1381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The History of Bingo on: February 19, 2023, 09:54:11 PM
Not sure though if there is a casino that listed bingo in their platform.

But here in our country, bingo games is very popular as it is being played when there is like a an event with festivities (fiesta). Yes, another kind of games that is so fun and exciting specially during last games that we call "blackout" wherein you have to marked all the numbers in your cards.

I'm not a fan of this game though to be honest.  Grin
I used to play bingo way back then, but honestly I have not played it since I became fond of casino games, not sure too if it’s included there. But you know what, bingo is still very popular here in my country even without special events like fiesta, and most of those who played are the elder people who consider this game as their leisure time. Even in my neighborhood before, there won’t be a day that they will not play bingo outside their house so once you can pass in their area, you can really witness how those people are very fond in gambling.
1382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 19, 2023, 11:50:55 AM
Match fixing is an issue mainly in developing countries. Most of it is organised by mafia that also involves in drug trade, illegal weapon trade etc. This type of things never get old. Its very hard to avoid match fixing if your country permits completely legal sports betting options. I don't call for them making it illegal but sometimes its impossible to detect. I am pretty sure this match fixing issue happened in Brazil is only visible side of "iceberg". Noone knows what happens at other side, in deep.
Match fixing is obviously has not gone up to these days, and it becomes even more rampant especially that sportsbetting gained high demand for most of the gamblers. The bad thing is those rigged games seem even more legal than those non-rigged games. Worst thing is it leaves serious implication for sports at all levels. And I believe it’s not only Brazil that has been involved in sportsbetting fraud but also Australia, China and Spain as they have been investigated too concerning match fixing issues.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Eimantas Stanionis vs Vergil Ortiz Jr - April 29 on: February 19, 2023, 11:05:24 AM
Here is Vergil Ortiz highlights, knock out of all of his opponents,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwSzeQzgLfI

Obviously, you can see and even hear the power when it touches his opponents whether on face or in the body. The way he punch them though in the body is very different, it's like a straight right, not the one that we usually show like a left hook to the body. And I think the straight might be more devastating because his opponents will usually take a knee and can't get up in time.
That is why Ortiz Jr is considered to be a dangerous opponent and that is obviously seen from his performances inside the ring. Once he starts giving his powerful punch, he won’t stop punching his opponent until he knock him down. And that’s why Stanionis should learn how to defend himself more, otherwise his opponent will leave him losing his consciousness because of Ortiz Jr hard punch.
1384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: February 19, 2023, 10:19:33 AM
so whoever wins, If crypto-friendly and doesn't like the war, I will support him.

He may not support war but that doesn't mean there won't be one. If China attacks Taiwan, or if North Korea attack the South there will be a war in which the US will take part, despite of whoever they choose to be the president. There will also be a war if Russia uses nukes or of Russia attacks a NATO country...
IMO Biden has no chance for reelection. He's too old and is proving to be weak. A weak president makes the country look weak.
If China cannot take control of Taiwan, then most likely a war is going to happen, and US should be prepared for it. Maybe it’s just a bonus if the next President will be able to control the pressure and make the right approach so that  everything will not end up in war. But if Biden will still win, I doubt he can stop a war with China. And yes, he’s too old for a re-election but Biden seems too determined to run again, and the citizens have no control when it comes to that.
1385  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Experience with bitcoin on: February 18, 2023, 10:18:49 PM
Hello James
Welcome to bitcointalk forum

Your experience is not very special since thousands were like you and lost part of their savings after the price collapse.  All it takes is to give the experiment more time for prices to recover.  What you can really regret is that in the early years of Bitcoin, you were among the first to hear about it, but you did not pay enough attention to it, and it cost you years after that to know its value and realize that you missed opportunities that may never return again in the same way.
Well, I guess that’s part of the journey missing some good opportunities at first but eventually, you will still end up with bitcoin. The good thing about bitcoin is that there will be no early or late in investing, just as you decide to start investing because you are now aware on how potential it is and you really understand how that investment works, which I think is much better than to just end up quitting without giving it a chance to recover some of your losses and maybe this time it may start to work. Remember that when you invest, you will not really be profitable at first without dealing those hardships at first and letting you struggle at first.
1386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: investing for beginners must be large capital or small capital. on: February 18, 2023, 09:58:59 PM
I am a beginner in bitcoin and crypto, I want to ask all of you, do you have to invest in crypto with small capital or large capital? in my opinion, if our invest in crypto for beginners and invest with large capital, it seems that if you fail, you will experience big losses, but if you make a profit, it will definitely be big, so what do you think?
Bitcoin investment has its high risks so definitely, investing at a small capital for beginners may be a good decision. Because we all know that investing does not only end up in profits, but most likely there will be inevitable losses in our first months of investment. And when eventually the investment prospers, maybe we will consider increasing our capital knowing we are also becoming more wise about it.
1387  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto aid for Turkey exceeds $4.5M in one week on: February 18, 2023, 09:48:18 PM
Quote
After three significant earthquakes struck Turkey, a Turkish singer Haluk Levent persuaded the country’s financial watchdog (MASAK) to allow collecting crypto donations, which is currently illegal in the country.

