2001  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Why is it so hard to build an exchange thats unhackable? on: December 27, 2022, 11:55:06 PM
Users create an account, go through KYC, and add funds via a debit card.

When a user creates an account they provide a seed phrase, and this can be used to generate a hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallet.

Why would they provide a seed phrase that's pretty risky to share a seed online or to any exchange users should only provide a public key address, not the seed phrase only the owner should know the seed phrase because if someone knows it they also have full control of their wallets. How can users trust you if you ask for a seed phrase that's too risky there is no exchange that asks for a seed phrase.
2002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin decimals. Is 1.00000000 Bitcoin the same as 1.000000000000 Bitcoin? on: December 27, 2022, 11:15:37 PM
Currently, the smallest unit is mSat or 0.001 satoshi but I think if the price of 1 sat will become $1 each then why not use sat with decimals like 1.4453 sats as an example or use mSat I believe that it would be enough. No more new units only mSat is the smallest one look at the chart below

2003  Other / Archival / Re: Who Know this Privtekey on: December 27, 2022, 06:03:34 PM
I tried to read the para 3 you pointed to it actually blew my mind it explains about subgroup attacks but look at the forum and bitcoins users why do they still post their BTC addresses publicly?

It means no one can able to calculate and find the private key of any public BTC addresses have you tried to search it through Google? You should find something like this "it is impossible to derive the private key from the public key".

And please read this "Technical background of version 1 Bitcoin addresses"
2004  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any security risk of running a bitcoin node? on: December 27, 2022, 04:54:59 PM
Are you planning tonsolo mine with full node? Take note mining Bitcoin needs ASIC machine to be able to mine Bitcoin and you don't need to have a full node just to mine BTC.
And mining Bitcoin needs low ping and stable internet if you are going to use VPN you will get high stale shares due to high ping.

So if you are going to mine instead of having a full node better use mining pools without VPN(without tor as suggested above).
2005  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PR / Marketing for dApps, Web3 project. Need help on: December 26, 2022, 11:53:34 PM
Since you are a marketer do you have knowledge about SEO?
Then if you have why not try CPA networks that pay crypto or Bitcoin?

You can check algo-affiliates and promote some of their offers check their info here https://www.affpaying.com/algoaffiliates

Or other CPA networks that pays with Bitcoin you can this one below

You can also use that tool to find other CPA networks that pays in Bitcoin.
2006  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Better efficiency coming to your S19 from Bitmain on: December 26, 2022, 11:32:16 PM

Is this the new firmware or the new new firmware that is about to be released!!!!  Wink

I think he is talking about the new firmware which already released with a power efficiency.

You can do some experiment if you unplug the blue wire but if this wire is unplug I'm sure the fan will force to run at 100% speed(but to him it blocked to run at full speed). You can test it and let see if it can help to improve efficiency but I guess the fan will eat much power vs lowering the chip temp.
2007  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Can not log in to my blockchain info account on: December 26, 2022, 11:00:32 PM
I think if you created a bitcoin wallet before on blockchain.info you must have wallet.aes.json it is an encrypted file with your private keys or your wallet inside. Do you still have this file?

Import it here https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet
Then use your password.

If no then I think blockchain said  you can contact them if you know your email and password for wallet recovery so try to contact them.
2008  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTCWorm.com - exchanger (BTC/ETH/XRP/XMR/DASH/ZEC/DOG/TRX/BCH/ADA/USDT) on: December 25, 2022, 11:51:49 PM
Not worth to use since they do have an AML policy they should only apply it to those who live in the EU countries, not to other countries or 3rd world countries.

So I think they will ask for KYC verification before you can able to use their service which I think is pretty risky for a new website.

If you are a legal exchange you must have a public location or building since you are applying almost all legal procedures from your exchange.
2009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ubuntu storage with Bitcoin Core on: December 25, 2022, 11:14:29 PM
What exactly is your problem? I don't get it but it looks like you talking about syncing issue that only downloads a few blockchains.

Have you tried to uncheck the prune on the settings?
Because if you didn't it would download only the partial blockchain disabling it will bitcoin core download the whole blockchain.
2010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Proper way to use JoinMarket's sendpayment starting from a cold wallet? on: December 23, 2022, 11:46:03 PM
Is this a Joinmarket-QT where you need to install it to your PC? I never heard of this before

I think the way you are thinking is right since your wallet is installed on an offline machine or cold storage you need to send the amount you want to deposit to Joinmarket you don't need to expose your wallet because you are using a cold wallet. Or for safety if you value your privacy why not use other mixers before you deposit them into your Joinmarket wallet?

