From the news circulating now, it seems that Manchester United management is ready to fire Erik Ten Hag even though he has to pay a large amount of compensation. Even rumors regarding potential successors at Manchester United have also begun to circulate, including:

1. Zinedine Zidane
2. Roberto De Zerbi
3. Xabi Alonso
4. Graham Potter, and
5. Hansi Flick

Zidane, De Zerbi and Xabi are the most ideal candidates IMO considering their recent achievements Roll Eyes.

It always surprises me when Zidane's name appears in such rumors. He has already said 100 times that he will not go to the Premier League, and even made up funny excuses like “I don’t know English.” In addition, from his behavior it is clear that he is ready to take on coaching only a top club in which at least titles within the national championship will be guaranteed. He will never go to a crisis club that is very similar not to a top club but to a club at a lower level.

Just wait till the middle of this champions league to see Manchester united in another level that will make you to love their game whenever they want to play their opponent, and then you will know that Manchester united is not a small team you can just predict failure and it will come to stand in the future. I guess, Manchester united coach has discovered what made them to lose last game which the coach made some promised that he will train his players to win their next game to clear the air that he is capable to lead the team to a standard ground.

Manchester united group are not poor group, but base on the preparations that is going on in the camp of Manchester united now, it show that Manchester united will win their next games to maintain a good leading till they get to final to try their best to lift the trophy.

It looks like you are the most optimistic United fan not only on this forum but in general! From what I see in the news regarding the sale of part of United to Radcliffe, I can suggest that now everyone in the club is most thinking about what consequences this will entail (the new co-owner may have a different policy regarding many issues). In such conditions, everyone is busy protecting their personal interests and not the affairs of the club as a sports project (purely my proposal).

I heard that he extended his contract with Real until 2027 so it is obvious that he is staying. But I would like him to concentrate more on football and not on racists (even if there are a lot of them in the football environment) - after all, he cannot change them and why waste energy on them if he needs to concentrate on football? He needs to accept the fact that any star football player lives his whole life under enormous pressure from haters and learn not to pay attention to it.

I agree, but still it is a double-edged sword. I think he is raising important awareness when he brings these issues up and shows emotions, but at the same time I couldn't agree more that it would be said if his performance or mental well-being and consequently his performance suffers from idiots throwing bananas or making monkey sounds. But if he doesn't say anything or doesn't react to it, maybe nobody does and it is just forgotten. There are so many cameras all over this world, I often wonder why can't they film these idiots, identify at least a few of them and ban them for a lifetime and if they are found again, put them into jail straight in cooperation with the police. The penalties would have to be draconic.

I am not a fan of draconian measures, since we have all already seen how broadly the concept of racism or any other action can be interpreted (when, quite recently, you could be declared a terrorist for not wearing a medical mask).
The most correct strategy for Vinnie is to first make a great name for himself in football and then engage in political activism if he wants. It seems to me unproductive to work on two fronts.

1785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 03, 2023, 11:39:54 AM
I can't think of a good reason why Mbappe should fear any competition for individual awards. Whether it is against Bellingham or Haaland or Vinicius Junior, why should Mbappe hide? It is quite the contrary as going to Real Madrid would significantly raise his chances to finally win an individual award. it doesn't matter at which club he would be playing, being against Bellingham and Haaland will forever be a matter of fact and if he plays for a club that can't win the Champions League while Haaland and Bellingham do win the Champions League, I think he won't have a chance to win individual awards like the Ballon Ballon d’Or ever. This is why I consider it more of a necessity to go to Real Madrid more than anything else if his goal is to advance his legacy as a player also on the club level.

Well... in fact, the logic here is not as straightforward as it might seem. Haaland had the best season last season (which is confirmed by statistics) and achieved the treble, but did not receive the Ballon d'Or. Mbappe, in turn, has been the World Champion for a long time and already has phenomenal statistics at two similar tournaments in a row, but he also did not receive the coveted award.
I agree that Mbappe should not be afraid of competition and should go to Real Madrid, but as we see in achieving PR awards, logic does not always work.
1786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 03, 2023, 11:29:35 AM
Old times don't play on the field  Wink Now, even with one point more, Juventus is rated worse than Milan:

Inter 1.91

Ac Milan 3.75

Juventus 4.50

I don’t know whether this is correct or not, since Milan has actual bad results in big games, in any case, guessing who will become the champion in Serie A is a dubious activity. By the way, Milan has a very large number of goals conceded (they are the worst in the top 4), I think this is important even despite the fact that Inter scored many of these goals.