MASAK allowed three crypto wallets to collect donations for a week. Wallets belong to Levent, who publishes all significant contributions and expenses on his Twitter account.
Let's see how it's going to be the approach of the government towards cryptocurrencies once this crisis is solved. The donations might have some impact on the views of government, after all, cryptos are being an useful tool to help turkish citizens and authorities may want to be thankful for that, finally accepting the positive potential they can have in a society, including during crisis times like the one Turkey is suffering right now.
Probably, their whole perspective will be changed. They will start to be more open-minded about the potentials of bitcoin and how it will be beneficial especially in times economy’s breakdown. Most likely, they will consider now to legalize bitcoin but of course, the process might also take long since they will still have to study about it and consider it’s advantages and disadvantages.
1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Awareness needed, 100$ or Bitcoin??? on: February 18, 2023, 09:24:54 PM
Came across this video in which a person questions whether they prefer to take 100$ or Bitcoin. The kids never took time, all of the sudden chosen 100$. I'm not specific about the location this had taken place, but it looks like they're are Western people. This makes me think, awareness is not upto the mark and in all means we need to educate people. Even the Western young generation unaware of it is really unbelievable.

100$ or Bitcoin
Education will always be important so that we will be able to distinguish the real value of a thing. Most especially when it comes to finances, at least we should gain knowledge about it, not just a simple awareness. Not only for adults, but even those kids should also be educated about cryptocurrency most particularly about bitcoin since it will be a future global currency years from now. Familiarity is not enough, they should also be educated at least.
1389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ego and too much confidence are dangerous in investing. on: February 17, 2023, 09:41:51 PM
2021 I started my journey here in crypto, I was lucky because I was able to invest in other cryptos before it went all the way up. NFTs, P2E games, airdrops and hyped shitcoins lol. Of course I earned a lot and since it's my first time I became very confident thinking I'm so smart lol Grin. I have more money to spare, so I end up investing left and right carelessly thinking i will earn more but the truth is majority of those i have invested are lost money because of bear market, scam projects and rugpulled shitcoins. I think I am not for crypto Sad.
You cannot tell you’re not meant for crypto just by experiencing your first losses, that’s part of the game. But let me tell you, having too much confidence in crypto is not good at all since it will develop an attitude that you know everything in crypto when in fact you’re not. And focusing on your ego is also not helping too. Instead, teach yourself to consistently learning in crypto, that way you will know how to value your investment and how to make them work.
1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your limit on: February 17, 2023, 09:19:03 PM
Avoid ending up like a friend, who used all the money he has to invest in bitcoin and also took a loan, promising the lender that he will pay back when he gets paid in a month, after a month he never received the salary, I warned him doing this, because he has no doubt mixed investment with 'whatever it takes', is it safe to call this greed? I don't know.

Now he wants me to lend him some money to at least pay the loaner back and later settle me, there is more, now I have to send him some money to buy some food.

You don't have to use all your money to invest, even if you are not married yet or have other responsibilities, the best approach when planning to invest in Bitcoin is to buy with some percentage of the money you earning, maybe through business or a job.

If you do this weekly or monthly you won't feel any pressure, always remember that health is wealth.

