2281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin prepaid/debit cards on: January 31, 2021, 01:58:32 PM
Anonymous debit cards, that can be loaded with cryptocurrency are a thing of the past. I remember a lot of options being available in 2014 and 2015, but things started to get tight from 2016 onwards. The FinCen cracked down on providers of such cards and made KYC mandatory for physical (plastic) cards. You may still find such cards in sites such as Bitify, where they use stolen/hacked KYC information. But going for that option is extremely risky. And I haven't heard about Ezzocard before. So be very careful before using them.

The ICC is not going to spend money on preparing the wickets and all the responsibility goes to the team hosting the tournament including the preparation of pitches. Not sure there will be a stage when toss will be automatically given to the visiting team as toss is a major part in cricket according to the pitch condition and you cannot mess around that.

Well... that was just a proposal made by some of the ICC officials a few years back. It triggered serious debate, but in the end there was very little progress. And if I remember correctly, the immediate reason was that some of the Asian countries prepared tracks that suited their style of play, when either Australia or England was visiting (don't exactly remember which team raised the complaint).
2283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 31, 2021, 01:31:21 PM
My understanding is that they need at least 2.5 or 3 months for Ranji season and IPL coming in April, fair amount of domestic players wont be available for IPL in this case and second reason is majority of states were favoring the ODI tournament due to Bio-secure bubble as its not easy to put 38 teams to put into bubble for 3 months.

They could have gone for a shortened tournament, which would last 1-1.5 months. Ranji Trophy is the most important domestic tournament, and I believe that the decision to cancel it once again shows the low importance that the BCCI gives for longer format of the game. For T20, we already have IPL. But there is no such equivalent for 4/5 day cricket.
2284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is INDIA going to BAN Bitcoin Again? on: January 31, 2021, 01:21:13 PM
As always this is a fud and india will not ban crypto. You can find the complete details on this by crypto india youtuber who have explain this very well in his last live stream.

🚨 MUST WATCH : CRYPTO BAN IN INDIA ?? || COMPLETE ANALYSIS ||

Dude, this time it is different. The bill is already in queue, to be tabled during the budget session (February-March 2021). Last time, it was just rumors and there was no confirmation from the government. You can check my posts back then, and I had clarified that it was just FUD on unverified rumors. But this time the situation looks serious for me. But as the YouTuber has pointed out, the details are not yet clear. He claims that the word "ban" has been removed, but I am a bit skeptical on this. Hopefully we will get a clarification tomorrow, during the budget speech.

Washington is in the Test Squad, you don't want any sort of injury before the England series (Ashwin is in test squad also). Natarajan deserve some rest, he's has been in bubble since August last year.

I think Tamil Nadu dropped  Murli Vijay for good and Vijay Shankar is already there in the squad.

LOL.. Natarajan is not taking any rest. The last time I heard, he was busy visiting all the temples in Tamil Nadu and doing strange rituals. He just posted this:

https://twitter.com/Natarajan_91/status/1355760220375420930

I am from Singapore and around 6%-7% of the population is made up of Tamils. But never noticed anyone shaving their head. So what is the reason? Is it mandatory to shave your head after something big happens in your life?

BTW, good to hear that Vijay Shankar is in the TN squad. India is facing a shortage of pace-bowling all rounders and if this guy performs well, then he may be considered by the selectors.
2286  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading Bitcoin in Africa Is a Way for Some to Escape Poverty on: January 31, 2021, 01:01:09 PM
Cryptocurrency provided a lot of opportunities not just for those who are rich but also for others who are classified as low-income earners. Even with the associated risk, Bitcoin can provide opportunities to earn by investing, trading, and not to mention opportunities for those who are knowledgeable of blockchain technology. But we must remember that crypto is not created to aid poverty.

The main purpose when Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 was to end the exploitation by the bankers. Now we all know that it is the poor who suffer the most from this exploitation. So we can say that Bitcoin is one of the tools which can make life better for poor people. And in the end, cryptocurrency may prove to be a powerful tool to alleviate poverty. And apart from cryptocurrency, the Blockchain can also play a big role in eradicating the intermediaries and keeping the wealth in the hands of those who deserve it. Blockchain is the future of technology, and within the next 1-2 decades, most of the applications in almost all the sectors will be Blockchain-based.
2287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $50k by the end of 2021? on: January 31, 2021, 12:51:15 PM
Institutional investors who accumulated Bitcoins at 30K-40K level are not idiots. They know that in the long-term the exchange rates will hit six digits for sure. Only the individual investors will run out of their patience and sell their coins at five-digit prices. I am someone who has been holding coins for 9 years. And I plan to do that at least for the next 3-4 years, no matter what the prices are.
2288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 31, 2021, 12:41:32 PM
Around 1 hour to go for the SMA Trophy final. Apart from Dinesh Karthik, I can't find any big names participating in this match, which is quite disappointing. At least I expected emerging players such as T Natarajan, Washington Sundar.etc to take part. Tamil Nadu players such as R Ashwin, Murali Vijay, Vijay Shankar.etc used to take part regularly in the domestic tournaments, and I am not sure why they skipped this one.
2289  Economy / Economics / Re: Will President Joe Biden be good for business? on: January 31, 2021, 12:31:19 PM
I believe higher taxes are not really required to achieve what Biden wants to achieve, that is not really a problem that he is trying to solve, higher taxes could happen but that is just show of how he failed to find another way, the reality is that enough taxes are taken from public for decades already to cover for most things, there is really no need. You want universal health care that makes everything free? All hospitals, medicine, pills, injections everything free?

