1481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How will this change the world of mining?? GTX 1080 / 1070 on: May 20, 2016, 03:10:04 PM
should ask how will amd top it and they will then nvidia will, as for mining i hope we get more coins like eth so i have a excuse to make a 9 card miner Smiley. Video card mining  might just make a come back and stay, not with bitcoins but if we can do it with video cards again why not .I would very much welcome it .
1482  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITMAIN!! Make a 200-400 Watt miner!! on: May 20, 2016, 12:20:18 AM
Who says we want to mine anything other than bitcoin? Some people don't support altcoins.
Or you could easily be like me and many others you want a bit on all spectrums. I am running 4 of your sticks during the summer (an S5*, avalon* and an s3*
(*in the winter for heat)), 2 moonlanders, and 5 gpu's running Eth, 5 750ti, 3 960 for feathercoin. I do this all in an apartment, so I spread the power and the hashes to many algo's as I can. It is for fun most of it.

I do it all to but would love to see some more of bit main stuff priced for home use and not be told by others suck up it, deal with it or how ever you want to put it or what way  .

Same, most of it is for fun but that doesn't mean I/we can't have update to stuff either . That extra champ change or what ever anyone wants to call it i might get, does come in handy from time to time.
1483  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITMAIN!! Make a 200-400 Watt miner!! on: May 19, 2016, 08:21:45 PM
Why?

There are better ways to throw away your money.

Exactly. Don't bother with mining if you don't have free electricity at all. It just doesn't make sense at the moment and also it doesn't worth the trouble. Find a way to get free electricity only after then start mining.

spazzdla will burn his money how he sees fit.

yup fuck them it's not there life or money .
1484  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITMAIN!! Make a 200-400 Watt miner!! on: May 19, 2016, 07:32:04 PM
Some people like to spend money on fast cars or craft beers or shoes or any number of things many consider useless. Some people want to spend money on home-scale mining gear many consider useless.

I think of it like buying wrenches instead of taking a car to a mechanic. Some people like being more self-sufficient.

why can't more see it this way it has nothing to do with RoI but does which if we had these kind of miners  everyone would have and kept the differently down and slowly increased it and bitmain Polly would have  made more, they shut out a whole different group of buyer with the S7 to me said fuck you pretty much and (were just starting to see who really cares),they all ready had the market. so when  I say : not every one worries about ROI and they come back with BS excuses, i don't say anything because no mater what i say there right ... and  2 post below yours proves that thought .

1485  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is it normal for a DPS-1200FB to be VERY loud? on: May 19, 2016, 12:34:27 AM
i all most never use this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-1300W-Power-Supply-For-DL580-ML570-G3-G4-DL585-G6-Model-HSTNS-PA01-/121877616047?hash=item1c6078d5af:g:My4AAOSwL7VWqVeq

it's a nice Psu but so annoying and very loud .
it's for back up.
once it's plugged in the fan goes non stop even at a low speed it could wake up the house on idle
1486  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is it normal for a DPS-1200FB to be VERY loud? on: May 19, 2016, 12:19:54 AM
mine aren't  once it's turned on and goes tho the power up for maybe 5 mins it's very loud, then i never hear it again. I guess what it's doing is some kind of adjustment i run my two off a 240 line .one had two miners plugged into it at one time it maybe used a 1000 watts or little more.now one powers a Avalon 4.1 overclocked to 1.24 th or so . and other one powers a C1 .
1487  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: May 18, 2016, 03:57:28 PM
Is there some kind of april fool-like equivalent thing in China or something? This is silly as hell. o.O

works for cheap power guy that wants a quieter miner.  but so does unplugging a board on a real s-7 then down clock the two left from freq 700 to freq 500

Hmm. I think for a cheap power guy that wants a quiet miner, you'd want a severely undervolted version and not those fans. When i looked at the price, i told myself:
"I dont see any upside, if i was to throw money away, i'd buy a S7 and underclock that, which would give better results, I think."

On the small amount of "free" electricity i have, i have been running my now obsolete S3/S5 on silent or aftermarket fans.

I don't know maybe this fill a niche somewhere and i just don't see it.

same my power cost is kind of free i just never really admitted it or said so because i pay it back in other costs i pay in my house like cable phone etc . i don't have to but do any way and it's few 100 a month and even pay half the power bill from time to time, on top of rent food the normal stuff .

that's exactly why i keep running s3 s5 and a4 etc even some old ass script miner thu i just retied one took it a part and thu away the inside, molded the case some then put in more up to date script miner boards .
I like doing bitcoin and alt coins one can and does off set the other.
1488  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Noisy RM850 on a S5 on: May 17, 2016, 12:21:26 AM
can you return it ?

Yes. I have to it seem.

You sure its not coil whine? Some PSUs with some miners or GPUs having bad coil whine.

Well it does the noise even before the miner start mining, at minimal load. And it shut down itself after a few hours, now.

can you return it ?

On newegg getting a replacement is really easy on RMA in most cases.  Not sure how easy it will be to get a flat return though.

It was refurbished so i'm not quite sure what they will send back but i hope i have some kind of revision with the RM850 fixed, otherwise i won't be able to mine much with it heh.

you may get a refund it should tell you in the RMA or return policy, most refurbished stuff is refunded from new egg at least for me it has been refunded back, no replacement.

i have two of those PSU, i got really good deals on a while back off Amazon Warehouse, Ive had mine for all most two years now with no issues.

my two came out right after the bad ones did so i was luckily i guess .!!!

I think it safe to say this works , after three hours no major issue other then normal mining issue's we all deal with :

Hello my friends,
what do you think about a new way to manage your miners?

I mean a way to use multiple miner softwares in the same system, without the need to connect locally to your system but having all your systems and miners in a public website where you can access from everywhere and every device with your user and give access to other users and have email/sms notification when something goes wrong and a lot of new other stuff like this.

