The bitcoin world
I just can't tell whether this is supposed to be ironic or what, given that this is coming from a noob account.  I wouldn't put it past a noob to just stumble upon a random thread and write such nonsense.  Maybe he thinks from the thread title that this is a contest or something.

It is a poorly constructed Haiku.
1762  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Is it right to kill a violent burglar? on: June 30, 2018, 03:41:08 PM
In most commonwealth countries the laws are similar.

You have a right to protect yourself.
If there has to be a plausible threat of harm to you or another person then you can legally defend yourself.
You can only use proportional and reasonable force.

But self defense is a defense - not a legal right. (There is a subtle difference)
The law states that you cannot assault or kill a person.
You have a valid defense from conviction if you acted in self defense.

Just because they are in your house doesn't mean there is a threat. But if they threaten to hit and have the opportunity to do so (physically close enough) then you can act in self defence.

(You can also arrest them but that is more complex law)

So if a small 12 year old kid broke into my house and tried to take a swing at me and I killed them with a blow from a hammer - it would not be proportional.

If a 2m 150kg thug broke into my house and threatened to hit my 1.6m missus popped him on the nose with a hammer and he dies - it would be proportional.

When weapons are involved it becomes more serious. Someone with a baseball bat can potentially be more dangerous and the level of violence allowed to be used to neutralize the threat is much higher.

If they flee you can't shoot them with a gun, stab them in the back or run them over with your car - because there is no longer a threat to you.

I wouldn't want to kill someone over property. But I would defend myself and others against harm.
1763  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Seriously, why would anyone want $20 Billion Dollars? on: June 30, 2018, 02:49:30 PM
Please help me understand the thoughts of people who actually want (for example) $20 Billion Dollars.

I'd like to accelerate the spread of knowledge.

With $20,000,000,000 I could open a "Flying Spaghetti" Monster temple in every city and  beside every large church, and educate people about brainwashing while feeding them free pasta - the body of my lord.

https://www.venganza.org/

With US$20 billion and your own religion you can also afford to do lots more marketing and get even more money and solve world hunger with free pasta.

One colander at a time.

If you lived in Zimbabwe before their currency went out of existence you would have wanted more than $20 billion. Since a $100 Trillion banknote was worth around US$300 (When issued) Now they are a novelty sold on eBay.

At least with $20 billion dollars you could actually buy a small item. $5 million you could staple together (if you had lower denominations) and use it as a notepad. (Although you may not be able to afford the staple)

Taking your wallet was painful.

But the answer of why someone would want $20 billion also depends on where you rank on the Selfish / Selfless scale.

On one side would be private golf course, helicopters, mansions and power.
On the other side of the scale would be solving the worlds problems and power to make those changes.

So the short answer would be : Power, control and things. Things for your self or things for others. With a preference for US$

The other answer could be - if you were Satoshi - to create a revolutionary crypto currency that will change the world and leave that value stored in bitcoin  wallets untouched so that there is confidence, scarcity of supply and growth (and change the world).

Also I would recommend using the date format I used here. It is consistent with the date format used in the forum. US writes 7/1/2018 UK writes 1/7/2018 so dates  can get confusing in numeric format.

This story is not over.
EPILOGUE.
1. In the Russian section there is a professional copy-paste .
inbizin
.
2. Inbizin teaches to write copy-paste , and buy merit.

-snip-

Morality. inbizin wants to buy merit, the moderator sends him a measure, inbizin Sells? gives the merit for copy-paste  . The moderator is WARNING. In the Russian section, everyone is silent, there is nobody to tell the truth. Conclusion: - merit fell into bad hands.
The Silence of the Lambs.
The end.

I'm not sure if that is the case. I read that post and thought it was sarcasm rather than "teaching".

So difficult to see as I am a non native limited speaker.

Every forum has trouble with people who are wolves in sheep clothing. They are good at pretending they are helping while they are just looking to gain merit so they can start signature spamming. While others appear to be annoying but actually make the forum a better place.

I spoke to Xal0lex and I am of the opinion that they work very hard and try their best to do the right thing for the forum. As a moderator on another site I am aware that moderators cannot please everyone all the time - no matter how good they are.

If someone is playing foolish games I am sure they eventually will get caught and get a ban.

Repeat offenders eventually get caught and offenders that stop offending are no longer a menace to society.
1766  Other / Off-topic / Re: Silk road and Bitcointalk. How it played a role in its rise and fall. on: June 30, 2018, 07:55:00 AM

Apparently making a post about Silkroad and advocating for free speech on the internet makes me a drug dealer according to this now banned former member of bitcointalk.  Grin

Using that logic I think I need to make a post about geniuses and bitcoin billionaires.
1767  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: June 30, 2018, 06:05:24 AM
Where did you get this figure from?
From his ass, where do you think?  And he's a huge shitposter as well, of the worst kind--no English, nothing useful or interesting to say, and driven to post here by signature earnings.  I've got him on ignore.