Well, there is enough money paid to insurance companies and taxes and pentagon alone that we could cover it twice around with the money that is collected anyway, you want free schools? That is going to be incredibly cheap compared to all the other things we pay for, get few less airport like ships, basically Bidens promises are good, the way he does will decide if he did it bad or good way, I want all the things he promises, just not pay incredible amount of taxes for it that's all, pay it with taxes people already pay.

Biden has some radical plans that require trillions of USD in additional spending. And with the federal debt at record high levels, there is only one way to do that - to raise the taxes. He had already promised to raise corporate and income taxes. I am afraid that he will consider some of the crazy ideas that were proposed by radical left wing senators such as Ron Wyden, who want to tax unrealized capital gains.
2290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 31, 2021, 12:21:16 PM
Although every country do this and make pitches which help them but isn't against the sports man spirit ?
If a team is good, they should win on any pitch and should not take these short cuts which make results in their favor.

Well.. they are not doing anything that is against the law. Even teams such as England and Australia make use of the home conditions, when Asian teams are touring. If the ICC is so concerned about that, then it should appoint neutral curators. Previously, there was a proposal to remove the toss and give the visiting team the advantage of selecting to bat or field first. But that proposal was shelved as a result of opposition from the majority of the countries.
2291  Economy / Economics / Re: Florida bank says it has closed Trump's accounts on: January 31, 2021, 12:11:22 PM
Trump isn't going to be the last person these banks deplatform. I imagine we'll have companies that spring up just for conservative with how "tolerant" the left is -- or this just makes the case for decentralized currency even more appeasing.

Fortunately for Trump, a bank would beg to keep his money within their institution.

That poses a risk for cryptocurrency as well. If the banks close down accounts just for political differences, then we can expect a lot of people to move towards cryptocurrency. At this point, do you really think that the leftist government in power will remain as mute spectators? They will start harassing the cryptocurrency users, in order to prevent this switch. Already Janet Yellen has made some very hostile statements related to cryptocurrency and Bitcoin in particular. And in India, they are talking about making ownership of cryptocurrency a criminal offense, that is punishable by up to 10 years in jail.
2292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another insane win!! $ 1B mega million jackpot on: January 31, 2021, 12:01:07 PM
Lucky indeed in gambling, winning that billion is okay but the way the taxers takes almost half of his winnings is not okay, even if his identity not revealed in the process.

Damn taxes.
The 60% taxation looks like a day robbing in my opinion becasue such amount is huge, if during ticketing tax was paid i wonder why should the winners be border to pay tax from his/her winning, though the government always love double taxation.

It's more than 60%. The tickets are already taxed while they are being sold. So in the end the cumulative tax burden is much more than 60%. But for most of the participants, they don't bother. The chance of becoming a millionaire is too attractive for them, and they won't mind paying an additional $2 for the lottery tickets.

But if you use your brain wisely, then there are a few things that you can do. Nowadays, it is possible to purchase lottery tickets online, without traveling to the respective countries. So users in the US can purchase UAE or EU lottery tickets (prizes are not taxed in the EU/UAE). When you have a choice, why go for an option which is 3x costlier? But I understand that US citizens are expected to pay income tax on their global income. So in that case you need to consult a CA to find the loopholes.
2293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 29, 2021, 05:45:05 AM
Keshav Maharaj is night watchman, hardly a batsman and occupying the crease. I would be surprise if he hang out much longer as new ball is just 5 overs away. Temba Bavuma is not impressive overall but if he and De-cock manage to form a partnership then they might have some chance, otherwise its Pakistan game.
-------------------

Edit

And first ball of the day, Maharaj is gone...

Quinton de Kock is gone as well. With 4 wickets remaining, South Africa is having a lead of 50 runs. They need another 100 runs at least, in order to have the slightest chance of winning this match. The remaining batsmen (Rabada/Nortje/Ngidi) are all genuine tailenders. But then again, it is Pakistan on the other side and therefore nothing is guaranteed yet.