The problem is your friend do not realized all of these, instead he invest everything he got and now he’s starting to suffer the consequences of his decision, and it seems he wants to obliged you in helping him out from this picture. I don’t want to say go on and help him because he needs you now, but instead help him realize his mistakes and eventually learn from it. Then he can understand you if you leave him solve his own problem if that’s the only way he will learn.
1391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't have high expectations in the crypto world. on: February 17, 2023, 08:48:07 PM
You'll be disappointed if you have absurdly high expectations, and this doesn't solely apply to cryptocurrencies but to life in general. Be realistic, and everything will turn out fine. The issue with cryptocurrencies is that media coverage made them look like a get-rich-quick scheme after portraying some early success stories. The truth is that there are people, even in this forum, who have made or are still making huge money through cryptocurrencies. However, chances are that the majority of us won't manage something like that, and this is where expectations fall through, which is why we need to be as realistic as possible to avoid feeling that disappointment.
It may also be known to us that crypto is not just life changing because of millions of profits you can gained from it, but it can also be a reason to turn your life upside down because you chose to deal with crypto the wrong way. The reason why setting high expectations are also not helping since it can lead us to frustrations and even anxiety. So live your life according to its realities. That way, you don’t have to exert much efforts especially in some things that you know won’t work in the end.
1392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin gambling problem on: February 17, 2023, 08:09:59 PM
@OP thank you for the link, it is indeed a very informative website.  It caters to knowledge about gambling addiction, its signs, and determining if one have gambling addiction.  What's best is the service is free as @OP stated.

Hopefully it will be useful website for addicted gamblers who suffer from controlling limits. The more you chase losses, the worse it goes as confirmed by experienced gamblers. Knowing your limits and not pushing your luck may be solution for short time frame but in the long term professional help is needed, IMHO. Thanks for spreading helpful tools on this forum board, it must be nice to know you help strangers who share same problems.

From the information on the site alone, I can say it is a great help.  Plus they provide 24/7 services to advise people in need.  they also have a community of experienced people that were once addicted to gambling and are now rehabilitated and going back to normal living.
This is a useful site indeed. Although I should say that I still have no serious problems when it comes to gambling as I only gamble occasionally, but for those who are badly facing serious gambling problems these days, the said link should be a good start. But most importantly, know your limits in gambling. You don’t have to gamble everything you have, as gambling will always be gambling and have no guarantees that it will give good returns for us.
1393  Economy / Economics / Re: How to thrive with low income in a humble area on: February 16, 2023, 09:55:11 PM
* Don't forget to spend only a teeny tiny of money on wants, and only buy wants when you have a budget oversupply. Needs first — always.

* Increase your income. Saving can do so much.
That is the basic thing, not to spend on wants but needs should come in as priority. And if you can live as simple as it seems to be, then do it and never live setting your high standards as it will only make you spend unnecessarily and worst you become drown in debt. And as much as possible, always have varieties of sources of income, that way you will gain financial freedom later on.
1394  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Currency trading without knowledge on: February 16, 2023, 09:36:36 PM
I would say that "It was not the best decision". We can't just throw money too easily and that much more if that is hard-earned money because we can't just put trading like gambling where we rely on luck otherwise, forget about trading.

Having a basic knowledge of trading is the very least requirement and even using trading bots won't simply work. We have to consider and invest first in knowledge for this is the tool to success or else, losses are only what we get. I don't think that is what we wanted to happen, so we don't need to push ourselves if we are not already ready for this.
It’s useless to trade without knowledge and just expect losses afterwards. You should have not trade at all if that is the case. But we can’t really deny the fact that a lot of traders are trading without basic knowledge and skills, because of their greed for money since they always assume that trading will result into profiting that’s why even those who don’t understand much about trading are still trying their luck to trade and expect good returns which I think are only rare to happen.
1395  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My perceived unconscious benefit of bitcointalk. on: February 16, 2023, 09:14:13 PM
Not sure about you guys — but while I love Bitcointalk, it's funny how much unnecessary praise-posts it's getting lmao. We're getting cult-like.
Well, we all know if those praises are true or not, maybe just for the sake of the topic that’s why a lot are already making some unnecessary praise posts just to contribute to the discussion. But I believed this forum deserves a lot of praises due to the limitless knowledge we have learned from it. And if we keep on reading and learning here, for sure it will help us to be more motivated to be successful in the forum provided that we also follow the right mindset to be a successful investor or trader.
1396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helped my neighbor to purchase some Bitcoins on: February 13, 2023, 07:32:06 PM
Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't agree to buy bitcoins for him, he said he was ready to take the risk and take responsibility because he was very excited and wanted to own bitcoin at the time. Maybe you mention the risks, but he won't understand because he hasn't experienced it, and if unfortunately, the investment loses, he will most likely come back to blame you because it was you who took the money to buy bitcoins, not him.

