1781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transferring BTC on: February 21, 2023, 03:13:00 PM
You can reuse the same Bitcoin address. However, if you want to maintain some privacy it's generally recommended to use a new address every time you want to receive payment.
So, that means those who've been using a single address for all their signature campaigns here are exposed somehow then 🤔. Anyway, I believe that sometimes, it's even good to keep it simply simple by reusing addresses. All these privacy induced precautions could even make one lose/misplace one's data and not remembering where it's kept. If you hide something hard enough, you might even end up losing recollection of where you've hidden it. To be frank, I don't even understand the rational behind all the address change when I know I don't go around broadcasting to people that I'm into crypto or that I hodl Bitcoin. The only people who will be in danger of this are the braggart who derive pleasure in boasting and displaying fake lives on social media.
1782  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Altcoin hold, sell or trade?? on: February 21, 2023, 01:55:06 PM
I've made more money trading and hodling altcoins than trading in Bitcoin. I believe this to be so for a greater percentage of users here too. However, I've also suffered greater disappointment and loss from trading altcoins too. If one gets it right, altcoin will make one richer faster than Bitcoin would. However, I won't advise newbies to go into altcoins except they truly know what they're doing.

But for you to enjoy bitcoin you need to hold at least 1 year or more.
You've to know that it's not automatic you make money from hodling Bitcoin for that length of time (even more). It depends on the period in question one is hodling it. If anyone is buying and hodling Bitcoin from now till one year there's certainty that one will make a nice ROI on it. This period is the expected good time for Bitcoin till 2015 when we're likely to have another dump period.
1783  Economy / Speculation / Re: How was your belief formed? on: February 21, 2023, 11:26:37 AM
I used to feel slighted back in the day when those I tried to talk to about Bitcoin would throw it in my face, mocking it as a scam. These were people who hadn't heard anything about Bitcoin before I introduced it to them, yet they mocked it instead of trying it out. That was in 2017. Some of them I even introduced to this forum but they later relented and dropped out. Fast forward to 2023, some of them are getting interested in the investment aspect of it. Sadly, I ain't that excited to waste my precious time on them anymore. I've moved on.
1784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advantage and disadvantage of cryptocurrency on: February 21, 2023, 09:34:18 AM
Disadvantages;
* it can be time consuming
How is it time consuming? Your assessment is ambivalent. I saw your account was registered barely four days ago and I believe this comment is contradictory. Perhaps, you should revisit this topic a year later to judge if you actually meant what you said here now. For all I know, apart from a few times in the past where the chains were congested and transactions were a bit lower, there are no financial transactions that are faster than doing it through cryptos. I've been waiting for two working days now to be credited for a fiat transfer I did to a trading platform. Were it a crypto transfer I'm sure it wouldn't have taken more than 1hr to reflect in my account. Now I understand why Satoshi said Bitcoin would cut off middlemen.
1785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Common Mistakes Made by New Crypto Investors on: February 21, 2023, 08:45:30 AM
-Lack of Basic Crypto Knowledge: Some people are drawn to cryptocurrency because of the excitement and profits associated with it. As a result, people become obsessed with making money and fail to understand how it works. Without the proper understanding, you run the risk of losing your assets quickly.
Here, you should've added "greed" too. Lack of crypto knowledge can be adjusted where the level of greed of the noob is under check. Sometimes investors get carried away by the ROI or APY promised without reading between the lines to discover the hidden scam. Last year I had to do an intense sensitization to some members of my church who were getting into a so-called BTCs mining site. I saw the format for registration on the site and knew it was not right. How do you ask people to do a KYC with passports and all that while the site had not debuted. I told my brethren it was going to end in tears. Did they listen to me? No! They were all carried away by the promises made by their uplines. Imagine turning crypto investment into an MLM 😂
1786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Doge really go to the moon? on: February 20, 2023, 06:08:20 PM
Does Elon really take doge to the moon?
Dogecoin has enjoyed tremendous goodwill from Elon Musk and that was what gave it that huge push when it got to $0.70+. Yes, I know the expectations are still there for it to hit another ATH now that Elon has fully come into the social media space by buying Twitter. One would expect Elon to accept Dogecoin as a payment option if he's genuinely in support of it or he just wants to be in the media space as a way of fighting boredom.
1787  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 20, 2023, 03:50:39 PM
~snipped
By that logic it means a year from the halving is also a bull market and we are out of the bear market right now and the bull market is ahead of us.
Yes, my keen observation of the market is that the bull season usually happens around the pre–halving year, the halving year itself and the post–halving year. They all have different dynamics driving them. In all, it's FOMO that drives them all through.

