2221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: October 12, 2023, 06:28:35 PM
Yes, when PSG "stalls", Ligue 1 becomes completely sad. At the moment, the team in first place has 62 percent of victories, and in second place it has 50 percent. Compared to other top leagues, this is a ridiculous indicator, given that PSG will rise and Monaco and Nice will fall, this indicator will be even more eloquent. Ligue 1, as always, is in the pocket of PSG, I think they can easily fully concentrate on the Champions League.

I had to quickly check what the numbers meant that you provided but yes you are right. However, for the sake of entertainment for the fans isn't it better this way? If PSG was once again at a 100% win rate it would already feel as if the league was over less than 10 games. That's what made this league often very boring. But I think it doesn't work that way when you say that PSG could fully concentrate on the Champions League. I believe that a team is always better off when they are challenged almost every week because they have one competitor who keeps up the pressure. When a team only feels pressure every few weeks, I think they are at a disadvantage compared to a team like Manchester City who feel pressure every week. They can cope with it differently and that is what is important in the decisive games in the Champions League. It is not like relaxation leads to better performance all the time.

From an entertainment point of view, I don’t think it really matters since this is definitely not the case like the year before last in Serie A, when 4 strong teams replaced each other like in a kaleidoscope and in the end Milan unexpectedly became the champion. After the 6th round, Brest was the leader... did anyone really think that “wow, Brest is strong this year they will compete for the title”? I doubt it, serious competition is interesting, and not just a crush of average teams which, due to the crisis of the real leader, are temporarily at the top.
As for the influence of competition in the national championship and the tone of the team, you are right, globally this is so. But if you look at individual segments, PSG is definitely in a more advantageous position than Arsenal, which today can play with Bayern in knockout match and three days later with City in a match "for 6 points".
2222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +91147 units on: October 12, 2023, 05:08:57 PM
Could have sworn I posted this earlier today but I don't even see a copy in my drafts so, I have to back a fighting Scotland with several players at peak physical... the type of play Spain can slip up against. With odds like this, and a certainty Scotland wins more than 1 in 15 games, I say good value.

Perhaps confusing this settles before the previous pick, but I'm sure no one cares.

100 units at Sportsbet on Scotland to WIN vs Spain @15.30. Other odds: 12
Bet ID: 65270eb64149c60001a94bd8
Units advantage: 330

Running advantage after 18 bets: +1787 (+330)
All-time cumulative: +91,737
Running units after 16 bets (2W|14L): +184 (+702)

I am completely sure of this too. Scotland already have their ticket to the Euros in their pocket (I don't think they care about finishing exactly on first or second place in the group) so they can literally play however they want and there will be no pressure on them. For Spain the situation is a little worse and in the home game everyone expects only victory from them. Plus, given the increased randomness of national team games, odds of 15 look like a gift.
2223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 11, 2023, 08:15:48 PM
Newcastle will host Dortmund, even though Newcastle is currently the favorite by the bookies. But that doesn't mean they will win the battle easily. Moreover, currently Dortmund is starting to get back on track. I'm quite sure that this match will be an exciting match. Even though Newcastle is playing at their own headquarters, Dortmund will provide resistance in the next meeting. This match has a chance of a draw. because, for me, Newcastle's performance is still unstable. If Dortmund is able to win the next meeting, that means they will also have 4 points. My hunch is that Dortmund will give us a surprise. However, what is certain is that we are waiting for this fight to take place.

As for the other match in the Group F phase, PSG will host Milan. The odds given by the bookie favor Paris Saint-Germain. no different from other matches in this group F phase, the home team is the favorite. For this match, I would favor PSG if Enrique didn't do something strange with his system and formation pattern. Apart from that, Assensio is ready to appear, either as a supersub player, or as a main starter as a center forward. Well, I suspect PSG will win this match. If this is the result, Milan's position is really cornered and on the verge of slipping in this group phase. but to be more certain, I will say once, we are waiting for this battle to be held on matchday 3 of the Champions League group phase.

