I'm in for an extended run with similar odds and buy in if others are as well. My wife would kill me if I gambled 1.25 BTC. It's easier to get it by her if it's in smaller chunks haha...

Any other fools like me out there want to go for round 2 with lower hash rate and longer duration? Maybe 0.25 BTC each x 10. If my math is right that's 1.7PH for over 77 days and 1 in 6 odds.

Lets wait for the hash run we are doing now to finish.

It could last longer or less then 77 days as we would adjust it every difficulty.

I would not want huge coin up front. As that is a lot to ask.

It would be steady. As my uptime is over 95%

I need to figure out a good price point.

I may start a specialty thread under pools as it may not be fair to use this thread.  I would be assured of a small profit on the rentals even if a block is not hit. I also don't want ck to get zero if I make a few bucks.

Although the only place it is fair to mine on if renting the hash would be solo.ckpool.

Have to think it over. Maybe do 10 day rentals inside of each diff adjustment.  Give me some time to figure it out.

Just a thought.

I rather nicehash does not get a cut and me and ck get something.

Have to figure a good way to structure idea.

count me in with some hashpower, i average around 400Th

I am on my alt account

Well ck runs the pool he only collects if a block hits.
Miners only collect if a block hits.

Nicehash  makes risk free coin with every rental.
So if I put up 1.6ph
and chillfactor puts up .4ph

we have a constant 2.0ph mining

If it costs 0.00002000 x 2000 = 0.04 + 3% or  0.0412 daily at nicehash

If 2.0 ph earns

0.00001761 x 2000 = 0.03522

if we charge 0.00002 x 2000 = 0.04

Nicehash gets zero

renters save 0.0012 a day or 8.76 usd

chillfactr
philipma1957 (thats me)
ck

get 0.04-0.03522 = 0.00478 a day profit.  34.90 usd if coins are 7300

lot of work for  43 usd a day

 Need to think about it.

If I had 4ph it could be worth it.

1956jUdYPFwiBSzt9AECdWj3KE4WV7taiM I can't do 1957philma.. for btc address the i are not allowed This is a secondary account for Philipma1957, don't do business with this account deal with philipma1957

I might be interested in throwing my hashpower in depending on the deal. By the end of next week I'll have about 1.3ph.

It looks like there should be enough margin for everyone to be happy.

For instance:

renters pay actual expected (currently about 0.01778 0.01852BTC/day/ph).

Philipma1957 gets 1% of the rental fee for doing all the work, 99% gets paid out to hash providers.

ck already gets paid 1% of reward if a block is hit.

So hash providers effectively get a PPS with only 1% fee for the rental period.

Renters pay 0 fee, only pay 1% to ck when block is hit.

The rental period would just need to be long enough and total hashrate large enough to make it worth it for Philipma1957. Or could adjust the fees up so it is worth it for Philipma1957.

edit: Just realized the BTC/day/ph I calculated above still included a 4% pool fee, actual expected earning without a pool fee would be 0.01852BTC/day/ph at current diff and 0.2BTC transaction fees per block.

Have some dead Bitmain 17 series hashboards or full miners?
I'll buy them ... send me a PM with what you have and I'll make you an offer!

If we can get a small group of people to commit to a long term rental with payments at regular intervals, this could work for everyone. With some luck, it could even be profitable. I would like to participate if possible as a renter.  Grin

It is a question of  proper fee management.

We have almost finished  all 1.251 btc  we put in

we got 1.21  and paid  0.040 btc in fees to nicehash
we did not get any guaranteed rates  worth while...  and almost always paid  a 10% premium on the hash.  Which means the 1.21 we got credit for in rentals was reduced to

  1.21 x .9 =

1.089  out of 1.251  is close to 87.05%  bang for our buck    on this rental . close to a 13% take out on the rental

so if 3 miners can offer 4ph at  a  5% take out it is

better for the players.