People may not earn merits for many reasons, but at this point in the game anyone who's not a complete shitposter, a noob, or an inactive account should have earned at least one, and I'd estimate the percentage of shitposters relative to the entire member pool to be well over 10%.
According to the percentage of people receiving merit, the percentage is over 99%.

If this is an accurate representation then more durastic measures need to be implemented, at the very least, those that have not received xx merit by now have their “grandfathered” status revoked. On the other end of the spectrum, the merit system should be abolished and signatures disabled or substantially lowered (maybe only 1-3 lines with no formatting).

For every 1 post deleted you lose your signature for a week. For every 10 posts deleted you lose a merit. (That is worst for grandfathered accounts that only have minimum merit for their rank).

Yeah, I thought so, because a few weeks ago I was browsing through some threads from at least 2011 and stumbled across a person offering to rent out his signature space, and the comments on it made it quite clear that this was not yet a thing.  I don't know how I randomly came across that thread, but it was fascinating.

I'm really surprised other forums haven't caught on to this yet--it'd probably wreck any forum that did it in terms of post quality, but I don't think it's common knowledge that bitcointalk is a signature campaign hub.

Possibly hard to find the first signature threads because they would be under a different subtopic.

There is always an advantage in being the first. It would be hard to compete against this forum because it just wouldn't have the history.

It is probably both made the forum more and less successful.  Less successful in the quality of posts (and more moderation work) but more successful in terms of visibility. More users = larger pool of good post as well but just harder to find.

The primedice campaign would still probably be the longest running campaign.

This week I came across a topic talking about Bitcoin Futures. A lot of the posts (if not all) were something like:
Yes, I am sure Bitcoin will have a great future because the tech is awesome.
I believe in the future of Bitcoin because Bitcoin will go to the moon in 2018 sir.
No one can predict the future of Bitcoin but I am confident it will be well adopted.

I left the house...

If you only have a small fund (capital) to start with in mining then don't continue because you will only loose your money. First, Mining is for big companies because they have the money (capital) unlike us who only have small capital. It will be a waste because if you mine here in our country, bills in meralco will be expensive, from there you will already be caught by the system.

There are lots of false complaint threads about Cryptodevil - do you really want the join the queue of proven scammers that made those complaints ? That threat

How is that a threat ?

It is a statement.
1) There are complaint threads about him.
2) The threads were made by scammers.
Added:
3) If you make an accusation like you were implying here:
If I thought for one moment out of all the other healthcare ICOs you picked on MeFy because of the color of their skins I would make such a kickup with Theymos you would be barred from here, so drop it.
- it is false - and you would be joining the other scammers.

Where is the threat ?

Nope - Cryptodevil is a different person. Different writing styles and living in different countries. But I respect him.

My signature:
The more money investors have sunk into a shitcoin, the more they will defend it. Not only to rationally increase their wealth, but to preserve the illusion.

Is a common phrase and variation of a phrase that is often used when describing HYP, pump and dump coins and dodgy ICO tokens.

Now who is threatening ? People can judge for themselves.

You realize that you are not DT2 so while you will see red trust you leave - nobody else will see it unless they click the untrusted feedback link.
Cryptodevil is DT2 which means that everyone sees it - by default.

Most of the users that left fake negatives on my untrusted feedback have since received a perma ban for breaking forum rules .
So like it warns - "they may be totally inaccurate."

Your untrusted feedback made interesting reading. Buying accounts. Not illegal  - but how ethical is it ?

Gone from posting good Greek and poor English to posting good English and no Greek.

1778  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is Russian President "Putin" talking about world war 3 ?? on: June 29, 2018, 06:56:25 AM
Guys, Putin is not a Russia. Russia is bigger than you can ever imagine.
Good people, like everywhere. But our president...
Like someone said: the fish rots from the head.
If Putin said WW3 it does not mean that our people fee the same way. Peace.

I'm not scared that Putin will start a war. He is smart and his warning shows he doesn't want a war.

Instability in the Middle East, lack of educational opportunity and poverty are the biggest risks.

People who are educated recognize the danger and risk of war.

Help the poor - If you help them have job opportunities, food, clean water, medical care, adequate housing, education for their kids and feel safe then
they have little to be angry or fearful about. Every human should have an adequate level of living and live in a safe environment.

I'm not saying poverty is the cause of war - but inequality often leads to wars.

I don't have a solution for the middle east - but I think less meddling by foreign powers there will help.
