There has been too much discussion about the Arsenal vs Manchester City match this week that many have forgotten that tomorrow Manchester United will compete again, this time the opponent is Brentford. Statistically in H2H Manchester United is ahead with 3 wins and Brenford only managed to win 1x and that too with a landslide score. Looking at the progress of the two teams so far in the standings, of course Manchester United is a little better but they are too bad for a big EPL team. Meanwhile, Brentford, which is a mediocre team, is not surprised that they have had a bad start to the season by sitting in 14th position. I think this will be a battle for 3 points for each team and of course this will be an important match this week for both teams to determine their next position. Will Manchester United succeed in breaking the series of defeats they suffered in the previous match this time, or will Bentford continue to add to the bad record for the Red Devils by beating them at Old Trafford?

On the one hand, it’s hard for me to imagine that United will lose another match. On the other hand, there are several factors in favor of this: Brandford rested and prepared for this game, and United wasted energy in the Champions League. But the most important factor that introduces insurmountable uncertainty for me is that it seems that some players deliberately play poorly/do not try because of a conflict with the coach.

Mourinho got what he needed to get tonight, since he got bad results with his team in the Serie A and had poor performance there, he and his was were under pressure and they needed to get a win and good result to make things better.
Today against Servette they won the game with a 4-0 result and players like Lukaku had good performances there and they didn't even use Dybala in this match.
However, after the game, Mourinho said he was not happy with the performance of the team at all.

I think Mourinho is happy, but he doesn’t want history to repeat itself when Roma first beat Empoli 7-0 and then lost 1-4 in the next game. There is a game with Cagliari ahead and I think that Roma is still under pressure even in this game - Cagliari is in last place in the standings and everyone expects only victory from Roma.

Now, with this defeat, Besiktas' fate is very slim after only collecting one point in Group D standings.

Besiktas has two games ahead with Bude-Glimt, I think they are quite capable of taking 6 points in these games. Then they have a home game with Brugge, it’s difficult to make assumptions here since Brugge is the favorite in the group, but in the first game away, Besiktas drew with them. And the last game will be away with Lugano, I think that this will be the game where the second team that can qualify from the group will be determined. Besiktas has excellent chances, nothing has been lost yet.
2444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: October 06, 2023, 10:07:12 AM
Brighton cares more about playing well in the Premier League than the Europa League, after all, even if Brighton win the Europa League, they will receive less money for it than just for the regular season in the Premier League.
Money is not the motivation for the players and the coaching staff. They want to be on the continental stage and get an opportunity to shine. Besides the money from European competitions does not stop the one they get from the domestic league and with winning the Europa league thay are already guaranteed millions for just qualifying to the champions league.

There is so much at stake meaning that, any club not performing well is not for want of trying.

- Jay -

Theoretically, your reasoning sounds logical, but in fact we all see increased randomness of results in Europa League games, and if we compare the teams that play in the finals of the Champions League and Europa League, we will see that in the Europa League almost anyone can get to the final. The format of the tournaments is the same, which means that this is justified by the attitude of the clubs to the tournament.
But the closer we get to the final, the greater the motivation, because the title is close and indeed a victory in the Europa League gives a direct ticket to the Champions League.

You know, I remember very well the times before VAR, so I cannot agree. Previously, we could see two-meter offsides, the ball jumping out of the goal (and therefore not counted), the most blatant simulations in almost every round. Now we probably do this once every six months and therefore we are very indignant - since we have simply become accustomed to the fact that such mistakes have no place in football. But the human factor is still there (as in the case of Liverpool where VAR worked correctly but the referees made a mistake in communication).

And VAR was implemented to solve these close margin offside calls and not to make it worse

But it seems to me that if we just take the number of errors, it has decreased significantly. In addition, the number of potential violations has decreased - many players do not simulate violations of the rules or refrain from breaking them because they know that VAR can detect this.

I will not mind seeing the semi-automated VAR technology in use in Europe being included in the EPL. It will help eliminate any doubts in really close calls, like the Gernacho goal against Arsenal.
Then the communication between the officials need to be publicly available and not on request. This will go some way to restore trust in the technology.

- Jay -

The English Football Association would not implement any technology over which they have no control or know how to manipulate; we witnessed how long it took for VAR technology to be accepted in the EPL.

The fact that VAR came to football much later than in sports such as tennis and others is truly a shame and evidence of deep corruption. But now the main changes have been made and further improvements are only a matter of time.
2447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 05, 2023, 07:39:59 PM
VAR has failed totally since its implementation, and it will continue to fail as long as the corrupt refs continue to operate and make decisions. When VAR was introduced,.I assumed it would be an independent entity from the Refeeres association.

What happened to the goal line technology used in the Qatar World Cup? Why wasn't it used for league matches? It is more advanced and better than what we currently have.

