1741  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Trading vs Stock Trading on: December 29, 2017, 01:47:07 PM
Having been doing the crypto investing and trading for 2 months now. i am well into it.
i never ever really got into stock trading much, other then long term
or day trading stocks

what is the difference between crypto trading and day trading in stocks? would one be following a similar format?
what are the similarities and differences?

look forward to all your kind replies
Mate, first and foremost, instead of creating new threads, just boot up the search bar on the top right corner of the screen, you'll find similar threads. Creating new threads only leads to shit spamming. But it's okay, you're new here, you'll get to know.
Stock trading is different you have to open an account with the regulatory exchange of the country so that you have the right to trade stocks. Crypto on the other hand is like you just open up an account and wham bham boom, you can start trading. But there are crypto exchanges which ask for KYC documents and stuff. Here's what should really be important in the comparison :- Crypto trading is any day better than stock trading, you have a better chance to become a millionaire being a crypto trader than that of the stock market trader.
1742  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think the Xmas and Holiday season, caused the drop in the price? on: December 29, 2017, 10:55:27 AM
The correction did include a little bit of cashing out only for giving gifts and spending some time with the family on a vacation. A hell a lot of investors thought after all the profits that has been reaped this year why not spend some on ourselves and not focus on profits here. The years and years of hardwork by developers and exchanges and what not is what that has bought us here. Even I cashed out a very little portion of my portfolio and bought some gifts. Gives me a great feeling.  Cheesy
1743  Other / Meta / Re: Question about forum finances (again, 2017) on: December 28, 2017, 08:15:30 PM
It probably wasn't millions when theymos put the offer to code the new forum out, it was more around ~275k$ worth of bitcoin.

The price simply increased 10-50fold, hence why it's now more like 10-20 million.

This clearly states theymos had spent around a little over a million dollars back in 2014 :-
Code:
	Forum software project: $1,151,595.23

You can see the current state of the new forum here, https://beta.bitcointalk.org/404  Roll Eyes Don't look at it too long, since you are going to hate every little aspect about it. ( Or is that just me?)
I didn't see an altcoin section, so that's a start but most probably they would add the altcoin section  Undecided. So shit posting can't be avoided?
1744  Other / Meta / Re: Question about forum finances (again, 2017) on: December 28, 2017, 07:08:52 PM
I have a silly silly question to ask, please do forgive me.
Why is millions of dollars spent on the new forum? This much money spent on the new forum won't eradicate  the scammers and scumbags and shit posters away. This is none of my business but still am curious about it. And will there be more number of mods in the new forum at least? And what's the current state of the new forum?
Sorry for the off topic spam here.   Cry
1745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Verge pump only because of McAfee? on: December 28, 2017, 06:22:40 PM
I was looking for some altcoins to use as an example of altcoin that actually goes up against BTC, and not only against USD (while depreciating your BTC long position if you had any, see my thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2641352.msg26890562#msg26890562)

Someone told me about Verge, which had an impressive pump against BTC:
Sure, now it's crashing a bit, but cmon, this is insane, this coin was flaaaaaat for ages, and all of a sudden, McAfee tweets it and creates a multi billion dollar marketcap increase?

Does this guy's endorsed tweets have that much power to pump a coin, or is there any fundamentals that are interesting enough in Verge that made people invest as they found out about the coin? These volume increases are not even half normal. On Dec 11, Verge was a $100 million project, on Dec 24, it peaked at near $3.5 billion.... what do we have here.

Yeah dude, it's McAfee, that very smug son of a bitch. He tweets about a coin pretty much every day and that coin gets pumped. This happened to quite a few coins, one of the recent ones include burst which also had a price rise of like from 131 sats to 684 sats. That's fucking more than 500%. One more fact about XVG is that they have a shit team, so it's influence that's affecting the crypto market not the years of hardwork of developers, sadly. What's happening to the crypto world?  Angry Embarrassed
1746  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is going to crash? on: December 28, 2017, 05:27:29 PM
Hey guys, I'm not saying that I think bitcoin is going to crash but. This image should be scary to anyone holding BTC.

