Add mimblewimble would be my suggestion...supposedly Litecoin is doing so and it is a major clone of Bitcoin...

as mimblewimble was originally designed for Bitcoin...this would be a nice 'hook' for attention for FJC from the rest of the altcoin herd. IMHO.

brad

edit: I realize that would not mean the end of current public FJC use as the same for LTC use. But it with LTC will probably

involve a wallet option like DASH for private transactions. Thus (I'm assuming) this is the angle for current coins to implement.

Giving the wallet holder a choice on which distribution system to use on their coin with mimblewimlble the 'legacy' public version or a 'private' version on

a transaction.

again, all supposition on my part .but seems to keep with the rumors I've heard (for what it is worth as a mental exercise)

If possible I think that would be something good to integrate.  Anon is not a bad thing towards looking at for fjc, and possibly some different exchanges to add to market liquidity

my view is FJC needs more to differentiate itself from the other bitcoin altcoins. Eventually (It has been 4.5 years or so since the ASIC KNC Titans..that are the ONLY ASICs

to my knowledge that can do scrypt-N coins (FJC) ...eventually they will die out cube by cube...so without new innovations to move FJC out of the pack..I'm afraid it will

simply fade. The KNC Titan's were NEVER robust and prone to melting power plugs and other issues. (notice how you see few on eBay...because the blew up)

Anyway, innovate or die ...FJC has 'copied' enough IMHO, time to try some new stuff. At worse it will be an add on novelty. At best it will pump the coin to more legitimate uses.

I think that it is impossible to introduce mimblewimble to Fujicoin. There is no concept of address in mimblewimble. So it is impossible to connect with already constructed block chains.
Anonymity is an important qualification of the current fiat currency. I think that is preferable. However, the Japanese government has determined that it will be used for money laundering and is excluded from the whitelist of the crypto currency.
So I'm not going to make Fujicoin anonymous crypto currency.  Smiley

Again, to my point. FJC better  have somehing as a hook and innovative to carry on its function within the next year..when the knc titans go poof from age (4.5 years plus) ..just saying....2014 ideas are not that big a deal

with all the BTC clones direct..besides FJC...and i think mimblewimble will be added to the wallet for private transactions or at least I think that is what LTC is going for ...not the main chain..

but irregardless, without some kind of new hook FJC is likely toast when the KNC Titans go away...no way worth mining at GPU with the ASIC difficulty pump..so masternodes, mimblewimble, not sure what..but something

new has to happen or it is just the same as hundreds of bircoin clones...with the only difference is in the scrypt -n algo.

sad to say...knc asic titans revived the coin..but that can only go so long IMHO

brad

edit: mimblewimble may not be a good choice for the simple reason that MOST bitcoin clone coins will add this..i was told being originally designed for BTC ..but not done it is an easy hook..so I expect with the 95%

dump in price for most btc clone altcoins and not much to lose the vast majority will add this option, at least in wallet, as the LTC folk are doing...it right or wrong due to ease of addition is gonna be common as hell

so maybe it would make no diff if FJC does not have such...but FJC will have to evolve in some manner or it dies when the knc titans eventually 'croak' and die first.

Did I miss something? But what news preceded this pump? I have checked their twitter - nothing interesting...
Not sure it is real or not because the Litecoin team have not confirmed about this.
There is drama on cooperation between Litecoin and Mimblewimble to boost the pace of developments on privacy for Litecoin network.
I guess this one is the reason of today rise.

This is the email I got on their plan to implement private transactions...

The Momentum Continues

Since we last wrote you a couple weeks back, there's been no shortage of activity keeping us busy:

Charlie Lee announced that we will be exploring Confidential Transactions.
Humanitarian Luiza Palma joined the LF to help Litecoin reach its world-changing potential.
We announced a sponsorship of the Mammoth Film Festival, and much more.

There are also a lot of exciting things happening in the background that we'll share as soon as the time is right.

As a non-profit, your support fuels these efforts. If you think we're doing a good job, visit the Litecoin Foundation site and donate any amount to show your support and help Litecoin reach its true potential!

Enjoy the issue and stay tuned!
Litecoin Explores Confidential Transactions

Charlie Lee recently announced that the Core development teams plan to add Confidential Transactions (CT) into a future release of the full node implementation sometime in 2019.

