what is happening around Bitcoin businesses ? Butterfly Labs website also mysteriously went down and left so many customers who pre-ordered millions of dollars into their new generation hardware empty hands...

Seems to have been just a temporary glitch of their webserver (and a bit of healthy paranoia).

it is still not working for me ....
BFL's website often goes offline, or is so slow that it barely works or is replaced by a Cloudflare page

the server is online the ping response is just impressive, there is no DDOS looking at that response time:

and the source page is totaly empty.....

Server down or BFL run away?

the server is not offline

3/1/14 – Popular Bitcoin ASIC hardware/software company ButterflyLabs has mysteriously disappeared Friday evening. The company was just getting ready to roll-out their 600/GH and 300/GH cards that many individuals and companies have pre-ordered as early as 8 months ago. Their website currently just shows an empty blank white page at the moment. Although upon deeper digging, some of their directories still exist on the server. Reddit user “isdnpro” suggests, “In this case it’s HTTP 500 which is Internal Server Error, as opposed to serving up a HTTP 200 (Request OK) response with no content.” (source)  This could mean that we are only seeing a temporary problem, but we don’t have any way to confirm that at this time.

Besides that, the ButterflyLabs Twitter page is also not showing any new signs of activity. Does this mean that ButterflyLabs is also going to leave us as well?

This comes just a few days after MtGox, a highly used Bitcoin/USD trading platform, went down due to mistakes made in the security of the platform.

What is next for Bitcoin? All I can say is that we are in for a bumpy ride – so strap on your seat-belts and hold on.

UPDATE: The ButterflyLabs forum still seems to be online, but the main website is still not loading correctly.

(I will be updating this page if any new information comes in. Feel free to comment if you know what is going on. Our official Reddit comment thread is located here)

Looking at the 4 hour charts, it looks like we are entering a recovery phase. Then again, what do I know!

there is no recovering phase just yet, but it could happen if :

1- there will be a huge volume pushing the price up for a couple of days, for example if somehow buying starts and price gows up to 750 and stay there for a couple of days then this could change the trend.
2- the 550 resist with volume for a couple of weeks and stay somehow stable at this level, this could also mean a reversal and that we are past this bubble..
3- huge bids build up all around 500-550, in meaning that no matter what kind of dump the price will resist, this is similar to 2

otherwise, I still see price dropping  4h chart is still on the downtrend, 6h and 12H will cross soon, 1d is showing a shady bullish sign without any volume, 3d is showing a down trend for few months now and with huge gab between the 12 period and the 26 period.

Conclusion, our only saver now is a huge volume that can push the price up or keep it so long at this level for a couple of weeks..

BTW to whom think that stolen coins can be easily sold on exchanges, especially bitstamp, this is what I got from them when I requested a big withdrawal, I was flagged by their system right away and they asked me these questions and i had to prove my ownership of the funds:

We received your withdrawal request. As your withdrawal request met some of our volume and frequency thresholds, we will have to kindly ask you to help us better understand the nature of your relationship with Bitstamp. In order to do so, we require that an additional KYC (know your customer) procedure is completed before we can proceed with the processing of your transfer.

We kindly ask you to answer the following KYC questionnaire:

1. How did you learn about Bitcoin?
2. The purpose of trading on Bitstamp?
3. What is the origin of the deposited Bitcoins? If mining, please specify your hardware specifications and submit a receipt or an invoice for your mining equipment.
4. When and how did you obtain your Bitcoins?
5. What is the reason for your activity - depositing BTC, selling, withdrawing?
6. What are your future plans and activities planned on our exchange?
7. Do you plan more of such withdrawals in the future? If yes, how many and why?
8. Which bank are you using? Please provide the complete address and SWIFT code.

We kindly ask you to submit your answers and documents in a reply to this ticket.

Can't believe that it takes bitstamp 30 seconds to put order out of queue to order book.

that happens on heavy traffic
1878  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 28, 2014, 08:42:05 PM
constant dumping at stamp... more than 1k dumped the last 30 min

Karpeles getting rid of his coins so soon?

well the roumers about stolen coins being dumped is just not legit, you cant dump stolen coins in stamp, maybe this could be possible on BTC-e but sure not Bitstamp, they have this AML strict policy... but anyway the 4h MACD just crossed as predicted, lets see how low will this take us.

1880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can someone explain how the price is so stable all of a sudden? on: February 28, 2014, 05:46:04 PM
I think a good portion of the volatility the market experiences is due to amateur traders who still think this is a fully under ground internet play thing that they can go in and out of, take profits, buy, sell, whatever with no accounting or concern for tax obligations or reporting of any kind.  I think an awareness of these sorts of obligations to accounting dampen volatility a bit in typical financial markets.

it is legal in Slovenia Wink capital gains are Tax free, speculation on an asset/stock is legal as long as you can prove the logs and source on income, I am thankful that I live here Smiley
