Honestly, it's getting harder to trust anyone in the bitcoin community these days. People especially conmen have come to realize that ASIC is in high demand & everyone's trying to get a piece before the mining difficulty goes up another notch. Just check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=76.0 & see how many people are coming up with weird & near-impossible ASIC specifications. Yet, we still have people investing in them & ended up being burned.

Back to KNCMiner, the risk is too big for me to bear alone, hence the reason why I rather pay a miniscule price for a group buy & get a small piece of the pie. The old adage of "big risk, big gain" holds especially true here.

@cloudstrife07 - I never thought of that. Maybe its time I find a data centre solution to mitigate the power risk.

Anyway, I wonder how some people can do mining at home, unless they changed the meter to 3 phase, changed the Distribution Box and additional wiring.

For nomal 1 phase meter home:

1 home socket = 13A.

1 rig 1200w = 5A.

so you can go max 2 rig per socket, unless u route the 20A MCB (mini circuit breaker) from the DB which is usually used for airconds to power your rigs.  Huh

too expensive. see here for example: http://www.aims.com.my/colocation-services/co-location-package-and-pricing-in-malaysia/

unless you're going to have an ASIC farm of 2TH/s and above, i don't think it's feasible to use a datacenter.

if mining LTC or other alt coins, the electricity is going to be really expensive there. hence, i guess it's better to rent an office shoplot and put them there. a shoplot if im not mistaken has 200A, so can house maximum 30 rigs there + aircond. you wouldnt want to put more, it's risky as it's nearing the 200A current. 1 shoplot can easily get around MYR1000. cheaper than datacenter.

but well, for datacenter, there's 'free' aircond and 'free' internet already with 24/7 power. (the MYR3000 u paid every month is for that  Tongue)

I'll only bring up the DC solution for customers having  ASIC farm of 2TH/s and above. thanks for reminder.

Software to mine or as a wallet?

If it's mind, use cgminer. For wallet, I go for blockchain.info but you can also try coinbase.

Colour me curious but what are you using to mine BTC? GPU?
