1721  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: AMD Mantle is out on: February 03, 2014, 10:30:27 AM
I heard that all those new drivers are not good for mining, can anyone confirm that?
1722  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Very concerned/distraught etc. - screenshot inside on: February 03, 2014, 10:26:49 AM
It seems to me that you have accidentally put 0.3 on the fee field...

BTW, would it be difficulty to add a warning for extremely high fee?
Say, warn the user when the per KB fee is 0.001+ (10x min fee), and the user can choose to revise the fee setting or still create that transaction.

Edit: btcven beats me for that fee warning suggestion. Tongue
1723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The History of Bitcoin on: February 03, 2014, 09:49:21 AM
Jan 9,2009 - it states that "it includes a Bitcoin generation system that would create a total of 21 million Bitcoins through the year 2040."

shouldn't that be 2140?

Looks like a typo to me. Smiley

Sigh... Those comments:

Bitcoin is just one more fkg scam being perpetrated by the "chosen" people who rule our lives and it will continue until they have extorted enough and then it will be illegal until the next scam they pull...remember "JUNK BONDS".

Closer to home, the South China Morning Post reported that Hong Kong was set to launch an ATM for the virtual currency by the end of last month.

The launch in Hong Kong didn't happen, right?

Yes, and you have to update it anytime you add a new key to your wallet

Not anytime.

another great morning of test launches and pre-launch thrust testing . Searching for the most optimal source of thrust . Must be light weight and non-flammable .

What is this? Are you making your reply in a wrong thread?
1729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix to accept Bitcoins soon on: February 03, 2014, 08:46:48 AM
lol this is why I don't post much on these forums anymore... not even one person realizing this is a fake tweet... I'll stick to reddit, and I thought reddit was a circlejerk

What do you mean by a fake tweet?
1730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who is 13p4zncq6m3Ax7tvKhEG2k49hgwfS5g7ic? on: February 03, 2014, 08:26:28 AM
Those high-fee tx are large and consist of 100+ inputs.
But still, the sender is paying a high per KB fee...

For example:
Tx ID: 78c7934c5d32028e0c60741f99068f50a7342c674b077fca320386c77569f094
Size 24791 (bytes)
Fees 0.0355 BTC

Per KB fee = 0.0355 / 25 = 0.00142
1731  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I can't sign into my Coinbase account on: February 03, 2014, 08:18:49 AM
I tried signing into my Coinbase account and was unable to - I tried on my desktop and my Android App.  I am not getting the authentication code texted, or called to the phone number I set it up on.  It has always worked before.  Is anyone else having trouble logging into Coinbase right now?

Did you click on "code not working" and attempt to have it sent again?

Hey, it's working now.  I think it was an issue with my phone.  The phone was freezing up and acting funny, I re-booted it and now I'm able to sign into Coinbase.  Thanks for your help - both of you.

Will you lose your account if you lose your phone?
1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How am I going to save myself with handful of BTC? on: February 03, 2014, 08:13:57 AM
Pretty sure the OP is trolling. But in case the actual owner of 1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a is reading, these blockchain.info "notes" are not part of the block chain - they are records submitted by users of blockchain.info. I would talk to the people running the site, who would be able to give you logs of the person who made the threat. Then go to the police.

This.

After the report to the police take a looong vacation far far far away. I think you can afford it.

There are so many ad from gambling sites and begging on those notes lol.
1733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the chances BTC is replaced by something better soon? on: February 03, 2014, 08:06:31 AM
It's absolutely inevitable that Bitcoin will be replaced.

Proof:
https://blockchain.info/address/1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVr

What is that counterparty address for?

You get whatever coin that is, for proofing you have destroyed some BTC at that address.

It's a good thing. This makes our BTC more valuable.  Grin

I can't really understand the idea of proof of burn..

They basically lose their private key on purpose and the new coin detects this and gives them that coin. Instead of mining, you "buy".

So, it sounds like the new coin is "backed" by those bitcoin, but those bitcoin is not controlled by anyone and will very likely be lost forever...

1734  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox might be own by the NSA on: February 03, 2014, 07:53:54 AM
I'm curious to know, which was the first Bitcoin exchange in world? Was it Mt.Gox or someone else?

Would like to know as well.

It was not the Magic the Gathering Online eXchange.

There was something else but I forget the name.

lol at that "Magic the Gathering Online eXchange" Smiley
1735  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox might be own by the NSA on: February 03, 2014, 07:52:16 AM
MtGox security feature ask you to use Google Authentication.
We all know that Google is the NSA in disguised.

There is a high chance that MtGox is own by the NSA as well.
Need volunteers to check on this.

MtGox is currently playing games with me right now. My account with them is already verified, they want me to do another verification process known as an Apostille. Not sure if their team is incompetence or just stupid.

Forget about the verification, and just stay away from mtgox..

If this is a true story, you should learn to responsibly gamble your money, and you should never borrow money for gambling.

But, I seriously doubt it....

Mint integrates with Coinbase, so you can track Bitcoin with the rest of your finances

The wild ride of Bitcoin’s value is slowing down, and we are beginning to see the effects of that stability.

Personal finance app Mint is integrating with Bitcoin wallet service Coinbase, so Bitcoin owners can quickly track how much their stash is worth and compare this value to their other financial accounts.

“There are now 12 million Bitcoin in circulation and 60,000 merchants accepting it via Coinbase,” Mint product manager Vince Maniago said in an interview. “We felt like it was something we couldn’t ignore anymore, and this is a good time to go out and support the currency as it becomes more legitimate.”
