You do realize the only reason BitcoinEXpress and ArtForz are attacking other chains is to cause panic and lower the BTC price on the market. They both have substantial BTC saved up and every time they can get the price lower, they make bank on the upswing when the dust settles. They can say it is to strengthen the Bitcoin network, but I know otherwise. If that was their true goal then test networks would be involved instead of live chains.

I hope people realise you work for the bankers...since you admitted it yourself. The only people who want to wreck *coins by the way.

People need to think long and hard about this guys motivation and who his paymasters are.

Where did he admit this?
2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 20130 ixcoin please send some miners there. on: September 13, 2011, 08:00:50 AM
I put my miners on ixcoin tonight.  I pay $.18 per kilowatt hour so I am taking a loss.  Join me on coinotron, I will turn off in morning unless over 1 gh/s at coinotron.

http://allchains.info/

This site says change at 20160. Entire network hash 3.3 gh/s.

At that rate you should reach 20160 in like two months?
2064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Double Spend attack on Namecoins!!! Start mining now to save Namecoin!!! on: September 13, 2011, 06:35:00 AM
This is great news:

It's ready!

I pay just under 20% more than what deepbit will pay help save Namecoins!

Just click PPS check box beside your worker and BOOM you are getting paid btc I keep the NMC however you can get proportional namecoins if you like.

Your shares are updated once a NMC block is found so the more blocks we find the faster you BTC end up in your wallet.

Merged mining, here I come Smiley

Where does it say that his pool is using merged mining currently?
2065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 20130 ixcoin please send some miners there. on: September 13, 2011, 06:30:45 AM
You should ask BitcionEXpress. I'm sure he will help out where he can.

lol, what happened trying to follow the saga.  Are they going to take them all down SC, IX, IO, and NC?

So far all I know is that namecoin and solidcoin are on the list. IX an I0 they could care less about I think.

2067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is more arrogant? BitcoinEXpress or CoinHunter? on: September 13, 2011, 06:15:45 AM
BitcoinEXpress' actions are like using actual humans in a crash test of a particular model vehicle as opposed to using crash dummies.

"In the name of science I will destroy that which has value and has a solution on the way (merged mining) in order for the results to benefit bitcoin."
2068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin attack threat - Please withdraw your Namecoins ASAP on: September 13, 2011, 05:46:02 AM
Cheers BitXpress.

I think this is great. Though I kinda feel bad for the NMC miners, I think a live test like this is needed sometime down the road - why not now?

If GE or Apple or someone (or the Fed, whoever) drop a couple of million on hardware to try this on Bitcoin before it gets fixed, there is a bigger issue than an alt chain being experimented on.

Point taken. But the messed up thing is that merged mining which would help secure the namecoin network is supposed to take place in about 250 blocks and he is doing this attack in the name of bitcoin/science as a way to test the network to prevent attacks like this. But he doesn't realize that merged mining would remove this flaw. But of course he being a douche thinks he is doing all of us a favor.
2069  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 13, 2011, 05:40:22 AM
Bad people like BitcoinEXpress exist in our society most them work for governments but the rest that where too evil even for government exists in the public.  This attack will show the world the power of bitcoin if namecoin survives it.

I'm feel like selling 40K of gold to kick this ass hole to the curb.   But I must be clever and out smart instead of out spend.

So sad people are destructive not productive even sadder is some destroy for sport.

Ah well Like I said it's part of life we (good people) need to deal with it.

You're going to need more than 40K of gold to stop this. The commitments from people wanting to start a "Hit Pool" now exceed 200GH/s. We have some very sharp people working on this and it will occur before merged mining. We needed a Guinea Pig and in this case it sucks for Namecoin to be the Guinea Pig. But hey, your leaders volunteered you guys by leaving the door open so long even after they were informed several times.

All of the exchanges have been notified, so no one should lose any money.

One of our "super coders" has actually (in theory) found a way to go back in the chain and start from there, thus invalidating everything in front of that block. We will test that also.

In the name of science...

If you are successful in resetting the blockchain to ~10,000, then my namecoins will seize to exist. What is your plan to reverse this fact once you're done with your testing? I paid real money for the namecoins that I bought. If you don't reverse the consequences of your test once you're done, you will in fact have taken real money from me because the namecoins I had in my wallet will have seized to exist, and the new ones that will have been created instead, will be in your wallet.

My namecoins are in this block: http://explorer.dot-bit.org/a/NEuKQ4uJPRrE7Bf5TmYAByhHieeFqLzYrd

Will you be transferring the same amount of namecoins to that address once your test is over?