https://imgur.com/a/JhvEa
This is a correction period that we are facing. Patience. The chart isn't giving much evidence for a crash even though it is going down trail, it can recover. It's still in the 14k zone, which is not bad to be honest. A lot of speculators expected the price to go to like 5-8k USD. Don't worry about it, always think about your investment on a long run, you'll see what an amazing experience you have gotten into.
1747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All eyes on Japan in 2018 on: December 28, 2017, 04:43:30 PM
Not a lot is heard about MONA but a lot of people do know NEM, because it belongs to the group of coins that gets pumped every now and then. Japan can contribute a lot to the crypto economy but will MONA and XEM be a part of it? Maybe, maybe not. Only Japan's course of action won't do much change, the crypto economy should accept it, which most probably they will but still am dubious about the statement of yours where an altcoin is coming to the level of bitcoin for faster and cheaper transactions.
1748  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin business success on: December 28, 2017, 02:54:15 PM
I;m interested, since bitcoin isn't that much widespread yet, how are businesses (that are directed towards bitcoin only) doing? Is it paying off or is there some serious profit involved?
If any business is depending upon bitcoin as its mainstream mode of payment, then profit wise they hardly would be getting any given, any other business that would be dealing with would be using fiat and they would be receiving their payments in fiat only. So I don't understand the use of bitcoin here. Profit can be only considered if the amount received is cashed out to fiat. Otherwise the amount of bitcoin will be the same received from the payments.
1749  Economy / Economics / Re: Five common mistakes made by Bitcoin users on: December 28, 2017, 11:57:43 AM
1. Do not remember electronic wallet password
2. Do not back up your wallet
3. Do not research new services
4. Buy and sell based on feelings
5. Leave your money in the electronic money floor
And one more thing : Not learning from past dreadful experiences.
A lot of people including me have made stupid mistakes over and over and still continue to do so. From using exchanges as a main wallet to gambling all the money you have in time span of minutes. If experience cannot help a man to stop making mistakes then I don't know what will.
1750  Economy / Economics / Re: question about transaction fees... on: December 28, 2017, 07:25:50 AM
I have like 200 $ in bitcoin on ANX. I wanted to transfer that to Binance exhange and I saw that if I wanted to I could only send like 140. Is the transaction fee really 60$ to send coin on bitcoin now? Or this is something ANX is doing? I can't see how that will pass as acceptable. Might as well use bank transfers, cheaper!
What the actual fuck? I should consider myself lucky for I paid 16$ for  a 500$ transaction. 60$ is too much for a transaction worth 200$. Obviously the difference between the balance and the amount of money you're getting is going go to be the transaction fee. I don't use ANX but some issue must be there, contact the support and check what the issue is. And always check this website : https://bitcoinfees.earn.com, for the current network's preferable transaction fee.
1751  Economy / Speculation / Re: WHAT HAPPENS IF BITCOIN POPS? on: December 27, 2017, 06:24:37 PM
Hey ya'll, curious question from a newbie here. I was wondering what would really happen to everything if ever bitcoin does pop and lose a huge part of its value.

Can anyone give me understandings as to why that won't happen?
Bitcoin is like USD of cryptos. If it falls, the entire crypto economy will fall, money will start disappearing from the markets. And just so you know bitcoin is not a bubble for it to pop. There are so many factors that prove bitcoin not to be a bubble. The word bubble came to bitcoin only because of stock market buyers assuming shit. Do not tend to confuse bitcoin, my friend.
1752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XVG is dead on: December 27, 2017, 05:28:56 PM
If you actually did research on the coin. You would know that Wraith protocol was supposed to be out since september. They had it delayed so much that it was a perfect time for McAfee to buy the dip. Then we pumped the coin and it went to jupiters. Now people are finding out what a shit team XVG has and the dump has began. Run faster than you can. This coin is going back to it's old value before mcafee pump.
Whoa.. McAfee was behind this pump? No wonder the price went up more than 200%. Even if the team of XVG is full of shit, pump and dump groups will find an opportunity to temporarily make the coin popular and out of nowhere when people start buying it, the pump groups will dump the coin real bad. This is not the first time we're seeing a shitcoin being pumped and dumped. This has been happening since ages, even in the stock market, now in the crypto market.
1753  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you know any good sites for cryptocurrency trading signals or tips? on: December 27, 2017, 03:43:05 PM
Hi, I m looking for some groups, membership sites which offers high quality trading signals... Do you know some? Smiley
If you're looking for a really good one, you better opt off the paid groups where you have  to pay so much as premium but only once and it's one time payment for lifetime. However, going for these groups is not suggested one, they can scam people, exchanges block your account if you follow the signals of a crypto pump and dump group. It's always better to have your own mind to evaluate your trades in order for better results.
1754  Economy / Economics / Re: Do crypto exchange rates matter? on: December 27, 2017, 02:59:38 PM
Ok so I have to buy BTC and trade it for XRP in order to obtain some Ripple. Knowing how the forex market works, im wondering if I bought my BTC at 16k instead of 18k, would I be able to afford more XRP compared to buying BTC at 18k? or is it the exchange rate constant?

