HTML cryptobrowser
ShadowCore is an HTML Cryptobrowser and a secure platform through which the cryptocurrency, ShadowCash, can be transferred. One of the significant advantages of ShadowCore is its deep integration with the rest of Shadow’s features as well as offering native TOR support for IP obfuscation.

I didn't realize TOR was native in Core. Anything special we need to do to access .onion sites or is there a Quick Start Guide to using this browsing feature?

I don't think it can access websites natively. To use the native TOR support, I'm fairly certain you just enter the TOR proxy address as a SOCKS proxy in the Options.

Correct.. you enter your TOR Proxy Address into the SOCKS Proxy in Options for GUI or run the daemon with "-proxy=127.0.0.1:9050".
Same as Bitcoin as this functionality comes from there.

This wallet looks amazing.. Shocked

Lots of work being put into the wallet design by crz. If you have any suggestions for a page layout, he's open to them all. We were talking yesterday about ideas for the Receiving tab in the new GUI2.0 that he's creating.

Yeah this wallet is awesome. I love it. props to the designer

You can try "addnode seed.shadowchain.info add" in your console to find more newer nodes.
During a hard-fork as your new wallet will be rejecting the older nodes it can take longer to see more newer nodes. It is normal.

code: You clearly don't understand the difference between an alpha market and a beta market.

Beta includes trade.

This is common sense, I can't even express this with certainty, but hey it's common sense.

Then again the listing and categories will probably work (unofficial)

I'm curious to see how much system resources the distributed market will consume. That's a lot of data, especially with images.

And given the nature of the market it would probably not be a good idea to have a bootstrap of it available to download directly. Users might just have to bite the bullet and let it run.

I expect this to actually be fairly quick, images will not be stored on the blockchain and I suspect loaded on-demand ...
Lots of cool testing in the coming weeks and months no doubt.

@LongAndShort: I would like to say I am surprised but the truth is I am not .. what a shame!

OK, so is the market data going to be on the blockchain, as opposed to distributed messaging like Shadowchat? If so, that would seem to rule out even having the blockchain bootstrap as a download, being it would be then on a server and connected to an individual.

Try ShadowCash, the first coin with instant and decentralized private transactions!

Some of you may remember a month or so back, a few people in the shadow community lost their coins due to a malicious download link on this thread.

I believe i finally found the culprit. I believed it was strange that guppy always reposts the dev update. So i monitored their links.
They didn't change them until some hours ago. Both the windows builds links then changed to what i believe are malicious links.

This is what they looked like.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD FROM THESE LINKS:
http://ge.tt/api/1/files/64yHN4P2/0/blob?download
http://ge.tt/api/1/files/8u9jv3P2/0/blob?download

Please may i remind everyone to reframe from reposting the dev updates in their replies. I noticed no one has for a long time since the last attack except this guppy account on bct.

Im appalled that someone pretending to be a community member for so long has done this but i cant say i'm surprised.
Please, always check the download link thoroughly. Good links will usually look like this:

GOOD LINKS LOOK LIKE THIS FOR NOW
http://shadow.cash/downloads/shadow_1.3.3.3_win32.zip
http://shadow.cash/downloads/shadow_1.3.3.3_win64.zip
http://shadow.cash/downloads/shadow_1.3.3.3_linux32.zip
http://shadow.cash/downloads/shadow_1.3.3.3_linux64.zip

Due diligence:
Try to only download from the official sources like the officially stated websites and sdcoin account, but always double check them then too.
A blue link does not always mean thats where the url is going. Windows users can right click the link and copy it, then paste it somewhere to check its safe.

These "latest" wallet download links are legit as well:

Just keep an eye on the URL.

  • You're safe with http://shadow.cash links
  • Don't trust any link shorteners or file hosting services

Amazing update!

Regarding the upgrade to this HD wallet, what's the procedure?
— Should we first create a new account via Key Management? Or just create a new address as usual and then somehow pair it with the account?

When you first load the new HD wallet it will create a new HD account for you and set it as default ... I.e. any new addresses generated will be from the default HD account (unique to you). However as this is pre-generated and not user friendly to remember I suggest you proceed to create a new account using a mnemonic sentence.

My suggestion for existing users is ...

** ALWAYS BACKUP WALLET.DAT FIRST **

STEP1

1. Save your wallet.dat and rename it.
2. Load the new Shadow 1.3.3.3 client
3. Create a new HD Wallet (Options --> Key Management --> New Key/Account) - give it a "name".
4. Goto Key Management --> Advanced Management and make sure that the new "name" account is showing as "default".
5. Create a new address
6. Send some funds to test (from your old wallet)

So now I would suggest you try a restore of this account to test it!

