There are people loving it, like there are people loving the news from 6 PM (those with car crashes and dramas and all the crap in the world).
And this means money, profits. They don't have to be masterpieces. Quick and dirty with big rewards. Pretty much the logo of our days' businesses.

There's no best way. Usually people talk about their own experience, or, when the price is growing and Bitcoin reaches the news, then those news can be taken into discussions.
But if you have no experience in Bitcoin, you may get to be perceived as somebody who want to earn from others' work (eg referrals) and maybe that's why you're approaching them.
Also bitcoin is not the best investment for everybody and if you talk about bitcoin as investment you may be perceived in a bad light. Even more, if you convince people buy bitcoin and then they panic sell at a loss, they may try to hold you responsible. It's not an easy task.

On the other hand, the technical parts of bitcoin are superb for the tech inclined. Or Bitcoin can be a very easy way to pay or be paid or simply send money abroad. If you go for technical details or for bitcoin-as-currency and mostly warn about the risks of bitcoin-as-investment, you may have better chances.

Or, you can simply pay with bitcoin for this or that jobs, so people do start finding it useful.

I am not 100% that my ideas are 100% valid, but I'll still write them down. At least if I'm wrong, I'll learn something useful.

I have the same problem. And the path I took was to install an Electrum server locally, using my local Bitcoin node. And I'm using Electrum with my node.


I think that if an agency has a lot of bitcoin core nodes in the network and you broadcast one after another transactions from those various addresses or wallets, there may be a small theoretical chance (I may be wrong with this though).
But you can disconnect now and then, hence getting different peers, and then I think that you should be fine.


I think that the tracking via Electrum servers can be done much easier than through Bitcoin core.
But if you go with completely different wallets and sessions I think that this is also an OK option. You may want though to also force Electrum connect to different server at each run (I don't know how to do that from Tails).

Exactly. One would pick some nice words, one could pick the words alphabetically, one may not know / care that those words can exist multiple times in a seed...

If somebody has issues with the seed generated by his wallet (works he doesn't know nor want for some reason), a better way is to simply generate 1-2 more wallets until the words are good enough. The result is that the seed is still much better than the one the user would have been picking by himself word by word.

Because the giant centralized crypto platforms that work on fractional reserves or no reserves at all because the lack of regulations and scrutiny must - sooner or later - disappear.
You gave FTX as example. If FTX would have been left alive, it would have been only wasting (much) more of investors' and users' money. Do you want the same from Binance (i.e. waste money) if it's the case?
Learn to keep your funds in your own wallet instead of others' pocket, then you won't care much if this or that platform falls.
And the price.. that will recover, don't worry, as soon as trust is restored in the industry.

Ar fi fost poate un pic mai interesant de vorbit cu cineva din echipă. Că momentan nici nu știu dacă se vrea un proiect într-adevăr util - un competitor real pentru Waze (care de când a fost cumpărat de Google mi-e teamă că nu mai prinde mulți ani) - sau doar încă un proiect care încearcă să vândă niște NFT-uri și jetoane, cât să aibă bani de mers la mare (fără supărare dacă mă înșel, dar e plin de acel gen de proiecte, știm cu toții).

Nu m-am gândit din acest punct de vedere, că până la urmă chiar și "datul cu părerea" după articolele unor ziare au "votare". Mândrie/orgoliu? Probabil, dar prea multă valoare sigur nu are
Dar este un punct de vedere valid și îl respect.


Asta se întâmplă și în cazul începătorilor, care, în fuga după a da un răspuns nu citesc ce s-a scris deja, se poate întâmpla căpoșilor care nu vor șterge un răspuns, uneori muncit, care în timp ce era scris a devenit inutil fiindcă altcineva deja a răspuns la fel, sau - mie mi s-a întâmplat o dată - poate fi "invalidat" de o completare ulterioară a unei postări făcute mai devreme.
Și mai e ceva: uneori un răspuns asemănător cu anteriorul poate să aibă sens - dacă aduce exemple și completări, de exemplu - sau sunt șanse (reale) ca cel care scrie să creadă asta deși nu este cazul

Eu aș zice că uneori am. În sensul că frunzăresc zeci de discuții și nu scriu nimic. Și ce? Să scriu doar ca să mă aflu în treabă? Nu, decât așa, mai bine "tac".


 
Aici, cu tot respectul, nu mă bag. Și știi de ce? Că nu ți-am urmărit în mod special postările. Nu sunt "șef de campanie". Din ceea ce știu nu scrii tâmpenii și nu scrii de calitate slabă. Dar mai mult nu sunt "calificat" să spun.