Thanks for the replies !!
It depends you know. If the price of btc/xrp increases, then you'll get less. Even if you buy at 18k the, amount of xrp you'll get will be less because you get less bitcoin. Suppose you buy bitcoin at 16k and you trade xrp with a higher price, then the obviously you'll get less xrp even though you'll get more bitcoin, you'll get less xrp due to increase in the price of Xrp.
1755  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Proof of BTC credit to an Exchange wallet. on: December 26, 2017, 08:12:04 PM
You have your address, run it up on block chain, if ever you made a withdrawal it'll show in the list of transactions made for that specific address, and then you can easily prove that you did send the bitcoin to that exchange given you put the correct address on the address bar. There are chances where you could have sent your bitcoin to the wrong address, so double check on your side first. If the exchange ask you for the ownership of the address you made the withdrawal from, you can sign a bitcoin message and prove yourself not guilty.
1756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Look like Christmastimes discount is over ? on: December 26, 2017, 07:43:33 PM
what do you think is it a real recovery for bitcoin?
Price is above 16k at the moment. This is good news, fresh money is entering in the market. Hunger for bitcoin is growing again. The demand will rise simultaneously and hopefully by the end of this month we can hit another all time high. This was a real quick recovery and the correction that was expected to be there ended up really fast, so we might see yet another correction next month or so.
1757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will BitcoinX be the TRUE bitcoin? on: December 26, 2017, 05:02:29 PM
SatoshiNakamoto posts this in Twitter:

https://twitter.com/bcx_org/status/938259426263277568

Is this true?
No Mate, it's not. Don't believe all the random stuff you see on the internet. There is a lot of lame shit out there, just to confuse people. Bitcoin is the true bitcoin, others are nothing but forks of bitcoin and they are shit. Don't bother wasting your time on it.
But there are times where people mistake evident sarcasm and think of it in a serious way.
1758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: fork SegWit2x on: December 26, 2017, 03:14:59 PM
Hi,
I'm a bit surprised, nobody is talking about the fork happening the 28th December.
Can anyone tell me what will happen to the coins on Coinbase & Binance :
- I've read Coinbase is going to implement SegWit2x during 2018. So I guess it will add the currency (like BitcoinCash).
- What about the BTC on Binance? How does it work in an exchange?
Please let me know if I'm missing anything else.
Thank you guys !
Coinbase has already credited its users the equivalent bitcoin cash to the amount of bitcoin they had on July 31st night/August 1 midnight only aa few days ago.
Binance is the most peferable exchange now, after the whole drama caused by Bittrex and poloniex. So yeah, you can use it.
The fork of 28th december has been announced only a few days ago, that's why you think only a few people are talking about it. One of the main reasons why is the lost hope in forks.
1759  Economy / Economics / Re: If You Hate Poverty, You Should Love Capitalism on: December 25, 2017, 04:54:21 PM
This is a decent youtube clip emphasizing positive aspects of capitalism.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n6ivGgb9RY

More fuel for the discussion on capitalism fire.

The main point alleged here is: "world poverty has fallen by 80% since 1970".

They claim capitalism is the main driving force behind reduced levels of poverty over the past 5 or so decades, which in turn implies capitalism creates elevated living standards.

I'd disagree entirely on the fact that poverty has reduced 80%. Hell it hasn't even reduced 10%. I have seen people suffer and even though the circulation of money in economies have increased. Not to mention the fact that, if circulation of money increases, the more number of goods and services are produced, the supply tends to be more leading to a chain effect to increase the demand and ultimately we are arrived at a conclusion where the rich get richer, poor get poorer. This has always been the story.
Capitalism is popular only in a few countries.  Laissez Faire proved to be a failure, socialism still exists but the people prefer to go for a mixed economy, but still corruption cannot be evaded and it is not helping the conditions of the poor get any better.
1760  Economy / Economics / Re: Can cryptocurrencies make physical money disappear? on: December 24, 2017, 11:08:20 AM
As we can see the cryptocurrencies are still being established in the knowledge, socialization and full utilization of humanity, could the cryptocurrencies cause the use of physical money to be eliminated, is this possible?
Can the world run out of dumbass and stupid people? Sadly, no.  Undecided The answer to your thread should also be the same. Crypto is considered to be more of an investment and less of a currency. Fiat was, is and always be a currency as the first priority, no one invests in fiat, and wait for a few years for the price to go up. But in crypto quite a lot of people do.
