2421  Economy / Lending / Re: 5 bitcoins needed on: August 22, 2011, 04:18:21 AM
Do you have any online reputation? I don't think you'll qualify for a loan from me, but it might help.
2422  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: How to get Loans - IBB on: August 22, 2011, 04:12:59 AM
BTW I love what you are doing for the community and enjoy watching your ability to manage it all.
Quick question how does IBB make money if you offer interest free loans?

I'm sure its been asked and said before, sorry.
Tips. I'm actually suprised how well that's working out. Of course, it isn't offsetting the fraud, unfortunately.

Given that you are the main provider of loans here, and that I'm the main mod who patrols this forum, I think I can sticky this. If additional loan providers appear, I will have to unsticky this post to be fair. PM me (anybody) when you believe that has become the case.
2423  Economy / Goods / Re: Sh1337 is a scammer, beware! on: August 22, 2011, 04:06:21 AM

I hope you are not accusing me of anything fraudulent. I have not scammed any money whatsoever. I am new to bitcoins, and only understand how the sending and use of addresses works. I know that I recieved 10 BTC and I know that I sent the 10 BTC back to the address he gave me.
Sh1337, I apologize that these guys are jumping to conclusions. Here's what I'd like you to do:

First, start your client with the -debug command line option. Then, double-click the transaction you sent to 16tmn2yFX6QMJwacmyCJ1WG2hQT8pp63uq

Post the information here.
2424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction not making it into blockchain on: August 22, 2011, 02:30:49 AM
Found your problem:
CTransaction(hash=06be409b5e, ver=1, vin.size=1, vout.size=2, nLockTime=0)
   CTxIn(COutPoint(144025b313, 0), scriptSig=304402205799711d86aaf48d)
   CTxOut(nValue=1.32000000, scriptPubKey=OP_DUP OP_HASH160 79a9d3280666)
   CTxOut(nValue=1.00000000, scriptPubKey=OP_DUP OP_HASH160 75fa78e76fc1)
   0/unconfirmed, IsMine=true
You will need to remove that transaction before you can send this one. If you have an even older backup of your wallet, that might work. Otherwise, you will have to use this:

2425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how can i get a refund or dispute my btc transactions? on: August 22, 2011, 02:17:24 AM
guys i think op himself was a troll. this board is way too nice imo =p
I don't think so. OP, if you would like to privately send me the information about this, you may.
2426  Economy / Lending / Re: IBB Loan request on: August 22, 2011, 02:12:55 AM
Where are you on OTC? Can you sign something unique (such as the address in your first post) to prove it? I can cover this loan once that is done (unless you would much rather use the IBB), but if someone else wants to step in, go for it.
2427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: August 21, 2011, 06:25:55 AM
Whta protections can I get on here if I'm being harassed by another user or if my reputation has been brought into disrepute because someone posts lies about me?cus I've been hassled recently and accused of things that just aren't true.
Not much, I'm afraid. It is up to the users to resolve disputes, and it's up to the individual readers to determine for themselves who they think is right. If you are clearly in the right, nobody will hold the accusations against you.
2428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ATTN MTGOX] MINOR SELL BUG FOUND on: August 20, 2011, 11:40:33 PM
Most likely the restriction doesn't exist in the API. That said, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU POSTING POTENTIAL EXPLOITS HERE!?!?!
2429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Fever on: August 20, 2011, 11:32:48 PM
You do realise that if bitcoin does tank, your friends can sell their hardware? They won't lose a huge amount of their investment, they could get at least 70% back.
If Bitcoin tanks, the hardware market will be flooded.
2430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To the attn of Immanuel Go on: August 20, 2011, 11:29:06 PM
Isn't it lovely how Bitcoin seems to bring out the nervous and neolithic attitude in people to they point they lose their grip on reality and decide that dragging financial issues into a public thread is somehow warranted?

Immanuel, as someone who has had this happen to me as well by a particularly excitable member of this forum, I'd recommend not taking it too seriously. You're not insane for thinking it's professional and mature to contact someone in private before posting in a forum but then again, we're talking about Bitcoin users here who think Bitcoin will cure cancer and make it rain, too. Anything can happen.

