I bet you there is abuse in 9 out of 10 churches.

You have gone off the deep end.

The whole organization is suspect because they were complicit in the crimes.  It is like doing raids on gang members in different crack houses.

Why not?  Just because it is an organization that scams people and promises them afterlife?

The management of this business is responsible.  All operations should be investigated.
1822  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you believe God exists? on: October 14, 2018, 12:40:34 PM
Dawkins actually sacrificed himself to Richard to save us all. All hail the true God. I'm so tired of people quoting the bible, they don't even realize how stupid it is.
Know O intelligent people, actually Rob you who created you from the beginning did not exist and have educated you with His favors are (Allah) Rob of the universe. And the people of their understanding believe in the Most High [[2]], they do not see Him with their eyes, but they have seen evidence that shows His existence, and that He is the Creator Who Takes Care of all there are, they know him with the evidence.

I am assuming you are a Muslim.  So here it is.

Quran 5:90 - it says drinking alcohol is work of Satan and it is strictly forbidden
Quran 47:15 - why did Allah (I mean Satan) create rivers full of wine in heaven?

You guys should admit that people who wrote these books were not very intelligent to even cross reference what they wrote, then we can move on past these books and work together to better humanity.

Earth is not flat, it rotates on its axis and orbits the Sun.  Put those books away, or burn them and take responsibility for your life.  Enjoy it, you only got one life to live so make most of it.
1823  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexual abuse in catholic church - enough already! on: October 14, 2018, 03:38:26 AM
All churches should be closed and the staff should be investigated to see if any sex crimes have been committed.

At least pretend to be realistic. There's no denying that the church has been complicit in at least some of the crimes committed by it's 'employees', but as in any other situation, tarring everyone with the same brush never turns out well for anyone. It's the same as saying 'All Muslims are the same', 'All Americans are the same', etc. etc. It creates a siege mentality and doesn't solve anything in the long run. Hopefully we will see more convictions of those who have been involved either directly or indirectly through covering up, and going forward, more checks and balances in place to prevent (or at least reduce the risk of) it happening in the future.

Check the statistics, almost all cases of child molestation are unreported.

http://content.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1863650,00.html

I suspect that this problem is bigger than people realize.  Think about it, grown men do not have sex with women/men for most of their lives, what you think happens to them?  Their sexual confidence is shattered, they wack off to whatever they can, eventually become sexually deviant and want to fuck anything that moves.  The fact that they do not have normal sexual lives with other adult men or women is really affecting them psychologically.

I bet you there is abuse in 9 out of 10 churches.

Did you choose your religion, or did your parents choose it for you?

You have a point. This is how they maintain their ranks, if we put it this way - include children in religion while they still don`t have their own opinion and thus can`t choose to join or not.
The most rational solution is to wait until a child is grown up so he can decide for himself. Religious upbringing steals free will from a person, though I think religious people will disagree.
No offence meant, I am just sharing my opinion on upbringing - the way I will choose with my own children.

Teach them science, then open the Bible on page one.  They will not have to read the rest of it.  The first page is all they will need to conclude that people who wrote the Bible did not know much about the world around them.  Never mind the imaginary God who inspired the Bible.

Education is the key.

It's a situation more like "the priests can do no wrong", it's actually sickening the way and manner the church and surprisingly it's members leap to the support of the faltering priest...

You claim there's no proof,Why transfer the priest to a different parish if he isn't guilty, and of what gain will it be to a young girl accusing a priest of sexual abuse, knowing the accompanied damnation and unnecessary furore it'll cause..

More actions have to be taken on this issues, and our eyes have to be lifted far higher than simply religion, no one is above the law,the law should always take its full course in issues such as this

But sadly I doubt actions will be taken for the past and future menacing deeds

No children should be allowed within 1000 ft of any church.

I blame parents who take kids to these houses of pedophiles.

People don't want pedophiles in their neighborhoods but take kids to see them   Angry

This is nuts.  All churches should be closed and the staff should be investigated to see if any sex crimes have been committed.

BTW, atter or gravitawhich verse in your Christian Bible talks about Dark Mtional lensing?
Give me the verse or be quiet forever about your imaginary friend who knows as much as it is in front of him.
I will give a little Christian biblical verse that God exists
1:27 Only let your life be in accordance with the gospel of Christ, so that when I come I see, and when I do not come I hear, that you stand firm in one spirit, and one soul striving for faith that arises from the News The gospel.

this is the 2nd verse of the Christian Bible, Jesus said:

One offspring goes and another comes, but the earth remains. e 1: 5 The sun rises 14, the sun sets, then rushes to the place where it rises again. 1: 6 The wind blows to the south, then turns to the north, it constantly turns, and in its turn the wind returns. 1: 7 All rivers flow into the sea, but the sea is not full; where the river flows, where the river flows always. 1: 8 All things are tedious, so they are not spoken by men; the eyes are not full to see, the ears are not satisfied to hear. 1: 9 What was there will be again, and what has been made will be made again; i have nothing new under the sun 15. 1:10 Is there anything that can be said: "Look, this is new!" But it was there first, long before we were there.

