it's part of the game ... I hit a 20G share when the diff was 40G with a modded S1 board.

Good old time ;-)

Bitcoinwisdom projected a slight drop just before the change, then the massive jump in difficulty....  so the estimated next difficulty is pretty much useless.   Its never right on, but it wasn't even close

Bitcoin Wisdom has been totally off lately. I've moved over to BTC.com, which is much more accurate.

That'll change after the 2x fork...

You think they'll switch over to the 2x chain, or stay on the original one?

Since btc.com is owned by bitmain, and bitmain are the prime movers on 2x, they're making it look on the surface like they're assuming it will become the dominant chain so it stands to reason that they would be referring to that chain. For the record, I think they don't believe it will succeed any more and are just sticking to it to give them yet another chain to mine according to profit vs difficulty like they're doing on shitcoin cash.

That was a nicehash rental block not a Bitcoin block.

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

Yes, I'm sure. Besides the fact that nh is your 1st slot (the one that you mine unless it's down), the "best share" you have is too low to have solved a Bitcoin block anytime in many years now.

If I did the math right, the expected rate to find a block in 1 day is 72.2PH (with today's current difficulty). So, 1PH for 1 day would have a 1:72 chance of finding a block if you only did it for a single day.
Or, as the master says:

The cool part - the price to run 72 PH for a day would be around 14 BTC on Nicehash, meaning that you can get a block (probably) but would lose money on it. Which is the whole point of cloud mining being a questionable venture - why would anyone sell something (hash power) cheaper than they could use it?

While I agree with your conclusion, I feel it only responsible to point out that "rentals" and "cloud mining" are different concepts and implementations (and that cloud mining is, imo, a cancer to the entire crypto space).
