1701  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins Next Stop $50,000 on: January 12, 2018, 03:50:47 PM
That is outrageous and preposterous. 50,000 out of nowhere? Now is not the time for such a case to be likely possible because bitcoin is struggling to recover, rather it is just being stable around the price levels of 13,000-15,000$. Altcoins are getting pumped now,the same situation like last year beginning. 50,000$ is possible in a time span of like what 2-3 years at least.
1702  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Can Be A Savior! on: January 12, 2018, 03:21:48 PM
Every one knows this for well that this is temporary. The central governments of these countries are yet relying upon USD whilst some of the residents are using bitcoin and crypto in general to bring in some liquidity. These countries in Africa which have been almost destroyed because of US's will, have let its people to suffer. Consequently, people found an alternative to get some money even during the inflated prices. All thanks to golix.io,an Zimbabwe exchange where the prices are highly inflated, users took advantage and thankfully, some people are surviving the nightmare they are living in.
1703  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin Money or Currency on: January 12, 2018, 11:00:07 AM
Yeah bitcoin is a currency used as a medium of exchange. Currency is more of a narrow term and money is wider and broader term. Currency comes under money, and thus bitcoin also comes under money. Money includes all types of currencies but crypto currencies aren't officiant considered to be a part of the money supply by any government. It's just that the users have assumed so and we have moved on.
1704  Economy / Reputation / Re: The Pharmacist - Attacks Filipinos here in BCT on: January 12, 2018, 10:01:32 AM
Your the one getting confused turbo.
Maybe, maybe not.  Roll Eyes
This is a PRIVATE forum.  The Admin decides what the rules are and what rules are enforced and what the consequences are...
This is pretty much a PUBLIC forum. Public as in anyone can come and post coherent and relevant posts. There are no official rules stated by the admin you know. And consequences, my foot there are any. There are hundreds of users abusing campaigns and scamming innocent people, what consequences have users faced, a red tag is going to help anyone? A big huge NO.
No they do not have the right to post in ANY section they want.  They have no fucking rights here what so ever.  We all have privileges granted to us by the Admins.  Follow the rules or FUCK OFF, pretty easy.
Are you fucking dumb? Theymos believes in freedom of speech and literally all users are given equivalent rights, except for that of staff and moderators. Everyone has equal rights, you sound like a person who has been living under a rock and is just removing his real life anger on the forum's users. Go and have a beer.
The racist moron is allowed to say whatever the fuck he wants as long as he is not breaking Admins rules, which I haven't seen evidence of.  Don't like what the retard is saying ignore him!
Yes he is allowed to say anything he wants to unless he is trolling.
3. No trolling.
What the user, The Pharmacist, told was rude and discriminatory. Not everybody in this world not get offended when rude things are said, some feel too hurt and they get angered because everyone has their own limits. Freedom of speech is allowed but freedom of trolling and rudely discriminating a race or religion isn't how a person should sound. That's where you get to know that the person is immature and whining about it is not going to take him anywhere.
No one give a flying fuck how many languages you know... You sound like some self righteous prick IMO
True no one does, do you know what you sound like?
1705  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie PM opt-in on: January 11, 2018, 08:23:25 PM
In response to the annoying PM spam, you now have to opt into receiving PMs from newbies. The option is in your PM preferences. You also can't send PMs to newbies if you haven't opted in. Copper members are exempt, but only if you're wearing the copper membership.

You should opt into receiving newbie PMs if you post offers in the marketplace, if you like answering newbie questions, if you're a moderator, etc.
Thank you so much theymos, finally users can stop getting bothered by the annoying ICO spammers. Appreciate it. Something is finally being done here and if you continue to do wonderful things like this, soon this forum would be a better place to visit to.
Update :-
Theymos, I noticed a combo box which mentions about whether you should receive emails about pms or not. Why not add an option to just ignore the newbie messages and not disturb users via mail. Because most of the users only get irritated that their email gets spammed than their forum account.
1706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy the dip, 2018 edition on: January 11, 2018, 07:15:35 PM
we are experiencing another beautiful dip because of some new FUD on the media and some weak hands panic selling their coins again.

so far the bottom has been tested at least twice in a major dip and another time in another small dip.

there is a pretty good chance that this time if we get over this dip, it will be the last dip that we are going to see this month.