Hmm, that is not what my book of af_newbie says and I quote:

Book of Richard 2:14 "There is no God in any shape or form. Science works, bitches"

You might look for some other evidence to resolve these differences.
1827  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you believe God exists? on: October 13, 2018, 04:35:46 PM
How many things can’t humans see or here, but in reality they exists?

Assuming you meant "hear" not "here"

Nothing... everything science believes to exist can be seen with your eye, a tool like a microscope, or it can be seen by the way it effects other objects around it (like the wind)

If it can't be seen or measured in some way (i.e., it makes no observable effect on anything), then it doesn't exist

How many heavenly objects are far billions, maybe even trillions of light years that humans have never seen, but they actually exists?

You had me at "trillions of light years"... I'd recommend studying astrophysics... the observable universe is not nearly that big

Please do some research before pulling shit out of your ass... please

Of course, nobody knows that the universe isn't that big. After all, when light has to travel from that far away for it to be visible, we wouldn't have instruments sensitive to register such light. In addition, dark matter might get in the way of the light that is coming from out there so that it simply doesn't get here. Standard astrophysics understands this. They simply talk about it so little that you have to dig to find it.

Cool

I told you to stay away from science and keep learning how to tie your shoes.

Matter (including the Dark Matter) bends space-time and light travels through that space. Dark Matter does not block light.
Google "gravitational lensing".

BTW, which verse in your Christian Bible talks about Dark Matter or gravitational lensing?

Give me the verse or be quiet forever about your imaginary friend who knows as much as it is in front of him.

Nowadays all countries only pay attention to the academic, they never pay attention to the moral education anymore, now more people are very rude and don't respect elders anymore, and we come to one point where people hackers are cool, people are proud to be hacker, don't they realize that hacker are actually stealing from other people?

Nowadays scammers are everywhere, and they proud to be a scammer and called their victim an idiot who falls into their trap, they got no shame anymore to do bad things, I think all of this happen due to the lack of moral education

Moral education supposed to be taught at school and the parents also need to responsible to teach their children, moral education can make the world become better place to live

Are you sure moral education is the only problem?

1830  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Unexplained wealth order on: October 13, 2018, 01:07:46 PM
My ears perked up a bit as I was driving to work and I caught parts of a story involving this interesting tool. So from what I understand it is currently aimed at foreign officials and their families, strictly in the UK.

Say you appear on paper to have to much money, granted the case I heard was fairly extravagant, but the problem was the state had no proof. So the new law requires you to prove your wealth is legitimate. Now I thought this may be of particular interest here as I've heard a couple people may have made a large amount of money in crypto.

It just seems baffling to me that instead of investigating and building a case they are requiring people to prove they earned the money legally themselves. If you can't you lose and they have the authority at that point to begin seizing assets. Now depending on how the UK at the time favors BTC or any crypto for the sake of this discussion, they could attempt to force a forfeiture of your property. I just wonder how long before powers such as this are expanded to encompass a larger sample of people with unexplained personal wealth.

Governments around the world have become way too big and they need money to maintain their growth.

I think this intrusive actions will intensify as governments will dig deeper to extract more from its citizens.  A few years back they shut down offshore banking for non-residents, now they look deeper.

The solution is not to be tied to one particular country, have multiple passports, maintain residency in tax-free locale while keeping money in multiple locations around the world.  Go where they treat you best.  Keep everything under corporation names.

Though others says that evolution of people exist from a monkey we can really tell if the fossils found in several studies that they are a monkeys. But maybe they are only monkey like but not as like much as a monkey. 1833  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pseudoscience is Modern Medicine on: October 11, 2018, 02:30:49 PM
Modern Medicines are of great help in case of extreme emergency cases.  Life threats must be dealt immediately with these medicines to save life.  But using it for each and every sickness is very much dangerous.  All these medicines have side effects.  If these cure one decease; they generate several reasons for new start of other deceases.  There are some common deceases like blood pressure ; blood sugar; where these medicines have completely failed.  The patient has to consume pills for life time.  These do not cure; just suppress the level of BP or sugar, cholesterol etc.  Not even a single man is cured by using these medicines.  If you continuously consume cholesterol medicine; after 2-3 years it will be affecting your bones; kidney etc.  So IMO that it is just foolish to use this lifetime.