Charlie has previously mentioned his interest in CT as a potential solution to the fungibility problem which he views as one of final hurdles for cryptocurrencies to be ‘sound money’. For those who don't know, fungibility is the property of a good or a commodity whose individual units are essentially interchangeable.

As this article puts it, "The underlying idea is very simple: if one coin becomes more valuable than another thanks to its history of transactions, or if there are monetary units that face restrictions due to their whereabouts, then the currency isn’t fungible. And when making a transaction reveals the entire balance, it becomes a problem for people who are cautious about their financial privacy, which may deter shoppers from spending their cryptocurrencies (just like someone taking a $20 bill at the cash register wouldn’t want to also reveal how much money he has in his wallet).

Therefore privacy and fungibility are two essential aspects that are intertwined: if nobody knows that the dollar bill in your pocket once belonged to either Pablo Escobar or Brad Pitt, then every unit is equal and can be exchanged for any other. In order to enable this ideal scenario of non-discriminated trades, Charlie Lee has been considering the addition of Confidential Transactions since the fall of 2018."

As the team continues to focus on ways to improve Litecoin, the exploration of CT is an important step. Happily, the community agrees:

Check out this primer from the LiteSchool to learn more about Confidential Transactions.

Litecoin Takes to Hollywood with the Mammoth Film Festival

The Litecoin Foundation is excited to be sponsoring the 2nd annual Mammoth Film Festival, taking place at Mammoth Lakes, CA, on February 7th through February 11th 2019. The festival, which debuted in 2017, was deemed “the biggest first year film festival ever organized.

This year, each winning filmmaker will receive Litecoin as part of their prize. The Litecoin Foundation will also have several team members in attendance who will be networking with the many celebrities, filmmakers, and festival attendees. They will be educating them about cryptocurrency and Litecoin, and helping them set up wallets to experience the power of LTC firsthand. Continue reading.

Litecoin focused on ‘Connecting the World’

When Satoshi Nakamoto first wrote the Bitcoin Whitepaper in October 2008, the goal was to create a peer-to-peer electronic cash system that would bypass financial institutions. Over the past decade, this new form of money has led to powerful social movements and technological advancements that have evolved cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin into something more than what was originally proposed.

For some, they are a necessity against the controlling economic conditions that dictates their lives, and a step towards towards a decentralized environment that provides freedom to people . Whilst the industry is currently valued at $114 billion with over 15,000 markets, there are now 2,000+ cryptocurrencies all with their own individual goals. Some will succeed, others will fail. But, we are entering a new global paradigm shift that will change the way that we transfer value across the world. Continue Reading.

Litecoin Community Moves to Adopt New Blue Logo

Following the successful UFC232 event, where the Litecoin Foundation first displayed a new blue alternative to the traditional grey flat/striped Litecoin logo, it appears the new design has resonated amongst the user base and begun being adopted by many within the community.

The new logo is free to use without restriction, keeping in tradition with the free and open source nature of Litecoin. The Foundation actively encourages businesses and users to adopt the new logo for brand consistency but acknowledge it is up to each business which they choose to use. Continue Reading.
The Power of #PayWithLitecoin

Recently, we ran a poll on Twitter that found that 82% of consumers would definitely or potentially switch to a competitor of a company they do business with based solely on the fact that they accepted their preferred cryptocurrencies.

While this isn't a scientific poll, the message for brands is clear: people want to spend their crypto and they will do business with the companies that take a leadership position by allowing their customers to do so.

Well possible in crypto world, you are right LTC could reach above $100 if Bitcoin rise above $10k.
Litcoin Working with Beamprivacy for mimblewimble on litecoin, i think after this price will move to upside.
Tough competition between Litecoin and Dash, hope so LTC will surpass Dash.  Roll Eyes
Why not Grin coin, that is so hot recent weeks and accepted as payments for the forum Copper membership?
I think that Grin coin is better than Mimblewimble, despite the fact the Grin coin almost originated with basic ideas from Mimblewimble.

Does the above mean that 'mimblewimble' in some manner IS being placed/considered on Litecoin. Or is this just rumor yet?

thanks (trying to catch up)

brad

From what I understand, it will be a side-chain, to allow LTC users the opt-in ability to send their coins in a totally private manner utilising the mimblewimble protocol.
So yeah, collaboration will happen, but forget the 'why not grin' comment, it's won't be Beam and it won't be Grin, it will still be LTC.

