I left the house tonight and didn't watch my rentals closely. While I was gone they shot up to and sustained 75TH for hours (and even had a 95TH blip)! Oops! Given recent history, I didn't expect both WH and NH to dip into the 0.0028 area at the same time. (I keep enough orders posted so that I can average 36TH with just WH or just NH when only one is feasible; I usually drop the price on half of the orders when both are alive simultaneously).
Please, please, please hit 6 or more fast blocks within the 5n now so that my mistake turns out to be a lucky one!
I've had nothing but the bad end of luck since I started this rental experiment and could use some good news. Changing methods to smooth out my average and keep things alive has helped with the variance, but I'm still down a lot. This takes way too much babysitting too-- I'm writing a bot to handle the order manipulation for me (using my rules) when I'm away/asleep, but that will not be done for a few days.
I never though I would say this, but I really long for the days when the N range was almost a week long instead of just a little over a day! Back then a blip in on/off variance was a lot easier to manage. Of course, it also came with the pain of Red October, so maybe not...
Have you looked into the nicehash bot? https://github.com/nicehash/NiceHashBot/

Meanwhile during this nice failover happening at the moment with the pool at 40PH ... The (linode) SG node lost connection for almost 10 minutes MTRs with the monitoring linode node shows it's nothing to do with the main pool node - but again the linode network. All is OK again. The network problem was from 09:37 UTC until 09:46 UTC so anyone connected would most likely have failed over - but be back again ok now.

I heard the beeping just a while ago - but now back to normal. Very heavy rain the whole day - I may have to power down the Juvia machines temporarily to redo some wiring. I noticed droplets of water coming into my make-shift outdoor shed "data centre".

yeah this one breaks me even for my .1 in rentals I need one more block to break completely even on the fees but pretty close to even now. But I also now have .21 BTC in my nicehash account for the next long block so I'm all set in case I need it.

With this block I am in for 0.777 and gained an extra 0.868 back with the boosted shifts paying 6 times. It's a small gain so far...112%

I tried this the other day, too, after you mentioned it. I only broke even, due to the orphan

Congrats, a gain is a gain. Keep up the good work. The problem is you have to keep doing this over and over to make any headway. I prefer setting a smaller size rental and running it for the whole month. Doing a big boost like this is a bit unnerving! I only did it this time to try and break the long block... Edit: Of course, I totally prefer to run my own iron...my 44TH will soon be 50TH and it is soooo much more reliable than the rentals! I keep a steady rental going just to help the kano pool. It takes a lot of attention to keep the 5Nd up...almost too much attention. My real iron just keeps running and producing without much interference from me at all...the way it should be!
