I think XMR will go to better prices in the new year. Now we have to pay attention now that the ascent has begun. We waited patiently for a long time. XMR is a very useful project. I think the secret is very important in this market.

Can the regs from this thread suggest which other alt besides XMR is (are) worth looking into?  And by that I mean a coin with good code/tech/devs that I can buy and forget in cold storage.

Thanks.

Y'know LOL I don't really know WHY but I srsly like DigiByte...

There's kinda too much of it, i.e. 10X supply vs BTC/BCH I guess but it's freakin' FAST and this idea of 5 different algos seems cool.

Just it's really underpriced by "gut feel" I suppose.  I dunno.  It's in my top 3 or top 5, I suppose.

The other 4 of top 5 are XMR / BCH / BTC / and... ummm... shit... I dunno... I forget... Doge maybe?  LOL

DGB stole the five algo thing from myriadcoin and added a premine . It's not a workable scheme in the long run imo. Yes, it's better to have five algos that your not the king of than one, but it's still probably less good than simply being king of one algo. Myriad is probably more secure than DGB at this point since they've added auxpow to Sha and scrypt, but still less secure than bitcoin or litecoin.

Been a really long time follower of Monero, was my first and still only privacy coin I still add to when I can. Yes, I've bought others, including even Digibyte now being discussed but all of them purely for speculation simply because I don't hold coins I can't use (yeah I know, it's maybe a dumb thing but if I don't have people I can buy things for with my coin, I don't see the point).

All the recent forks have somewhat shaken some of my confidence, but I take some heart that the old merchant network is still there, and XMR hasn't "died" yet in terms of price and is following the recovery trend like all others.

Are we now all back to reading strange whitepapers of new things we don't understand? Wink

DigiByte premine? First I’ve ever heard of that. Proof?

I also like it just ‘cuz it’s so OLD... its blockchain genesis ‘way back early before all the shit got crazy with ICOs and etc - so many nonsense garbage projects in this whole crypto space.

Their iOS wallet on iPhone is pretty slick too, just basic function as it’s intended to just be a currency. Just money. Simple. But the wallet design is very clean and has always worked great.

Now if only people could actually, y’know, SPEND their DGB in more places then maybe it’d get up off the floor around a penny or less and actually trade in “dollars” like so many other much WORSE projects have easily already achieved...?

That’s why I like it probably really. Feels like maybe the last chance to get a real “currency” coin with potential to recreate bitcoins earliest days... “Roger Ver type” lottery win, where you can get many thousands of coins for very little and wake up one day a few years later sitting on a mountain of buying power.

And if/when that happens the bulk of it will have to be flipped into Monero to protect it (from all manner of thieves, tax men, scams and cons etc etc)  Grin

I remember DGB launch, it was nothing special, just another clone. I give them credit for sticking with it and adding improvements but where did it become an opaque chain?

And when did it's supply go from 21 Million to 21 BILLION! Which makes the premine 10,500,000 which at .016 is equal to 168,000 BTC which is worth $831,600,000 on a coin with a market cap of  138,985,730 USD.

Do you see where this may be a problem?

It actually looks like its soo overpriced as soon as people do the math I just pointed out it should either tank or its all held tight by bag holders and has no distribution and they are just looking to dump on n00bs.

To be fair they didn't steal anything and actually have added digisheild which IIRC is a good piece of code for quick diff adjustments or some such thing and they forked the myriad coin algo in to get away from script IIRC when asics hit??? Not sure never followed it just have known about it since it started and never saw a need.

BTW congrats. Smiley

I just meant they started as a straight clone of myriad with a premine. They did later add the diff retarget algorithm, which is afaik their only unique feature added.

Btw I lost even after epic big dick Nick performance, but still get runner up prize at least.

Oh w0w, I didn't think you could lose. well in the money 2 years straight with auto pick is not too bad. Smiley
PPR sucks. Wink

I must have gotten DGB mixed up with something else, didn't they have this white japanese female looking robot logo at one time? Well anyway its a shitcoin.

