1322  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system causes more SPAM not less on: September 17, 2018, 11:57:30 AM
I think there are just not enough people giving merit away. The merit system has matured and users are a lot more "stingy" than before. I think it's important to reward the small number of good users on the forum, so as to dilute the spammers and hopefully combat them. Meanwhile, a lot of the high ranking members now would not rank up so easily if they were in a position to start over. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about the quality of their posts, I'm talking about the amount given out. I do realise keeping track of all the posts and quality users is hard work and I thank the active merit contributors.

A nice analysis was given here by user DdmrDdmr: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5029372.0

Below is a graph from his thread showing merit awarded:

<snip>

Having said that, I do believe ranks shouldn't be easily obtained and that the merit system is a great idea, just that the implementation is not fully there yet. In the long run, I'll think we'll regard it as a positive addition to the board.

People who give merit away look for what users are posting.

Interesting how the PRESALE - BUBBLED.IO  and  ALGEBRAIX  threads also suddenly went silent after I asked them for a comment.

Is BUBBLED able to give a statement about one of their advisors who is involved in an ICO PornX which is subject of a Scam accusation ?

Looks like the team has disappeared and is not answering their investors. Marcello Milteer also doesn't appear to be answering questions either.

PornX Team members "verified" by ICO sites have now been proven to be fake.

Twitter profiles and domain have all been suspended.

1324  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S President Trump claims Google ‘rigged’ search results, ‘illegal’ censorship. on: September 17, 2018, 02:51:31 AM
First of all Google uses algorithms that can't be rigged...they can be swayed by popular searches but it's not rigged internally. Secondly, Google is a private company so they can do whatever they want. If they were publicly-owned then they have a responsibility to be impartial but as a private company then can do/say whatever they want.

"Do not track" request is enabled in my chrome browser.

I have Kaspersky anti-virus link on my website and yesterday to check the links I clicked them. Today when I am on other websites I am getting google adsense/ads for Kaspersky.

People who click on Kaspersky from my website and they may buy later, they can click on google ads when they see them on other websites.

Turning off you tracking cookies does not stop google from logging your searches.

https://www.businessinsider.com/even-if-you-cleared-your-history-google-records-your-search-activity-2018-4/?r=AU&IR=T

It's a common misconception that Google is a private company, so they can do whatever they want. Let's investigate that and see what the facts are. I'll just google the subject....

Anyone see a little problem there?

There is quite a bit on google about it.

You could use duckduckgo which is privacy oriented. There are also plenty of other search engines.

Or use a google account with your "nickname", no friends and no personal email.

I have a facebook, twitter, linkedin and google+ with no friends and maximum privacy settings. All of them are parasitic applications that track, sell your private data and block you from viewing content if you don't have them.

I also use a different computer for online activity than the one I use for work  / exchanges & wallets and contemplating getting another for even more hardened security.

Privacy often is also not taken into account by Government departments and authorities. For instance when making a submission on a law change or certain complaints your name is publicly available. Then there are the databases that we don't have access to.  Or private information about us stored by foreign governments.

1326  Economy / Reputation / Re: marlboroza - about the red trust - Nel.network fake team on: September 17, 2018, 01:19:00 AM

Do bounty managers have no responsibilities? I have seen multiple people receive negative trust for participating in a scam bounty campaign, wouldn't the bounty manager be subject to the same treatment? Or is he allowed to "back out" when he learns they are a scam?

I have a couple of questions too.

If I help someone scam other people and get paid from the proceeds - can I legally keep the money ?

If I promote a scheme that turns out to be a fraud - should I be free to promote similar schemes without consequence ?

If I participate in promoting a scam but it gets stopped before anyone is scammed - am I trustworthy ?

If someone is part of a group when a crime is committed they can be tried as an accomplice - even if they didn't commit the crime.
People have been convicted of homicide for selling the gun to the gunman or driving them to the scene of the crime.

Fake team = investor fraud.

Investment decisions are made on the information provided. If you promote a fake team with the intent to obtain a pecuniary advantage then you have committed fraud.

Tagging isn't even about that person necessarily - it is a warning to others to be careful with dealing with them. A neutral simply does not give that warning.

It is also a message to others to be careful and not do the same.

Ignorantia juris non excusat (ignorance of law excuses no one)

1327  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system causes more SPAM not less on: September 17, 2018, 12:43:18 AM
So here is my theory.

<snip>

What do you guys think?

Now if this theory was accompanied by actual data to back it up then it could have some credibility.

This is what you are competing against: Bitcointalk – Posts per Day - evolution during past six months

The comments from moderators indicates that it is reducing the spam.

