I sold all my shares when it became clear Friedcat had no intention of honoring the .1 promotion for the USB erupters any time soon.  This may seem like a small thing, but to me it is a sign that something is wrong at ASICminer or he does not do what he says he will do. I would think it was the former, except I see these being offered for sale in bulk lots of 500, while many wait for the .01 promotion to be honored.  Either way, it is not a good sign to announce a promotion like that and then not follow through with it.

Where can I read about fc promising this promotion? thanks

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

You should thank Friedcat, otherwise you might have actually bought the Eruptors..

Through his resellers.  Take a look at the group buy threads and the .10 promotion thread that CanaryInTheMine locked:

isn't it clear,  Vycid's smart-ism has only serve one aim, he wants to buy low.

Yes, the selloff reasons are pretty evident:

- new big competition with big plans (so far it's all vaporware though)
- no ETA on new blades
- ASICMINER hashrate doesn't keep up with the quick difficulty rise
- no info about new chip design

well, I think this doesn't tell the whole story.  The drop in price times perfectly with the Labcoin bubble.  So, people are likely moving into riskier positions to try and make some profit on the hype.  As Labcoin drops back down, AM starts coming up, which to me, indicates that those who are profitting on the crowd are putting profits back into safer places to hold.

At the same time, USD/BTC is increasing, so I do think people are locking in some profits, there.

On top of all of that, the rebound from yesterday was erased almost signle-handedly by one trader.  The drop in price yesterday also was executed in the same way, with someone filling buy orders from 3.7 to 3.5 almost instantly.  So, there is a bit of market manipulation happening here, too (or maybe just ignorant traders).

I would like an update from FC regarding the recent hash decrease.  Typically, when we see hash rate moving like this, it means FC is moving things around.  They may be testing the lease program, new hardware, etc, but we just don't know.

AM definitely has a lot of hardware/TH on hand, so there must be a reason why the hash rate is not increasing.  I'm sure FC and team are working on it (they are not likely sitting around), but it would be nice to know the situation.

I've seen no evidence to suggest that they have such hardware on hand. I remember Friedcat saying that there was 200 TH/s incoming in 2 sets, with the first batch of the first 100 TH/s entering (or was it leaving) the fab. Since then, I've heard nothing about those chips. Do you have a link to an update about them or something?

The above, coupled with the fact that the hash rate hasn't increased, tells me that they don't in fact have such hardware. If they did have the hardware, why would they just leave it sitting there doing nothing but collecting dust?

The last update was ~1 month ago and included this information:

Quote
Project Timeline

August-September: Deploy/sell all hashpower arriving in July and early August.
September-November: Deploy/sell the hashpower ordered at early July.
November-December: Experimental products of 2nd-gen chips and modular large-scale deployment solutions.

Does anyone have more details on the additional hashpower?

Friedcat has honored the .1, both through his resellers and direct.

I know this because I have received block eruptors for .1 from both his resellers and direct.

People need to be aware of this. He's bought some PUT options on AM several weeks back (sub 3.0) and they're about expire in the coming weeks. His concerns are valid but he does have an ulterior motive as well.

Was it fully or partially honored?

Last time I checked only 30% of previous purchases were eligible to the promo due to limited inventory.

What is questionned here is the remaining 70%

well, we don't know what is going on with the hashrate.  They may not be able to deploy more due to some issues, OR they may be mining under an "unknown" label/IP, OR they may be leasing it out.  Without information from FC homself, we don't know the status for sure.  There are many possible reasons why we can't see the "official" hash rate increasing.

I was under the impression that blades were shipping last week, but I don't the set of chips they came from.

And for the new blades, which should be shipping soon, they should be from the latest set of chips, I think.

LOL. I am flattered you find my arguments so convincing as to single-handedly crash the market.

Seriously - one bear shows up, and that's enough to move the market, in your mind?

But, yes, let it be reiterated (I have mentioned this already in the previous pages): I maintain a short position.

They aren't all sub 3.0, BTW. I have quite a few at 3.2 and 3.5.

Who said you were single-handedly crashing the market?  Maybe you believe that, but I doubt anyone else does.  He is pointing out your bias, just as you point out the bias of others.

unless Vycid is also the trader that repeatedly has been filling buy orders from 3.7 to 3.5 every night (US time), then no, I don't think he's responsible for these price corrections.

What's the deal with the huge block of unknown mining that appeared around the time ASICMINER's marketshare dropped, any theories as to where it is coming from?

2 weeks ago from SilentSonicBoom in PMs sent to his customers to communicate the promo details. He said 30% limit was from friedcat and if it was lifted he would update us.

I will ping him to check since, I see at least 2 resellers that are honoring 100%.