Homeopathic ; Ayurveda medicines are alternative having no side effects.  I also suggest if one has option to use either of these two ; they should prefer these only.  And if your baby suffers from some decease ; never make him habitual of modern medicine.  Always get treatment for the baby from Ayurveda / Homeopathic doctor.

Third and best option is Yoga and pranayam.  Yoga is not just physical exercise.  If you can spare one hour a day in the morning; I guarantee that you will see the  results in just 3-6 months.  Your efficiency will increase.  There is no decease in the universe which can not be cured under this system for if not 100% but for +95% cases.  If you get your training from some expert trainer for few months it will be better.  Or else your can follow . world famous Yoga master Swami Ramdev on facebook twitter etc.  His videos are uploaded on you tube also.
https://twitter.com/yogrishiramdev
https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=swami%20ramdev%20yoga%20classic
https://www.facebook.com/NewsNationChannel/videos/1324166504347714/

If one visits India ; can visit his Ashram (institution)  the Patanjali Yogpeeth at Hardwar where he himself conducts yoga classes.  Stay; food of good quality is also available there.  You may learn by watching his videos too.
In addition to above Pranayama (deep breathing exercise) if done for half an hour.  99.9% deceases can be cured.  It is just free no fee.  But with best results.
I have experienced yoga and pranayam. Smiley

Putting a name on something does not make it any more valuable. Ayurveda medicines?  Never heard of it.

You might get really sick eating herbs, following a vegan, Ayurveda, vegetarian or traditional diet.  You really have to know where the fish, meat, eggs, your fruits, and vegetables come from.  Just because you call yourself Ayurveda or Vegan will not make you healthy.

Reducing stress, eating mostly plant-based diet, with lots of physical exercise (I recommend calisthenics) is the way to go.  Learn how to cook, stop eating out, stop consuming processed food, stop smoking, drinking alcohol, read the labels etc. that is the fastest way to become healthy.  Walk or run every day, do push-ups, pull-ups, muscle-ups every day and you will feel and look good.

Relaxation and meditation I have not tried, I'll give it a go.   Seems like a good idea.

PS.  If you have a stressful job, change it or retire early.
1834  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pseudoscience is Modern Medicine on: October 10, 2018, 01:30:49 PM
Okay, I see where you are coming from. However I can't say that I would agree that "more hours on the subject" is related to a "fixed idea in medicine." Particularly the presence or absence of a course means little.

Absolutely. What af_newbie has pointed out is an apparent failing of US medical schools. It says nothing about nutrition being a "fixed idea". Now, I didn't train and don't work in the US, but where I trained we had a specific nutrition module, covering everything from the basics of carbs/fats/protein, right through to the hormones involved in hunger and the molecular generation of energy, as well as touching on nutrition when relevant to something else we were learning.

Certainly in Intensive Care, nutrition is hugely important to what we do. We have a range of different liquid feeds available, all with their own pros and cons. We have a specialist ICU dietician attend the unit every day to assess patients' nutritional needs and set up a personalized nutritional plan for each patient. There are many studies, with new ones coming out all the time regarding type of nutrition (gastric feed versus intravenous nutrition), type of feed used, timing of feed, rate of delivery, electrolyte/mineral/vitamin supplementation, etc, etc. There is certainly no "fixed idea" that nutrition isn't important, and similarly there is no "fixed idea" that one type of regime of nutrition is the best.

Now, if US med schools aren't teaching nutrition, and US doctors don't feel confident in talking to patients about what constitutes a healthy diet, then it might help to explain why the US has one of highest incidences of obesity in the world.

Maybe the "fixed idea" was the wrong word.  I agree. I should have said the "prevalent opinion in the medical profession".  Most doctors dismiss nutrition as completely irrelevant.  They know drugs work and work fast without changing the patient's lifestyle.

As for the nutrition itself, well, everybody is different (metabolism, activity level) but most people benefit from "mostly plant-based" diets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX58PyQwrcI

I tried the mostly plant-based diet (plus eggs and fish) and I drank only water for 6 months, my HDL is 40, LDL is 82 (still high), total cholesterol is 140 (went down from 270), my BMI went from 24 to 20.  When my doctor saw my blood test results, she ordered a second test to validate the results.  Now we exchange tips on the best sources of macros and micros.  She never saw such a big improvement in her 40 years of being a family doctor.  Oh, and the side effect was that my testosterone went to 798, and I am in my early 50s.