#bullish
There is still more to come. Better wait, money is going to flow in ripple yet again because Ripple has partnered with money gram now. Bitcoin will go down furthermore, so you can buy then. Yay.. New investors, seize this opportunity or cry for ever.
1707  Other / Meta / Re: Are you embarrassed to post in the ivory tower? on: January 11, 2018, 06:11:17 PM
Nah, but their posts would be chucked away. Account farmers and spammers can't deal with that kind of risk, which is why they spam the shit out of Economics, Bitcoin Discussion, pretty much every fucking board. Those posts are far easier to come up with, and you can spam a shit ton more due to the amount of vague and general threads (spam megathreads incl.)

Right.. If their posts gets deleted, they won't be able to meet their weekly minimum posts requirements,so they won't get paid. But posters just want to rank up are posting, which angered theymos I guess,so he had to increase the restrictions on posting in those two boards. Wondering why theymos doesn't do the same to boards like off-topic,politics and society.

Plus, posts in the Ivory Tower and Serious Discussion are kind of over most spammers' heads. All they know about crypto is how to send coins and join bounties.
Touche.
1708  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going to $400 on: January 11, 2018, 05:10:25 PM
That's preposterous. Bitcoin cannot directly jump to 400$. There are way too many support levels to support bitcoin's price levels in case it falls. Even if it falls, users would happily buy more since they have been with bitcoin for far too long and they won't mind spending some money yet again on it ,inconsiderate of people's opinions calling bitcoin to be a bubble ,a ponzi or whatever bull shit. Bitcoin cannot disappear in the air dude. About your so called high profile people, here's what Jamie asshole Dimon had to say earlier this week.  Here's the link:- Jamie Dimon Regrets Calling Bitcoin a Fraud
1709  Economy / Economics / Re: Many new rich people are created from Bitcoin on: January 11, 2018, 04:53:57 PM
From bitcoin, since when is bitcoin a womb or a money generating machine or something? Why do you care about how many people get rich because of capital gains? That's not going to affect you in any direct manner,so just move on learn something which would be useful? You're just wasting your time to be honest and not to mention this thread gives more room to shitposters to spam.
1710  Other / Meta / Re: Are you embarrassed to post in the ivory tower? on: January 11, 2018, 03:59:42 PM