At the moment, the probability of Newcastle's victory is estimated by bookmakers as 1.84, and the probability of PSG's victory as 1.78. Reasonable odds for teams that are leading the group, but I don’t even know if these odds are profitable from a betting point of view. Dortmund is random, they can win against City, but they can also lose to Braga. PSG is more predictable, but Milan is a firm team and they can either hold on to a 0-0 draw or win in classic style 1-0. It is probably profitable to bet on Newcastle and Milan double chance.
2224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: October 11, 2023, 08:05:37 PM
But this is enough - to be better than your opponents. Bayern were terrible last year and won the “clumsily” title at the finish line, but in a few years no one will remember this and the title will be in history.
The prospects of PSG in the Champions League are doubtful, just like last year and the year before when, together with the star trio, they were knocked out in the 1/8 finals. But due to the randomness, it may turn out that this season will be more successful for them. At the moment, they need to qualify and then hope for luck in the draw.
I agree, the fact that they are only 2 points behind the leader, it shows that their "not doing so well" is still better than almost everyone, one more win and they are at the top and that should show you how good they are. I do not think that they are going to end up losing the league like many are claiming, I think they are going to do fine and we are not going to end up with anything crazy like that.

I know that it's going to be tough deal without a doubt, I do not think that they are going to win the title by like 20 points or something, but they are still by far the best team and even with all the things that has been going on with them, they still managed to keep it close so far and I bet they will take the lead soon.

Yes, when PSG "stalls", Ligue 1 becomes completely sad. At the moment, the team in first place has 62 percent of victories, and in second place it has 50 percent. 2225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: October 11, 2023, 07:59:12 PM
If I understand correctly, taking into account the fact that Spain and Norway will have a head-to-head meeting in the penultimate round, there is simply no chance that both Spain and Norway will overtake Scotland. Impressive result from Scotland, but it's a shame that Norway (it's unlikely that Spain will fall that low) will go to play in the tournament for the losers, I don't think it will be easy there, so we may see the Euros without Haaland.

You are forgetting the fact that Spain has 4 matches remaining. If they win all these 4 matches, then they will end up with 21 points. On the other hand, Scotland has 3 matches remaining and they are currently at 15 points. So I would say that there is a good chance that Spain will be able to overtake Scotland. That said, I don't have much hope for Norway. They are at 7 points after 5 matches. Even if they win all the remaining matches, they may not be able to qualify for the main tournament. Hard luck for quality players such as Erling Håland and Martin Ødegaard.

No, I didn’t forget (how can i forget if the standings are in front of my face hehe). I gave my reasoning that both teams will overtake Scotland. This is unrealistic. Purely mathematically this is possible, but for this it is necessary for Scotland to score 0 points in the remaining 3 games, Norway to win all 3 games (including the game with Spain) and Spain to win the 3 remaining games. Any deviation from this plan automatically qualifies Scotland. I think if you bet ten bucks on such a general outcome, you can get an odds close to 1000  Wink
2226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: October 11, 2023, 07:51:35 PM
Yep. It is quite difficult to expect other quotes when a team becomes champion 11 times in a row. If you look at it from this point of view, 1.25 can even be called a generous coefficient. However, if things continue the same way for Bayern, then I will begin to doubt them. They concede a lot of goals (in the Bundesliga this is not the case, but in the season on average yes) and so far their results are very far from the expected dominance.
As for Stuttgart, they have no chance in the long term, but it will be interesting how long they can stay at the top. Bayer is naturally the more serious contender.

Calling this a generous coefficient is a bit too much I think, but yes this is also owed to the fact that Dortmund is quite inconsistent at times. They have had some good results now for a while, but all too often they fall back into their weak game again and also make massive individual mistakes. As this will be punished by Bayern more than by any other team, I think the odds are about fair. Frankly, if I had to place a bet, I would probably go with a tiny bet on a Dortmund win although history proves me also wrong I think. I can't remember when Dortmund won their last game against Bayern in Munich.

I checked and Dortmund won their last game in 2018 at home against them. And it was in April 2014 when Dortmund won their last game in Munich 3-0. Ok, my hypothetical bet would likely fail Wink but that is why the odds are the way they are.

