i guess there is one feature everyone would want:
your "best share" added to stats to see how close you have been finding a block
Yes Please! That would greatly help those of us whose miners do not report the best share Smiley

or those that rent miners and have no way of knowing how close they came.

This could be done but would require new code, testing and a pool restart. I'm loathe to touching the pool when everything's stable even if the downtime would be very short.

The pool works.  Don't touch it  Smiley
my vote is for adding this even if it will mean some down time people would be informed
i hate when renting rigs and never know how close i was

Does it really matter how close you were?  There are no bitcoins for second place.  Either you find the block or you don't.

Current difficulty is 40,640,955,017  and if I find a share with difficulty of 40,640,955,016 or 2, it doesn't matter, no block for me.

it does matter, read above.. it really makes pools more reliable
i have no means to know if my rented found a block(unless rig owner tells me i found 40g++ share), it could be mined to non public wallet

Guess I read that a little too quickly.

That would make sense when renting rigs (I don't have any experience with that).

that is the fun part of this, lottery to rent 100++ THs and feel lucky

Hi all,

where is testing.ckpool.org by the way?
Would be great to have one for named purposes.

News updates:

2. In addition, I'm going to give advance warning that I will be taking down the testnet pool in one month's time when the paid subscription for that VPS expires. I can't justify running the pool for free when people happily mine on it and don't donate anything (no I'm not interested in testnet coin donations). So unless someone has a burning need for this service and is happy to donate a few decibitcoins to keep it running, I will shut it down.

For the sake of discussion, would a 1GH or 2GH miner even be able to find a block on ckpool against all the few hundred GH and TH there?

It is not 'against' - there is no competition.
Everyone is simply rolling their own 40,640,955,017 sided dice.
Each time anyone rolls a 40,640,955,017 they win a prize Smiley

Does the miner display Accepted message when it
a) receive the data for computing the hash summ?
or
b) send the hash summ to the server and server accept it?

c) After b, the server tells the miner the share was valid and current.
