1641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Washington State Became a Battleground for Bitcoin Mining on: March 21, 2016, 07:34:04 PM
http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-miners-public-utility-spar-over-electrical-costs/

Quote
"We feel like it's a bait and switch."

That's Michael Cao, CEO of bitcoin mining firm ZoomHash, one of a number of bitcoin miners currently involved in a months-long dispute over power costs with a public utility provider in Chelan County, Washington.

Cao isn't alone. Other bitcoin miners in the region say they were drawn by promises of cheap power, a circumstance that's now subject to possible change.

...A moratorium on high-density load customers, which includes bitcoin mining firms, has been in place since December 2014 and is set to expire in October, by which time the PUD intends to have a rate increase plan firmly in place.

The utility is currently weighing a plan to raise rates for customers that use more than 250 kilowatt-hours per square foot or more annually, a move that would include the power-hungry bitcoin mines in Chelan. This would mean a power cost of roughly five cents per kilowatt hour, or about double what they pay now.

I read that, don't feel bad it's every were B G and E hopes to make us pay for everything in Maryland and nothing out there packets they made last year for there investor alone 275 million in profits no loses according to what some fed agency reported and they want more, they sure as hell don't need it if they made that for there investor , how much did  BG and E make in profits above that, no one has saved but the power company's which have to much control, now they claim they need to recover cost for there smart meters, no one in this state asked for it or wanted, but a few and that was the ones that made millions from it or will .

i feel they did it, they should eat it and use what they have. which is kind the same out there they don't want to give up a thing and will force stuff on you all, so they can get more, they really don't care about any thing like they claim, in the post form coin desk if you noticed when they were asked what's there cost is was it said ? . not really in any detail and never will be unless it's leaked some how .
1642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin survive world war III? on: March 21, 2016, 07:04:32 PM
well first of all i honestly believe that people are smart enough not to start such stuff once again so im pretty sure there wont be such thing in the future

but if the ww3 happened and there would be any survivors im pretty sure bitcoin could still be mined by solving easy math problems on paper as its difficulty would drop really hard

Yup, if there is WW3 there will be nothing left pretty much or we will all most kill our self off the weapons we have to day and they had in the first two war's well there is not much to compare to imo . but that's how i see it . I'm glad we kind of had control over the a bomb ( the US ) or we would be done, by now . yes i know were that came form or what country.

as you say it would Polly all be done on paper and pin, there won't be networks like we have now , bitcoins would live on etc in a different way ..... but be worth any thing at that point, remains to be seen .

why should gold have more value than bitcoin in a nuclear war like that, if anything nothing will have value, if not the essential things like foods and water

The only reason gold would have more value is you can see it, hold it, and bitcoins are virtual, other wise they Polly would be our trading, money, cash etc but with no way to make them and trade them > network ,they would be worthless and we would lose our internet and all else in WW 3. you can bet food and water will be the top things for any one and everyone to seek out, that's means more fighting over control for what might be left etc etc.

hey Optimizer

forgot to ask what other PSU can these be plugged in to , i have a miner that draws close to 2.3 k in power coming today. i may buy one of the 2500 watt psu and hows your version of the 800/1200 board coming ?

Side said his are due out in about two weeks with 6 pin plugs . me i really don't care what kind of plug is used as long as it's safe and stays on, would rather have PCEI Plugs for the easy plug in etc  but if the Screw type are Designed right, there just as good.

So far the three i bought form you meet that need Smiley .

I can use two 1200 watt 'psu if needed and turn one side of the miner off etc at times. i checked it can make in scrpt coins = to btc close to 0.03 or more a day depends on the price at that time, were i mine etc, what coin !!! most don't like alt coins because , I'm guessing all the work involved in exchanging them for BTC . and other claims, i won't get into because it might start some thing, i don't want to start . also i like doing Sha256 or btc, if i do sha256 coins,it's only btc.

with Scripts there is so much more to do, if you have the MH power you can do pretty good, if that's your bag or reason for mining ").

does this work with zues miner rigs?

Yes, Minera works very fine with Zeus miners

^^^^^^^^^^^ Smiley> and grind seeds it's my g black s 25 mh main soft ware miner , and I hope just as good with Alcheminer, I have Alcheminer 256 due here some time tomorrow.

and Avalon miners i got my Avalon 4.1 working with cgminer 4.9.2 once i found the right forked copy.

btc  13Xb4RvqoeRumYbzNpe4a8jNLb7N3qhFNZ total unpaid 0.00226129 been that way for a few days payout is 0.0001 ?
ltc    LSwqa3s8VrMTGbAPxBKUhKEUChDvi5cU6w total unpaid 0.12797387 I think four to five days ?. not sure how payouts work with ltc.