Thanks that is more 'clear cut' than what I had heard. It is encouraging. (I have NO LTC at the present time, just to be clear on motives here)

I'm sure that this has been posted but I'm to far behind to know so gonna just put it here.

https://www.goxdox.com/

It looks like MtGox trustee was intentionally attacking BTC price with his dumps and he was warned against what he did by his consultants.

If I was a whale that got fucked this year I'd be filing a civil suit against this guy.

The trustee is a bank auditor or whatever Japanese equivalent of such. Hired by the Japanese gov't for this position (wink/wink). He of course just dumped BTC to the bank's advantage and inside knowledge.

There are many articles on how crony capitalism works in Japan. This is just 'business as usual' with the added benefit of slapping down BTC's price and

concept by the banks as a bonus.  win/win/win

IMHO

on voting 1 lisk = 1 vote for 1 delegate, we had this discussion when Lisk first started:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1346646.msg14186839#msg14186839

yes everyone that has voted should still be earning lisk.

I've been told that some of the 101 delegates that promised to pay have not or never done so. Is this a fact and which delegates of the 101 should

a person unvote on the elite group and/or the same for the Robinhood group....(just to be fair to both groups if such a member in either should be unvoted as

not paying)

Or you all may tell me that this is NOT an issue ..which also works.

thanks

1710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: February 05, 2019, 03:51:35 AM

the only way that IMHO Litecoin (LTC) will break out of the pack of altcoins and go up is if it adds some kind of mimblewimble or anonymous feature

it could be something as simple as like in DASH a private transaction method within the LTC wallet...and all else remaining the same...

I doubt it will be done in any manner...and even if done it is not like Charlie Lee adds features that are not tied to BTC (but once every 3 years or so maybe)

but something drastic needs to happen with LTC, again IMHO...in that as far as I'm told by 'newbies' to crypto....they consider any flavor of Bitcoin Cash

be it BCH or BSV ..the 'silver' to BTC gold...mainly due to trading and speculation

just saying...how I see the future...

Avatar upgrade in progress - WO avatars are being converted to transparent background png format to give a neater appearance.   Since the hats number in the low 100s and I have no formal (or informal for that matter) tracking system, I will convert them as I see them in posts.  If you would like to change your avatar to the cleaner format, please take it from the table below (right click and save image).  If I haven't upgraded your avatar and you have posted recently, it's not because I don't love you; PM me and I'll fix it.

This upgrade is in response to constant badgering a suggestion from Kylapoiss which forced me to learn a new skill.  Seriously though, it does look much nicer - so clean.  Great suggestion!

That story makes little sense.
He makes 250K a year, yet cannot spend $300 a mo on a $20K car payment?
Something here does not compute.
I appreciate his dedication to the btc cause, though.

I think he makes 250K/yr...now

Nope, he said that it was embarrassing to show up on that bike when his business partner was buying his second BMW.
Whatever. Clearly, it was some short term cash flow problem caused by btc over-investment, but he was lucky to have the trend making it worthwhile.

I have his same problem...but replace BIKE with 2005 Ford Taurus 4-door....(sigh....)

Before going back up, almost always go down to find the bottom and start climbing.
But it's Bitcoin, everything can happen. Wink

How do you know we haven’t seen the bottom already?

The next ATH is far away.

Most of us are willing to wait a number of years

Some of us got in 'low' BTC price ----enough that we have to wait a number of years. (LOANY)

Some of us got in "high' BTC price.....enough that we also have to wait a number of years. (HIANY)

The rest of us have little BTC at any price....enough that we can simply flip/flop/trade/buy for a number of years (NULLANY)

Sideways at seems at best. Sideways at Half price would be very bad. Tulips at worst. (ACK!TULIPS)

Of course the above all depends on IF enough people in the 'low' BTC price and 'high' BTC price are stubborn and hodl like hell...(a guy can hope)

1715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: February 01, 2019, 06:52:20 PM

I should have clarified those calculations were done when BTC was at 5.2k USD or so....back a bit

I suspect since the dump it has not done any better...I'd LOVE to be utterly wrong on this and build a rig

anyway, since the dump have not bothered to look at this again...also remember this was with USED equipment

really unsure of what it would be with new (even though I assume storage prices for HD's have likely? come down since that $5.2k price...I think it was when I did the calcs)

anyway, should have been more clear

Of course You should have been more clear. At least to show "calculation" with "25% loss" running SIA hosts.
Taking into account that SIA cloud storage is the feature distinguishing SIA from crypto crowd it is of great interest seeing such "calculation".
Especially when SIA team is assuming that professional data storage nodes would be the core of SIA storage cloud, not the average Joe with available free HDD space and sufficient internet bandwidth.
My opinion is opposite - SIA team could partner with HDD manufacturers and each OTC HDD would come with preinstalled SIA hosting software/wallet that customers could run if proper internet connection is available.
At this point of SIA wallet usability it is not possible, but decentralization is power crypto world should aim to.

