No, he just changed his name again. In Bitcoinmax days he was "payb.tc". He went quiet for a while, then became "E&G"- (IanG- get it?) until this recent interest in this thread. Now he has become "User25846". He still has his 2673 post count, and "Hero" status. I think it's really out of order that theymos is allowing him to pull this namechanging act every so often. He always openly stated that if pirate defaulted any invested BTC would be lost, so I don't know if he deserves a scammer tag. But then, who can tell if he ever actually sent pirate any coins? So now that the SEC is officially involved I'm assuming that they are going to be speaking with Pay.btc/Hightower. I'm sure we all would appreciate updates from him regarding his communication with the SEC.

I don't expect anything to happen at all until seized money from Trendon shows up. Well, that's with a big "if" here, obviously. payb.tc triesto sit this out, ignoring anything related to bitcoinmax and changing nicks and all that. Ente

He's been acting very fishy ever since Pirate defaulted and tried to hide every detail of his passthrough. From what I know, he also refused to work together with the officials (SEC). So I'm not sure anymore if it really was a passthrough at all. I wonder if anybody living in Australia would be willing to act on behalf on Ian's investors and face him to talk about all this (and maybe even file a lawsuit). Ian seems to have ignored a few withdrawal requests before everything blew up. Considering the current BTC value, a bounty from those investors would most likely equal tens of thousands of dollars.

Now that's the real amazing news here. No assasination, no (real, mind you) mob formed, no bouty, nothing ever happened. Except, embarrasingly, the government who stepped in. But then, now it's kind of pointless, at least with Trendon, as the government takes care now. With Ian, hmm.. I saw no hard evidence that he did something evil, instead of a simple "did something stupid". I wonder if there's enough left in the community to form a mob? I doubt it, somehow.. Ente

I said before that I would pay a percentage of any retrieved coins. With Ian, hmm.. I saw no hard evidence that he did something evil, instead of a simple "did something stupid".
Being stupid is one thing, refusing to help is another. As for evidence: I started to get suspicious when I noticed that coins I sent to Ian were moved in July this year. And from the history of that address, it seems like it was one of Ian's pooling addresses. I wonder if there's enough left in the community to form a mob? I doubt it, somehow..
With investors spread all over the world, there's not much of a chance for a real mob. That's why I think a bounty might work better.

Well, there's a huge difference between a bounty, a percentage of the returns and a plain fund which pays regardless of the outcome.. With the recent exchange rate, even a few Bitcoins should go a long way though. I'm in, just to see some justice done. Ente

A fixed bounty might increase the loss if the retrieved amount is lower than the promised bounty. Same for a fund. A percentage however includes the incentive to be as effective as possible, because a higher return means a higher reward.

Did anyone contact payb.tc? Does anyone know anything about Trendon Shavers judjement? I'd like to know whether there is any chance of recovering a part of our BTC.

Well, from the sounds of it Trendon didn't have many assets left to seize and still carries a considerable amount of debt. So I doubt that much, if anything, gets paid out...

Of course it's hard to believe Trendon wasted a quarter million BTCs, with nothing substancial left now. Even when the exchange rate was way lower back then. We'll see, I guess. He will give his "strategy" a second though when facing two-digit jailtime.. Ente

Well at least from the SEC document we know that pay.btc was a real pass-through. It could still be though that Ian kept some coins for himself when it was clear that things would collapse.