Payouts are made automatically every 3 hours for all balances above 0.0025 and balances less than 0.0001 are paid on Sunday.

We don't have enough hash yet to mine LTC so might be a while for that payout.

From the main page:

Non-BTC payouts depend on that coin being mined as your BTC balance is traded internally by our system to your currency of choice. If we have not or are not mining that currency your payouts will be delayed until the pool has mined the blocks for you to get paid. If you notice in the pools status that the currency is red, it means there is not sufficient amount of the currency to pay miner(s). It's recommended to use BTC as any other coin could be removed at anytime and payouts will not occur.

i re read about the btc i missed it about the ltc or wouldn't have asked ty .i putting a 256 mh miner i hope online some time next week it's being delivered Monday according to the tracking i got for it, it will take me two days to set it up right and decide what pools to mine etc at first i may solo mine on nice hash then hit here a few days if the ltc hash picks up . i want to save some  ltc really never know what could happen.

1649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ZEUS HURRICANE X3 hopefully finally cured the heat problem on: March 17, 2016, 01:49:33 AM
I ran a GAW Black Widow, same thing as your Hurricane X3, for about a year. I never had any problems with the PCI-E cables over-heating. I am now running a ZeusMiner Thunder X6. It has been running for about the same amount of time as your unit. The ZeusMiner Thunder X6 uses approximately 525W over 2x 6 pin PCI-E cables at a chip frequency of 248 MHz. That works out to about 262.5W per cable. It has also not had any issues with the PCI-E cables over-heating. Out of curiosity, were the PCI-E cables on your PSU 16 AWG or 18 AWG?

i must say im shocked but maybe mine was defective, im not sure on the gauge at first it was the original modular ribbon for the pci-e it was pretty meaty, then after the first meltdown i switched to 18awg 2x molex to 1 6 pin pci-e which lasted longer than the original and didnt seem to get as warm as the original ribbon either but failed me again this morning Sad
Well, at least you did not damage your Hurricane X3.

yeah i was careful hopefully a new script coin will come out and give us all 1 last decent ride before they become a part of crypto history Smiley

good new there is anytime now A4 and if AlcheMiner got there founding we will see a 128 512 with very nice at the wall power usage the 128 is suppose to sell for 1299 .

http://www.alcheminer.com/alcheminer-scrypt-ii-project

i read thu some place else they went under.

Innosilicon  is working on it's A3 and A4 not much else is known with them, i think .

I'm a big fan of script mining that's how I  started miming : LTCRabbit.com , i still use a out dated Zeus miner cyclone i molded to be very quiet when i miss it. and save those LTC and sell off any alt coin i happen to mine.

I also have a thunder x6 i burt up tying to do something and  a g-black gind seed 25 mh that sells for a stupid amount  I'm guessing because there hard to find , i just bought two used control boards for it each board cost me 20 bucks the old one burnt up one of the caps poped on the card and i got to it to late, there due here Friday and it has  4 quiet 120 mm fans push/pull over the three 90 mm jet engine fans it came with .

Just got news i have a Alcheminer 256 MH miner due here Monday there goes the power bill lol .

Yea thanks i honestly  thought there was another reason , i normally don't say a  thing in you all thread but wanted to say ty as well for the update and agree Avalon stuff is a lot nicer , i hope they keep it that way , and  trump bitmain in every way , i kind  of got screwed over by bitmain but let go and refuse by any thing from S7 and up unless it's like S3s .They quoted me a price I went to buy it then they jack the price up and play hard noise , IVe sense let it go and Avalon came out to late with the A6 im saving now for the new stuff but Ive seen some A6's sells as low as 599 not sure how real the sells are or if it was a scam or not, i think on ebay believe or not . I'm waiting it out now. I use CK pool a lot more then i used to Smiley: .
1651  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: March 16, 2016, 06:10:24 PM

you should have all 4 plugged in, with 4 seperate wires not the one wire with 2 ends.

kano has a binary update.. its not a complete firmware update but it really makes the s3 more stable.

https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS3

you have to SSH into the s3 to run the commands..
i suggest putty to do that..
http://www.putty.org/

