Are you talking about the 6 980ti's on one rig?

yup ...

so far only 5 x gigabyte 980ti g1 / extreme will work at any one time - and the 6th kills the drivers for some reason ...

the system is 4 x gigabyte 980ti g1 + 2 x gigabyte 980ti extreme ...

it doesnt matter which pcie you remove from the collection - it will only work with 5 cards - and the as soon as the 6th card goes in the driver refuses to load ...

#crysx
5 isn't bad....but funny the 6th card kills the drivers.
Are you oc ing them?

win10 doesn't work well in memory algos.

Etherum/cryptonight

Nvidia i assume?

290x doing ethereum on Windows 8 gave me 26Mhz

Same on Windows 10 gives me 27Mhz.

 Smiley
The same here with Win 10 and Win 8. I have read about it earlier and switched to the 10th version.

hi all ...

can anyone help with this issue i have with the current build ...

im stumped as to why the 6th card on the new 'big' build of 980ti g1 and 980ti extreme refuses to work with the latest drivers ...

remove just ONE card from the lot - and it will run and mine ... and mine like a bat out of hell at that ...

the setup is exactly the same as the 750ti oc lp card setup - but these cards refuse to work with more than 5 cards ...

has anyone had an issue like this before? ... would it be an issue with onboard ram? ...

the system has 16gb high performance ram - h81probtc - g1840gpu - kingston v300 120gb sdd - 2 x corsair ax1200 psu ( 3 cards per psu - with the first psu running the power to the motherboard and ssd ) - usb3 risers ( all powered ) along with the 2 x 4pin molex power connectors ( as redundancy ) via the motherboard - 4 x gigabyte 980ti g1 cards + 2 x gigabyte 980ti extreme cards ( higher clocked ) for a total of 6 cards ...

when 5 cards of ANY combination are running - all is ok ... when the 6th card is installed - the boot refuses to load nvidia drivers ... the version of drivers plays no part in this as the drivers have been tested with different versions and they ALL do the same thing ...

fedora 23 x64 cuda 7.5 ( f23x64c75 ) and ccminer-spmod78 ...

the elusive 6th card is the only thing holding this monster of a miner back ... and is holding back the installation into its custom aluminium frame ...

any ideas? ... anyone? ..

#crysx

Weird. I'd try only using 1 stick of ram (or disable dual channel), using one card as main and disable onboard graphics, try different BIOS settings (pcie link speed) and of course disable render standby, try different risers, drivers, etc.
Also, disable USB3, only use 1 sata device (in case you ran out of PCIE lanes).

all done bathrobehero ...

it seems to be some limitation somewhere ... i just need to find it ...

im in the office for a few hours till tonight - so after i get through all the work that has piled up - ill start on this miner if i have time left ...

personal life is eating a HUGE chunk out of my work life at the moment ... so i need to get this done when i can ...

tanx ...

@chrysophylax
6x 980ti is not very common Smiley
My experience with h81pro btc + 8GB + G1820 is running incredibly troublefree from the beginning. I couldn't be happier. Both lubuntu(usb stick) and windows 7(sata SSD) runs perfectly without any issue. Even installing Win with all gpus allready plugged and using wifi usb dongle all the time.
The biggest difference from Your build is 980+3x970+960+750ti and all running from the same psu(LEPA G1600).
I have never plugged the molex connectors to the motherboard. It is meant to power the old(shitty) unpowered pcie risers.
I have forgot the exact bios settings, I think I set the pcie to gen1 instead of gen2 or 3 and switched off the integrated cpu graphics for sure.

We might have a different bios version on the mobo or it might be just 980ti using more resources.

On my other desktop motherboard(much more expensive one) I got many problems allready with 3 or 4 gpu's. I had to plug one by one and sometimes it didn't work until I changed the pcie riser... Very strange behavior.

