I've been talking it up so much that people in real life are even mentioning it by name these days.
If everyone here did that a lot more people would know about Monero. It is time to expand the community outside of these forums.

Another community project: New version of LightWallet available: v0.2 https://github.com/jwinterm/LightWallet2https://github.com/jwinterm/LightWallet2/releasesNow written in Java using Libgdx library, designed to work with Monero release v0.9.x. To run: - Download binary (jar or exe for windows).
- Put in same directory as simplewallet (and if on windows libeay32.dll, libwinpthread-1.dll, and ssleay32.dll).
- Import wallet or create new wallet following instructions in program (following instructions in program).
- Use default remote node or swith to http://localhost:18081 if running your own bitmonerod.
- Try to let wallet sync before closing for the first time.
You shouldn't be in any danger of losing coins, as you will either import a keys file or seed, or create a completely new wallet and then delete/encrypt the sensitive information. There seems to be a possible issue in counting previous transactions in a wallet file. If your unlocked and locked balance are green in the wallet tab, those are the numbers you should trust, and if they're green it should be OK to send a transaction. It can take quite some time to sync a wallet, especially an old wallet with lots of txs on a crappy computer using a remote node - it might take up to several hours. Please let me know if you have any issues, by posting issues on github, PM here, PM on forum.getmonero.org, here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=903579.0, or here: https://forum.getmonero.org/20/general-discussion/166/lightwallet-a-lightweight-monero-gui-account-managerThanks for checking it out

Strong sell today:
POLONIEX 1D XMRBTC HL 3%x3 [img]https://i.imgur.com/oJ1PYXR.png Thx for the chart. This correction to a 50% retracement seems perfectly normal after the big jump up from the 0.0010s. Alt market is exhausted from the past two days. Never seen a mass pumping like that before. Cryptsy/Bitlocker coins being cleaned across chains is my guess. XT Part Deux, Gavin's latest attack fork, can't be helping either.

I would not sell today. Not XMR anyhow. A bit of ESH6 at 1920, yes. Buy it back cheaper in a few hours.

It seems monero, like for money other altcoins, pump finished. USD price is back to usual range between 0.4-0.5 cents, btc price going down, volume going down as well.

I speculate that most of the people who have been following Monero for a long time (non traders) are watching development much more closely than the price and like what they see in github.

Being on the same exchange with most of their activity, when the XMR vol on Polo picks up above Dash, Dash will begin to struggle.

I like to second this, price is quite irrelevant at the moment. Measured in dollars the price is stable enough to actually use Monero as an anonymous payment network (both these services are awesome btw: XMR.to and ShapeShift.io). Since version 0.9 I actually start to use Monero frequently, for running a node and hosting my own wallet for payments. The quick syncing and low RAM usage is a huge step forward for decentralization. Really looking forward to all the upcoming actively developed features.

The dollar price has not changed much recently, even though that in bitcoin price has risen. That is just because of the bitcoin price has dropped recently.

In theory, you want your currency to be relatively stable against the cost of food and other goods and services.

What matters to most people is that the currency they hold does not decrease in value. The other possible direction of fluctuation typically isn't seen as an issue.
|
Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

In theory, you want your currency to be relatively stable against the cost of food and other goods and services. This applies to a mature stage, not when a "currency" is in its infancy. With a 6M$ market cap, people can hardly buy luxury things without buying a significant portion of the supply.

55k XMR available to borrow and dump. But bids are so solid that would only take us back to 0.0012. Monero's time will come. It is known.

Once ETH releases ring signatures dapp its over. The only chance for monero to survive is to increase adoption by a tenfold. Monero doesn't even have a GUI (not saying that would increase adoption!). Man-child developers.. Look at the blockchain, http://chainradar.com/xmr/blocks , blocks are empty of transactions.. No one is using this shitcoin.. Anyway, I'll keep exchanging xmr for ETH, most likely it won't even exist this time next year.