Would you like it? Would you spend a bit for it?

Well, stay tuned guys, things are moving :-)

I'm in, ill donate to the cause over time !!!. hopefully with no adds or some way to have them removed I really really hate annoying adds  and all ways looks for a way to remove them, if there is no way to remove them then i don't use it or go back that's how much i hate adds.

will we still have minera ? .
1492  Economy / Computer hardware / Alchemist cables made custom on: May 14, 2016, 10:47:39 PM
I need either some advice or custom cables made for 6 Alchemist miner board to plug from the on board UART to 6 USB  Dongles with pins RX, TX, DTR or RTS and GND . i finally got my Alchemist 256 miner working I bought with a dead controller now it's running  off a PI with the help of jstefanop !!!! .

The cables from the controller to the boards i tried slicing but it didn't seem to work to well i would like better cables any way. so if any of  you kind bit coiners can link some thing with advice or can make what i need pst me with a price or point me in the right direction.

I plan to sell two of the eight boards once i make sure all eight work as a set with a pi etc etc  .

1493  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What temp do you consider to be actual max for your miner(s)? on: May 14, 2016, 08:37:16 PM
for me i panic if I  see one miner i have i can see temps in the software go close to 60 c so to me 60 is my  max that's anytime of year .!!!!
1494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 14, 2016, 07:51:57 PM
it seems for me running on the titan pool with my a Alchemist 256 miner board makes it run better atm im running one Alchemist miner board off a PI and self powered hub and it's running more stable on the titan port : 3444 over the normal port : 3333.

at this speed setting --set ALC:clock=304 that's one board off a hub plugged into a PI.

it very stable

yea minera image wont boot, the raspbian jessie lite boots fine.... its not just minera, its minepeon, scripta images as well.

minera just needs a new kernel for the quad core.

im using it with RPI 2 and 3 both are quad core it boots fine for me .

but i usually manually install it with ubuntu 15  16 etc   but it worked two day ago with no issue , i used the per made image.
1497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Alchemist updated support added for RPI with a broke controler on: May 11, 2016, 03:32:55 AM
here's the new support added i paid for Smiley it started from this thread the other day

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1452931.0

I want nothing in return if you feel the need to donate, donate to jstefanop he deserves it more.

I paid and got what i wanted + i want to share it . Right now im stuck till i get the right dongles sent . mine that were sent have no rts pin even thu the add said it did sigh i made sure with my new ones coming, I  was kind of ass hole to the sellers for the miss info,

jstefanop:

Ok I added very rough support for the boards to be run with the USB->UART dongles with my bfgminer driver on a Rpi. I have not tested this as I don't have a spare board or dongle to test but this *should* work. Steps to get it running below

-Clone this branch off my repo: https://github.com/jstefanop/bfgminer/tree/alcheminer_USB-Dongle_Support
-Build on pi using same bfgminer build instructions in my alchminer thread (let me know if there are compilation errors)
-Connect the pins from the dongle to the alcheminer boards...you need to connect the reset pin from the board to the RTS pin on the dongle (also remember to reverse the TX-RX pins)
-Use the same command line options to start bfgminer and specify the -S /dev/ serial port your dongle is assigned too, and add the following option to turn on the USB dongle mode  --set ALC:mode=1

Let me know if it works!
'
toptek:
I Added this from his post on the ltc forums with some tweaks I use or what i call them : https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=27370.0

Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncurses5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libevent-dev

sudo git clone --branch alcheminer_USB-Dongle_Support https://github.com/jstefanop/bfgminer.git

Code:
cd .
cd bfgminer
./autogen.sh

you may need more library's as well depending on if you use ubuntu 16 standard server for the RPI 2and 3 for
Code:
./autogen.sh
to work right if there is a issue try this

Code:
sudo apt-get -y install git-core build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncursesw5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libevent-dev libmicrohttpd-dev

Code:
sudo chmod +x ./configure
./configure CFLAGS=-O3 --enable-scrypt --enable-alchemist --disable-other-drivers --enable-broad-udevrules

sudo make
sudo make install

Then plug all the cables etc into each board to the right dongle pins like this :UART connect on the hash boards is labeled 1-6 Pin 1 is RX, 2 TX, 5 GND, 6 Board Reset , on the dongle : reverse the TX-RX pins : so like this TX to RX and RX to TX on the dongle form the hash board , GND to GND , RTS to RTS then to your 8 to 10 port self powered hub and plug the hub in to one of the USB ports on your RPI, turn on the miner then type.

Code:
sudo ldconfig
lsusb

That should list what USB port is being used .

then run BFG with the right USB ports set up some thing like this:

Code:
cd .
cd bfgminer
./bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://   -u  -p x -S ALC:all --set ALC:clock=320 --set ALC:mode=1

Valid clock ranges are between 200-400 with multiples of 16 (so  320, 336, 352 etc)

I'm guessing but will know, when they do what they did with S5 lowed them a lot and marked them as used with a 30 day warranty,  this batch of S7 I didn't see marked as used and still have the 90 day warranty unless i missed it

im willing to bet they will go even lower just before we see the S9.

1. A 90-day warranty is provided starting from the shipping date. Overclocking the miner will void the warranty immediately.

if you have two rasp berry pi they both should come with there own SD cards if you bought a rpi kit just burn it to that rpi etc if you paid to have adds removed, you will have to do it on each pi you install minera on but once you do it's always with out adds on that pi unless you get ride of that PI then buy another type of PI, once you know or understand how to manually install it all then drop Mich a line hell fix it but once you pay for adds free it stays that way .

The minera image comes with all you need ,once you get a handle on the whole idea it only gets better use it if you like minera that way till you understand it better Smiley.