Sunt foarte mulți pe forum care au venit doar pentru un ban in plus. Ban pe care îl schimbă în moneda locală cât de repede au ocazia.
Hai să fim realiști, cei care s-au îmbogățit din Bitcoin se distrează și probabil că vin pe forum rar, puțin și din pasiune, deci mai degrabă pe partea tehnică.


Cât timp nu batem (prea tare) câmpii și scriem cu cap, nu cred că ar fi vreo problemă, întrucât:
* nu facem ziduri de text (steril)
* comasăm mai multe idei în dezbatere, deci practic comasăm mai multe posibile postări scurte

You are pretty much correct. I won't go into details that there's an average of 10 minutes and so on. But yes, if the hash rate drops a lot, the next adjustment will come in ... much later.
But the thing is that realistically it's very unlikely to have such a major drop. This is the beauty of being decentralized. Many countries/regions. Many not even using electricity from the grid. They can't all just go down all together.

I guess that you're referring to Bitcoin price here, since technically it works on proven math/IT/cryptography with easy to reach source code, nothing "untouchable" people have to "believe in".

So back to price. Bitcoin has scarcity and very well thought tech, but in order to have good price there's a need at least for demand. Hence a degree of trust is still needed.
Now, I see two group of "believers":
* those who understand fairly well the math and relationships behind this and will say "it's not a religion"
* those who don't grasp all this and just see the price go sky high now and then; they keep their fingers crossed or even pray to get rich (quick)

My advice is to learn as much as you can as fast as you can. And don't take rushed decisions.
* Crypto and bitcoin investments are different, with different risk levels. You may want to ignore everything that's not bitcoin until you "level up".
* Bitcoin price is very volatile. This means that if you don't know what you're doing and you're just rushing it, you can easily buy high and sell low. Now most tell that the price will soon start going up; there's no guarantee it will do so.
** Learn the basics and see if you get to indeed trust that bitcoin price will go up
** Make sure you invest only money you afford to lose or keep locked in bitcoin for long
** Learn about DCA
** Learn the difference between Bitcoin and "whatever Bitcoin" (various altcoins with Bitcoin in their name)
** Learn how to keep your bitcoins safe (learn to use a wallet, transactions and transaction fees, may buy a hardware wallet)
** Learn how to withdraw the coins to your custody (not your keys, not your coins)

Then you can start enjoying the ride.
You can skip or postpone steps, but it's your own decision to make: time (price) vs knowledge and risks to do things wrong. I don't know where the sweet spot is.

It all depends on screen size, resolution and browser settings (zoom).
I don't think that it makes much of a difference (both are small, lol!). I am not against it, but I also don't think it worth the hassle for the change.

I somewhat agree with SFR10 here: a more interesting change could be to also increase a little the size for normal post text too.

I don't know if this helps, but if I start a post, then click somewhere else (usually by mistake, no matter it's another topic or out-of-bitcointalk link), when I hit the back button my text is there, nothing is cleared.
So my first idea would be that maybe there's something on your local browser. I see PX-Z has the same conclusion.

Maybe you can try this with a fresh browser (either in VM, either a completely new browser than what you use on a daily basis). If it helps, I've tested this on both Chromium and Firefox.

Există persoane care vor scrie ca pe blog, uneori venind cu chestii într-adevăr noi și informative, există persoane care vin să își rezolve o problemă, există persoane care vor încerca (unii vor chiar reuși) să rezolve problema, sau există oameni care doar își dau cu părerea. Și bineînțeles, mai sunt cei care vor scrie x postări pe săptămână, fie au ceva de zis, fie nu. Nu toți sunt la fel. Și efortul poate să difere chiar și în cazul celorlalți - unii știu chestii, alții trebuie să le caute.
Clar, majoritatea încearcă să "facă treabă" cu cât mai puțin efort. Și din experiența mea, de multe ori treaba asta nu e nici măcar legată de faptul că postările ar fi plătite sau nu. (Adică am văzut comportament asemănător și pe Reddit, de exemplu; poate nu la același "nivel".)
În plus, a greși e omenește. Și totul este în regulă daca omul nu "perseverează" în a greșeli.


Cu cât mai multă lume este pe forum, cu atât mai mari șansele să scadă calitatea. Cel mai probabil toate afacerile din jurul forumul fac situația mai nasoală, dar cred că nu era prea roz nici fără...
Noroc cu meritele, că devenise super nasol la un moment dat...

