Well BFL has delivered quite a few devices that NASTY Mining has been using for a while now, as well as delivered to me personally, so I am not as doubtful that they can deliver as you appear to be. Now if you want to talk about shipping delays I could see agreeing with you, but I would hope they are getting better, but who knows. As for the price drop, you seem to be just speculating so obviously its anybodies guess at this point if that will happen.
Have Metabank even delivered a product yet? I'm asking as I don't know, I know I have seen prototypes on YouTube and such. And obviously NASTY Mining believes they are for real since we have group buy shares in one. But since they only ship to Mother Russia we would need pay another middle man to get it here.
But diversifying, and bringing in some non-BFL miners would be a good idea too. Especially since the BitForce 500 GH/s is $22k-ish (16k-ish after 25% discount) versus the $8k bitfury.
I see no problem with sticking with BFL for this order, though I would have no problem getting a bitfury. How's that for fence sitting
Bitfury went on sale to North Americans on July 7th, 2013.
https://megabigpower.com/shop/400Gh/s can be ordered for $8k, with a promise of delivery in October. BFL has shipped nothing but Jala's for at least the past week. They are stuck on first day orders for singles. You have a
MASSIVE glut of Feb/March/April 2013 orders still waiting for production, that got ordered when the bitcoin price bubbled. Do you honestly think a Minirig ordered now would be delivered by October?
The voucher was originally going to be for 60 days delivered with your shipped order. Now they have backpedaled on the expiry duration, and dumped them all at once on us regardless of your delivery status.
They did not do this for no reason. I believe that reason to be they are losing sales, need cash, and want a price drop to boost pre-orders funds coming in and get their manufacturing lines running again. They need the voucher promise out of the way so they can price drop, else they'll lose money on the vouchers.
All in all, you need to look at the evidence presented today.
Bitfury: 400Gh@$8K;delivery promise:Oct 31, 2013; new unknown startup, however some evidence of performance
BFL: 500Gh@$18K(!);delivery promise: perpetual 2 weeks(tm);experience in the mining hardware industry, however no evidence they are cleaning up their act
Or we could just sit on the cash and wait for a product to be stocked and delivered under 2 weeks, from whomever can perform.
Personally, I think the smart move is to wait. If I was hell-bent on ordering now, I think the choice is bitfury.
Full disclosure: I have a July 2012 BFL order that I'm waiting on, and I'm starting to get pissed about and I have a voucher code and chips codes that I'll likely never use. I haven't yet, but I'm considering placing a bitfury order.