Unfortunately it is no accessible anymore Sad

$700 a month? That'd be nice. I haven't had a power bill that low in a year and a half.

and we complain about our normal 300 dollar bills just ruing 4 miners off and on thu out the month . lol

I like smart meters but hate them because i don't trust the power company  because it has been off some times but i can't prove it but once i get the kill o meter im looking at install in my main panel I'll have the smart meter  BS removed, i can keep better track of it and im getting quotes for solar for home to off set the power like a few here are, even if i have to rent it at first . anything is better then letting the power company control what i do with smart meters, they can, and do, no mater how much they say can't Ive heard story's others wise BE and G has shut off different parts of houses,  because there bill was last or they didn't pay it one month with analog meters they can''t  .i believe them more then the power company because of all the lame shit BG and E tries at times but Ive been very luckily so far . i know that.
1653  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Community Miner Design Discussion on: March 16, 2016, 04:47:33 PM
This is just an amazing project!
Can't wait to see/buy the final product.

yes I held off filling the solar array.  we have 13-16 k-watts of power for mining   and right now I have 7 avalon 6's marked for it. 2 actually running 4 in my garage and 1 on a ups truck coming to my home as I type.

so that is 7 kwatts

this means buysolar and I will be looking to add 6 to 9 k- watts worth of this gear.
We are hopeful that    we will have 22th avalon + 60th bitfury = 82th
By July 1
Damn you...
Now you have me looking at solar at least at home to offset my miners here (now ~3.9kw). At 15-cents/kWh - ouch.
Just got the bill for last month when I was running 6.5 kw of s7's here (for winter heating ya know), um we had many days over 65 here so my AC had to run to keep the house below 80F. $1,054 worth of owwie there...  The upside to that is I think my furnace only came on 2-3 times over the winter so  normal heating costs for the gas & electric to run the blower were near zero.

In looking around just found http://www.ecodirect.com/ who carry tones of goodies and - they take BTC. Smiley Inverters, controllers, LED lights, you name it.

Methinks I'll peruse their wares for a bit... I like the micro-inverter idea and prices look rather good. Hmm...

wow 15 cents I'm like 10 after fees my assnut power company  is able to push in they are tiring to get 15 $  more a month in hearing last  one i think is Friday then everyone has till the middle of next month to submit more info or bs proof . as to why they don't need it or do ,if they had there way here we all would be paying 700 dollar + bills each month no mater how much was used even with energy saving days in the summer, we also pay back  in fees they don't explain well unless you call and hate to think what they would try to heavy users, if they had there way.so far ive been luckly the most i did last summer was 460 $ dollar with 3 engry saving days if i remember my total useage for that month was 2.9 k very small farm that actually paid for it self last year . so Ive been lucky but if all goes well with the new stuff im sure ill be hitting close to 4k each month but making enough to cover it then some till july at least .

They are right if the miner software is not the right one for that miner but for another version of that miner then it won't work right it may work in minera but not the right speed . i put my A 4.1 back on minera i actually like iit more then the Avalon 4.1 controller software  but i could not use cgminer 4.9.2  i had to take it down one to 4.9.1 even after comping it right it would not clock right with 4.9.2, so, i read the read  me for that version of CGmiiner and it seems they gave  A6 support only in 4.9.2 for any thing complied as Avalon4 it only works with A6 there was no switch i could fine to turn on  A4/4.1  once you enable it as Avalon4 it see anything as A6 with  the Avalon4 setting and 4.9.2  the lower models should work as usually it does show it as A4 but runs it or tries to run it as A6.

I went to 4.9.1 which has no A6 support according to the readme and now im hashing fine and it all works well in minera not sure if that is why it doesn't work with 4.9.2 and under hashes and runs in general like shit , at this point it's not a big deal, there wasn't much more done to 4.9.2 any way that maters or should to me, right now .

SO, as long as the miner software supports that miner it should just work with minera as Ive said before and a few others have . Smiley . why im posting it again  i run in to a issue as i said above . Smiley . wanted to share it.

question this is the hard part for me what radiator should i use with this pump and tank which I have now

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056LRJD4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

http://www.amazon.com/Swiftech-MCP50X-Extreme-pressure-centrifugal/dp/B00OWKVYR2/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0X2JT8N375VZK6318DJ0

I did a lot reading and watched lot of videos etc on which one is best and even read this thread a lot . I'm being lazy now for the last part the radiator.

if anyone would be kind enough to link a few good radiators that would be great. or will the one that came with the C1 be ok , i plan to upgrade the miner to bitfury chips if that happens and  we can get boards that fit .