I want to get it to 117 total cholesterol like that old guy in the video.

Now, I firmly believe that we are what we eat.
1835  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pseudoscience is Modern Medicine on: October 09, 2018, 09:05:14 PM
....
One "fixed idea" in medicine is that nutrition does not play a significant role in overall health.  It used to be important not long ago.
...
I don't think this is a fixed idea in medicine.

It's impossible, becomes of several basic precepts.

Even cases where there is currently a debate on the facts, such as butter vs margarine, red meat vs on red meat, artificial sweeteners...the debate itself falsifies your assertion. Whichever is true, it's not fixed, right?

FYI, I was talking about the medical profession, specifically the medical education.

Read the content provided in the links in my previous post.  Some medical schools don't teach nutrition at all.
1836  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pseudoscience is Modern Medicine on: October 09, 2018, 03:02:29 PM
Is this sarcasm? You think modern medicine has no peer review? Has non-repeatable results? Has fixed ideas?

There are hundreds of medical journals being published every month, including some of the most famous journals in the world - The Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine, The British Medical Journal - which combined are publishing thousands of peer reviewed articles every month. Many journals have Editorials and/or Letters sections, rife with disagreements and criticisms of various studies, methods, practices and the like. I mean, the mere fact that we don't still use chloroform for anesthesia and diabetes is no longer fatal means that medicine doesn't have "fixed ideas".

One "fixed idea" in medicine is that nutrition does not play a significant role in overall health.  It used to be important not long ago.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2430660/

https://www.bmj.com/content/359/bmj.j4861.full

https://www.hindawi.com/journals/jbe/2015/357627/

Only 30% of US medical schools offer a separate nutrition course.

Food has changed over the years and it continues to change, new food substitutes, processed foods are being marketed to the unsuspected public, but the medical profession ignores the changes.

Most people over 40 are either overweight or obese.  Why is that?  Nobody cares.

Kinda neat how 70% of them make it into both top-10 lists, eh?  (also note, USA did not make it into the top-10)

ROFLOL, Countries with high taxes and lots of social programs are not SOCIALIST.  You obviously don't know what socialism is.  Try again.

Praytell, what is socialism then?  Don't say I'm wrong without providing "correct" information for me, that's just rude (not that I even made a claim about socialism, I simply googled it)

It's not even "my" list... do you need me to google this for you AGAIN?!?

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=top+socialist+countries

Let me try.  Socialism is a social structure where the means of production and its distribution is controlled by all members of that structure.

A capitalist system with lots of social programs is not a socialist system.  In the countries on your list, people do not decide how the economic system is run.  Capitalists do that.

Equality of outcomes for the 99% does not make the system a socialist system.  Capitalists still run and control such systems.

Hello;

Please I want to discuss a very important topic, it's about the relation between Islam and extremism.

I Don't know why people are still believing that all muslims are terrorists, or extremists, I know that the majority of Muslim countries suffers from lack of democracy, but people and youth in these countries know crypto, use Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, Instagram… etc. listen to music, have boy or girlfriend, etc.

I personally suffer from those haters especially when I travel.

So, Where is the problem? I Don't know?

I think that problem lies with the people judging the muslim people as terrorist. There's no problem being a muslim, muslim are also people that need, love, care, and support from other people, whatever religion or race you're in. Being a muslim is not a problem at all, the true problem is those people who point there fingers on other people and judge them base on their appearance.

What do you think about these people:

is this a problem in YOUR opinion?
1840  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Albert Einstein Letter Calling God a “Product of Human Weakness” is Up for Sale on: October 06, 2018, 02:49:01 AM
I don't want to derail this thread too much but it's clear that highly intelligent individuals know that socialism is a superior system to capitalism.  Capitalism takes the excess wealth that is created by workers and gives it to the owners who do nothing.  Capitalism is self destructive and we are already seeing the effects of it.

The problem, nearly a hundred years ago, was logistics of resource distribution. The average human didn't have instantaneous communication.

We had no way to monitor resources to get a real time accurate inventory for centralized pooling of resources to distribute.

Simply put; socialism back then would have slowed down progress in many areas.

Overall, Einstein was absolutely brilliant, and I agree with him that socialism is the best form of industry.

Socialism is very demotivating.  It assumes that we are all equal and tries to distribute the outcomes.  It demotivates the most productive members of the society and in a long-run it leads to the economic collapse.

Capitalism is cruel, unfair, unjust, outright criminal in some cases, but it is a system that best resembles our human nature.
Greed is a great motivator.  Best products are developed in capitalist societies.

We are all different, some of us are smarter than others, more hard working than others, better looking than others and are rewarded accordingly.