Why? Last year, Bavaria's quotes were consistently around 1.05-1.06 even when it was clear that it was in a deep crisis. I reason from this point of view; naturally, I will not make such a long-term bet for the sake of 25% (which, by the way, is not guaranteed). If I were to bet, it would be more likely on Bayer, Dortmund missed their ten-year chance last year, now they have to wait another 10 years  Grin

Bellingham in Real Madrid is something out of this world, he is having so much luck asides of his mega skills. I dont remember a transfer so good for real since Cristiano Ronaldo one. Plus in this time where any team paid quirky ammount of money for random players or youths stars and ended up being a piece of shit, this seems to be not that case, and he is making a super season.

I was amazed that in the first 10 games for Real Bellingham, being a midfielder, was able to break Ronaldo's record - he scored 10 goals and made 3 assists (for Ronaldo it was 10 goals plus one assist). It is obvious that this acquisition of Real was the right decision and perhaps a key one for many years to come. Next summer Real will receive either Mbappe or Haaland and I'm afraid to imagine what the trio Vinny - Bellingham - Mbappe/Haaland will be capable of  Roll Eyes

I read in the news today that City still cannot convince Haaland to sign a new contract with an increased release amount and a longer term one. At the moment, his release clause is 173 million and if you look at other transfers, it doesn’t look too expensive or above the market. I have a suspicion that if Real doesn't get Mbappe on good terms, they will buy Haaland. An excellent opportunity for Real Madrid to have a strong position in negotiations with Mbappe.

If I remember correctly, before the start of the season when City’s hegemony was undisputed, City’s quotes were approximately 1.7 (or slightly less). Now, after KDB was injured and does not play, after City, after the easiest part of the championship, found themselves only in 3rd place, their quotes have fallen only quite a bit. This seems illogical to me. There are games ahead with direct competitors, and based on the logic of the bookmakers, what should be the odds, for example, for the game City - Liverpool? 1.5 - 3.5 - 6.4? LOL
If so then of course i will bet against City.

If those are the odds then it is logical to bet against them. They are showing signs of weakness in these last two games that they lost in a row and add to them their loss in the cup with Newcastle things does not look well for them. They are lucky that they have 2 weeks time because of International break during this week otherwise I don't know what would have happened next.

For Liverpool though I am quite a bit disappointed as they were winning against Brighton and could not hold up and if they cannot hold up against Brighton then most likely they cannot hold up against City.

But if you think this way, it turns out that if City could not resist Wolves and Arsenal, then they will not be able to resist Liverpool  Cheesy

Is that the outrights for winning the league?  I'd say the books got it right.  City's squad is deep and that will come into play when the other clubs start fading in the final stretch of the season.  Remember last year when everybody thought that Arsenal was gonna get the EPL trophy?  City just kept at it and won the League, the FA Cup and the UCL.  And if anything I'd say gamble on Klopp and Liverpool at that line.  They have the grit to push on through.  If they could get it together, they could win imho.

Yes. Yes, everyone knows the advantages of the City, but they also have disadvantages. And I don't think the difference between City and everyone else is the same as in the Bundesliga where Bayern can win the title by giving their opponents almost any head start at the start of the tournament. There are decisive games ahead, let's see if the bookmakers are right.

There's a new story at Man United. Casemiro is now seen as the team's weakest link. However, being the weakest link doesn't mean he's out of position. Casemiro is a good player, but age is catching up. He's giving his best, but he's slowing down, struggling to cover ground quickly or make swift decisions. Consequently, he's committing more fouls.
Every player has their ups and downs. Currently, he's not in top form, but it's hope that he'll bounce back.

Casemiro is a defensive midfielder, not a playmaker. Just because Ten Hag is bad at using the tools at his disposal does not mean that the tools are bad, but rather that Ten Hag is a fool. In addition, the fouls he commits do not mean that he is to blame for them, for example recently when Onana made a bad pass and Casemiro had to make a foul to save the team from a goal, it was Onana's fault and not Casemiro.

2232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 11, 2023, 04:06:28 PM
Gambling is a place to spend money, although many gamblers consider casinos to be a place to earn money. But in reality, more gamblers lose their money at casinos or gambling sites. So I think all of us here probably have almost the same experience, namely losing a lot of money gambling

I also lost money because I lost on gambling, but maybe not that much. But I know there are people who spend a lot of money for gambling. In your opinion, what should we do if we have lost a lot of money on gambling? Do we keep gambling to win so we can cover up previous losses? or stop and work normally and leave gambling? Or do you have other suggestions?