There was a time when the South African team had plenty of pace-bowling all rounders (Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis, Lance Klusener.etc).. but those days are long gone. They badly need such players.
2294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 29, 2021, 05:35:35 AM
Saini got away with two intentional beamers during last year's IPL (against Marcus Stoinis of Delhi Capitals and then against Rahul Tewatia of Rajasthan Royals). In any other country, this would have resulted in a life ban. On both the occasions, rather than apologizing, Kohli was encouraging this sort of disgusting behavior.
There is a correction here, bowling beamers will not attract a life ban according to the laws of cricket. In an innings you will get a warning for the first beamer and if you ball another beamer in the same innings you will be banned to bowl in that innings.

MCC tried to change this rule to one beamer and you are out of the innings from bowling but there were many critics against that change and hence they are still continuing with the old rule.

I guess that is for unintentional beamers. Sometimes the ball slips out of bowler's hand and it turns out to be a beamer. But I watched Saini bowling on both occasions, and it was clear that he did that intentionally. And I posted about this many months ago. And even after all this, he refused to apologize. Stoinis escaped without major injury, but Tewatia was hit really hard. It is up to the match referee to decide on the quantum of punishment. But the match referees (Manu Nayyar and Prakash Bhatt) also refused to act.
2295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not be too happy on: January 28, 2021, 07:49:55 AM
Can't agree with this claim. The price of a decentralized asset can't be controlled by a handful of players. There are more than 18 million coins floating around and in order to manipulate the price, these guys need to accumulate at least 30%-40% of the circulating supply. And if they try anything like that, then the prices will end up at six digits (or much beyond that).
It is true that these people and big companies can not control this market alone, but let's look at the past.
When it comes to high profits or big money, such people and big companies work together even if they are on several different continents.
These policies will never change, and Bitcoin is one of them, and there may be many other things in our lives that we are not aware of.

In order to manipulate the prices, these companies first need to create scarcity in the market so that they can push the prices upward. After that they will try to sell their assets at peak prices. Now this is going to be beneficial for the individual investors as well. All that we need to do, is to sell our coins at the right time. This is not applicable to those who want to HODL for 10 or 20 years, but for those who are not averse to profit booking at regular intervals.
2296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Joe Biden's Picks for SEC, Treasury Will Impact Crypto on: January 28, 2021, 07:30:23 AM
I don't expect anything good really. Most likely, the policy towards bitcoin will be more hostile.

It will get more hostile, and there is no doubt about it. Democrats in general, are much more hostile to the idea of cryptocurrency when compared to the Republicans (I am not talking about establishment Republicans though). In the short term, we can expect tighter KYC regulations and a ban on American citizens from indulging in cryptocurrency trading in exchanges where KYC is not mandatory. In the long term, the regulators may force online wallet providers such as Blockchain.com to provide information on their clientele, which may force these firms to make KYC mandatory for their users.
2297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High possibility major governments will BAN Bitcoin in the near future on: January 28, 2021, 07:15:37 AM
The governments would like to ban cryptocurrency, but it is not possible in a practical way. It is just not possible to ban an asset that is decentralized. At the most, they can go after centralized businesses (such as exchanges, gambling sites, P2P platforms) that are linked to cryptocurrency. Users may be able to transact BTC with each other, but they may face issues in converting their coins to fiat currency (or vice versa).
2298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: when is the right time to buy cryptocurrency? on: January 28, 2021, 07:05:07 AM
I prefer buying a coin when it already has a real product and listed in big exchanges. This can make a lower chance to hold a bad coin on the wallet. Also, this can avoid a severe pump of the price after buying the coin. I have some experience buying new coins from small exchanges, I can tell you it is very risky. There are too many new coins that result in a very low volume there. And finally, the price drops significantly because of too low demands.

Defining "real product" is problematic in cryptocurrency sector. I would define a coin or token as a "real product" only if it is having an established real life usage. And such coins are very rare and as per my calculation they number in two digits. Most of the projects have very good ideas. But the problem is with translating these ideas into real products.
2299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shall I HODL DOGE? on: January 28, 2021, 06:55:18 AM
The temporary spike you are observing is because of the recent altcoin rally. Once the dust settles down, the Bitcoin rally will resume and then you will witness a steep plunge in DOGE prices. Anyway, it is surprising that a shitcoin such as DOGE can survive for so long, without any actual usage. Even its inventor has disowned this coin, and despite all that it is thriving and not just surviving.
2300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 28, 2021, 06:11:04 AM
One should never expect good thing from any franchise if there is no accountability from the Captain and management. He's fail every time as captain still his ego is so big that he's not even thinking of stepping down as captain and management doesn't have a spine either.

Gambhir, Ashwin, Sehwag, Smith, DK, Rahane etc we have countless examples but no rules for Kohli.

LOL.. what do you expect from RCB? Even the BCCI doesn't have enough courage to replace Kohli with Rahane as the test captain for the national side. And here you are talking about the possibility of such an action coming from the RCB management? The chances are very remote. In all probability Kohli will be the captain of the RCB squad for the next 5 years and he will handpick the playing XI.