2. Do you have a private key or a seed? You wrote about a key, then you said about addresses. I am asking because from a seed you may recover addresses on various derivation paths. This means that there's a chance you had in the past addresses that started with 1 and now you got in Electrum addresses starting with bc1. So it worth knowing what addresses you're expecting.
3. Maybe you check the expected address (not key, not seed!) on a block explorer like https://mempool.space and see if there are indeed funds in there.

If these don't help you may have to tell a bit more about your problem. Background - where's that key/seed from, how old the transactions, whatever you think it can help to understand what can cause your problem.

I find it more an attempt to milk recent events in the way Neflix has done it with F1 in "Drive to Survive". Just with actors. And for that a script mush be written fast.
I don't know if it has been done before by Hollywood this fast after the event.


It depends, since if there are too many references to past things (MtGox) or the context is getting widened enough (market cycles, Luna, Celsius, ..., plus the rivalry with Binance and CZ initial investment), they can even get longer than 8 episodes. Foarte multi - nu doar romani - cred ca pamantul se invarteste in jurul lor. Daca ei au reusit sa scrie (cred ei), lumea trebuie sa isi dea silinta sa inteleaga. Nu e vorba de regulile mai subtile, ca dubla spatiere. E vorba de alegerea cuvintelor, de a avea un sens in ceea ce este scris (da, uneori apar erori, mai ales cand omul mai adauga sau sterge ceva pe parcurs, dar nu vorbesc de greseli rare, vorbesc de cei care asa scriu intotdeauna), si da, aici intra si folosirea corecta a cuvintelor din limba in care considera omul ca scrie.
E aceeasi situatie ca si cu biciclistii noaptea pe strada: fara stopuri, fara faruri, fara nimic reflectorizant. Si daca le zice omul sa isi aprinda vreo lumina, raspunsul este ca ei vad si asa.

Este o idee grozava sa tindem spre mai bine - cu sau fara diacritice, cu sau fara dubla spatiere, uneori chiar cu sau fara toate virgulele puse unde ar trebui (!) - dar hai totusi sa nu ne comparam cu aia care abia daca reusesc sa isi scrie numele [adica, hai sa fim seriosi, cei "de fata" suntem mai rasariti]

La asta subscriu. Stiu de alte limbi unde s-a ajuns la tradus totul si se ajunge usor la situatii bizare. Cum limbajul este menit sa fie inteles de toti, traducerea substantivelor proprii este cel putin riscanta. Iar in acel caz eu consider ca este vorba de substantive proprii.

Actually I think that this a result of CZ FUD on Coinbase. He tweeted that Coinbase has issues / insufficient money, then removed that tweet later on, after it made its effects.
You can read on this on all news and also on bitcointalk (for example here).


Panic is never good on the market. Panic can easily take the price lower. And if, by chance, another exchange bites the dust... it will not be pretty.


This is a good question. I don't know the answer, but I can guess that Binance, no matter CZ advertisements and CZ throwing stones towards the competition, is also tested by withdrawals. Sadly, I don't know the magnitude of that.

Very good points. I advise everybody using this kind of services for the first time consider:
* getting the service URL from bitcointalk announcement page, to avoid going to a malicious clone
* make sure he reads the FAQ before using the service
* make screen captures with every step, so URL, amounts and similar things are visible, so if something goes wrong, people can see whether it was a malicious clone, a bug or a scam

I consider important taking this kind of precaution on any new service until one gets used to it, no matter it's a new mixer, new exchange or whatever.

If you go on this path you can most probably also consider that many electrum servers, block explorers, maybe even mining pools too may be created/owned by governments.
In the surveillance era you either go off grid, either take some chances. In most cases you are not targeted, even if, by chance, you've used government owned services too and your wallet privacy is (partially) lost.
Or, maybe we're just too paranoid. We may never know.

However, I loved the answer about CM being or not owned by govt:

You have no idea what you're talking about and what money means.
If he makes a properly backed stablecoin, then he cannot just give out that because he will soon spend all the funds (meaning he will have too much "backing" funds locked for that, which he won't be able to touch, unless he do scam like SBF)
If he makes a stablecoin that's not backed (so out of thin air), as soon as that's being found out, the stablecoin will become worthless and he may end up in jail.

So:
1. Crypto is not a get-rich-quick scheme.
2. No matter what he does, he won't give out free money.
3. You need to stop dreaming for free money and get learning so you can make yourself a proper future.