Sadly the forum has essentially become a joke really. These new boards are silly if you really think about it but are essentially a necessity now and are just a sad symptom of signature campaigns and how they've been left to degenerate into what they have become and the issue with paying people to post is so bad that there needs to be some sort of quarantine free from disease. The fact that this site is a bitcoin discussion forum is pretty much an afterthought now as the vast majority of people signing up here don't care about that at all but just the fact that they heard you can earn money here (and most of it isn't even paid out in bitcoin but alt coins or tokens etc). When you don't actually care or know anything about bitcoin and can barely speak English and on top of that are forcing yourself to make posts to hit your quota what is going to happen? Add to that that most people create numerous accounts to maximise profit then there's just wall to wall spam and abuse. If we had actually cracked down on what campaigns can get away with then this problem wouldn't be here today but because we've had a laissez faire attitude and let campaigns do whatever they want it has just led to laziness both on the campaigns themselves and their actual participants. When we let people have an unlimited amount of accounts and let campaigns pay people for whatever drivel they can be bothered to make what do we expect to happen? Pure abuse on both sides. Why would campaigns waste time policing their campaigns when that costs time and effort and why would users bother to write more than a sentence when they don't need to? If we made it so this behaviour/attitude was unacceptable and punished those who were causing the problem then things would have turned out a lot different. I've always said that signature campaigns could actually help improve the quality of discussion here but that's only if people who run them do a good job and only accept and pay for quality posters and there's punishments for those that don't. At the moment there are campaigns that will accept an unlimited amount of newbies and pay for them to make any old crap so of course it's going to be abused. This behaviour can't be acceptable but if it is allowed to continue then the forum is just going to get even worse than it is now.
Signature campaigns aren't bad in the services section, most of the managers are okay, the bounty managers, they are way too lazy. There is one manager who isn't checking the post quality of users I guess, he's just accepting the users if the parameters are  correct. Here's his campaign that he is managing :- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2705913.0
I do not mean any personal offense to him but clearly I guess that's what is happening there.
The intent is simple: People shitpost to lazily rank up their accounts and get paid from signature campaigns. If there's boards that won't further them in their goal of achieving activity and postcount then those shitposters won't waste their time posting in there as it's counter-productive and hopefully the only people who will post in there are those that actually want to contribute to decent discussion.
The intent might be in the right direction but yet shit posters will spam there. So what if activity doesn't count? The activity raise is only to a limited number of posts per week, campaigns expect users to post like 25-30 posts on an average. Users would post in as many sections they can, so that they get accepted in future campaigns. Because there are some managers who expect users to post in many sections, as one of their goals would be diversification of posts.
1711  Other / Meta / Re: Prohibiting Newbies from creating threads in Off Topic and Politics & Society on: January 11, 2018, 03:44:15 PM
So can we restrict lower ranked accounts from these two boards? I don't see any good reason why we should allow them to post in there straight away as it just leads to tonnes of shitposting farming on daily basis.
What happened to the discussion where people were like create a board for spammers and shit posters to spam? Has theymos mentioned anything about it in the staff board? I don't legit users have a problem against this, except for this point made by quickseller :-
The politics section I more complicated because it is well political. Restricting the politics section would reduce the forums protection of free speech which is something I know theymos greatly values.
Theymos really respects integrity of all the users and he truly believes in usage of free speech, so if theymos finds it against his will, he won't do so.
1712  Other / Meta / Re: Idea: Excluding newbies from the bounty section on: January 11, 2018, 03:32:28 PM
Their IP only really gets banned from creating new accounts on that connection. Their 2/5/100 other accounts they were already farming on that connection will still be fine and free to post especially when there's no admins looking into ban evasion or alts. People can also just go to their local McDonalds/Starbucks/whatever to create new ones or just use a proxy anyway. I think limiting one account to be created per IP should be considered and would cut down on a lot of the abuse as there's only so many connections/proxies in the world and fresh/clean ones would quickly become increasingly difficult to find. Alternatively, as already mentioned (and expanded on below) paying for the signature would help with this issue considerably.
But again, it all comes down to theymos right? If he doesn't even want to think about banning signatures for shit posters, then how is it going to help?
$10-$50 would be too cheap to be effective. I think it would have to be $100+. It won't stop people having multiple accounts completely but it will significantly reduce abuse and the number they can have because nobody is going to pay $100 for their 100 alt accounts. People currently farm hundreds of accounts because it's free and relatively easy to do so right now and that's part of the problem. If signatures are removed from ranks and people have to pay for them then account farming would stop pretty much instantly.  Most people would then only have one or two accounts and just concentrate on those one or two rather than looking to abuse campaigns en mass with multiple ones because it's just not worthwhile or feasible, but as long as people can create an unlimited amount of accounts for free then they will continue to do so.
Agreed to some point, people would be hesitant to pay 100$ for one account, that too in a forum. I just realized one more thing, since a lot of shit posters are from India, not all of them but most. Paying a 100$ would be a little too much, here's the math:-
1$=63 rupees or so. 100$=~6300 rupees. I have heard a lot of people get food for around 30-40 rupees per meal, a lot of Asians would be grieve-struck, if they have to pay a 100$ for such. Also will legitimate users would also have to pay for this?
1713  Other / Meta / Re: Idea: Excluding newbies from the bounty section on: January 11, 2018, 01:46:07 PM
It'll cost the spammers to do so though. If signatures get removed from ranks (and thus activity), users are going to have to pay to get one and while a regular user might not have many issues paying 10-50$ for a sig for his only account (especially if he plans to actively participate in the forum), a spammer's is going to take the hit of the aforementioned 10-50$ for each of his accounts getting banned.
But theymos isn't agreeing to remove signatures from users, so the better find out alternatives, in this way you can ban shit posters forever and they'd never come back. Even if a user has multiple accounts shit posting, he would not mind paying those 10-50$ because he can earn that much in less than a month and then again he continue earning by shit posting at the same time. Ban the user's ID forever, even if they use VPN, then people won't have to waste their time on reporting useless shit posters.
And that's why I agree with hilariousandco's suggestion to make certain boards not count towards the post count or activity. Doesn't impact what content can be posted yet removes any incentive for posting there, aside from genuinely wanting to discuss the legitimacy of a project or participating in a bounty / bitcoin giveaway / etc.
Not making those sections not count for activity count would definitely help but this needs to be taken into consideration at the administration level. Until then people can only discuss about it, actions do speak louder than words.
Simply removing signatures from ranks would solve the alts issue as a person would have to pay cold hard cash for each account he wants to run a sig campaign on (and as previously mentioned, would suffer a direct monetary loss for each of his accounts getting banned). Considering the generally privacy-conscious crowd that seems to hang around here, I doubt the alt detection would do much as most people who want to hide their alts simply sign up with a VPN, proxy or Tor in the first place.
Exactly, so what I'm saying is that there is this thing which detects your original IP even if you use VPN or anything, so if you're banned, you cannot access your account/s even if you use VPN. Simple as that. If this feature gets implemented, then people won't have to fuss about shit posters.
1714  Other / Meta / Re: Idea: Excluding newbies from the bounty section on: January 11, 2018, 10:24:03 AM
Well how shitty does this forum have to get before heavy-handed measures become necessary?   I would suggest that the benefits of a measure like this would outweigh any inconveniences experienced by some noobs who are in all likelihood alt accounts anyway.  It's not a perfect solution, but it's worth trying.  It's better than doing nothing.  If you keep doing nothing, bitcointalk might as well start up a local board for English.  Drives me nuts when proposals get shot down because they're not perfect.  Nothing is.
Spamming will continue taking place in that board too,if ever theymos decides to create such. Shitposters just need a place to post and increase their activity count. I have doubt,if a person gets banned, their IP also does get banned? But yet people create their legion of alts and come back. I have seen websites which tackle the VPN problem, wherein people with multiple accounts are exposed even while they use VPN,is it possible for it to be implemented in this forum too? This will tackle one of the greatest issues on bitcointalk, right? A lot of people are wasting their time for nothing if shitposters keep coming back. Any thoughts on this??
1715  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think bitcoin redistributes wealth or just makes the wealthy richer? on: January 10, 2018, 04:56:16 PM
Just that... do you think there is any re-distribution effect at all due to bitcoin?
Bitcoin doesn't do anything on its own. The market forces are the reason for why you get capital gains. There is no redistribution effect, are you talking about bitcoin forks? If yes, well they are just a Plagiarized code of bitcoin's original code and few changes to make "bitcoin better", while they don't help at all. Bitcoin cash is thus far the best result derived from a fork, others just went to ruins.