Meh. He was soliciting in public for a project that he didn't follow through. He should have been more forthcoming with the refund, and the OP shouldn't have even had to ask.
It's dangerous to refund without a refund address.
2431  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started! on: August 20, 2011, 11:16:00 PM
Could I also request an exception on the "50 posts before being able to post images" restriction? I'd like to post some art samples, and a quick review of my website should make it clear that my work is not what anyone would consider offensive.
That only applies to signatures, but I think whitelisting removes that restriction already. I'd have to check.

Edit: Looks like it doesn't, and we don't have a way to bypass that restriction without undoing the restriction for everybody else, sorry.
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction not making it into blockchain on: August 20, 2011, 07:27:00 PM
It looks like it's not even being relayed.

Start your client with the -debug switch and double-click the transaction. Let's see what's up...
2433  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unbroadcasted transaction [0.25 BTC Bounty] on: August 20, 2011, 05:21:54 AM
Start you client with the -debug command line option and double click the transactions that aren't getting confirmed. Post the info here.
2434  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Defense against 0/Unconfirmed double-spending on: August 20, 2011, 05:06:21 AM
Assuming that we're disregarding the Finney attack, you also have to keep in mind that this opens up a large DoS hole by allowing an attacker to have the network relay multiple messages per transaction.

2436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: High speed Blockchain Download on: August 19, 2011, 11:20:25 PM
When the Bitcoin client loads up, it only checks that the last 2500 blocks in the chain that it has are valid. Beyond that, you can change anything you want in the previous blocks without effecting what the client thinks the block hash is. Remember, the data on disk is assumed to have already been checked by your client, so there is no reason to check it on every startup. If it did, it would take hours to start your client.

That said, I have to thank you. I just discovered an undocumented command line option: -checkblocks. If you use that, you will be safe if you download an untrusted blockchain and put it in your data directory.

Code:
    for (CBlockIndex* pindex = pindexBest; pindex && pindex->pprev; pindex = pindex->pprev)
    {
        if (pindex->nHeight < nBestHeight-2500 && !mapArgs.count("-checkblocks"))
            break;
        CBlock block;
        if (!block.ReadFromDisk(pindex))
            return error("LoadBlockIndex() : block.ReadFromDisk failed");
        if (!block.CheckBlock())
        {
            printf("LoadBlockIndex() : *** found bad block at %d, hash=%s\n", pindex->nHeight, pindex->GetBlockHash().ToString().c_str());
            pindexFork = pindex->pprev;
        }
    }

2437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have a 20 BTC Bitcoin private key here... on: August 19, 2011, 08:40:54 PM
I'm curious Immanuel, if you don't have the software to work with private keys, then how did you happen to get one with 20 BTC?
It was from a Bitbill. (this was brought up in another thread)
2438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie to this forum, Eager to PM a member! on: August 19, 2011, 08:32:09 PM
let me know what you guys want to PM to who and ill do it for you if you like, they finally accepted my membership here.
Within ten minutes of posting here, they'd be able to send the PM themselves.
2439  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Feature Request] Add ability to append "satoshi codes" to transactions. on: August 19, 2011, 08:11:45 PM
First: bitcoin will never be used for point-of-sale transactions.  It requires a minimum of 30 minutes - 1 hour (depending on the vendor's level of paranoia) to verify transactions and such a payment delay will never work in a point-of-sale setting.  Lots of people propose ideas to try to get around this but they all require vendors to accept unvalidated transactions, which is equivalent to taking someone's word that they will pay
What do you think credit cards are? Unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions are still several times less likely to fail after the customer has left than that. If you are trusting enough to take credit cards, you might as well take unconfirmed valid Bitcoin transactions as well.
2440  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: August 19, 2011, 07:40:24 PM
Hello Moderators

Where are you? Can we be whitelisted.
No. It's quite clear that you are not familiar with this community, and in fact, might be a danger.
