I'm a cryptopia shareholder, i want to ask when are you going to pay your shareholders?
And why are you giving away 20000 $ when i'm not getting paid for the shares i own https://twitter.com/mapolglase/status/908122459416621057 ?
Cryptopia trade 3500000$ a day
The earnings are 0.4% 14206$ a day
Earnings are 426180$ a month, how much expenses do you have a month?
Were is my money

Companies in New Zealand usually distribute profits annually or bi-annually. Cryptopia until recently have distributed monthly.
There is no legal obligation for them to pay monthly. As said in the shareholders chatroom on discord - they are working on it.
Recent changes with the new constitution and token issue takes time to implement. Give them time to do it properly.

2324  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia hacked !? on: September 14, 2017, 08:41:31 AM

Well obviously something is up, why else would they change default settings to 2fa just around the time multiple people report
login attempts or stolen funds.

If true, it's kinda irresponsible for them to not notify anyone to at least change passwords.

Yes - something is up - but not with Cryptopia. Insecure websites like bitcointalk, bitmain, bithumb have all been hacked and disclosed user data. Add to that the adobe hack and several others where email data, passwords and other information was taken.  You can check here if your email has been disclosed in some of the large known hacks  : https://haveibeenpwned.com/

One of my personal emails features in there 4 times.

WITH THAT INFORMATION if the PASSWORD AND EMAIL of the hacked site is the same as used on Cryptopia then the hacker has access to the account on Cryptopia.

WITH THAT INFORMATION if the PASSWORD AND EMAIL of the hacked site is the same as the users email used for Cryptopia then the hacker has access to the "reset password" feature.

If the hacker simply tries to log into the site then they have access using valid credentials. - so no actual hack occurs on Cryptopia - a email informing of a sucessful logon is sent (if enabled by the user in the user settings) .

If the hacker simply tries to log into the site and the password is different - wrong - an attempted logon email is sent.

If 2FA is enabled the hacker fails -  an attempted logon email is sent.

In other words - if I have your email address then I can try to log onto your account - if the password is wrong then an attempted logon email is sent.

Changing the settings to default use of 2FA is an attempt by Cryptopia to further protect users that have left it disabled.

Other exchanges have had login attempts too but don't notify users that an attempt to login has been made.
2325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Drxne on: September 13, 2017, 12:59:57 AM
don't buy any shit coin like this. pump dump groups are playing those kind of coins.

Pump and dump happens with all crypto. With shitcoins it is just more noticeable.

https://www.worldcoinindex.com/

This pump was quite obvious.

2326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Drxne on: September 13, 2017, 12:12:35 AM

Hi, I'm Paulo, I live in Brazil and I'm starting out without trading the Cryptopia site. Today a catastrophe happened.
A coin called Droxne valued from 1000 satoshi to 140,000, I bought 40000 satoshi but it devalued to 7000, I lost all my investment, can anyone suggest a solution?

Sorry to hear you lost your investment. Crypto currency can be very volatile. If it was easy then everyone would be rich.

What i found that works best for me is to have a long term strategy rather than following the hype of coins. With ICO's and with pumps and dumps there is frantic trading and the price first goes up and then usually goes down.

You can analyse the cycles of a coin and predict when it goes up and when it is likely to go down. But I am not a particularly good trader.
I like capital gain rather than trading profits.

I find it easier and less time consuming to buy coins that I think are long term winners.
The criteria that I use are:
If it is POW coins - how much does it cost to mine v to buy ?
Was there a pre-mine and who benefited and why ? (e.g. if it is used for ongoing development then that is good - if it is dev get rich quick then it is bad)
With POS coins - is the rate of return sustainable. How is it generated ? Transaction fees or new coins generated?
What is the total number of coins in circulation.
What is the usual daily number of coins being traded
What is the maximum amount of coins that will be / are created.
How popular is it ?
Importantly - does it have a particular purpose?
How useful is it ?
Do i understand how it works ?
Its special features - Would I use it ?
Does it have some really good features ?
What is the market CAP - is it realistic ?
Does it have a busy developer community ?
Are funds from its value being used to develop it further ?
Is it ethical and does it have legitimate use ? (For my own peace of mind and to prevent regulatory shutdown)

Spread your investment - do some cloud mining, some home mining, invest in a promising exchange / crypto related startup / ICO , Invest in some established coins like BTC, ETH, LTC and invest in some lesser known coins that show some promise. Don't be too greedy - diversify. Take some risk but make sure to do your homework. Last year after everyone was selling ETH after the DAO hack - I took a risk and stated buying ETH mining contracts and ETH.  I made a larger % from that than trading. It outperformed my expectations.

Some coins are worthwhile holding on when the price crashes and sometimes you are better cutting your losses.

I hadn't heard of Droxne until I saw the trading volume this morning with a large volume being dumped and the price crashing.

2327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptopia.co.nz delists WAVES and her assets. Opinions? on: September 12, 2017, 08:08:45 AM

Is it reasonable for an exchange to take a passive stance towards updates from a platform like Waves?

