For the record, darteous is a moderator at nokoin forum and has according to himself invested $3k in it

They are a bit more tight lipped about the launch than expected. It is a high risk investment/high reward investment.
here is what primevalsoup, nocoin forum member and one of the biggest presale investors (40 btc) has to say
Quote from: primevalsoup
I almost bit my tongue but it's clear that many on this forum have drunk way too much of the Neucoin Koolaid and I'm getting a bit tired of people making the "Neucoin is being strategically tight lipped" argument as an excuse for what I believe may either be laziness or a genuine lack of progress. Their strategic plan is already out in the open for all to see and I haven't once asked for the team to reveal "business secrets." ... I challenge you to point me to one MEANINGFUL post pre-sale update.

What makes me so interested in this coin is it's distribution model and deals in place for usage before launch.
Deals in place?! You mean the 3 websites that will take nokoin, 2 of which are owned by dank spyware-pig???
or you mean distributing to other crypto communities?? That didn't work out well https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=944933.msg11732035#msg11732035

I'd suggest reading through the forum to make your own opinion about two of the coins team members Sandrine and Mark..
Read through it and realize what a sorry ass joke Mark is and why he is widely ridiculed.
he runs survey after survey, hoping it will teach him how to do his job, then refuses to pay out the promised coins to some of them by claiming their answers are garbage.
he bans (or threatens with ban) several nokoin forum users for reasons such as "harshing on my buzz, dude", alienating many potential adopters. Their forum is a ghost town and posts come mostly from mods and a few bagholders.
Tell me one real accomplishment of his thus far?? Only senior position ever held, in a small company, barely lasted 4 months

Sandrine apparently moved to London few months after presale and has an expensive property there. At her young age and never having held a well-paid position, it must mean she comes from a wealthy family right  Roll Eyes

Dank was part of a company that used a questionable loophole in the past.
I see you also started to employ the same misleading mumbo jumbo used by nokoin.
Anyone following this thread knows that Dank and 3 others were the founders and owners of the spyware company Direct Revenue. Besides dank spyware-pig, 3 other members of that company are part of nokoin as angel investors. There was no legal loophole, only security loopholes on users' web browsers which direct revenue exploited to illegally install their malware.

But according to the courts the company wasn't doing anything illegal
Wrong. The case was settled for $1.5M before it reached verdict. This is completely different from a not guilty verdict and by no means imply the court didn't think they were doing anything illegal. Settling a case is simply a way for the accused to pay for his mistake, yet avoiding to admit wrongdoing. No company pays $1.5M and accept crippling restrictions, which caused it to shut down few months later, if they can prove their innocence.

Look at the beginnings of many currencies, there's often some questionable happenings.
Questionable happenings along the lines of infecting millions of computers with spyware that the average user cannot uninstall, some of them wrapped in kiddie porn???
those currencies designed to scam people, any of them still thriving??

I do want someone business minded and smart enough to see opportunities, know when someone might be cheating them, and be successful, etc.
Are your parameters for success as low as the nokoin shill lorrav's?? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=944933.msg11667520#msg11667520
Spyware-pig might know when someone is cheating him, but do you know when spyware-pig is cheating you??

To summarize, less than a month left for launch and here is where it stands
Quote from: primevalsoup
You are joking right? Have you even looked at these sites? You are trying to tell me that creating a silly animation of a squirrel jumping around and posting it on a web site demonstrates real progress/effort?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

So, who wll be such a cool memeber of BTT to present constructive overview of current situation of Neucoin, for visitors of thread to see?  Smiley

Better chip in

Jonalds answer was objective enough, but imo, was to restricted and did not catch the true flavour of this thread.
I cannot present an overview myself as it would also have to miss out all the finesse of the last 6 months.

Dart post is objective also, but probably should be read in context of him being #1 fan.
When he talks of nokoin being tight lipped, it means nokoin really wont tell ya nothing.
Dart decided day 1 (Feb?) nokoin was for him, because of the impressive angel/investor list, and the promise of "utility" and mass adoption.
Getting in at day 1 must be quite exciting, imo.
I agree you should read nokoin forum. I find it hard to believe what I read there, but (some) others clearly do.

My opinion should be read in context of me being #1 sceptic.
The only way you'll get that overview, imo, is to read back here, nokoin forum, ect. It will require some hours.

didn't seem like an estimation. the update said August 6-13.

won't be surprised if there's a delay though as software
projects rarely finish on time.  but still, not launching by the
date promised won't help the nokoiners.

