Merging is disabled for the most part, but there is a way to merge topics and I do use it occasionally, usually when someone makes duplicates of threads in different child boards and they all have replies that I don't want to delete. And yes, theymos knows about the workaround I use to do it.

Newbie section is a mishmash of everything, it's to be expected. Only stuff I really focus on moving out of there is services/advertising/etc and altcoins.

To be specific, I'm referring to "Post in this thread for free x". That belongs in Games and Rounds. Though it isn't limited to that, in general you shouldn't be giving people incentives to post in your thread, it's disruptive to actual discussion.

You don't need to be logged in for 4 hours anymore, just has to have been 4 hours since your first post. You guys should try reading the stickied readme instead of going by what another newbie told you. Reading a little upfront will save you a lot of time and hassle in the future in many ways.
When did that change BadBear? You mean to tell me I went through all the trouble of making this thread and posting multiple times for nothing! Bastards! Stop changing shit around and maybe we'll fucking know what the rules are. I'm going to test it and make 50 accounts with one post and try them again tomorrow. You're making account sales so easy. On the contrary, it's making account sales worthless, who's going to bother buying a newbie account when it's so easy?

Logging in counts as an action, same as posting.

When people report spammers, I tend to mark the report as handled (unless I just flat out disagree) even if I don't delete or act on that particular post. I do think it's a good thing to bring those people to our attention, and I appreciate the report for that. Though not all the mods may feel that way, so YMMV.

Ok, I understand you had some good reasons to perm-ban him.
Now, if I was to ask for a thread asking for operators to post some evidences (and quotes of private discussions) before permanently banning someone, so you can just have a peaceful feedback, would that be too much, too?
I'd just like to be able to check the trial report when I realize someone's been banned for ever.
As for this, while I can appreciate you wanting to see more transparency, fact of the matter is you won't have access to the information you need to make an informed decision, so it would be a waste of everyone's time. You likely won't be able to see what they were banned for, as it's been deleted. Even if you did see it you would be missing the context, or it isn't even anything specific, more of a straw that broke the camel's back situation, or it's from something in pms, etc. You would also be missing information about previous warnings, bans, previously deleted posts (which count as a warning in some cases). Also there's the privacy issue, if Salty gets banned for repeatedly posting granny porn, is that really any of your business? Or is it between us and them?

That was 2 1/2 months ago.

Not by asking for it. I'm 99% sure you're a scammer already just because of that.

yes we need some laws and stick moderation to stop many scams happening in last few days
No we don't need laws and more moderation to stop scams, people need to stop being greedy and start taking responsibility for their actions. Banning doesn't help, ips are easy to change, so are emails, and accounts are free to create. People are too used to others saving them from their own stupidity.

Any way you could reconsider crumbs, please?
He was given consideration many times, I even took the time to give him yet another warning instead of banning him before actually banning him when he continued. How many warnings should one get before banning? 8? 9? 20? How much time do we need to waste before it's clear that it's a waste of time? I liked crumbs, he brought up good points often, but he couldn't help but troll and disrupt conversations at the same time. It's too bad really.

Oh I'm sorry BadTroll didn't mean to bother you as you have been so very helpful. I can see how much of an asset your mod skills are around here and I wouldn't want to disturb that..
Even though you just admited you don't control if my account gets unbanned you say I have to deal with it and move on also you continue to insist I was spamming which is false. Your reply only shows why I contacted SaltySpitoon and not you. Saying I had was evading a ban is laughable. Your a joke, get over yourself and get a life.
Yep, waste of time.

I've been searching around the internet about how activity count is calculated in SMF after I noticed that my activity count wasn't increasing. I finally found this post after accidentally selecting the wrong sub-forum. *banging head at my own stupidity* I thought activity was an invention here not smf It was, that's why he made that entire post. Reading is FUNdamental. Are you sure you aren't being paid per post for your sig, and not monthly as you claim?
|
|
|
Salty can't help you and neither can I. And no it's not likely you're going to be unbanned so you can claim your spam payments. You're gonna have to deal with it and move on, and just be glad this account hasn't been banned as well for ban evasion. I don't know how much more clearly that point can be made. Being ignored isn't a lack of an answer, it IS your answer. Stop trying to waste our time.

They go in gambling, or games and rounds if people are required to post in the thread to participate.
|
|
|
Oh. Well I find it more entertaining than another thread about avatars or whatever. I'm actually surprised it's taken this long to get a thread complaining, there have been quite a few banned so far. I guess most are too embarrassed to post, or know they don't have a leg to stand on.
