So today we had a thunderstorm in NJ and a tree fell on my car and crushed it. Then when I finally got home, my internet line was down and service tech is coming sometime tomorrow (between 8 & 5 - how's that for a tight window? Sheesh!) and until them my miners are offline so my 5ND is in a nosedive. Not a good day Sad

wow.... sorry to hear that.

Here's something to cheer you up; Scott Sterling had worst days....

Hahaha! Thanks - that was pee in my pants funny!  Grin Cheesy
[EDIT] Sorry for the OT. Looking forward to getting my internet fixed and my miners back online here at Kano.is

...
Well they have all improved considerably.  Now all under 1 percent.  The vast majority is stales, which I expect from the miners running through MRR proxy, but not the ones mining directly.  The only one I have that bothers me now is an s7 on auto diff currently running 3.649k.  Should I change the diff or reboot?  I'm inclined to see if  it improves since it was way above 1% invalid, so I'll defer the call to you as to whether this will help the miner submit faster or I should wait a bit...   Note: The straggler is an MRR rig...
Well if it's stales, there's nothing I can do about that.
Especially if it's going via a "non-local to you" proxy - that will only slow it down and thus cause more stales.

One thing to know, non PPS pools in the past have been known to allow stales for a short time after they become stale to make the pool look better.
The side effect of this is two-fold:
1) Pool luck drops
2) No one 'expects' more reward (since it has the same 'expected' effect on everyone at the same ratio they mine)

Changing the diff won't make any difference except possibly at the start where it will randomly be better or worse.
However, if your miner is sending truck loads of diff shares that don't meet the diff requirement, then yeah it may be advisable to reduce your diff.
You wont get better rewards, but you'll see fewer 'Hi' rejects if it is always sending them.
However, the pool will adjust the diff up if you set it too low, no matter what.

P.S. I see no email Tongue

Well that was some good info would help those that mine on Kano and try to run eth solo mine.  But ehh Kano knows all right?  Cheesy. I get it it was about the "other coin".   I guess since it doesn't actually hurt the pool just the miners revenue it's ok to sweep that under the rug ehhh.

No.
Alt-coins are off topic in this part of the forum by forum rules, so I need no grounds whatsoever to delete a post about them.
That is something I am truly glad about.

They are all scams.
You choose to be part of those scams, that is not relevant to this part of the forum, and taking risk in a scam for gain, that is your problem if you lose.

The only relevant advice I'd give is simply: stay away from all alt-coins.

I have yet to understand why anyone believes that a free give-a-way coin has any value or why anyone would not expect it to drop to the zero value it represents.

Kano Can you hold back payments for my wallet a few days? I use breadwallet, but its not Working after i updated it Angry

I Need to make them a support ticket when i get home.

Interesting - I also use Breadwallet. It definitely is having some issues after the last update, mainly crashing upon startup. I've been able to get it working though after a couple of tries so haven't worried enough to switch payouts or anything like that.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon!

Mine is crashing more now... I've never tried uninstalling / reinstalling. I feel like there was one update a while back that also had this crashing problem and they fixed it pretty quickly. I've emailed support and hopefully will hear back soon. They've been really responsive in the past.

I might have to email you as well Kano!!! Will bug you if this issue persists.

I have yet to understand why anyone believes that a free give-a-way coin has any value or why anyone would not expect it to drop to the zero value it represents.

I used to agree with this logic.  But after looking long and hard at crypto coins from the level of a consumer and that of an economical universe one alt coin that is asic proof is needed for this to work.

Only one not the 100 or more bouncing around.  But one is needed and it can never be mined with  an asic machine it needs to be mined via gpu's.

So I do support 1 alt coin.  And I do support BTC.

I respect your position of only BTC and it could work if Chinese dominance was removed. But the current BTC setup can no longer handle  volume of transactions needed as it is currently structured.  Maybe one day BTC will do what is necessary to be stand alone right now it does not.

But all off topic.  On topic is I ordered a batch 2 s-9  and hope to soon have 50th in gear pointed here.

Thanks Kano.  Good info for troubleshootiing.  Yeah all I can really do on "non local"  is ask if rig and pool are ok, the proxy part I can't change.  I think that particular s7 was clocked above its capabilities or it was just allowed to get to hot maybe, so I just let that one end.  Next time I'll try a lower diff if a similar issue occurs. It goes against my hash hungry instinct, but makes sense when you lay the facts out. Good advice as usual:)

all my miners have failed over from the FR and DK nodes and show them as dead (although I can ping them fine)

is there any problem with them ?

upgrading my S7 to May 23rd FW (and rebooting) fixed it

maybe I'll reboot the S5's but they're hasing on main pool anyway...

half of my rentals went dead on FR node but the other half still hung on also on FR.... it could be a EU network issue.
