I'm running an ooooold stick miner running at 5Gh/s.  How long does it take for it to register my address when checking my stats?  (Its been running for about an hour now)
This is what I'm using: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1FWFFjsqqoL6ZUq179dmt7stUgs5jEudwC -p x

Also for calculating my chance at the "lotto", is this still a good formula to use?
(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / Difficulty) * Hashrate)) / 60 / 60 / 24

Using current difficulty of 6,379,265,451,411 (found at https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty) and 5Gh/s hash rate, does this sound right?
(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / 6,379,265,451,411) * 5,000,000,000)) / 60 / 60 / 24 = 63423968.8987

So a 1 in 63,423,969 chance every 20mins?

you already registers shares

Thank you both!

I do see my stats now.  I just thought it was odd at first I didn't see anything after an hour.

And thanks for letting me know about the other site not updating.

Does my formula look correct though (except for the difficulty being off?)

(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / 9,985,348,008,059) * 5,000,000,000)) / 60 / 60 / 24 = 99,276,383

1 in 99,276,383 chance every 20 mins?

10 TH/s vs 100 TH/s solo mining.. does it honestly make a difference with this current difficulty? Debating whether I should point all my hashing power to SOLO or only a portion while the rest is in a pool

So in order to find a block, my shares have to match network difficulty? How does luck factor in etc. Thanks!

Not your shares, your best share needs to hit the lucky difficulty number which is currently  10,183,488,432,890 - 10.18 T
your accepted shares can be wayyyyyyyyyyyy passed that magic number and you may never have a best share of the magic number.
so thats what makes it luck.

you can be mining for a day and only submit "shares": 20622966027, but your best share is greater then 10,183,488,432,890 - 10.18 T
then you solved it and get the block reward

Oh got it. I always thought that bestshares was the best amount Ive submitted towards a block in all time. Alas, shares dont mean much unless its pointed towards a pool for distribution purposes right? I wish there was a discord server for this forum. Would be great! (quick someone tag @ck!) Cheesy

Hello, currently I have 600 TH / s in the mining pool. Does it make sense for solo mining? How long should it take to hit a block?

That said, seems that every time a miner of that size drops in to join folks in the pool on Kano.is if they stick around for more than a few weeks or months or so - they seem to hit a block for us. Only restriction for Kano's pool is no rentals.

Just sayin' there is a lot to be said for a miner of that size being in a pool vs solo...

realistically  if you do not have 5ph  don't solo.

or if you have under 1th  like the r606 solo is fine.

My and my partners have 900th we do not do solo.  As power bill is in the 2500-3000 range monthly..  And we would  more then 17 months to hit a block.  with standard luck.  so 3000 x 17 = 51000 out of pocket with zero coins  then hit a block  worth 125000

and that is not true after ½ ing .