It has caused a lot of posts from users that don't have merit complaining about the merit system with all sorts of reasons why it should be abandoned.

New features take a long time to be introduced on the forum. Unless the merit system causes the wheels to fall off - you can be assured that it is here to stay.

I've personally seen a reduction in spam posts on the patrol page. Not just due to the merit system but due to the good efforts of some of the spambusters and moderators on here.

Merit is not an instant fix. It is a long-term solution that along with nuking new spam accounts, banning repeat spammers, banning ranked accounts that spam and identifying account farming operations will eventually make it not worthwhile to spam.

Incentives to improve post quality also ensures that there is worthwhile reading material on here to keep attracting the good members to return to the forum so there isn't a brain drain that leaves the forum to the bounty zombies.

1328  Economy / Reputation / Re: marlboroza - about the red trust - Nel.network fake team on: September 16, 2018, 10:15:16 AM

You see, when it comes to trial, disclaimer really means nothing.

I would go one step further to say - in some cases a disclaimer is a legal hindrance for those that rely on them. If the disclaimer is seen as breaching consumer law, securities law or any other law that specifically prohibits or restricts the use of certain disclaimers it could be illegal to have a particular disclaimer because it misleads the consumer of their legal rights under the particular law / statute.

In some cases a disclaimer could be used as proof of legal non-compliance.

Under UK law -the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 - particular disclaimers could be deemed illegal

Most commonwealth countries have laws restricting the use of disclaimers.

Considering that a lot of ICOs now exclude USA residents from participating it is likely that prosecution would occur in the EU or a commonwealth country.

1330  Other / Meta / Re: Create new account to make revenge. on: September 16, 2018, 05:13:49 AM
Yeah, don't worry about it in the least.  I looked at the reference thread and don't speak that language, but it doesn't appear to be any sort of scam happening.  As mentioned, his trust doesn't show up as red so it's pretty much guaranteed not to affect your standing here.  Most of the people replying to this thread (including myself) have TONS of untrusted negatives on their feedback page.  When you call people out for their BS, that's what happens.  People get mad and retaliate.

Think of it as a badge of honor of sorts, because it's not likely the guy is going to remove it unless you work out a deal with him.

Re: badge of honor

Some of yours are impressive. I'm envious.

1332  Other / Meta / Re: A special Archive for truly memorable/historical threads on: September 15, 2018, 12:41:48 PM
Can I suggest that the mods locked Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney)

Noticed that the last couple of post was just pure spammed (newbies->jr member) and I even saw merit being given away. Out of respect to the Legend himself, locked it but the thread should be sticked though so that newbies will have a idea who Hal is and contributions he did for Bitcoin.

Going from this quote above from a thread requesting the Hal thread be locked and stickied I think it would be a good idea to have some sort of special archive for old threads that have become memorable/iconic but don't really need to be posted in any more and allowing people to do so just usually takes them off topic or at the very least fills them up with spam. Threads like Laszlo's pizza thread and GameKyuubi's  I AM HODLING would be worthy examples of threads to go there. Those threads get locked eventually but there are plenty of other old school threads that just get bumped from time to time and are then inevitably filled with crap from sig spammers. The community could vote on which ones are worthy or not. I know we already have an Archive, but that's just used essentially as a visible trashcan and I think certain threads deserve to be in some sort of 'Hall of Fame'.

There are a substantial number of historic threads on here:

Satoshi welcomes users to this forum
First bitcoin exchange announced by bitcointalk user dwdollar
Proposal to adopt the Thai baht currency symbol, ฿,
First pseudo-anonymous poker game held with bitcoin. (Over 1000 BTC in prizes)

Isn't that already on this thread? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4322078.0
It just need to be locked and make thread that i mentioned is stick on this forum or create another section only for historical or maybe museum of bitcointalk.

It would be great if this thread would be stickied. The whole intent of it's creation is to draw attention to the brilliant historic threads on this forum.

The most iconic bitcointalk threads. History on Bitcointalk.

I agree some of the historic threads should probably get locked. To avoid Fan-dalism.

Minimum for storage vaults is $10,000

Seems fairly high risk going through a 3rd party to buy vaulted gold that you can just do yourself directly with bullionvault or goldmoney.

What are the advantages in using your service?  Gold price is likely to be virtually identical so unless storage or trading costs are significantly cheaper it seems unnecessary.

Are you trying to claim a referral bonus without making it clear?

What are the advantages in using your service? Are you trying to claim a referral bonus without making it clear?

Secured storage outside the banking system in full name. Benefit from low cost of vault storage. I work for the bullion dealers. So you will be buying gold and silver directly from top bullion dealers. Email me: machsid77 @gmail.com

Yes they are  trying to claim a referral bonus.