In my opinion, the odds for Juventus are incorrect, considering the fact that the team, also known as the Old Lady, has been consistently performing better than AC Milan at this moment. Seeing how acmilan got lose streak made me think that if pioli has lost its chance for the title race.
Milan has worst defendive lines compared with intermilan and juventus. Despite the unpredictable nature of the winner of Serie A, speculation plays a vital role in attempting to predict the uncertain outcome, particularly in determining the club with the greatest potential to clinch the title.
I see no problem in predicting it but my choice would be going for juventus/milan to get the scudetto this season. Im still feeling so confidence with the performance from both of clubs.

We must remember that if juventus had been facing several problems but it can be fixed by allegri. It's not also affecting the performance from old lady at this moment.
Juventus deserves to be called as tougher competitor for intermilan this season.

Did you mean Inter and Juventus? It seems to me that you are wrong to call Inter Intermilan sometimes this causes confusion.
Juventus' odds look unfair, I agree with that. Juventus can honestly be called an underdog relative to Inter, but the difference is definitely not twofold as you might think now if you look at the quotes.
1787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerians spend $975m daily on online betting on: November 03, 2023, 11:20:57 AM
When a third of the population is involved in gambling (and if you take away the children and the elderly who no longer need anything, then this is not a third, but rather half) then it looks like an epidemic. I don't know how bad gambling affects most Nigerians, maybe they have fun responsibly and don't have any problems with gambling, but from the outside it looks terrible.
Basing up on the numbers then it is really that quite alarming but if there's nothing that we can see about on some odd actions and doings then there's nothing we can do if they are really that a fan
on making up bets but as said that this is 3rd world country on which it does basically means that people arent really that mostly that being rich but still getting involved with gambling?
This do totally shows that they are really that addicted to gambling which basing up on the population number and the % of those gamblers then we can say that they are really that getting
involved that much with gambling. Gambling industry is really indeed making that huge revenue considering about almost a billion $$ a day? Whatt?
Just like you had mentioned on which this is really that still excluded on online crypto gambling too which means that numbers arent still that precise but
pretty sure it would really be just that more.

I’m not afraid of the amount of money in this industry because if you take the amount of money in the alcohol industry or even the bread industry, there will be billions a day. The percentage of people involved in this scares me, it even looks unreal. I knew several addicted gamblers, but the acute period of their addiction lasted no more than a few years. I don’t think Nigerians are special people who can spend their money on gambling for years and never end up with it. But if you believe these statistics, then this is exactly the case.
1788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: November 03, 2023, 11:12:48 AM
Since they signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United during the January transfer window, the Saudi Arabian League officials has hugely invested in football in the country by signing so many other big Europeans players. They paid for all these huge signings just to improve the quality of the league and as well draw more global audience. The Saudi League is now watched by millions of people around the world and yesterday, FIFA officially awarded the FIFA World Cup 2034 to them. Despite calls from most of the European countries to FIFA not allow the world cup hosted in an Islamic country. Congratulations to the people of Saudi Arabia.

FIFA should not be called, they should be paid  Grin Saudis have more money and, most importantly, the ability to manage it in various murky schemes, while in Europe there is always a risk that the information will become public and, at the very least, there will be a scandal. By the way, will this also be a winter World Cup? In general, 2034 now looks like a cosmically distant year; now it’s even difficult to imagine who the top players will be by that time (but Messi will receive the Balloon d'Or by inertia).
1789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: November 03, 2023, 11:02:24 AM
I haven’t seen the details yet, but it looks like this is a rare case when the coach himself leaves, realizing that he can’t cope. Modern coaches prefer to embarrass themselves until the end and wait until the club itself asks to terminate the contract in order to receive a penalty for early termination. The next game against Leipzig will be interesting, usually a resignation has a serious impact on the players as they try to prove themselves to the future coach and keep their place in the squad.

In any case, it is not very often that a coach resigns. But I have to ask myself why? Does he no longer have any standings with the team? Is there a lack of respect? Perhaps we will find out. Financially, it certainly does not seem to be the reason. After all, if the club would have  dismissed him, he would receive a severance package.
In any case, it will be interesting when the team will play completely differently against Leipzig. If they are better than before, it was definitely the right decision from Bo Svenson.

Mainz are in last place in the standings and have zero wins. After the respectable 9th place they finished last season, this is an obvious disaster and a reason to radically change something. Yes, I also think that the contract with the club was terminated by mutual agreement and naturally they made some payments to him. In general, everyone saved face in this situation. For the game with Leipzig, I predict 3-1 in favor of Leipzig, after all, the dismissal of the manager should not greatly change the balance of power in this pair.