I think we should take out the maximum loan from the bank and try to recoup. If this does not help, you need to borrow money from everyone you can (even from criminals) and try to win back again  Grin

Of course I'm joking. But it seems to me that after we lost big, it’s too late to think about what needs to be done - a much smarter move would be to think about options before we lose big. Those who are more or less smart will protect themselves already at this stage by simply refusing to play for money that is beyond their means.
2233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 11, 2023, 04:00:31 PM
At one of the local gambling shop I visited during the weekend I happened to listen to a conversation between two bald looking gamblers

Grin What does it mean? Are there mentally bald people who don't look bald?

at the shop talking about one of their gambling colleague who had won a big amount of money amounting to a million in the local currency and due to that win this colleague of theirs' has been avoiding them since e won that money. From their conversation it was obvious that they were a circle of close three friends that gamble together.

After all I finished with my bet headed home and was asking myself what could the colleague act that way avoiding his close friends they all gambling together and just because luck shines on him first he decides to create a distance and class. I couldn't actually annex a good reason why anyone should do that.

This is completely rational behavior. I remember there was a topic here about a player who won a lot of money and he immediately had many relatives and friends who began to borrow money from him (knowing that he was kind-hearted and would not insist on repaying the debt). Apparently this lucky person insures himself against such stories.

Looks interested upcoming match UEFA Euro Qualifiers between Spain vs Scotland, Spain have win in this match because they want make points close with Scotland on current standing Group remaining 6 points left. On other side, Norway as potential national team warning due two points left and bad thing if Spain loss points with their position not secure for playing in UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany. All possibilities with Group A happening with some national team have three matches left, but Scotland seems comfortable on their first standings position remaining 8 points left from Norway with two teams each group stage will automatically qualify to EURO 2024. For Group A seems Scotland have one leg their position in final round and waiting potential national teams between Spain or Norway will be partner for Scotland team.

2235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a strategy to lose on: October 10, 2023, 11:03:51 AM
Gambling is based on luck for real but that doesn't mean you should be dividing your attention into poker, soccer, horse racing, or roulette all at once, you need to choose a side and learn everything you can about the game. This is the mistake that many gamblers are making, they believe since it's all about luck they should expand the possibility to get lucky and it always end up badly for them.

It's no doubt that Poker for example is all about been cunning, logical and deception to gain power over your opponent, it's called upper advantage, this is way different from games like Blackjack, roulette or Slots.

So imagine doing all these together, most gambling games needs your understanding of the odds and taking them into account, especially when wagering, so how can a gambler get involved in all games at once just to increase their chances of getting lucky? Stop this as it's not a strategy to win, it's a strategy to lose.

If a gambler has enough free time and money, then why shouldn’t he play everything? It seems to me that the mathematical chances will be the same even if he plays dice for 10 hours or different gambling games every hour (it is clear that the casino advantage is slightly different everywhere, but the general meaning does not change) for 10 hours.
The most important thing is to have fun, there is no winning strategy (even in poker).
2236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 10, 2023, 10:06:07 AM
I'd say Chelsea and Manchester United won't be in the top four of the points table this season. Liverpool are now fourth in the table. Liverpool's points are 17. On the other hand, Manchester United's points are now 12 and Chelsea's points are now only 11. Reducing this 5/6 point gap is much more difficult, as the teams at the top of the table have all performed very strongly and regularly. To everyone's surprise, the Tottenham team is now at the top of the points table. United and Chelsea coaches should only try to stabilize their team's performance this season. They have no need to go to the top of the table. They need to prepare their squad from now to perform well next season. And they should plan for the long term.

The problem for United and Chelsea is not the number of points (there are still many rounds ahead) but their poor performance and so far it doesn’t look like the team’s coaches can do anything about it. Bookmakers currently rate United's odds of finishing in the top 4 as 4.50 and Chelsea's chances as 5.0. And in my opinion, even these odds are very optimistic - after all, the top 4 is already occupied by strong teams, plus there are Newcastle and a couple of underdogs (Brighton and Aston Villa) which will be difficult to overtake.