Try to teach him all the necessary knowledge about bitcoin so that he better understands the pros and cons of investing in bitcoin, only when he understands it can't blame you.
It’s a good start that you educate him about bitcoin and the risks associated in it, and you helped him creating his own wallet as it’s always basic that not his keys, not his coins. However, you should have warned him too that there are possibilities that he might lose afterwards if the market suddenly collapse and drop the price and tell him frankly that you are not liable for whatever losses that he may incur. At least, that will be more clear for him that he should be responsible of his own investment, and not just rely on someone else for his final decision.
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Favorite Play’n Go Games and Experience on: February 13, 2023, 07:01:43 PM
I can tell you that Play'n Go is a well-known provider of online casino games, including slot machines, with a reputation for creating high-quality and engaging games. The high multiplier you achieved on Rise of Olympus is not uncommon for slot games, which frequently offer the possibility of large payouts and exciting gameplay experiences.
However, it should be noted that the outcome of slot games is determined by random chance and cannot be predicted. While you may have had a good time playing new Play'n Go slot games, it's important to remember to gamble responsibly and set limits for yourself.
I played these games numerous times, but I never received a large multiplier.
I guess it all goes for all types of gambling, not just for slots alone but even in sportsbetting as well. You have to always gamble at your own risk. Otherwise, you’ll be left with huge losses that will eventually make you financially broken. Nevertheless, playing slots with Play’n Go might also really tempting especially if you have the feeling that you are certainly lucky today and you would chase that luck to attract more profits. Although I am now setting limits from playing slots, but playing with your spare money is always fine and still exciting.
1398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What most gamblers do. on: February 13, 2023, 06:27:57 PM
The problem here is that OP is assuming that the gamblers don't have savings, and I do not agree with that declaration. Not all gamblers are alike, some of them play it smart and know how to save some when they hit a big win.

Those who don't have savings are people who feel like they don't have anything to lose. And when they win big they spend all that money and do not save a penny, then they will be broke until another big win comes. That's how they roll. Risk it all to go big or go home.
Definitely, not all gamblers have the same mindset. While others play to earn and immediately save some of their winnings, some are very reluctant to save because they think that saving will not grow their money, so might as well gamble it as there are still chances to get lucky and win bigger amount. Yet in the end, they lose all their money and got broke totally. So saving is always a choice, because you know with gambling there are no guarantees to keep on winning the whole time.
1399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rejecting odd provider's limit on: February 13, 2023, 05:59:26 PM
I doubt bookmakers do it this way, because bookies would not easily or even be able to disclose their user data to their business rivals unless they are sister sites.
The way gambling sites work to be able to catch a suspicious account is more complicated than we think, only by using a different email the gambling site can find other oddities because surely they have many benchmarks before concluding that the user will be hit by a limit.
That's right, I think using an email is not a good thing to do because as much as many email addresses he will create still if he is living in a same roof with same internet connection his IP will be the same. Online casino can banned someone from accessing their website using their IP, but based on cyber crime law they should not disclose any info or data of a certain person. But who knows maybe somehow these casinos can tip each and everyone that a certain player is cheating or abusing some bugs of their website.
It’s possible that casinos have also their way of connection since they are in the same line of business, so if you are blacklisted in the other casino due to your unethical behavior, then it may be possible that you will be investigated too in the new casino you are going to register. Most especially if these casinos are affiliated with each other, then the more that you will be caught personally. However, in case if you provide different KYC details to different casinos, but you are using the same IP address, then you will still be question for that. Also, seeing you play with the same patterns, then you will be subject for investigation for sure.
1400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Features in Crypto Casinos for the Elderly on: February 13, 2023, 05:13:25 PM
You can deposit some coins to your uncle's account on a crypto casino, I think he can already manage to do it on his own. You just have to remind him to be careful in pasting BTC addresses in withdrawing.
...

You can't teach an old dog new tricks so easily. I think OP should set him up completely, from creating a wallet and registration to making first bets, and in case he makes some profit he needs to show him how to withdraw.

I would like to hear the rest of this story... some old habits are hard to change, especially in old age. I think it's not just gambling, but the ritual of going to the casino, meeting old friends, and all the other stuff that goes with getting out of the house. I wonder if he will make a shift to crypto gambling or if he will find it less interesting and go back to brick-and-mortar casinos.
I would agree to this that teaching an over-the-hill person is not easy and should be needing a longer time for him to understand like teaching him from the very basic up to the most complicated part. I guess that is important so that he won’t be making mistakes when he’s already betting. However, since he’s fond of brick-and-mortar casinos, I guess this will be a challenge for him to start embracing what is new and is of high demand. But if he will be well guided by OP, I think that will be a lot of help for him so he can gamble confidently.