Wink
1791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ballon d'Or discussion and odds on: November 02, 2023, 08:59:49 PM
Exactly! Plus Sneijder, Forlan and others who in different years were stronger than Messi, but they did not receive a prize, but he did. That's right - Messi is an ordinary player who was promoted by corrupt officials.
You are confusing the exact same year, 2010. Your entire focus seems to be on the world cup so I assume that is the year you are talking about.
Stop mixing reality up to suit your agenda.
Then explain what you mean by "stronger"? I have already mentioned that reality is not what you think but what it is. So you do not simply say team A is better than B and that becomes it.

Also, did those corrupt officials score the goals and create the assists he made?
Did they break the records he broke and create the magic he did on the ball?

Stop lying, I’m not writing about one year (or tournament) when everything can be attributed to randomness. There is a whole period from 2008-2012 when Xavi and Iniesta achieved their greatest achievement - two European Champion titles in a row and a World Cup. Can you name teams that achieved the same? This is the real magic and legendary achievement and breaking of records.

At the same time, Messi failed at the World Cup and was an ordinary player at the America's Cup, you can come up with different excuses but these are simple facts.
Thus, during this period, both Xavi and Iniesta were 1000 times better than Messi, but they received zero Ballon d'Or, and he received 4  Grin

It’s good that you talked about reality, because it was in reality that Xavi and Iniesta won the World Cup and two European Championships in just 4 years (a legendary achievement) and Messi failed without them.
Totally different National team sides. Your points are really showing you to have a poor perspective of football.
Spain had a complete team at the time and had a great manager. Argentina on the other hand simply had lots of good attackers but not a complete team.
Messi is not a national team, neither was Xavi or Iniesta, and as good as any player was they need a system to function.

These stories have already been discussed here: when the team won, it was Messi’s merit, when it lost, it was not Messi’s fault  Grin Cool story.

Yes, yes, you can repeat all this many times, but why can’t you explain what happened in the period 2008-2012? Xavi, Iniesta and Messi have the same achievements at the club level, and are absolutely cosmically different at the national team level. At the same time, Messi collected all the awards even though he was monstrously worse than Iniesta and Xavi.
You are the one repetitively comparing Xavi and Iniesta to Messi and linking the glory days of Spain. If I wanted to indulge your ridiculous argument, I will say Xavi and Iniesta failed at 2014 world cup, while Messi got to the final and won the golden ball. But it still balls down to the team, Spain at that time had reached an epoch and could not go beyond it till they had a change in system.

You can write all the stories and absurdities you want, but you can’t escape the facts: Xavi and Iniesta did great without Messi and achieved a legendary achievement, but without them he first failed, and then could not be above average. I suppose now you will write anything about any other year but will you ignore 2008-2012?  Roll Eyes

Monstrously is a heavy word, does not fit anywhere in this conversation really.
Answer one question honestly, Do you think personal achievements are determined more by "personal" performance or team performance?

- Jay -

In a team sport it is very difficult to separate the team from the individual, but here is a rare case when this is possible: everyone we are talking about played in the same club, but in different national teams. And the fact is that without Xavi and Iniesta, Messi was just a gray player, did not stand out at all, while Xavi and Iniesta achieved something legendary.

And that's not all: Messi had phenomenal goal statistics in those years while playing for Barcelona, he scored something like 80% of the club's goals +- and scored almost a goal per game. Seems incredible, right? (I'm speaking as a Messi fan haha). But the most incredible thing (for Messi fans) is that he was completely replaceable.

Villa scored 5 goals in 7 games at the 2010 World Cup (first place in the list of scorers). At the 2008 European Championship, Villa scored 4 goals in 6 games (sole first place in the list of scorers). If we take the qualifying rounds for the World Cup and the European Championship, Villa has stats of 18 goals in 21 games.

Does this statistic remind you of anything?  Roll Eyes Whose merit here do you think is greater: Xavi and Iniesta or Villa (who apparently should have received all the Ballon d'Ors in those years)?
Fanboys gives a paradoxical answer to this question: Messi  Grin
But the facts remain facts: Messi was the player that was replaceable by almost a random player.

in the bundesliga in last place and now out of the dfb cup. that was too much. now i'm curious to see who will be the new coach at mainz.

edit: edit: bo svenson has announced his resignation on his own initiative !
U23 coach jan siewert takes over the team until a new coach is found

What a great decision I guess, because usually coaches who have been in the team for a long time will continue to make efforts to be able to restore the team. But for Bo Svensson, it was the right choice to resign, because Mainz this season is very bad despite the fact that in the previous season Bo Svensson was still able to provide good results for Mainz. But yes, let's look forward to what big changes Jan Siewert will make, because it is certainly not easy to make a quick recovery at this moment because Mainz is still at the bottom of the Bundesliga table.