For me, while the FOMO in the Pre–halving year is driven by real fear of not wanting to miss out, the halving year itself is driven by expectations of what had happened before repeating itself and then the post-halving is driven by pure greed. The last is where Warren Buffet's principle of getting out of the market whenever others are getting greedy comes in. It's in the last that we usually experience a fresh ATH each time.

BTW, I don't believe the pre-halving bull rally starts a year to the next halving. I like to expect it from the last quarters of the year to the halving year. We might've started this year's rally earlier than expected if we judge by what it's happening in the market now. In some quarters, they still think that what we've now is even a trap.

However, it's surprising to me how anyone would include their surname to their moniker when it's not a professional career site/forum like we've in LinkedIn.

You're forgetting that the OP is still a child. He turns 16 on February 26th.
Ok, I see you've dug the lad out already 🙆‍♀️. Are you in anyway referring to his "sophomore" comment somewhere in the other thread? Well, to tell you the truth I tend to take what people say is their age on social forum with a pinch of salt, especially a faceless one like we've here where you don't get to see users' pictures.

Quote
He recently registered on the site, and we are already literally familiar with his entire history, including photos and videos.
That's the trend this day with people seeking validation online of whatever they do. It disgusts me and it's worse when you see adults do it. We see these shameless adults display their so called romantic life and wealth on Tiktok and Instagram just to give the globe the impression that their lives are better. What for?
1789  Other / Meta / Re: Can I pleaaaseeee change my name on: February 20, 2023, 02:39:52 PM
Just to clarify, Theymos implied in his PM to me that I didn't need to wait nearly as long as I did before he granted my name change (which was over 2 years I think).  He told me I should have been more persistent in reminding him, which I basically just did none of.
Your case won't be as that of OP. You're not just a veteran member, you're also a reputable one. Expectedly and quite understandably too, theymos will have a soft spot for users like that. If it were any different, theymos may not even have given the pm a second thought. If I were the OP, I would just create a fresh account and abandon this vexatious one instead of going through the wait and stress of expecting that the moniker would be changed. However, it's surprising to me how anyone would include their surname to their moniker when it's not a professional career site/forum like we've in LinkedIn.
1790  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Time to buy or sell? on: February 20, 2023, 01:29:36 PM
Hello,
I found following Crypto chart patterns:
https://i.postimg.cc/Mpn0KRfY/Crypto-Chart-Patterns.jpg

According to the following image, is it the Pennant?
Whether Pennant, Flag or whatever BO you're aiming for before you trigger a buy at this moment should be jettisoned if you're buying on the long term. Like I keep emphazing, Bitcoin is at a huge discount at this time. Even if price goes down after this post of mine, it still doesn't mean it's a bad time to buy. Buy and act like it's a forgotten investment. Then go back in 2024 to harvest it, that's when you will value the decision you will be taking now. That's if you do take that decision now.
1791  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If it was you on: February 20, 2023, 12:15:18 PM
No one is for newbies why because you could trade on any of it and lost your funds both are volatile...
I understand your POV on that. However when drawn in comparison, Spot trading seems easier to grasp and I believe that was the clarification OP sought.

Quote
for instance I was supposed to place a sell order of 0.00007BTC on spot trading I mistakenly placed it at 0.000007BTC and instantly it triggers and I lost all my funds without knowing it was my fault and this was my beginning stage to start trading. As then i was actually taking future trading to be the easiest, but recently after my experience with future I gat to understand is the most difficult one to deal with than spot trading.
Experience, they say, is the best teacher. You had a nasty experience there but glad that you learnt from it. Sometimes I get to find such ludicrous pending others in the trade book and instantly I conclude that such orders are from noob traders who are struggling placing orders. However, it goes to exemplify that one's loss is another's gain.
1792  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 20, 2023, 11:22:37 AM
Yeah, it surely does. That's why I made the analysis I did based on past records. The pattern is still there. May be in time to come we may start seeing a different pattern (which will also repeat itself for a while too) before moving on to another. For now, the old pattern still exists. When Bitcoin was dipping last year and a whole lot of investors were panicking I knew it was nothing. We even saw a worse scenario in 2018–2019. For anyone to take profit if they're already riding this bull rally, I think they should wait for Bitcoin to do a X2 on its previous ATH. I judged that from the rally of 2017 and 2021. Look at their new ATHs and crosseck with the previous ones. Check the multiples they did to get new ATHs.
1793  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 20, 2023, 07:43:15 AM
Ok so this is a little down the road from here but assuming after the next halving and bitcoin goes into another bull run, when would be a good time to sell?
In all honesty, no one can pinpoint the exact date when the bear will come upon the market. However, we can predict the year expectedly anyway; nonetheless with the mindset that we are also in a highly speculative industry where anything is possible. The way I like to judge my prediction is to expect the bear season two years from every Bitcoin halving year. I've taken this into cognizance from my two post halving experiences and it seems to work pretty well. For instance, from my speculation based on what I just explained, the next bear after the  coming halving in 2024 will begin in 2026. It happened on 2018. Repeated itself in 2022 too.
1794  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does this platform operate? on: February 19, 2023, 04:50:41 PM
I have gone through most board here and I have read through to see some rules and regulations.
You're half way through the regular unforseen problems that most users have here – that's not going through the rules of engagement here until they're trapped. You started well by doing that. I don't know if you stumbled on this forum like I did or you were directed here by a friend or loved one. If the latter was your case; then I believe they must've told you that this forum sticks to its rules. It's a strict place to be if you're someone who doesn't like keeping to rules. All the same, just feel free to make concise and constructive contributions to issues here. By that you will be adding to the growth of this forum.