It means they didn't take the money and run as skeptics expected to happen after the pre-sale. That jumping squirrel is getting around though. they're using that animation to advertise on various crypto sites.

A Dart quote I see, interesting.

They have taken your money I suspect? No need to run then.
I've seen that tippy the squirrel ad, so irritating dont you think. So amateur.

why would they run when they can just give you a low effort fork of peercoin?  so much less stress don't you think?  plus if they produce a coin, they can sell even more of them.  I predict pumping and people on newcon forum chomping at the bit to buy more.

Hi to everyone who is new to NeuCoin here!

Just a quick reminder that the primary source of information is http://forum.neucoin.org/. Please join us there if you have any questions or want to start a conversation about NeuCoin.
If you have any urgent or insightful remark, this is the place where you’ll be able to have direct answers from the core NeuCoin team.

Also, you might be interested in reading a few updates that will make you understand why we have been quieter since the end of the presale. Here is the original link:
http://forum.neucoin.org/t/pre-launch-updates/1268

And here is an excerpt of the updates:

"June 21st update

Hi everyone!
Below is an update about what the NeuCoin team has been working on since the end of the presale on May 1st.

But first, a little background: the first public phase of the NeuCoin Project - the announcement in February, the release of the Whitepaper at the end of March and the Presale at the end of April - was intense in terms of communication: we needed to get our message out there, explain and get feedback on our vision, concept and technology - and to start building a community around what in many ways is a different approach to cryptocurrency: much more rooted in 2.0 consumer media than in hardcore crypto - not merely a coin, but more importantly an ecosystem of consumer facing products and services. The goal was to present what we intended to build, along with a timeframe for launch: summer 2015.

Given all that communication over February through April, I can understand how there has been some frustration about us not communicating more this past month, and am sorry about this. But right now, just prior to launch, the priority is not communication but the critical tech and business development needed to actually launch in the summer and launch successfully. After the launch, the communication floodgates will open again."
[...] Please have a look at the original thread on our forum for the rest of the post.

"July 6th update

Hi everyone,
Two weeks have already gone by! Here is a short update on what has been going on on our side.
As we get ready for a summer launch, we are pushing forward with all the projects I detailed in my last update, including the cryptocurrency itself, the online wallet and consumer proof-of-stake mining service MyNeuCoin, the consumer onboarding vehicle GetNeuCoin, the games integration initiative PlayNeuCoin and the micropayment platforms for tipping and ad-free premium content.
Our current estimation is that the NeuCoin cryptocurrency, MyNeuCoin and GetNeuCoin will launch between August 6th and August 13th.
We have made significant progress on the tipping platform, PlayNeuCoin and the development of games integrating NeuCoin. We currently have two flagship games in production, which will be rolled out shortly after launch.
More updates to come! In the meantime, feel free to ask any questions!"

******
Here are a couple points about a few remarks that were made here on BTCtalk. Please be aware that I will move relevant conversations over to the NeuCoin forum over time.

  • About Daniel Kaufman’s “shady past”:
His involvement in Direct Revenue has always been displayed on our website, nothing we have ever hidden.
This subject has been discussed through and through, here is my answer to this subject:
http://forum.neucoin.org/t/neucoin-speculation/1209/42
Here is an excerpt:
“Now, here are a few other elements:
- Daniel Kaufman as being a creator of Direct Revenue has always been displayed on our website and has never been a hidden fact.
- Daniel Kaufman is not the only person on this team, we are all working very hard on this project to make it succeed, because we believe in its strategy. I accepted (and was thrilled) to join it because I had seen during my time at Coinbase how difficult Bitcoin was for non-mainstream users and how niche its user base was. So when I was approached by three co-founders (yes three, Dan is not the only co-founder, a point you may have missed) that had a clear and interesting approach in making cryptocurrencies more accessible to everyone in a truly useful manner, I was immediately in. “ [...]

  • About the NeuCoin forum:

while i'm looking, I checked daily "users"
19 listed (nokoin forum) users
6 mods/admin
6 zombie "straight zero's"
3 new today, unlikely to return (statistically)
4 "genuine" users
http://forum.neucoin.org/users?period=daily
nokoin still BS about active users. still giving different figures on different pages (see 2 links above)

We did not develop our forum in-house, we use a service called Discourse.org.
We did not design how they compute the number of active users, etc. Thanks a bunch rizzlarolla for your numerous and detailed posts on this, some metrics may indeed be confusing, but they were not our design. I can look into it if necessary, but in any case, it is pretty easy to see if there has been any activity on the forum on a given day at all - even without checking the number of active users - for that you just need to sign up and participate there. You will see that for now indeed our forum is not extremely active as most members are waiting for the launch to happen.