Last week, Christian Pulisic called for the removal of VAR; technology is getting worse, and these players are no longer pleased.

You know, I remember very well the times before VAR, so I cannot agree. Previously, we could see two-meter offsides, the ball jumping out of the goal (and therefore not counted), the most blatant simulations in almost every round. Beşiktaş, one of our representatives, lost 3-2 to their rival Lugano at home. Beşiktaş played a good game in the first half and managed to close the first half ahead. Beşiktaş started the second half fast and doubled the difference with Aboubakar's second goal. In the 61st minute, Beşiktaş lost control of the match as they were reduced to 10 men after Rosier received a red card. Besiktas conceded 3 goals in the last 10 minutes and lost 3-2 in a match in which they led 2-0.

This result is even more unexpected for me than Braga’s comeback from 0-2 to 2-3 yesterday. Still, Union Berlin can be said to be new to the European Cups and they took off too quickly, so the volatility of the results is expected. Besiktas is a much more experienced club, I understand that the red card completely ruined the game, but three goals in 10 minutes... damn it hurts.

Ajax sells a lot of players every off-season and it is difficult for them to constantly be at the top of the Eurocups. Brighton are also playing poorly in this group stage, but they are not only in decline in the EL, their results have also worsened in the Premier League. Sometimes this happens when a team needs to play in several tournaments, but is not ready for this, mainly due to a small bench. So far, AEK is leading this group and their game looks very decent at the moment.

Brighton cares more about playing well in the Premier League than the Europa League, after all, even if Brighton win the Europa League, they will receive less money for it than just for the regular season in the Premier League. And even though Brighton are now in last place in the group, they are only three points behind the leader and only one point behind second place. Literally one successful round is enough to fly into the qualification zone.

2452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 05, 2023, 05:09:10 PM
Only it seems to me that this fight finally became meaningless after information appeared about the Usyk-Fury fight at the end of December 2023 or January 2024? For some reason, it seems to me that all boxing fans are now worried about Fury not getting some kind of injury during this fight so that we can finally see the most important fight of recent years.

On the part of Tyson Fury? this fight is not going to be meaningless, I mean he can used this one as a tune up fight for his upcoming unification class with Usyk. ~

No, I mean from a boxing fan's point of view. It's one thing to watch a circus fight when there is nothing else, then Ok, why not. But when you know that in 2-3 months there will be a fight that everyone has been waiting for for several years (I think this can be said because unification fights do not happen so often), then there is no special desire to watch a circus fight.
Ngannou doesn’t have many chances, but he does have them. How ironic it would be if he wins or Fury gets injured that ruins the next fight.

Updated list of my bet
  • Inter Milan - Bologna i will bet on Inter Milan
  • Napoli - Fiorentina i will bet on Napoli
  • Lecce - Sassuolo i will bet on Sassuolo

I put 2 surebet, Inter and Napoli. And put one bet, Sassuolo for raise the percentage (for win more money) if Sassuolo of course win.
I think Sassuolo can win easy.

we will see if this way of betting pays off or not, this is the first test I have done with 2 sure bets and 1 bet to increase the profit

If you want to discuss your bets, it would be better if you show a screenshot or write the odds manually. Without odds, it is impossible to understand where there is value and where there is not.
By the way, bookmakers estimate the odds of simultaneous victories for Inter and Napoli as 1.37x1.62=2.22 This is far from a guaranteed bet, no one will give out +122% profit without a corresponding risk  Wink

Last season there were no less interesting defeats like 0-4 against Brighton or 0-7 against Liverpool  Wink But since then (at least from the game with Brighton) the club has spent 400 million on transfers and Ten Hag got those he wanted. Onana looks like the biggest mistake so far. If De Gea had questions about playing with his feet, then for Onana there is a question: by what can you even play with, buddy?
And Ten Hag’s arguments about psychology, spirit and other nonsense irritate me, it gives the impression that he is incompetent.

Manchester United management paid Ten Hag huge funds to add players of Ten Hag's own choice to the squad. But even then Ten Hag completely failed to strengthen the team. Adding Onana to the squad was probably Ten Hag's mistake. But ten Hag was also wrong to make Hojlund the main striker of the squad this season. United needed an experienced striker. Hojlund is talented but not experienced enough. Hojlund still lacks the ability to consistently perform well and score goals. Perhaps United's performance will be more stable if the injured players in the squad return to the squad. But now they are far behind. I don't think it's possible for Manchester United to get back into the top four of the table.

But Rashford looks even worse now so it's hard to judge. United will certainly rise from 10th place, but when we talk about long-term expectations from United, this is not at all the task that is set for the club every year. It sounds funny now but United must fight for the title. Everything else is failure. And this season United will only fight to get into the European League; they are cosmically far from even the top 4 in terms of quality of play.