What do you think about the quotes?

Manchester City 1.73

Arsenal 5.00

Liverpool 6.50

Tottenham Hotspur 13.00

City, after the easiest stretch of 8 games, ended up in 3rd place, but at the same time is rated better than Arsenal, which is ahead.
A bit unfair.

Lol at that 1.73 odd for City, what do the bookies think after they have failed miserably to win against Wolves and Arsenal did beat them in the head to head game. For me the most ideal team to bet on would be either Arsenal or either Liverpool which for me are the teams with most chances to win the Premier League season this time.

I know Tottenham has been doing really well too but they are not convincing and they lack the star players these other teams have which in the long run I am highly confident can make a difference and that is why I choose either Liverpool or Arsenal as the most likely winner of the Premier League.

Arsenal won, therefore there will not be such a big scandal as after the Tottenham - Liverpool game, although in my opinion such a mistake has a greater impact on the outcome of the game than a counted or disallowed goal. Football has long since reached a level where a numerical majority means a lot (not like in hockey, but almost).
As for Holland, it makes sense to bet that he will score 2+ goals in the next game. For him it always happens at this pace - either nothing, or a hat trick.

Erling Haaland will get back to scoring ways, it is okay to feel like a big mess up. He lacked creative players to help with those passes.

Liverpool - Tottenham Hotspur shouldn't have ended in favor of Tottenham. That goal should have been ruled offside. Match officials can also be real biased. Tottenham Hotspur though, have won Manchester United, Liverpool and drawing with Arsenal. Sure they will get a win against Chelsea and draw to Manchester City.

If Tottenham does win against Chelsea and draw with City, then I would say that this will be a championship schedule. It's probably too early to rate Tottenham so highly - every season there are teams that start great, but achieving success over the long haul is a completely different matter.
As for Haaland, he has 8 goals in 8 games, more than anyone else. I wonder if he scores a hat trick in every game, will he be harshly criticized immediately after he scores only two goals in one of the games?  Grin

I wanted to prepare a betslip with the score predictions I made in the pool. As a matter of fact I was almost going to predict the score of the Bayer Leverkusen - Koln match as well if I wasn't late. I can't believe that my betslip lost by Bayern Munich's only one goal. Coman scored the 3rd goal in the 85th minute so I got excited as there was time. But that last goal I needed didn't come. Sad

Wow, nice bet! To be honest, taking into account how frivolously Bayern plays in defense, for me the maximum score without conceding goals for them is 3-0. If I thought they would score 4 I would have gone for 4-1.
Do you often place such bets (on the exact score and with such huge odds as 70)? I’m thinking about starting to place bets on the exact score, but so far I can’t understand what kind of payback prospects such bets have.

Quite a strange situation: Barcelona lost points for the second time in a game with an outsider and is now 3 points behind Real Madrid. At the same time, Real lost points only in the game with strong Atletico. In turn, Atlético, if we take into account the game in reserve, is one point ahead of Barcelona. But the title quotes are as follows:

Real Madrid 1.89

Barcelona Fc 2.20

Atlético Madrid 10.00

In my opinion, Real and Atletico are underrated and Barcelona are overrated. I don’t see Atlético as a contender for the title, but the numbers are such that they should be rated higher.

For me Atletico Madrid is on the best run here having won 2 great games, both at home against Real Madrid which gave them a huge boost in confidence and they have continued winning by beating this last weekend another very good performing team lately,Real Sociedad.

Barcelona with the draw of yesterday game should have the odd of 3.5 at least as they are three points behind Real Madrid and they are on equal points or just one point disadvantage to have that low odd nearly identical to Real Madrid.

Yes, Barcelona is clearly overrated. I wonder what the bookmakers expect after Barcelona suffers in games with outsiders and loses points in them, that Barcelona will win all head-to-head matches against Real and Atlético? This is naive (although this can happen, I do not deny it, but the likelihood of this is low). By the way, on October 28th the Barcelona - Real Madrid game will take place and we will see how right (or wrong) the bookmakers are.