Who makes the wealthy richer? Well they find themselves in a situation which makes them rich either because of their stupid or clever decisions. That is terrible question and proves how useless and dumb you're,and a big noob.
1716  Economy / Services / Re: 🔥 BITBLISSCOIN SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN 🔥 [Full Members+] 🔥 [1 SLOT FOR FULL] 🔥 on: January 10, 2018, 03:02:42 PM
Guys don't apply any of the atriz campaign. He just taken his all alt accounts first and giving space for the postive trust members alone

This was happened in bazista, cypterium and all the high paid campaign ran by him. He joins with some highly appreciated members in the forum doing this scam continuously. ICO owner please ignore him and his alt being used escrow services

I am gonna Twitter and Reddit page with #riseagainstscammanagerbtctalk
#Butthurt troll. You're that jobless enough to post in Reddit and Twitter, that a person who you don't even know, is a campaign manager who uses his alt accounts for his campaigns and what not? Fucking I wish I have enough time like you jobless people but we all know why you're jobless in the first place  Roll Eyes aTriz is legit and has proven himself to be trustworthy, at least a little in this forum in the eyes of a lot of members, you're just a Butthurted person who is still whining about his negative rating. Get the fuck out of here. No one needs you or cares about your existence.
1717  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Would you like to have something like this for Bitcoin as well? on: January 09, 2018, 09:58:23 AM
Created this platform for Ripple so that people can compare buy rates, sell rates and fees for different exchanges offering Ripple Trading. Additionally, Arbitrage Opportunities are also shown for respective trading pairs.