After Copenhagen beat United at home the logic will be clear  Grin I have a suspicion that besides the fact that United itself is weak, some of the players are already interested in changing the coach, so they  specifically are not trying to get good results. This theory is supported by the fact that the United management recently supported Ten Hag - I always see such statements when there is a conflict between the team and the coach.

Agreed Wink I think the only shame here is that, just like Chelsea, books will start adjusting odds down for their opponents (the same pattern is happening for City after winning the treble, I miss days when 25/1 is normal for City loss). Chelsea way to Fulham was only 2/1 (I took this on accas because of the huge value) ... can you imagine that world?

I think you're right about United players. You don't feel the love nor even respect from that team of spoilt brats. They should be backing their coach but oh well, long may their malaise continue.

Hehe. I also took Chelsea. Take a look:

Fucking City owes me some money I think  Grin I was confident that all the clubs I chose (Seville, Chelsea, Newcastle) would overcome temporary difficulties (or temporarily overcome difficulties hehe) and give great value to my bet. And I turned out to be right, it’s a pity that on this day City decided to lose and destroy such a smart multi-bet.

United were so-so all last season, only the urgent transfer of Casemiro improved the situation a little. This season, Ten Hag got everyone he wanted, for example, he got rid of the legend De Hea in favor of Onana, who is still showing a clown performance. And the results are only getting worse. In general, United play as if they have no coach at all.
Manchester United did signed last season, bringing in crucial players that changed game pattern and made made impacts for the team. Casemiro is a very good example of playees that enchanced the club. Perhapes united didn't make quite an impressive performance last season, inconsistent results in games though they earned themselves a significant position on EPL table by qualifying for top four. However this season, everything is different, they have one of the worst defeats run up in EPL and also UCL. Erik Ten Hag made hugh mistakes when he replaced David de Gea with André Onana who's probably not having the best moments in Old Trafford, conceding more goals against his opponents, the Red Devils are unbalanced in games.

Some interesting games this week, starting with the Derby for Juventus.

This derby is interesting for fans of these clubs, for some reason in my memory this pair is associated with dull games and a score like 1-0. The only game interesting for me is Lazio - Atalanta, both clubs have problems and they both want to get 3 points. In general, the games will take place after the European Cup games, so I don’t expect great results in this round.
I could be wrong, but Napoli 1.63 looks like a value bet, and of course a Roma victory, as I already wrote earlier.
2458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 05, 2023, 02:25:55 PM
Milan's next match will be even more interesting to watch because Milan will face PSG who are currently in second place in the group standings. So Milan must try to win so that they can put themselves in that position by eliminating PSG from that position because these two teams have a real chance of taking second place in the group by winning in the next match. Although there is another possibility for PSG if Newcastle is unable to win the next match.

I don’t think that Milan will play strictly to win - in the end the game will be in Paris and they will most likely have to fend off PSG for which this match will also be decisive. Taking into account the fact that this will be a doubles game (after the game in Paris, the next game will be in Milan), I think Milan will try, first of all, not to lose. The game Newcastle - Dortmund will be more uncompromising, it seems to me. Dortmund only have one point and need to start winning, while Newcastle will try to solve most of their qualification problem in this game. With 7 points after 3 games they will 90% secure a ticket to the 1/8.

Bayern conceded 3 goals against such a rubbish team as United, and Copenhagen now looks like a specialist in playing number two. Galatasaray was very lucky that they were able to end up drawing 2-2 with Copenhagen, given that the game was in Turkey, this means a lot. I predicted a 3-1 victory for Bayern in this game, but Copenhagen scored first and tried to completely close out, which slightly lowered the overall performance. Bayern took three points but in my opinion still looks unconvincing.

Knock it off! Manchester United is not a rubbish club, they're just poor at the moment of the season, they're having rough and tough times. They will get out of all these. They have both internal and external issues drawing the success of the club backwards.
Galatasaray earned it, the draw against Copenhagen and the win against Manchester United, it was luck not shit. They deserve to maintain that spot. They should drop points when they face Bayern Munich.
~

I can clearly see that the club is having difficult times - they update anti-records after almost every round this season  Grin Maybe I'm speaking harshly because I care about United and I'm angry about these results, but the club is really moving away from the top. United has a shitty coach who makes “useful” transfers with an efficiency of 50% (what else can be tolerated probably), but he is ruining the team from the inside and I am sure that under him things will not get better.
As for Bayern, taking into account the fact that the games with Galatasaray will be 3 and 4 in the group and not 5 or 6 (when the balance of power is already clear and the first place may already be guaranteed for Bayern), then I expect two victories over Galatasaray.