STEP2
1. Save your wallet.dat and rename it.
2. Load the Shadow Client
3. Goto (Options --> Key Management --> Restore) - complete steps
4. Goto Help --> Debug --> Console and type "scanforalltxns 590000"
5. You should see your test transaction show up.

If all works, you know you have the correct mnemonic and can then go back to your old wallet and send all your funds to the new wallet.
Your new HD wallet is setup and the mnemonic sentence + optional pass-code is all you need to access all new addresses.

After I did;
1. Save your wallet.dat and rename it.
2. Load the new Shadow 1.3.3.3 client
I opened the new wallet. On the left bottom it says; Shadow v1.3.2.4-1, where I expected to see 1.3.3.3
I downloaded the 1.3.3.3. wallet from http://aboutshadow.com/ and extracted it to a new map.

Is this correct or did I do something wrong?

OK, I went thru this process and recovered my SDC...
But it only worked the 2nd time with (a) no password and (b) the BIP44 HD multi-wallet box unchecked.

Since NXT uses a 12 word mnemonic, SDC 24 word and SiaCoin's 29 word are probably overkill...
And it's hard to see why an additional password is necessary... other than to increase the complexity Devs adore and crave.

No question it's professional work, but if you make it more complicated than Bitcoin... people will just use Bitcoin.

Also, after 1000s of changes... the Settings STILL will not save the tx fee...
Which is no small point since you see this sloppy piece of business EVERY single time you send a tx.

code: If you're trying to say that the GUI may need some redefining for the general(ly dumb) public, I completly agree. BIP44 should be hidden in a tab 'Advanced Settings' with text next to it "If you don't know what this is, you probably shouldn't check it!".

mnemonic sentences with a higher entropy increase security, and it should be kept that way. No need to degrade on security, because the others are doing it.

Devs should look into that bug tho.

...

Since NXT uses a 12 word mnemonic, SDC 24 word and SiaCoin's 29 word are probably overkill...
And it's hard to see why an additional password is necessary... other than to increase the complexity Devs adore and crave.

No question it's professional work, but if you make it more complicated than Bitcoin... people will just use Bitcoin...

Shadow users are likely to have secrecy needs the typical Bitcoin user does not. We really need a password that keeps any information in the wallet at all from being viewed, even by someone with physical possession of the machine. It's about more than just protecting your coins.

So interestingly as someone who was not around during the PoW phase of Shadow I though I would look at how things played out.

1. ~20,000,000 Supply
Firstly notice the "~" this means "approximate" .. if you calculate total # of blocks * height the MAX SUPPLY was 19,952,120 (if every block was PoW)

2. Max Height = 50,000 blocks & 8 Hours PoS Min Stake
a. It is quite clear that at block 50,000, PoW would no longer be accepted by the network.
b. It is also quite clear that after 8 hours (>500 block maturity) you can "stake" your coins.

3. Claim that "chickenstrips" was official pool and that no other pools was present
Looking at the thread I see both of these claims as false.
a. "sdcoin" gave at least 2 hours notice before the start of mining
b. chickenstrips was available for pre-reg over 70 minutes before the mining started
c. second pool was available 60 mins after launch
d. third pool was available 85 mins after launch
e. etc etc
f. numerous people post that they were able to solo mine at launch

4. The big bad "solo miner"
I see nothing to suggest that the said address is a "solo miner"... Could it have been a select group of miners? like the Chinese ASIC that everyone wispers about in BCT? Could be who knows.
Can I say with absolute certainty that this address was a "solo miner"? No ... but I can equally not say with certainty if I had not already known that the "chickenstrips" address was a pool because both addresses show the same behaviours.
The suggesting that this was a "solo miner" is just "speculation at best".

5. The effect of 1,2,3 and 4 on the Coin Supply.
Like I said earlier, I was not around during the launch so cannot speak for what the state of the network mining was however what is clear is:
a. July 30th "sdcoin" announces that Max Height is to be reduced from 50,000 to 31,000.
b. At ~30,000 Block Height the Coin Supply was roughly 6.15M
c. Therefore if the mining had lasted the original 50,000 blocks the MAX SUPPLY would have been <10M due to the effects of the hybrid PoW/PoS mining. Infact in the blocks I analysed from the last few days of mining a large % were PoS.
d. Changing the max height requires consensus ... it is a hard fork. The miners/pools voted in favour by upgrading to that version. They were not forced to.

6. Unfair launch
You can make your own decisions about if this was a unfair launch or not; I have stated the facts above without any of the nonsense or other hidden agenda.

All of this info has been taken from the original thread + inspection of the blockchain.

Good leg work sir! Can't wait for the launch of the market too! This quarter is a nice quarter to buy sdc.