He believes your loss is in the name of "science".
2070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin attack threat - Please withdraw your Namecoins ASAP on: September 13, 2011, 05:38:53 AM
@Mr Wizard

I think the creator of GeistGeld can readily verify that I have 68 GH/s of my own.

nice to hear that, lots of hashes Smiley
thanks for making this security test for all of us, would be nice to have some results after you finish though

Glad you like it, he also claims he can do it with as little as 25% of the power.... would seem to me doing it to Bitcoin itself in not that far outside his reach with all the support you all have for these "testers", will that be the next great test, he does need to know the limits after all.  Am I right people?  Ya BTCExpress, just go straight for Bitcoin, that after all is the MOST realistic test, a lot of people here would love to see your data.
This attack is only really possible at over 90% power (which he seems to have), unless he actually found a exploit in the code itself. Personally, I think that he just thinks he found a "design flaw", but we'll see. He'll be able to do this attack with this much power, anyway.

it is a design flaw Maged  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43692.msg521772#msg521772
You are right about the difficulty issue - that is indeed a serious flaw. But it still doesn't bypass the need for a higher sum-of-difficulty. It'll still be hard to rewrite from block 10000, which is, in my opinion, more of an issue.

Yesterday I dropped the difficulty of Geist Geld to 0.6 and held it there for 73 minutes while I mined 20,000 blocks without a single orphan. The same flaw exist in NMC and I absoultely will never attack Bitcoin. I have too many put away for that.

Yes we can all count on this never happening given his inconsistent motives and restatements and backpedaling on motives and changing objectives.
2071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is more arrogant? BitcoinEXpress or CoinHunter? on: September 13, 2011, 05:36:06 AM
Keep in mind if he has 1 terre hash commited, then thats 1 terre hash less that will be mining bitcoins, so enjoy the lower difficulty for regular bitcoins!
Nope, once he hits block 19,200 he can merge mine. This allows him to earn bitcoins and attack namecoin at the same time.

We don't need nearly that much firepower and in reality, it is pledged. Now the even worse news. NMC has a lame network speed of less than 35 GH/s and the 51% mark is only is 17.51 GH/s.

Most of the pledged pool will be from exactly that, from a pool operator with an axe to grind with Vinced, that has pledged to help.

Even if the pool operator doesn't come through, by myself I could take NMC on and know for a fact I have another 50-60 GH/s of reliable partners. As ArtForz will tell you, this attack is doable at 25%, slow but doable. 51% gives us total control.

Again I am sure ArtForz will verify if I wanted to be a dick, even by myself with 68 GH/s I could have done this silently in real time.

Finally, we are going to run it way past 19200...

~BCX~

Wow the plot thickens. So this is also a plot against vinced as well? This is starting to sound like a kindergarten "my daddy will kick your daddy's ass" fight.
2072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is more arrogant? BitcoinEXpress or CoinHunter? on: September 13, 2011, 05:21:36 AM
CosbyCoin makes some valid points against BitCoinExpress' motivations, and the more I think about it, it seems that BitCoinExpress is using his personal 68 GHash/S and pledged ~1 THash/S to masturbate with Namecoin in some weird Bond-Villain sex fantasy.

2076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ALERT] BitcoinEXpress says Solidcoin is next on: September 13, 2011, 04:32:40 AM
Found this on the namecoin forum. It would appear that BitcoinEXpress blames all of his actions on Smoothie exposing him exploiting the code on the GG network. He also says solidcoin is next on the list.

Quote
Smoothie my friend,

Well quite honestly I liked the ArtForz exploit so much after blasting Geist Geld to the tune of 20,000 blocks in 73 minutes that I decided to accept an offer from a Bitcoin Super Coder and Moderator to use my well known mining fire power to test the ArtForz Exploit. The ArtForz Exploit has evolved quantum fold since it was posted. We've been testing on GG for the past 24 hours, the creator Lolcust is aware to some degree.

51% is irrelevant now, more hashing power only increases the speed at which it can be done. As little as 25% can still be effective. With more than 51% we can re-write the chain in real time. At more than 51% we can also stop the chain, pick a point, fork and confirm transactions very rapidly.

Actually Smoothie you are the one that publicly outted me on the 20K blocks, making the chain useless for me in any exchange setting. So blame yourself for me accepting a certain moderator's offer.

We are giving Namecoin ample time to mount a defense, part of the test is to see if you can mount a defense but rest assured, Checkpoints will do you no good or Merged Mining for that matter. Merged mining has a flaw so blatant I cannot believe it is actually being launched. ArtForz has been warning you guys about this for months.