An exchange has to protect its owners and client against foreseeable losses. A network fork can create risks of loss of funds for an exchange.
Anything that results in the loss of funds can potentially shutter an exchange. Therefore it is up to an exchange to minimize risk.

Cryptopia is risk adverse. They didn't list Ethereum until the fork was well established. (Technically Ethereum is a larger fork from Ethereum Classic)

When an exchange receives funds it is deposited to the exchange wallet but becomes funds held on the exchange by the user. It is often credited after a short number of confirmations. The user can then use the funds for trading. e.g. User1 deposits 10 Waves into wallet.
10 waves is credited to exchange wallet. User1 has 10 Waves in funds on exchange database. User1 trades 10 Waves for 1 Ethereum with user2 and User1 withdraws the Ethereum. User2 has now 10 Waves in exchange Database. The fork results in loss of the 10 Waves = exchange wallet is now 10 Waves short.

When users buy and sell it occurs on the exchange database - not on the coin blockchain. So any losses due to a fork are sustained by the exchange. They may be able to track it back to a user - but is it recoverable ?

Is it necessary to delist the assets as well?

The tokens or assets rely on the proper functioning of the network. The risks of loss due to a fork are the same.

I have spoken with the developers of the site but I have never met them in person. Other than expressing my sadness at losing Waves trading on Cryptopia I haven't discussed the specifics of the removal. This is my personal opinion only.

2328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptopia.co.nz delists WAVES and her assets. Opinions? on: September 12, 2017, 05:09:49 AM
I have to add that i actually like the Waves platform and support and have Waves (and will continue to buy them) but I also fully understand the decision by Cryptopia to delist. You cannot run an exchange without being informed of wallet updates which are part of the terms and conditions of a coin being listed. With a fork the exchange runs the risk of losing crypto for which the customers might attempt to make them liable or loose angry customers while it is not their fault. I know Cryptopia delists coins if the developer is not honest about mistakes thy have made. Trust needs to exist between the developer of a coin and an exchange.

I find this screenshot curious. I haven't been able to replicate that in my gmail with received messages.  Grin    Grin     Grin
The circled part - that should be showing the address of the last email that you are replying to.  The different font colors are interesting too.
The date at the top and the date of the reply are fascinating too.  According to that screenshot - Waves Platform received on the 21st - a message sent by Cryptopia on the 22nd

...and the 0.7.6 fork occurred on the 19th

Could it be a repeat modified version of the BGP attacks that took place in 2014 ? http://www.zdnet.com/article/hacker-hijacks-isps-steals-83000-from-bitcoin-mining-pools/
2332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptopia hacked on: September 07, 2017, 12:36:33 PM
User accounts have been accessed because other websites have been hacked and the users that have had their accounts hacked are likely to have used the same passwords on the sites that got hacked and did not have 2FA enabled.

It is recommended that you have a unique email address with 2FA enabled just for only one exchange and not for general use. It is also recommended that you use a unique strong password that is not used anywhere else and that 2FA is enabled on your account.

You can check if your email address has been compromised by hacks on other websites. https://haveibeenpwned.com/

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/4-lines-defence-51-attack/

I think the key is to get more people mining. The main problem is the low hashrates and low difficulty which makes it prone to attack. We don't know what their motive is. It could be that they are just hoarding a lot of coin for minimal effort hoping that the coin increases in value. I noticed that there is regularly an different node on the network /Satoshi:0.8.6.2/ running different protocol 80007 from IP 85.236.188.28 . It may be to calculate what hashrate to use or gather other network information. I'm not sure what exactly it does but it appears to come and go.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ww/#

WW blockchain is being hijacked by a miner using a high hashrate to push up the difficulty and only mining the easy blocks. The blockchain has almost stalled as a result. 20 confirmations can take a week to achieve. I've got WW coin that was sent 5 days ago and is still not in my wallet.
2335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WayaWolfCoin (WW) on: May 07, 2017, 06:19:57 AM
I am pleased to announce there is another block chain explorer for WW: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ww/

That block explorer is nice. The only issue is that they have the BTC value linked to LTC value providing the wrong current market value in Satoshis.

I've had some problems with R1's the first one I got I had to reset a few times before I got it working and the second one I got (batch 2) was a dud that worked intermittently for a week and died.

I also had it where they wouldn't connect for weeks.

Why don't you buy one directly from bitmain.com ? https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160307072415240XwaQIqfF06D3

3. I think no multi algo support
4. Lack of profit switching mining.
5. I don't know mineshaft supports dual mining or triple mining.

[I may be wrong with points 3,4 and 5 in cons]

Re:3 It supports Scrypt, SHA256, x11, Quark, Qubit, Groestl, Skein and Blake256 algos

So it has multi algo support

Re 4: It has a auto profit switching feature.

Re 5: I think you might be right about your 5th point. I don't know - maybe one of the Devs can answer that.
2340  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: November 17, 2016, 03:23:40 AM
I think it will upset some mining pools. I don't know of any many where you can pool mine for free with no fee.  Grin