I haven’t seen the details yet, but it looks like this is a rare case when the coach himself leaves, realizing that he can’t cope. Modern coaches prefer to embarrass themselves until the end and wait until the club itself asks to terminate the contract in order to receive a penalty for early termination. I will not blame Al Hilal for signing Neymar, but did they not consider beforehand that this player has a history of recurring injuries? This should have been their consideration from the start, because after all it will hurt them when after spending a lot of money, but the player cannot play and contribute to the team, especially since his injury is expected to take a very long time even until the end of this season.
Al Hilal have taken that risk from the start, and they should be able to accept it when it comes now.

I think they were thinking something along the lines of "this guy is an asshole, gets injured often, is undisciplined and lazy, but he is a big brand so even if he appears in 50% of the games, our investment will be worth it." By an evil irony, he almost immediately first received a minor injury and missed the beginning of the season, and then after a couple of indistinct games he received a serious injury that ended the season for him. If we ignore the tragic part for Neymar, then for the Saudis this whole story looks comical. The “margin of risk” they took upon themselves was overcome immediately.

Data from the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) has revealed that over 65 million Nigerians actively engage in betting, spending an average of $15 daily. This is just as it disclosed that everyday, 14 million bet takes and payments are made online in the country. continue reading here....

Recalled that Nigeria population is estimated to be around 200+million and from the information above, over 65 million people are engaged in gambling on a daily basis amounting to over 32% of the country population. Right? It's so nice to see like a whole page of games and I'm sure the small teams love it, even if they have to lose to Getafe 12-0 lol

No surprises though, but maybe a lot of people lost money as many La Liga teams like Sociedad and Athletic even Girona only won by 1 goal.
~

Yesterday when I saw the news headline “Betis and Getafe scored 12 goals each in the Copa del Rey” I thought: the score is 12-12? What kind of nonsense is this? But it turned out that these were games against other teams and Betis won with a score of 12-1. I was always surprised by such unequal games and always wondered why top teams mostly play the early stages of the tournament with a rotation lineup instead of playing with the main squad and making records like 30-0  Grin
1799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 02, 2023, 04:13:54 PM
Juventus still has a chance to get the title in Serie A leading in this league if we remember from the past Juventus is one of the big clubs and deserves to get the title in this league just like Inter Milan who also really deserves to be the lead until the end of the season in the rankings. firstly in the points table and indeed CL or European league matches are one the obstacles for a club to appear consistently in series A, whereas Juventus does not have this obstacle so it would be very natural if Juventus would hold the Scudetto title this season.
Inter Milan probably also doesn't want to waste this opportunity but this club must focus on the CL matches and if they manage to reach the top of the final in the Champions League I think Inter will give up the Series A title for Juventus.

Real Madrid is not completely safe from leading the standings even though they currently have several points ahead of Barcelona. Girona are level on points with Real Madrid, as are Atletico Madrid if they win their postponed match. Game by game it will be tough for all the teams although for now Real Madrid, Girona and Atletico Madrid look unstoppable, but yes they may still drop points in some of their other games in November or December.

Right now Barcelona is 4 points behind Real Madrid and Girona, but there are many people who believe that Barcelona can close the point gap when the team above them slips. I don't know which team can beat the current leaders besides Atletico Madrid, but Real Madrid cannot underestimate Rayo Vallecano in the next match.

I don't really agree with you. I think there is currently no team to race with Real Madrid. In fact, Girona had good performances so far but compared to Real Madrid they do have not enough potential and I don't expect them to take the first pale in the La Liga from Real Madrid. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid is not in good form yet and the only team to race with Real Madrid is Barcelona while there is a four-point gap between these two teams.

Barcelona's big problem is that it loses points in games with outsiders, plus it lost a personal meeting with Real. At least temporarily, Real has eliminated the danger from Barcelona and now everything depends on Real.
As for Atlético, no one takes it seriously because in recent years they have consistently degraded, but in fact now they have equal points with Real (with a different number of games, lost points must be counted) and a won personal meeting.