In any case, once again, as posted on the forum yesterday (http://forum.neucoin.org/t/how-about-a-weekly-update-by-dev-as-far-as-the-progress-being-made/1245/57): the core NeuCoin team has never been advocating for blind belief in the project, but we would rather like to be judged on the launch that will happen this summer and on the on-going developments that will be made over time.

Feel free to join us on our forum!

What's the point of joining you on your forum, you palmed primevalsoup off. He is in $10k+. Huh (As I have highlighted)
And banned NomadBR a presale purchaser.  Huh (As I have highlighted)

" the priority is not communication" you just said it.

Why republish old updates? A new Bi-weekly update is overdue. Undecided
Have some respect for primevalsoup, Publish your update.
The last update said nothing new, just rehash that again.

When are you selling foundation coin? At launch? Dart thinks not for 1 month. Is that correct?
Ditto founders/Angels/ect?
This must already be decided, why not clear this up?

You, on nokoin forum can think of me as a super troll if you like, but my posts are, in the main, factual, with links and everything. Shocked
Dart tries to help us learn to love nokoin, but him imagining something will happen, does not make it so.
As he say's, he is privy to no more info than us here.

Oh, credit where it is due, congrats on getting past the FaQ Google docs in view stage. Quite an achievement for the tech team. (As I have highlighted)
But, come on , how cumbersome to use this is. How little detail it addresses. http://faq.neucoin.org/

nokoin, I just see marketing speak. BS.

edit.
Sandrine, the rest of update 1 (June 21 update) also stated " From now on, brief bi-weekly updates will also be posted until the launch"
It's overdue. Another fail?

Also the rizz quote has additional text? (gives the impression it was replied too?) a typo I guess.

WTF WHY I CANNOT POST ON http://forum.neucoin.org  Angry

Hi Rago,

To post on the forum, you need first to sign up:

https://i.imgur.com/Cm8TEVz.png

You may already have signed up, so you should also be aware that there are a few restrictions for new forum members, which are default settings of Discourse.org forums (the service we use for this forum).

You will find more information about this here: https://meta.discourse.org/t/what-do-user-trust-levels-do/4924
And here is an excerpt of the forum quick tips:

"Why can't I do certain things?
New users are somewhat limited for safety reasons. As you participate here, you'll gain the trust of the community, become a full citizen, and those limitations will automatically be removed. At a high enough trust level, you'll gain even more abilities to help us manage our community together."

nokoin and Sandrine say stuff you cannot rely upon. It makes it so hard to distinguish fact from fiction, no?
(mostly fiction imo)

The latest, and I think quite important, statement made, but not seen through, is this bi-weekly update issue. I just dont understand why, if nokoin were serious, nokoin would keep doing this.?

After much dabate, (for nokoin forum)
 Sandrine says
" From now on, brief bi-weekly updates will also be posted until the launch"
The first was on time,
The second was a bit late,
The third is now very late.

It cant be a bi-weekly update if it doesn't get published every 2 weeks.
Just appease the nokoiners for a bit, then forget it. nokoiners wont be rude enough to complain.

I dont really care, (bar that it confirms my opinions) but if I was in, like primevalsoup, I would be fuming.
This bi-weekly update was agreed because the general lack of communication was starting to nark the nokoiners.
As Sandrine said "right now, just prior to launch, the priority is not communication".
So this update is nokoiners information lifeline.
nokoin won't answer primevalsoup questions. (in 10k+)
nokoin won't update primevalsoup as "promised" (in 10k+)
(M3ndi3 said "Even though it's a "given" that they are working on these things, it's nice to hear that they are working on it. ")
Why, then invite people to nokoin forum to "ask questions". Just seems ridiculous to me. !

Is this not factual?
Am I, as Dart said, "turning facts into fud"?

@rizzlarolla

I think everyone that has read this thread already knows what you've got to say buddy. It is getting a bit tiring now. Why don't we all just calm down and wait for the release, coffee in hand?

Yes, neucoin has problems with communicating things clearly and on time. That is definitely an issue and I think we all get it by now. I would definitely like for communication to be better but I also do realize that it doesn't really help with anything. Neucoin is going to be what it is going to be irrespective of how often we get pre-launch updates.

Just stating the same old stuff again and again and making multiple posts on the same issue simply makes you look desperate and makes the onlooker wonder if you have ulterior motives at hand. Surely you don't, do you?  Wink
