I invested because of David and the off chance the market place works out.

Exactly. And keep in mind that their ICO funds remain unaffected by the price. The team has their budget to work on no matter what.  Though in a way it's flattering that all the clowns chose to perform their acts here.

This.  Again, I really appreciate your posts, Decentradical!  Smiley

Essentially there are only 3 ways to fund a coin project these days:
1) Straight investment of fiat.  Ripple and Etherium are examples of this - great for insiders, horrible for smaller/late investors.  The biggest advantage is that the value remains relatively stable because it exsits (for shareholders at least) outside the actual trading market.  Much less manipulation is possible, however only a very few hands can truly see returns.

2) ICO investment held as BTC.  Very similar, obviously - however investment opportunity is more broadly spread and possibilities exist for later investors to get even cheaper coins without damaging the team's warchest.  The only downside for the team is the volatility of BTC itself, but they also have a single market path to redemption of funds for marketing, travel, payroll, etc.

3) Premine/Instamine/Etc.  Although it seems most people think this makes more sense, it actually makes almost none... after all you can't redeem the coins without damaging the price of the coin itself... so any redemptions made for necessities/promotions/payroll actually damage the coin's reputation and market price... which also reduces the value of the coins held for later use.

I agree with many who are displeased with the ICO price vs. current market price... but at the same time, this is precisely what crypto is all about actually.  Real businesses take time, talent, and capital to spin up.  Those that attempt this in an unregulated, unproven, and extremely limited marketplace must either be dedicated idealists willing to risk their personal fortunes just to potentially make other people rich (there's probably 10-20 of these people in the entire world IMO) - or they must find a way to fund the venture without risking their personal assets.  If there were SBA loans or dozens of VC firms investing in altcoins, there might be a better way of doing this, but since there isn't... this is pretty much the only viable option - despite the fertilizer it provides to the FUD-garden. Waste money? LOL

This is fucking STANDARD to use some % of ICO (specially when ICO is huge) to stabilize price around ICO price, when likely community is waiting for releases.

People here are hilarious - "price is not important" - talking about problems with expensive IOC is Fud and proposition/question of use small % of ICO to help price is "waste money".

In that way when pice will be 60 people with coins at 2xx/1 shouuld be happy LOL

Well that sure makes my holiday plans much easier... now all I'll need is a beer, lawn chair, and some sunglasses.  Thanks man!  Was worried I'd still have to go back to work after new year's.  Cool

They don't care about the price now because it is irrelevant when a peg is in the future of the coin.

No. They don't care about price because they have 3000 btc and community here is in Crypto Stockholm Syndrome.

Tell ppl when Bay will hit 60 sato and ppl will be at 70%+ loss that price is not important and using small % of huge ICO to help price is wasting money LOL  Shocked Shocked Shocked

How is it a 70% loss when I'm never going to sell at 60?

Q: How will BAY be using ICO investment funds?  Will there be any public accountability or updates?

A: The BitBay team will not receive all of the investment funds out the gate. As stated during the ICO period, only a fraction of the community investment will be available to the team for immediate use. The rest of the funds will get released by bter exchange as we hit our development milestones. Here is a breakdown of how ICO funds will be released to the project:

- 33% of dev fund at completion of ICO / delivery of initial wallet. (This threshold has been met.)
- 33% of dev fund at btc at delivery of wallet with integrated smart contracts (Dec. 5th, 2014)
- 33% of dev fund at delivery of our decentralized marketplace (1st quarter 2015)
-  Remaining balance of funds after 60 days of stable marketplace performance. At this time the BitBay team will also be releasing their Phase 2 road map.

So, NO they don't have 3000 BTC yet.

You only lose if you sell. 500 BAY will always be 500 even if price hits 1 sat. Only fools sell their coins at loss specially when it comes to coin that have potential to become next biggest thing.

We're not saying the price is important. Don't worry, this isn't Dogecoin.

But you've got to recognise this for what it is. These are just a bunch of folks stunting with the price within an extremely shallow margin. In this context a buy wall would only mean a gesture to the investors. Like being served champagne on a first class trip. You paid for that champagne with your ticket, but if that champagne money could be used to make your trip both safer and faster you would do it. That's where your ICO money is going to right now, to a coding crew working on the exchange in order to get it finished in January.

@Amyth....

Well this would be potential 70% loss but in fact this is loss, just unrealised. Just like someone bought Blackcoin for 80k. He's at 90% loss, even if he didn't and he won't sell, he's in deep shit indeed.

Dev should put fucking buy wall for 300btc and Community must request this from devs.

If you treat this as a waste of funds, then it looks like:

I'm willing to discuss the price 1st quarter next year, but not now in this premature phase.
I really couldn't care less if it dumps to whatever low price coming weeks, as long as the BitBay team keeps their promises of the roadmap, I'm still a very happy investor.

So, NO they don't have 3000 BTC yet.

Actually, they never will as the entirety of the funds is less than that.  It would only be 3000BTC if all of the ICO coins were sold at 300 sats... but actually none of them were sold at that price.

My guess is it's around 2780BTC at most... and probably closer to 2675BTC.  A big chunk of the coins were sold at the 250-260 level.

Bounty: 100,000 Bay

The rules:

1) Competition ends midnight Monday US east coast time. Winner announced Tuesday.

2) Your bet / contract must be accepted by someone else in the community & posted with screenshots, including execution.

3) Winning bet reward (100,000) will be split 50 - 50 between challenger & taker.

4) Have fun!

BitBay Team

Who wants to do one? Easiest risk-free  50K BAY ever. You can tell your grandchildren that you won your yacht with this bet.

This.

If people had sense, they'd realize this is the time to buy and lower their averages, not moan and create FUD

Yup.  It's one thing to bemoan losses in a market... it's quite another to make a hard decision to permanently take a loss or trade hard/smart to turn an earlier loss into a future profit.  Welfare mentality is quite a big issue in the fiat world... and here it's no different I'm afraid.
