If the wallet is linked to the suspicious site and they get a SEED then they can steal all the coins in the wallet including Bitcoin.

Honestly, I am pretty skeptical that something like that is even possible. Legitimate wallets would not just hand over your seed to some random third-party site using WalletConnect protocol - I mean, that is just common sense. And to the best of my knowledge, there has never been a single case where that has happened.
1183  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Bookstore on: March 02, 2023, 12:17:53 AM
Yeah, can't think of any other way. But the problems start when people want to return the book. Plus the fact that you have paperback, hardcover, etc. etc. And the volatility. Lot of extra work I think...

Yes, sounds like it could be a ton of extra work. But think about the potential benefits too. A lot of people who use Bitcoin prefer to use it over fiat, and Amazon does not allow that right now. And unless you can offer something unique and different, most folks are probably just gonna order their books straight from Amazon.
1184  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin 2008/09-2022 History Paperback/Hardcover Book on: February 28, 2023, 09:12:04 PM
Hey Tyke, your project seems intriguing, and if executed well, a book could be a great addition to the Bitcoin community. I am unsure of your current progress, but I suggest that you consider having the book reviewed by seasoned experts in the field before its publication. This feedback will provide valuable insights and ensure that the book is accurate and informative.

As an example, while browsing through the available content, I came across page 30 where I noticed the following:
"On 17th November 2009, a public forum at www.bitcointalk.org was born
and founded by Satoshi (he was head admin until almost 2011)."

I checked the Whois info for the "bitcointalk.org" domain and it seems like it was only created in 2011. So, the info in your book about it being founded in 2009 cannot be right. From what I have heard, this forum's first version was actually hosted on the domain "bitcoin.org."

And if you like the project, please support it by buying your next Bitcoin book through the website so we get a small commission on the sales Wink.

I really like your project! It is awesome that you have set up an online bookstore dedicated to Bitcoin topics. That being said, I noticed that others have already mentioned that it would be cool if customers could actually pay for their purchases with Bitcoin. I have to say, I totally agree! Not only would it be a really convenient feature for your customers, but it would also help to further promote the use of Bitcoin and increase awareness of its benefits. I know that there are a number of payment processors that make it pretty easy to do so these days, so it might be worth looking into.
1186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New crypto on: February 28, 2023, 06:59:26 PM
I want to create a crypto that work outside exchanges, so it's price is completly decided by the market, not an entity.

It is possible to create a cryptocurrency that operates outside of exchanges and whose price is determined solely by market demand. However, it is important to note that the value of any cryptocurrency is ultimately determined by the collective actions of users and the wider market, regardless of whether or not it is traded on an exchange.

so it's more secure.

What makes it more secure?

the vallue is determinated by negotiation:

In contrast to what determines the value of any other digital asset?
1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fruit of greed is never good,, on: February 28, 2023, 06:27:28 PM
A friend of mine invested some of his savings in Bitcoin. But unfortunately today his personal wallet got hacked. Balance 00. I was telling my friend how that . My friend said he gets a message on Telegram and gets greedy and enters the link they provide and connects his wallet. After a while he came and saw that his balance was zero.

Something is not right with this story. First, you mentioned that your friend had invested in Bitcoin, but later stated that he linked his wallet to a malicious website. However, from what I understand, Bitcoin wallets do not typically offer support for WEB3 or decentralized apps. So either your friend hasn't actually invested in Bitcoin or there is something missing in his story.

That being said, scammers are known to create fraudulent sites and apps that mimic legitimate ones in order to trick users into giving up their private keys or other sensitive information. So it is possible that your friend was tricked into giving up his private key by a fraudulent site. However, this is not something that would typically happen.
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you accept ? on: February 27, 2023, 09:47:35 PM
So why did SEC now accepts that everything apart from Bitcoin is a security? This makes me smile that they keep Bitcoin out of the hook but is it true that all other crypto projects can be considered a security?

Well, to be clear, the SEC said that most digital assets can be considered unregistered securities, not everything. The SEC has a set of guidelines called the Howey Test, which is used to determine whether something is a security. If a cryptocurrency meets the criteria outlined in the Howey Test, then it may be considered a security. Therefore, it is not accurate to say that all other crypto projects can be considered a security, but rather it depends on the specific characteristics of each project and how they fit within the legal definition of a security.

i am looking for someone who can manage bounty campaign

Hey, if you are thinking of running a bounty campaign on this forum, it is a good idea to hire a reliable bounty manager. There are a bunch of them on here, and I cannot list them all, but you can check out these threads for some suggestions:

1190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How somebody can prove that my wallet belong to him? on: February 26, 2023, 09:07:11 PM
Not random words!
It's just 2048 english words and the dictionary is known!

Just? Let me ask you something, do you know how many possible permutations there are for a 12-word seed phrase from a set of just 2048 words?
I know that o_e_l_e_o and franky1 have already answered you, but I am just wondering if you know how to calculate that number yourself?

@guys, I do not think it is worth trying to dumb it down for him any further. I am not sure if he is just trolling or he really no understandWink

It is a 100% gamble.

More likely, 100% SCAM!

I will take no commision in order to gain confidence.

LOL!

Feel free to ask any questions.

Dude, that is such a lame scam attempt. You might as well post something like: "Here is my BTC address, suckers! Sending me your money!"

Welcome to the forum, Victorybit1!