I know we don't know yet how hot or what cooling we need i can use that else were like on my PC for fun if i have to . the pump and tank had very good reviews all most any place i looked.
1657  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: March 15, 2016, 08:00:05 PM
My concern is that one of my S3 devices reboots every few hours. I have tried flashing back to the first FW, doing a hardware reset, and then flashing back to the latest FW. The unit continues to reboot after doing this. I have now swapped the control boards between the rebooting S3 and another one to see if the control board is causing the reboot. My chief concern is determining if I have a bad control board.

hello,

do you have a single PSU on that S3 ?
Do you have a large PSU on multiple S3 ?

it could be the PSU restarting rather than the S3 itself ?

also you could run a putty session on that particular S3, log the output, and see what's the last lines ?
I am using a single 1000W PSU for two S3 and only the one S3 is rebooting. I have also attached that S3 by itself to two other PSUs with the same result. I think I will try running a terminal capture via PuTTY as you suggest.

How many PCIE cables are plugged into each S3?   Also what brand/model is PSU?

Also are you overclocking? Have you tried a lower freq?
Each hashing board has one PCI-E cable plugged in and is set to a frequency of 218.75 MHz. The PSU is a 1000W Corsair RM1000, but I have also used a a 600W Corsair GS600 and a 750W Ultra X4 with only this S3 plugged in. Each setup exhibited the same symptom. I have also tried different frequencies, but nothing above 225 MHz. I have stuck with 218.75 MHz or less whilst attempting to discover the root of the rebooting symptom.

I would use all four PCEI slots on both miners my self i know bitmain says there is no need to if you don't over clock but I would  use all four anyway and all ways have on any s3 i ever owned and still do on the one i have left with a 750 gold psu any atx psu I bought for mining was gold before i started buying server psus, i never skimped on them if they were used for mining.even on my C1 i still use i use all 8 slots and plug the water pump and fans on there own power and watch them closely im about to replace the water pump etc with a good 100 dollar system that's just the pump and tank i haven't look into radiators yet). i plan to upgrade if and when the butfury broads happen .

I've got a nice metal-case Dell-branded 24 port 10/100 that kicked out about half the ports in the last year. It might have dropped all of them by now, I don't know. It's a big paperweight now.

I had a 16 port net gear switch 10 /100 up til 4 month ago it went up and i thrashed it after 7 years , so i went and bought two 8 port net gear switches , couldn't find any good deals for a good 16 port so i bought those two off Amazons ware house deal 's they both were brand new with dmg boxes they shipped in, no one wanted, i was told because of the box they shipped in. even got a nice 150 dollar psu that way for 80 or 90 i think because they thought it was over heating and it's in this pc been there for all most 2 years with no issues, one of Corsair 850 gold that get hot but don't, when they came out cost all most 200 bucks brand new.

will 100mb switch be enough for KNC titan 400mhs and another miner 100mhs?

none of  the miners use any large amount band which you could get way with using a 10mb switch if that's all you had i use 10/100/1000 net gear 8 port switchs,I have 4 of them, and use one for Mining, 2 for the net work it self in my home those two have open ports and one is collecting dust right now because i sold off all most all my home farm it was using which was a mistake .I should have waited a little longer. at one time i had 8 ti 9 miners running in my home now maybe four, most of the time 2,waiting for the new stuff to come and hope i can afford it, is why i should have waited . mine are all in metal cases .  and there is nothing wrong with plastic that I know of, can't say i all way bought metal ones never paid to much attention to the case when i bought it.

I am using BFGMiner for my AntMiner U1 devices on a Raspberry Pi B+ and I was wondering if there are any advantages, other than fast pool switching, to using the stratum proxy option for my AntMiner S1 and S3 devices?

I had it running on a S5 it seems to handle things better with bfg then the hacked up version of cgminer bitmain only allows us to use in the antminer S series or wanted us to use but the problem now is the C1 and up have read only file systems and it's a pain to reinstall it after every reboot or shut down, bitmain waited to long to share the source, so  now no one really cares .and on the S3 and below the controller space is to small to install it like on the c1 and S5, it's works on the S1/3 BFG with no hashing, i can't seem to get it to install the right drivers, so i give up .I even asked two month ago what's wrong, to be honest, it really doesn't mater any more, very soon we get a new gen of miners that will Polly kill any S3 use age , im gonna use the frame any way .
