This somewhat sounds like a website escrow scam.
I personally would stay away because the OP could cry fraud and have payment reversed several months down the line
Even worse: this not being a real project, the site bans both accounts for violating their terms and eats the escrow money itself. Thee are some important things that you must pay attention before saying something like this. First we can define an escrow here too, I mean you send the money to the escrow here too and until you could not received your money, do not release any money here, second the payment reverse does not work this way, specially when you withdraw your money there is NO way for reverse, but to be honest I heard about this, but suppose if everyone wants to reverse his/her payment then how can such a website have this much members? OK, even if I assume the escrow service works fine, wouldn't we violate the terms of Freelancer site by doing a transaction that falls outside of what they define as an actual job? |

MultiBit is a 'lite' client which downloads most recent block info, but is equally good & secure for most users.
Incorrect, Multibit is a SPV client which downloads the header of every block. SPV clients trust miners to enforce the network rules, full-chain client does not trust miner this way. Bitcoin Core is currently near 27 GB, headers-first synchronization should cut down the initial sync time in the next stable release (v0.10). Thanks for correcting, I didn't know that. And nice to know the next release of core wallet will cut down on initial sync time. |

Obviously its going to be so hard to find something with no wireless comms these days. But also I dont want to buy someones junk box off ebay. Ordering a computer from a stranger is rolling the dice.
I was looking at those pocket size desktops but nothing really caught my eye. Maybe I was on to the right track? It would be nice to have something running modern day OS that I could use as my air gap machine. Thanks

Mining BTC with a GPU? Maybe a couple years ago...
OP is talking about scrypt mining. Actually, this is the time of Scrypt ASIC to take over the mining, but GPU mining can still be profitable if you choose your coins carefully. For example newer algorithms like X11 use way less power than Scrypt mining. And if you're careful enough to choose a coin that will eventually be worth more in near future than it is today, you can make decent profits. But choosing a coin is a gamble after all. |

I prefer to use BTC payment address as username. Site should be publicly open. Security can't get better than this. There's no password to hack - you mine on your BTC address, period. And the side benefit is, you don't have to create accounts on numerous pools, remember them all and also worry about getting one of them hacked. |

Besides the miners that HODL since the early CPU and GPU days and besides a lucky few that bought and cashed out before the any of the last bubbles had burst, the majority only lost money.
Yesterday I was watching that documentary called "The Rise & Rise of Bitcoin" I saw how many times Bitcoin "doomed".... and rose again, like a Phoenix. |

So i posted in another forum and this is what someone told me and want your opinion on this. I mentioned that i kept over $10000 in 5dimes previously and they said if i kept that much in a sportsbook online, then i shouldn't have any issue with keeping over $10000 in coinbase. Do you guys agree/disagree with this statement? For me, i would feel safer keeping $25000 on 5dimes then even $5000 on coinbase/blockchain based on what i had read about it here recently.
Honestly I don't have any experience with 5dimes, but Coinbase and Blockchain are considered to be one of the safest and trusted platforms. Blockchain.info had some security glitch that exposed private keys of some users, but it has been apparently been fixed now. But then again, $10,000 is a great deal of amount to keep online; regardless of the platform is trusted or not. |

Don't bother, support is dead. The admin of Microwallet has disappeared recently, so you either get a payout or you don't. That's a pity. I've used this service in past and it was a nice way of accumulate your tiny earnings. Is there any good and trusted alternative to this service? Faucetbox or Paytoshi are pretty trusted at the moment, but you can only use those with Faucets that support them. If you're getting money from Microwallet faucets, you can only withdraw using Microwallet. Thanks. I stopped using faucets few months ago (they were a waste of time anyway). But for people still using faucets, I hope most faucets now switch from Microwallet to the services you mentioned. Otherwise people will watch plenty of ads and type CAPTCHAS for nothing. |

I am interested in creating my own dice/gambling site (like Primedice and Just-Dice) and my own altcoin exchange (like Cryptsy and Poloniex). Does anyone know how passive such sites are? For example, writing a novel is passive income because once you write it and find a publisher, you don't need to do any work for the money to keep rolling in. Another type of passive income is a rental property - especially if you have a property manager, and automated trading where you write the trading bot and it does all the trading for you. Most large businesses also generate passive income for their owners.
So how passive is a dice site/altcoin exchange? Could I write a site using PHP and Javascript, announce it here on the forums, and then leave it alone and still get money? Since it would all be automated and the site will automatically skim the profits from the house edge or trading fees, am I correct in assuming that I won't need to do anything further other than maybe check to see how it's going every once in a while?
It all depends on the amount of traffic you receive. But considering even minimum traffic (a few BTC volume on alt-coin trading), you can't just sit back on the couch and watch the show. Such sites require regular maintenance, updates and security checks to ensure users don't get hacked. Also, given your username, I recommend naming your sites differently. Mt. Gox does not go well with most people here. |

Then you should avoid BitcoinQT (core wallet) and try MultiBit (multibit.org). It takes only a few seconds to sync and use. Why ? Does BitcoinQT require to DL the blockchain ? Yes, BitcoinQT downloads the whole blockchain data, which is usually several GB. MultiBit is a 'lite' client which downloads most recent block info, but is equally good & secure for most users. |

I would second what Farmer17 said below: I won't send it directly with emails. If you need your bitcoin urgently I would suggest you to ask someone to further encrypt the file (using 7zip, winrar, or whatever software you trust) before sending it, and ofc don't include that encryption password in the email.
A password-protected wallet put inside a password-protected ZIP file is double security. Then you can send it over the email. Of course, don't include the ZIP password in the email, just ask over the phone. And if you're still paranoid: when you receive the wallet, you can transfer the funds to a new address immediately to start with a fresh wallet. |