Some are saying I am full shit, I wouldn't bet on it. We have demonstrated this to the right people. There's a reason Bitparking and Ruxum are clearing there exchanges of BTC as we speak.

They aren't stupid people. I do believe even Gavin is taking this seriously as he is well aware of the exploit and knows that with as little as 2-3 Tera-hashes Bitcoin could be a target. We will not steal a single BTC and since Namecoin more than likely will not survive this, we won't be taking any NMC either.

If it is any consolation, yes Solidcoin is next.

So because you didn't get to make your profits off of geist geld you are going to attempt to do it through namecoin? Don't blame me that you couldn't keep your mouth shut when asked if you raped the geist geld network. You are the reason you couldn't profit it from it. Because of your asinine greed you disallowed profit from coming from it.

NOTE: Funny how you ask DoubleC to create an exchange for GG but then you go and make plans to kill some of the revenue that is made through his namecoin exchange by attacking namecoin. Hilarious.

Dude I made money off of the other alt-chains but I never, and I repeat, NEVER advocated destroying any of the networks in such a manner.

You say that this is going to benefit bitcoin and that it is to gather information for research purposes but as someone on the alt-forum said you are contradicting your motives here because a test and an attack are two different things. You openly admit to attacking the namecoin network to see how much of a defense the namecoin network can amass, which is not research.

Research is done on test subjects not real live networks in which people are a part of.

Given your track record you are in it for the profit and will only be in it for the profit. I am not your friend given that you are showing everyone in the cryptocurrency community(s) that you are purely in it for the control/power/profit/destruction.

As the poll asks, IMHO, you are a bigger douche than coinhunter.

At least coinhunter was consistent. You on the other-hand flip flop with your "motives".

Profit is one thing, destruction is a totally different animal. Thats the same difference between profiting from being smart with consumers/customers and A-bombing your competition just to wipe them off of the planet because it is good for business for you.

As you admit many times, you don't believe in any of the chains including bitcoin, thus defies your claim that this is for the benefit of bitcoin.

You are full of BS!
2077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin attack threat - Please withdraw your Namecoins ASAP on: September 13, 2011, 04:01:28 AM
Let me put it this way: You're saying that you have more hashing power than every pool other than Deepbit, btcguild, and Slush. Additionally, that's without having even advertised your rouge pool on this forum.

Please tell me how you actually expect us to believe that.
He says he works at Apple, and if that's the case, especially if he works in a HW lab, he has access to a TON of equipment.  Can you corroborate his IP with that of Apple Inc?  It would be a shame if he were wasting valuable corporate resources and/or time on either coordinating an attack or browsing these forums on company time.

Anybody down for a social attack on BitcoinEXpress, just for the lulz?  I mean, it'd be for his own good anyway so he can better protect himself in the future. Cheesy

I'm down. What city did he say he worked in? I know it was one outside the United States.
2078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin attack threat - Please withdraw your Namecoins ASAP on: September 13, 2011, 03:26:00 AM
I have backed up the Namecoin block chain and have shut down my namecoind.

If this attack succeeds, I assume that it can be reversed by patching namecoind to reject this new chain.

This attack would be a non-issue if we were already doing merged mining.

can this or similar countermeasure be automatically deployed in case of attack ?

Because of the nature of the attack I think this has to be a manual effort. I could be wrong.

Good point. If we all choose to not use his forked namecoin chain then he can go play with himself and his pointless namecoins and register himself domains forever and ever so he can visit them by himself.
2080  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 13, 2011, 02:50:13 AM
I love this experiment, also people need to stop complaining namecoins are experimental which implies they are temporary and so you have no expectation of value from them. They can disappear any day.

You can't simulate amazing results, you must test them in a production environment. Any computer scientist would agree.

Bitcoins are also experimental even in the words of Gavin Andresen. So would you advocate an attack on the bitcoin network too if someone had enough hashing power to kill the network? Something tells me you would be against it.

I would say the same thing, bitcoin software is experimental/untested and implies no warranty.

Hmm then I would advocate that you as well as BitcoinEXpress make plans to attack the Bitcoin network.

Start amassing TH/s of processing power so Bitcoin can be sure to be a safe network to be vested in.

...

Right, it's too much work to accumulate that much power for BitcoinEXpress or you.

Merged mining was just around the corner and this BS claim that bitcoin supporters and developers are taking too long and are leaving their network open to an outsider attack.