If you are thinking of investing in Bitcoin, do not worry, it is never too late to start. But before you jump in, make sure you understand the risks involved. Since you are new, it is best to start small; a few dollars a day (or a week) will do. As you learn more and gain confidence, you can gradually increase your investment over time. Once again, welcome onboard and good luck!
1193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There is no way to know unless I ask on: February 26, 2023, 07:25:50 PM
There is no way to get more knowledge in this crypto world than asking questions from those who are here before me,
~

Of course there are other ways to acquire knowledge besides asking questions, such as reading books and conducting your own research. However, there is nothing wrong with asking on an online forum if other methods fail or if you're not sure about something.

I will like to know if it's slightly even possible to get insurance on your bitcoin holdings? I've heard about this before but honestly, I don't have anyone close to being doing this, maybe someone on here insured their Bitcoin or it's just a fad.

Yes, it is possible to get insurance for your Bitcoin holdings, but the availability and terms of such insurance can vary depending on the insurer and the specific policy. Some custodial platforms provide insurance coverage for crypto assets in case of a security breach or loss resulting from their failure. The insurance coverage may be complete or partial, depending on the specific platform and the terms of the insurance policy.

To learn more about Crypto Insurance, you can check out this Investopedia article: https://www.investopedia.com/crypto-insurance-5441920
1194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Survey regarding our Bitcoin Blockexplorer topic on: February 26, 2023, 05:04:37 PM
It seems you did not understand exactly what you are voting for. And, as a consequence, your vote is contradictory. You can't have "Comments" column kept together with using "hover" format. It's either one or the other.

I don't see why we couldn't have a "Comments" column along with a hover box. To use your example, I had something like this in mind when I voted:

Name (link)Bech32 / Bech32m (P2TR) supported?SegWit (P2SH) identifiable?*Usefulness (subjective rating) TongueWorks without JSRated byComments
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
BitInfoChartsYes (09/2022) / No (11/2022)No (09/2022)7 / 10 PointsPartially**ajiz138#

Courtesy of SFR10

This way, I can see the comments column and read the comment in its entirety when I hover.

The above format was proposed by SFR10. In this format "Comments" column is gone, yet comments are not gone at all. Comments are available by hovering mouse pointer over data from "Usefulness" column. This solution is elegant, as "hover" format is an exotic feature of BBCode. However, the disadvantage is that it's not useful on mobiles.

To be honest, I didn't read all the comments in the previous thread before I voted, so I didn't have all the info. In my opinion, combining the "Usefulness" and "Comments" columns into one does not seem logical.

The other option is to keep "Comments" section as it is right now and not use any "hover".

Right. And now you have a third option to consider. (Or should I have posted this in other thread?)

BTW, @1miau, why not rename the "Usefulness (subjective rating)" column to "Rating (subjective)"?
1195  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Warning CrownChange.net is likely scam. Fake bestchange partnership on: February 25, 2023, 08:04:26 PM

Great! Now we have another confirmation that CrownChange is a scam.  Cheesy

Any service that uses sock puppet accounts to promote and vouch for its own product is most likely a scam. This is not just because it looks bad, but also because it makes the service appear untrustworthy. If you are looking for a way to make money online, I suggest that you find one that does not involve using scammy tactics like this.

Nice find @JeromeTash! I supported the trust flag against @CrownChange.
1196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Survey regarding our Bitcoin Blockexplorer topic on: February 25, 2023, 07:07:58 PM
I just wanted to make sure that all voters understand what they will be voting, as probably not all of them followed the discussion from the other thread.

It seems that I am one of those voters. I voted for keeping "Comments" section and with "Yes" at third question because I would like to see them using "hover" format.  Smiley

Regarding the first question, what does a block explorer need to get a perfect score of 10/10? If we consider that Blockchair is currently the best option available, I might give it a 9/10 because, let's face it, nothing is perfect, but it is the closest to it.
1197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was he doing with 0.48 cents? on: February 25, 2023, 06:49:35 PM
Well, ten years from now, someone might say, "Hey! Check it out, this idiot sold 0.1 BTC back in 2023 for only $2,000 and some change! Can you believe Bitcoin was worth only $23k back then?"  Grin
1198  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Casino Website Development? on: February 25, 2023, 06:38:32 PM
HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL are commonly used for building websites, including those that involve user registration, login/logout, and tracking user activity such as bet history. So, they should be sufficient for creating the website you have described. However, if you want to incorporate real-time interactions, such as live chat or instant notifications, you may want to consider using Node.js or another JavaScript-based framework. Node.js can also handle server-side tasks, making it a popular choice for building web applications.

Having said that, I think it is most important to use a technology stack that you feel comfortable with and that meets the needs of your project. You can always explore other options or technologies later on if you need additional functionality or features.
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 24, 2023, 11:11:24 PM
I personally would hesitate to recommend investing in cryptocurrencies to my grandfather, as I would be concerned about the potential risks involved. He is getting up there in years, and he might not have the time or the stomach to weather the ups and downs of the crypto market. If he wants to invest his money, there are plenty of more traditional options that might be better suited to his goals and his comfort level.

I think your faith in the Bitcoin market isn't enough that you can recommend it to your grandfather.  Anyway, we have different kind on how we see things so if you think that Bitcoin is not an advisable investment for older person then I think that is good enough reason to hesitate.

Actually, I have a lot of faith in Bitcoin and everything it represents. But, when it comes to the Bitcoin market, it is not always a smooth ride. Like any other market, it can be affected by factors like regulatory changes and global economic trends. So, I think it is important to be careful and consider all the angles before diving in, especially for older folks who might be more cautious about risks and looking for more stable options. Ultimately, everyone has to make their own decision on whether or not to invest in Bitcoin or any other asset, based on their own research. That is why I said that I would hesitate to recommend investing in cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, to my grandfather. As much as I believe in the potential of Bitcoin, it is important to be realistic about the risks involved.