About figuring out the original uTXO based on timing I don't think you can easily find them unless if you are going to use a chainalysis they have a tool that I think can able to track them.
2011  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: virtual debit card for non-EU? Virtual card for samsung pay? on: December 23, 2022, 11:26:47 PM
I think you can try https://paywithmoon.com/ they do accept crypto that I think will work with Samsung pay or Check this list below

2012  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Issue with GekkoScience 8 Port Base Hub on: December 23, 2022, 05:31:08 PM
This is common issue of the power supply since the 2 slots have power but the other 4 slots do not have power it means the power supply is not giving enough power bloated or busted capacitors that I know that cause this issue.
2013  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: niceasicminer.com - is it legit? on: December 23, 2022, 05:08:19 PM
niceminer have provide contact info so directly connect and confirm it's trusted or not Huh
If you are going to contact them and ask them it's obvious they will tell you that they are legit even if it is not.

Really, we don't know niceasicminer was legit site's or not but we read one of guy buying miner from that site and received it.... Undecided

Where did you read? Is it from a trusted site and people?
Even if there is one buyer who bought miner from them it doesn't mean you need to buy look at the whois it shows you it's new and never mention it here before so no one knows here that website exists unless you are trying to promote it? Look at your account it's newbie you just created this account to promote them.
2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet Encryption on: December 22, 2022, 11:59:46 PM
Not all repair guy knows how Bitcoin wallet works but they know what is bitcoin the only problem is if your wallet is un-encrypted then there is a big chance that techy still have a backup or access to that wallet anytime he can able to transfer your funds to another wallet.
So the only option here is to create a new wallet and transfer all funds to a new wallet.

But I think that techy guy just telling you that he can able to recover any Bitcoin wallet and he means that you can trust him? Or he means that he knows Bitcoin but does not have deep knowledge about bitcoin it's just my guess maybe.
2015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgrade issues on: December 22, 2022, 11:36:57 PM
OK interesting. I installed libxcb-xinerama0 and ran my script. Qt popped up and then error stating conflict saying it couldn't run with listen 0 and listenonion 1. Changed both to 0 and now its updating blocks since shutdown 2 days ago. Didn't realize I didn't restart. 308 blocks left proper version 24.0.1.   It ran that way before, should both be 1 for for?

It seems its related to this error "Unable to open bitcoin-qt when incoming connections disabled in settings"

Are these listen 0 and listenonion 1 are in your Bitcoin core config? I think both of them are enabled by default but would you mind trying to remove them from your bitcoin core config or just setting up both of them into 1 to enable them?

But if your current settings are running fine just leave it like other users they having the same issue but the others with the same settings they don't get this error.

Or if you just want to use it as normal try the suggestion from GitHub to run bitcoin-qt -resetguisettings to reset the settings

Adding this if you are planning to run your core with TOR then check this discussion here "Bitcoin node over TOR"
2016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Futurebit apollo fullnode on: December 22, 2022, 10:59:30 PM
Since these units eat power of around 200w I don't think it would be worth mining solo but why not participate on the lightning network?
I think you can earn some BTC by having a lightning network?

Read more here Can you earn passive income running a Lightning node?
2017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: December 22, 2022, 11:50:13 AM
For me, even if it is your husband or your wife you shouldn't share your seed phrase with anyone there is a possibility that he or she can be interested in withdrawing your funds from your wallet without your consent and the bad part is if s/he won't admit it or even s/he didn't make any transaction from your wallet if your wallet is hacked by someone else I'm sure you will blame him/her that leads to divorce.

That's not good for relationship it is fine to share the password not the seed phrase.
2018  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is cloud mining profitable in 2022? on: December 22, 2022, 11:18:14 AM
No one that I heard makes money in Cloud mining unless you are one of those who made and promote cloud mining sites.
Are you?

Then for you its profitable since you scam people I am one of people who invest in cloud mining before I invest a few times but in the end, nothing is profitable all of them are scams.

Except if the miner exists and the website is trusted where you can rent a real miner sample Nicehash and miningrigrentals that offers ASIC and GPU mining rentals but the profitability depends on the price of the coin and difficulty.
2019  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: This store is safe? on: December 21, 2022, 11:35:00 PM
Be careful I tried to check their few pages it seems that their website is not finished yet there are some pages that do not have content and after checking the source code of the website they are using CMS WordPress.

And most of the product they sell looks like used units that do not exist. They are also selling Innosilicon units which don't have any support anymore.
So there is a high chance that this website is scam.

If you are looking for cheap units why not buy directly from Canaan they have pretty cheap units with the same hash rate.
2020  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Where's the 25.5J/T promised in the new Bitmain firmware for S19 Pro? on: December 21, 2022, 11:13:50 PM
It seems it's just a bluff I also heard on Reddit that after upgrading their units there is nothing changes in the hash rate and efficiency.

Do you mind to try reset the unit to factory settings? You can reset it by holding the IP report button for 5 seconds until it bleeps then release then set up the unit again and check for changes.