4 x 0.01778 = 0.07112 daily  with no fee

0.07112 x 1.05 = 0.074676  with 5% fee

0.07112 x 1.13 = 0.0803656  with 13% fee

so a 10 day is

 0.711200    0%

 0.746760    5%

 0.803656    13%

Let me check numbers better.. it could be feasable

to do a 10 day  4ph rental this way  still   early and needs planning.

almost done 2-3 hours left see below.

http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1MVzxXXtYuvmzGBT2ZiyrxXiEpUJ6Ttr1u

Edit it is over and out.  never did do more then that 1.6t share.

pulled 1.149T  shares in all.

In the case of 87%  1.149t shares

In  the case of  95% 1.254t shares

In the case of 100% 1.320t shares

so  this is costly due  demand jacking up pricing and nicehash fees

Dang. Swing and a miss. Story of my mining career! Is anyone interested in giving it another go? It's clearly a lot of work for Philip so I wouldn't expect him to do it again.

Anyone else we can trust with another 1.25 BTC? Perhaps one of the last 10 with someone else acting as a custodian of the BTC to ensure it's used properly? Don't want to wait another year to go again given the upcoming halving and difficulty increases...

I would be happy to host the next paid round if people are interested I have been mining here for quite some time and am a active community member.

I think it would be an idea if we go forward to multi-sig funds for rentals with 2 members being signing party's this would add some security to the process?

I do think having a community effort at block breaking is a great idea I would also like to continue with the "free" group effort,  I have the spare time to put towards watching rentals  and the pool and am online almost 24/7.

Please feel free to vet me out and check my contributions to the pool and forum, I have also been a keen renter of power on the pool in the hunt for blocks so I understand the rental market's.

Let me know what you guy's think I would be more than happy to oblige.

Thank you for being willing. I'm pretty new to this forum so I don't expect anyone to trust me with that sort of responsibility. That said, I do want to give it another go just as a participant if there is enough demand for another round? As the proposed host, do you want to start a list to see how many sign up? How much should we put in the pot? I'm in for 1/8 to 1/4 BTC.

If people are interested I could make a list if Philip is not available to do another one (I know he's a busy guy with his machines)
I would be happy to control the rentals and we could point it to the same account you were all mining too previously meaning if there were a hit Philip would be the main man to make the payout's.  I would just monitor the rental and post updates as per the previous attempt.

I'll await his reply and that of the other participants.

I'm giving it a shot, again..  Smiley

Got to try at least once a year.

So in addition to my own low power fw Avalon 841 (8 Th/s),
I'm also tossing a 10 Ph/s rental for the next 12 hours.

I'm going to go out on a limb as say one is cracked one before 100 diff. currently sitting at "diff": 61.9,

Sounds like a good plan. What should we shoot for hash rate wise? I personally would like to try to see 10 people put in 0.25 BTC. Assuming we pay 0.02 per PH, that gives us 125 PH for 1 in 6 odds of cracking it. I understand that's a lot to ask so maybe two rounds of .125 x 10 if we don't crack it the first time?

Suggestions  don't collect 10x .250 = 2.5 btc

collect 10 x .1 = 1

or 10 x .125 = 1.25

don't send  all to the renting service.

rent 1/3 then 1/3 then 1/3

many renting services have skipped out.

it took me dec 29 to jan5 to spend the .125

at nice hash.

but I never had more then .45 btc in nicehash's hands.

remember they claimed to have had 4000+ btc stolen in dec 2017

and they stopped paying it back about a month ago.

good luck with this.

Very good advice Philip. I agree 100%. All very smart things to do with this amount of money. Did you agree to be the custodian of any payout if we hit a block as suggested?

I agree with the not sending it all to Nicehash in one go small and often is the key here.

I also agree that we should keep it to the original rental game of or 10 x .125 = 1.25

Would that be OK if you were still the custodian of the block reward phill if we continue to rent to the "fools" address?

I'm more than happy to go ahead with this once we iron out the details.