I would also need some advice here on how to go about it which I believe there are some good Samaritan here that can guide me through to achieving it and making my stay here  meaningful in contributing my quota of existence on this platform.
I will appreciate your opinions, directions and lots more politely.
Thank you.
While I ain't a fan of people asking to be mentored here, l want to tell you to avoid anyone sending you pms asking you to subscribe to their channels or whatever. Most often such leads to scam. Beware.
1795  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we experience $80k this year? on: February 19, 2023, 02:44:46 PM
the price of BTC will surely reach $80k before the end of this year 2023.
Are you sure investors will experience $80 this year?
I know so many of us like to FOMO and don't see it as bad as FUD once it involves Bitcoin. Let me quickly run with the statement in quote. No, I don't think Bitcoin will get to that $80k forecast in 2023. The possibility of that happening is rare because this year isn't a bull year per say. I expect it to hover around N40k region if anything until we get into 2024. Nonetheless, I also have to constantly remind myself that this is an industry where anything is possible once it comes to price movements and volatility. If anything pushes Bitcoin to the level of your speculation ($80k) that means we should expect Bitcoin to hit around $240k+ in its next ATH after halving.
1796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin as gift on: February 18, 2023, 05:18:57 PM
I want to surprise him with $200 BTC because I can't attend his birthday party.
Really? That's around N150k. (I believe you're Nigerian) 🙄. Well, maybe you're one of the few early adopters in Naija sha to gift someone that huge amount. Moving on, since your friend is already showing interest in Bitcoin it will be a perfect time. However, you've to be certain you've drummed wallet security and safety into his head. Otherwise, your action of gifting him that huge amount will be the same as someone pouring water on a rock in futility. Wallet hacks are common this day.

I apologize for my mistake. I posted this with my phone and thought that it was okay.
Even with a phone you will still find out if it's bloated or not. I also post images here from a mobile phone. Just hit the "Preview" button before you post to peruse how your picture will look like when posted. Zoom in to get a clearer view. Normally width 150–300 will be ok, depending on what you're posting anyway.
1798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins to HODL on: February 18, 2023, 11:29:39 AM
My question is any other altcoins that I have missed or should check out?
Yeah, you missed out on BTToken (BitcoinTalkToken). We all do 🤡. On a more serious note, I think you are merely asking for the fun of it because you ought to know what makes a good token or a bad one by now. However, if you're truly genuine in your request I think you may want to consider exchange and launchpad tokens. This is a time for them to soar as we approach the Bitcoin halving year.
1799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of Delisted Alts from KuCoin!!! on: February 18, 2023, 09:57:33 AM
That of Tomochain surprised me, actually. I thought that project is a good one but don't know what indeed happened. I quickly did a check on its price immediately I saw this thread. It's trading around 42cents now and that's still way ahead of its ATL which was 13cents according to Coingecko data. Tomo was one of those projects I missed buying at its earlier stage as it was already high when I noticed it. Now that this news is emanating, I think I'm going to consider taking another look at it. Perhaps after the drama, who knows it may still be there for a taking.
1800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bad feeling like a bomb is gonna go off on: February 18, 2023, 08:42:46 AM
I got a bad feeling about today and/or tomorrow. Keep close eye out and react quickly. Hope I am wrong, but its strong enough feeling I just had to say something.
With the turn of events now you must've discovered how wrong your premonition was. The market is in uptrend. The thing about any rally, whether bull or bear, there's often a moment for price correction and that seems to break movement. Every professional traders knows that price doesn't continue on a steady slope or hill. There are breaks along the road. So, let your premonition not scare you. Crypto is on the high scale despite the flashes of dump here and there.