Good luck  Wink

BTW I prefer Win7 x64 by far for mining.

yup - agreed ...

i have a few of these motherboards in action now - and they are superb ... i have another 36 of them ready to be rolled out for the new farm im building in the new premises ... im forced to move from this current office in two months which is making my life hell at the moment - so they can demolish it and build residential units ... apart from that - in 2weeks i need to personally move into a new home as well ...

with the 750ti oc lpo cards - there does not seem to be any issue whatsoever ... with the 980ti cards - i have this issue ...

ill work on the bios settings soon - and will compare them with the 750ticard machine ...

ill also take into account all the great advice you guys have supplied here - and see if any of it actually does the trick to get it running ...

as many of you are aware - i am very much against windows on any installation - let alone mining ... especially in a framing environment - even though i have seen windows farms before ( and ill bet they dont have one licensed windows os either ) ... but for this one machine - i will test it ... ill be buying another kingston v300 120gb ssd to install windows on there ...

i have two versions of windows ( yes - licensed Wink - of course ) - windows 7 ultimate x64 - and windows 10 x64 ... when there is sufficient time - ill try both with all the latest drivers ...

i hope i can alleviate this with a linux / bios fix though - as i dont like wasting time on windows installs if i dont have to ...

lets see how this goes in a few hours ...

yes ...

http://ark.intel.com/products/80800/Intel-Celeron-Processor-G1840-2M-Cache-2_80-GHz ...

but i have not had issues with this before ... but then again - as was mentioned before - this machine is not your 'average' machine ...

possibly the issue? ...

it is weird - and yes 5 is good ... if the benchmarks are anything to go by - they hash very hard ... and that is stock ... so i cant wait to get them functional on a live pool ...

i dont oc ANY of the cards - just let them run on stock clocks ...

if they are capable of running higher clocks on oc - i probably still wont oc them ... once the machine is finished - i will only have it for a week of mining ( of which 2 days of this machine will go to donation mining ) - and then its off to its new home ...

its times like this i wish i had this guys money ... i could replace my entire farm with just four of these machines ...

Some registry modifications may help to solve your 6+ nvidia gpu issue.

These registry mods are for AMD cards and windows builds.
https://lbr.id.lv/6xgpu_mod/6xGPU.html

However some registry settings are not AMD (ATI) related!

Maybe worth a try.

Beautiful come back, totally addressed the argument and the situation and made a witty retort... /golfclap

You don't sell to anyone! You've already mentioned that. And by 'we' you mean you and Wolf0. You don't even sell anything, so that doesn't even matter. Wolf0 basically just sells AMD stuff and doesn't market Nvidia kernels (at least from what I've seen).

That's kinda the problem... Lack of kernels to buy. A open market would help with that.

So is there a escrow or some sort of service that will hang onto the BTC until the goal is met and return it if it isn't? I'd definitely donate .1 if this is like Kickstarter, but if it's not and we just get screwed at the end of the donation goal if it's not met, I'm not too keen on that.

That aside, this probably means Nicehash was unwilling to pay him the full amount for a Neoscrypt miner because they didn't consider it worth it and he's attempting to make more then Nicehash is willing to pay for his optimizations. Food for thought as far as greed goes or am I supposed to worship him for even offering any such 'deal'?

I buy private Nvidia miners. Send information and/or inquiries to my PM box.

If anyone remembers I had a problem putting my 2nd 980ti on my rig. It wouldn't except it. Had all kinds of trouble getting nvidia inspector accepting it. I had fan runaway ect. Here it was a faulty 4 pin power cable to my power riser. Works like a champ now.

Haha, got to admit. I think you're dead-on with that last part there :p

I'm actually guessing that he has a set amount that Nicehash is already willing to pay him and he will release the code no matter what, but this is an attempt to get even more money out of things and Nicehash has agreed to give him a time period to raise money as well, as he doesn't mention anywhere how much Nicehash is willing to pay him and how much we need to 'fill in' for Nicehash.

If he used a all-or-nothing funding service like Kickstarter, but for bitcoin or a escrow service so we get money back if he doesn't release it I would totally help chip in. I haven't found anything like that though.

As far as a open market goes. I think it would. There isn't a marketplace to sell kernels and the devs always appear to think they'll get ripped off in someway, none of them seem to be interested in actually making a place to sell their stuff too (like a thread). A open market would also attract competition if they see how much people are selling things for.

Although I don't have the resources of Nicehash, someone would have to commission a 'lockbox' miner system, where kernels could be safely inserted into it and are much less likely to be reverse engineered or the devs will bitch.

I buy private Nvidia miners. Send information and/or inquiries to my PM box.

#crysx

Perhaps your mainboard or PSU(s) is not able to supply enough power to the cards?
Check your power draw when 5 of the cards are mining.

Fellow miners, get your thens and thans in order and help other forum readers understand what you are writing. Remember the grammar basics:  B larger THAN A (comparator operator). If something THEN ....

@crysx

I have a vague memory  of a similar issue being discussed a while back in this thread, specifically the part about
adding a 6th card. I also recall some mention of pagefile/swap space. Might be worth a look.