You can get notified whenever there is an arbitrage opportunity upon registration.

As there is an increase in number of people investing in Ripple and most of them are new to trading, thought this would be helpful.

Link: https://www.shufflup.org

What about having something like this for Bitcoin as well? Greatly interested to know your opinion.

Something like this does exist, I remember some one offering their services for arbitrage opportunities for all cryptos from various exchanges, and it was proven to be legit, only catch was that you needed to pay 750$ as a one time fee for that. If you're offering for free, a lot of people would misuse your service,so better have a paid one so that you can also benefit from it. People would love to have bitcoin, since it helps them to feed their family, pay hospital bills and what fucking not. Again, make sure that people don't abuse your hard work to nothing but for vain.
1718  Economy / Economics / Re: Market capital, will XRP ripple be a permanent #2 to Bitcoin? on: January 09, 2018, 08:26:51 AM
Ethereum has now regained its number 2 position, xrp has fallen hard since Coinbase rejected to open itself to Ripple's markets. Ripple has a total supply of 38 billion, multiply that amount with a mere 7$,the market cap of Ripple will be greater than bitcoin's market cap. And now that coinmarketcap no longer takes the Korean exchanges for the average price, we can now compare the more realistic data. Ripple tried really hard to beat bitcoin by announcing major partnerships with reputed companies, money did flow in the market but it was time until users decided to show who actually is supposed to dominate the market. Ethereum has tried to do so in the past it also ended up failing miserably, same was the fate for Litecoin.
1719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading analysis, is it real or speculation. on: January 08, 2018, 09:34:29 PM
Hello, I'm new here.
I just started trading bitcoin last month. Playing with some change was easy but when I decided that I'm ready to go big, I began to lose.
Its only a month you're in with bitcoin, these losses aren't exactly loss, these are more often termed as capital gain/loss. You'll get a loss only when you sell it for crypto or fiat.
I started reading analyst blogs and their guess is always on spot. It is like they can control the market some how.
How can they be so sure? I tried looking back for the same pattern they were talking about but the result afterwards is different. What's really going on here?
Oh boy, you're so innocent that you don't even know that these are pump and dump groups. These groups are famous as they reveal out the coins  which is going to *increase* due to specific reasons and stupid people believe and buy it,but what these groups do is they buy that coin for a cheaper price and when others start buying it,they dump their holdings, and soon idiots start panic selling their holdings for a loss, and these groups again buy at a cheaper price and the cycle continues.
1720  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin domination era is over? on: January 08, 2018, 08:38:59 PM
People like you(OP) will never cease to non-exist. Ripple dominated for what like 3-4 days, until Coinbase plummeted the hopes and the hype that people had with Ripple. They didn't wish to add Ripple to Coinbase, so the dominance streak ended there. But if Ripple soars past 7$(which doesn't seem to be much as it has already gone till 4$) , it'll overpass bitcoin's market cap, given bitcoin doesn't change much. Bitcoin is the first ever crypto currency, do you think Ripple will be the one to overcome the mighty bitcoin in terms of being the best crypto and what not? Think reasonably, what Ripple has gone past through and what bitcoin has gone pass through. Ripple won't stand a chance if you make a comparison. Such a comparison is like comparing ancient Rome to a slave rebellion. Roman's are known to be highly disciplined and the rebels, well you know.. I support the cause of rebels just like I support Ripple in terms of investment, but at the end of the day rebels don't stand a chance to Rome just like Ripple not withstanding against bitcoin.
