So technically we could have withheld the first block and then use the second to orphan BW's block in the middle???
Isn't that what they just did to us?

a bit more complicated than that. a withheld block has a good chance of being lost. you'd have to risk losing blocks just to attempt to sandwich a specific target to apply it maliciously. very hard to imagine someone putting that much risk/effort into it. what a curious 25 hr window.

Curious is right, Ant's last block was almost 6 hr ago with a stated 322PH!

Yeah the last orphan dropped them out of the pool work again. I've put 417892 and 417898 back in the pool work. Well ... that's lucky, we wouldn't have got those exact 3 blocks with different transactions in the work

Yeah that's basically correct. There's an one issue though ... when you have 3 people in one country controlling almost 80% of bitcoin blocks, there is a risk of ... collusion. There's certainly no good reason why any pool on the planet would find a block, and be mining on it, but it not show up on ANY relay on the planet. The reason a block doesn't show up on the relay is if it takes WAY too long to get to the relay after another competing block is found. I have the relay logs of course, and they include BJS (China) and HK (of course I have EU, JP, US-East, but US-West is long dead) A pool that isn't trying to get it's blocks in the relay as fast as possible, either is foolish, or doesn't care about it ... for some unknown reason. Edit: but to expand on something I mentioned on the previous page We now have 2 nodes inside China getting our blocks in there and on relays as fast as possible. The first one in North China near the BJS relay and the second one in Southern China pointing at both the BJS relay and the HK relay. So, our blocks at least get to all relays, all over the planet, usually within a few hundred milliseconds of the shares arriving at the pool ... as they did with our last orphan

I am glad to see us catching up after this round of orphans! Thank you Kano to put everything in your power to keep us ahead of the game I hope that this new relay in China will help us reduce these orphans.
