It says "share above target" all the time ... why is that?

What says that?

cgminer when trying to mine on ckpool and when it finds something

What are you mining with?
Are you mining solockpool?
upload a snapshot if possible

could be youre on a crapcoin pool or test stratum?

I am mining on GPU with older version. Doesn't matter if it's solo or not.

It finds something, then writes "share above target" and doesn't submit it. No stats are being generated for my hash. On solo, page is just not found, on depool, it always shows on graph that my mining hashrate is 0.

https://i.imgur.com/pLsBd9k.png

BFGMiner shows more information, not only "share above target", but something like this:

Quote
[2019-08-09 14:22:48] GPU 0 found something?
[2019-08-09 14:22:48] OCL NONCE 239674609 found in slot 0
[2019-08-09 14:22:48]  Proof: 00000000bceaad0068f64ee56ac53d143508752e1f9f9f9754ba1c17be9084ca
Target: 0000000000068db8baffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
TrgVal? no (false positive; hash > target)

Hard not to notice (from BFG log) that share indeed is above the target, but why? What am I doing wrong?

PS. Both are in verbose mode.

What am I doing wrong?
I have marked in bold what you are doing wrong. Basically everything. Bitcoin hasn't been mined on GPU for about 7 years.

Ok, but is that a reason? I understand it's not profitable, but still... it does find something, doesn't it?

You are looking at debug saying your GPU found something, but holy shit batman it isn't even remotely close to being a real share so we won't bother submitting it. One in about 10,000 of those useless share will be an actual share.

What could I mine on GPU then?
You are in the wrong place to ask that question, but basically, NOT bitcoin. Seek help in shitcoin forums for what you can mine.

@flasht

When we talk about Bitcoin mining problems when using a GPU card...
- you are wasting your time
- I'm wasting my time
- everybody are wasting their time.

So please just stop, and get a ASIC miner for Bitcoin mining.

Everything that is not a bitcoin is a shitcoin?

close enough
I will link you to my altcoin thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5144362.0
I have been running an altcoin thread for years.

Also if you want a cheap way to mine bitcoin

use a sidehack newpac

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5131245.0

many people point a newpac to  solo.ckpool.org

you have a small chance on every single block to win the entire block.

Note a very very very small chance more then 1,000,000 to one

I'm running an ooooold stick miner running at 5Gh/s.  How long does it take for it to register my address when checking my stats?  (Its been running for about an hour now)
This is what I'm using: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1FWFFjsqqoL6ZUq179dmt7stUgs5jEudwC -p x

Also for calculating my chance at the "lotto", is this still a good formula to use?
(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / Difficulty) * Hashrate)) / 60 / 60 / 24

Using current difficulty of 6,379,265,451,411 (found at https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty) and 5Gh/s hash rate, does this sound right?
(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / 6,379,265,451,411) * 5,000,000,000)) / 60 / 60 / 24 = 63423968.8987

So a 1 in 63,423,969 chance every 20mins?

Thank you both!

I do see my stats now.  I just thought it was odd at first I didn't see anything after an hour.

And thanks for letting me know about the other site not updating.

Does my formula look correct though (except for the difficulty being off?)

(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / 9,985,348,008,059) * 5,000,000,000)) / 60 / 60 / 24 = 99,276,383

1 in 99,276,383 chance every 20 mins?

10 TH/s vs 100 TH/s solo mining.. does it honestly make a difference with this current difficulty? Debating whether I should point all my hashing power to SOLO or only a portion while the rest is in a pool

So in order to find a block, my shares have to match network difficulty? How does luck factor in etc. Thanks!