Bahh, I hate my memory loss and was pretty certain it started as scrypt as I was thinking of mining it at launch so I did a little search and.

Quote
MultiAlgo

Activated in September 2014 from Myriadcoin source code, this hard fork allowed for multi-algorithm mining. Its purpose was to create a number of different proof of work (PoW) mining methods to accommodate the different types of mining capabilities that exist, such as dedicated ASIC mining, GPU and CPU mining. This allows for a larger number of people to access DigiByte mining pools and therefore it creates a more decentralised blockchain with the coins reaching groups who were unable to mine the coin on its original single-algorithm (Scrypt) fork.[5]

I was correct that is launched as script. It's tough when you can't trust your memory anymore. Sad

Just downloaded Grin's white paper.  I can't believe I'm back to doing this...  Reading a white paper which I don't even get half of.  Lololol.  'Welcome back to 2013' I guess.

Anyway, back to XMR.

GRIN is no good? I’m also interested in this project, but don’t really know what to think of. Is it a competitor for Monero?

Monero will most likely use part of GRIN technology as a sidechain.  GRIN should never reach level of anonymity as Monero have.

Hm. Well.  OK.  I dunno, I never did the math I guess LOL

Monero and Bitcoin really back to basics is all that probably matters.  "Which" Bitcoin will be the "real" one, though... FukkIfIno

Nothing for certain any more in ANY of this until we get outta the winter woods, anyway.

U guys think "that" was the "bottom" a week or so ago?  We've kinda "bounced" off that to almost a "doubling" now (the model portfolio that I have in an app to track hit low point total value about $18K and we've been flirting with it all in the $32-$34K range last couple days).

So IF someone bought in for the first time EVER at exactly that right moment about a week ago, they're today looking at almost their first DOUBLING.

So, UP again resuming from here?

OR we will restart the bleeding after January 1st?

(I'm leaning to that and guessing the REAL "bottom" won't be until late spring or early summer, about another "cut-in-half" from where everything is today.)

But... fuck it's just a guess gut feel and my GUT was clearly WRONG about Digibyte so again FUKKIFINO

Merry Christmas to all, anyway.... hope new year finds everyone happy healthy hodl'ing strong... Wink

Yup.  It was called the Digiman.  Lol.  I think they even had a life size mascot version of it and their devs had it brought it around with them at conferences.  Grin

Hind sight is 20/20 you long shlong mother fucker. Modest much?? Cheesy

But seriously... you think Monero doesn't deserve to be worth more than 3% BTC's price with how much functionality it serves people in real world situations like maintaining fungibility?

Put a fair amount of money into xmr at BTC 0.0122 today, hopefully I can flip it for 5-10 percent btc gain within two weeks.

Of course, you can, now he will grow up on Bitcoin of course! And there is a lot of bitcoin on the market that will grow, but the whole problem with the dollar, I would like to see a profit in dollars!

Why are people talking about digibyte here it's just a shitcoin compared to monero. Between the two i'd pick monero any day as it has proven to be the top privacy coin in the market right now, even ranked higher than dash which is a grand achievement

That's my fault... sorry, my bad.

I'd just mentioned it in passing cuz I'd thought it was actually maybe one of the decent older bitcoin clones having been launched early on and before everything went so stoopid, with all the ICO's and shit last year... but as noted I guess I never really "did the math" on it, either.  So... I dunno. Sorry. LOL

DigiByte IS "fast" though, and their iPhone wallet app is pretty slick. So, yeah, no: shitcoin? Sure. But it might still do something. WhoDaFuk knows?  Fuckin' DASH is clearly a shitcoin too... LOL

Anyway as I said IMHO nothin' fer sure about anything anymore till CryptoWinter passes, & prolly back to basics now is the only safe move.

And "basics" is just Bitcoin and MONERO.
