and running.
http://shadow.blockexplorer.cc/address/SYnHd6uBbbiXitR235TTysjqLRiRDxFbZ8

LongandShorts' first post 5 days after launch
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg8009798#msg8009798

3-4 days pass and more mining pools appear but concerns are raised are ASIC miners and the plan is changed. PoW to be cut short and only 6 million in this phase. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=700087.msg8106937#msg8106937

The rest is history.

I regret things ended this way but I simply cant condone what happened regarding the Zeuner's crytographic peer review. Chasing the market smacks of running before walking. Some might consider the above an attempt at FUD but really it documents the first 11 days of SDC, a time which produced 95% of coins in an chaotic manner.

You will not hear from me or any of my avatars again.

You have my solemn word. Goodbye.

ps might show strength if you dont delete this post and actually respond to the questions it raises.