The SIA team does a fair amount of posting, including Mr. Vorick, over on Reddit.  There you will find recent posts where the SIA team acknowledges that the people hosting are doing so at a loss.  Interestingly, the defense of this is that loss is being "mitigated" by home users (not professional data storage nodes) renting out what would otherwise be "unused" space.  I'm not sure this makes much sense, but whatever.

That's what the SIA team has to say about this, not Brad, not myself.

Wander over and check for yourself:

https://www.reddit.com/r/siacoin/comments/a9pn53/why_is_sia_more_costeffective_than_amazon_s3/

the fact they used to post on bitcointalk forum and now don't makes what you say about the 'decentralized' block storage as you say..big guys only...

I have a hard time seeing a 'big' place needing storage backup wanting to use siacoin or sia-tech at this point in time...

naw...it is still amateur hour for sia-tech...they are more into hardware upfront risks to miner consumers along the bitmain plan IMHO, then they are in any way

progressing in a like manner on storage..so far it seems to me to be 'smoke and mirrors'....there is NO promotion of the plans you talk about in the business community

at the level of the hardware hype....thus as a 3 legged stool of storage/ASIC's/promotion..it is only emphasizing the equip angle..which 'supposedly' was for ease,

speed and security of the storage network...which lags...cart before the horse...

again, if what they are saying is true on the storage front...I see nothing in the real world or even crypto world press on any of that....just the ASIC's and that press

is usually negative (right or wrong). Thus I see no hook at this time to get the large data halls to adopt as they claim...

Stuff just on twitter and their own links ...just don't cut it...even if they were active on bitcointalk that would not cut it either

crypto word wise and/or promotion wise they are not doing zip but a few crypto festivals...again...if they want business, large data hall action ...and such..that don't cut it.

At least back in the day small miners acted as 'cheerleaders' for crypto..they need the same solution for storage decentralization...otherwise I feel they will never gain

any traction and of course along with legit business promotion and less emphasis on the sia-tech hardware toys.

We will see, but I've been harping on this for 1 year or more..with no real progress at all ...indeed just not seeing it

Last year (2018), Charlie Lee and Litecoin made a revolution in crypto, with successful implementation of Lightning network for Litecoin.
It seems that this year, Litecoin will be a leader of a new trend in crypto.  Cheesy

I expect he is talking about 'mimblewimble' anon protocol...in that, it was made for BTC and rejected as too 'risky' as an anonymous protocol...I'd assume that would be the

an easy way to do what Charlie Lee wants. He may go the 'soft' route and simply allow private transactions in wallets though...there is uncertainty on how the 'powers that be'

will react to mimblewimble etc, they may just flat out ban such protocol in coins as they did with ICO's in the USA.

My guess is the best he will offer is a private transaction feature in wallets. Hope I'm wrong and he goes full mimblewimble.

We will be the first to know I guess.

Just read this.... thought of you’re Guys answers———-> *grin* ?? Roll Eyes

'my joy' 'sparked' much higher at 18k BTC FYI...FML...

Brad

18K was a good trade. Most missed the spot.
However, once you sold a chunk, sooner or later you would feel stupid.
I have been through this on multiple occasions.
The best is to either not sell or sell and completely let that BTC go (from your heart).
Go to vacation, etc, etc.

yeah, I was just being an 'ass' the likelihood is I would have sold at 4k profit (4x) watched the spike to 18k with the 'illusion' I would have sold at the right time
and now it is 4.5k ....so logic wise...if I looked at when I likely would have punted a bunch of coin...it would have been at 4k before the pump...
as I did not know wtf was going on after that point...and still would have gotten lost in the lemming stampede of the bubble...probably..just would have been
the other way around, I'd have dumped too early and missed the bubble at the other end anyway...or so my thoughts with a 4x rise from 1k in Jan 2017 in the fall
when it was 4k price