Links on their website that is advertised in their signature are all referral links. http://archive.is/jcUkm

Being an affiliate is not really "working for bullion dealers". It is just directing advertising traffic to them.
1336  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Merit abuse. 50+12 merits received within 1 day and 1 minute. on: September 15, 2018, 06:42:33 AM
I was just joking. Sorry.
I wouldn't apologize for making a joke, especially on the internet and especially not the one you made.  Not to derail this thread with identity politics, but women are not such delicate flowers that they can't withstand some guy making a joke about ugly girls on a male-dominated forum--and I think suchmoon has a sufficiently thick skin such that he/she isn't going to be cowering in a closet in the fetal position over it.

We're in trouble if bitcointalk gets to the point where we have to start self-censoring our posts to avoid offending people.  Grow a spine, snowflakes.

Dude.... I was supporting you, than we busted the fucking scam called Fire Lotto, but now you are posting some bullshit.
You'd seriously let a joke like that ruin a relationship built on busting scams?  That's much worse than the joke he told, IMO.

If you think that telling a girl that she is ugly is a joke, than walk into any public place, bar, restaurant, cafe, e.t.c. and tell any girl that she  is an ugly granny (especially than she is sitting with a guy) and watch what will happen.

It would depend completely on the location of the bar or public place and type of female that was approached.

In some countries where men are chivalrous it might start a fight.  In some places you might get a friendly tap on the shoulder from security and asked to leave.

In some countries where women are emancipated you will probably get laughed at, ridiculed and ignored.

Such comment is likely to be met by a look of surprise and:" Were you talking to me ? Or your reflection in the door ?"

Suchmoon I have the feeling that you are a ugly old granny, (Sorry) someone told me that... "She is so ugly, when she walks into the bank they turn off the cameras" Don't blame Q.S. ))))

Your fantasies are a bit weird but I'm not judging. So what does this have to do with trust ratings?

Which is exactly what happened here.  Cheesy

1337  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: YuTü.Co.in is a PONZI SCAM on: September 15, 2018, 02:48:09 AM

You tried to steal $100K+ via fake escrow. and have been already involved in ponzis according to trust rating

He did not try to steal $100K in Escrow nor was the Escrow fake.

He tried to become an escrow for a large amount while not having a proven track record. Foolish but not dishonest.

Now lets talk about Bruno Kucinskas aka Gleb Gamov Aka YuTü.Co.in aka Phinnaeus Gage. First of all this guy is a criminal.

Oregon Police arrested Bruno Kucinskas, age 52, of Sandwich, IL, for driving while license suspended. Kucinskas was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and for operation of a vehicle that is overweight on registration. Kucinskas was transported to the Ogle County jail. These violations occurred in the 500 block of E. Washington Street. At 9:02 p.m. This is a police statement.

I admit to raping a 14 year old girl in Nashville back in the late 80's I believe it was, albeit I was put on 1 year probation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. (she was my girlfriend's babysitter, and I did purchase a six-pack of beer of which she partook with me being fully aware of what was going on, just like I told the DA and judge). Can't believe that didn't come up, hence now fully retracting all posts pertaining to this unfortunately episode in my life. This is Brunos statement in the court about raping a babysitter.

Neither of those "prove" that he is a criminal

1) A traffic offense does not make someone a criminal.
2) If you follow the links - neither go to a valid site - they are accusations made by someone with a lot of negative trust from people that I trust - indicating that they are probably a scammer. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1012713.0 appears to be the topic where the accusations both start and have no reputable source.

Unless you can prove it from a reputable source it is not reliable nor likely to be true. If untrue it could be considered repeating libel.

Anyone can make a false link or fake quote. Something which is frequently done by scammers to discredit those that expose them. It doesn't make an accusation true.

Even if he said it on Bitcointalk himself it would not necessarily make it true. He often makes outlandish claims to beat trolls and scammers at their own false accusations. Examples of this are:

(edited)

The name is Bruno Kucinskas. And, I'm Leroy Fodor's huckleberry.

And, I masturbate to images of underage goats.

(edited)

BTW, you forgot to include that I fucked dead animals when I was 19-years-old.

I don't know Bruno other than by reputation. Making a scam accusation is serious and should not be done without proof. Rather than indulging is tit for tat exchanges of insults I would like to see some proof that backs up the accusations of the OP.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn

Any address that nobody has a private key of is a burn address.

Some addresses are specifically created because it is unlikely that anyone has a key to them.

You cannot destroy bitcoins "offline". They only exist online.

Bitcoin exists because it is a balance show on the blockchain available to a certain address.
