2641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The digital ID for Gambling on: June 19, 2022, 10:55:19 PM
^

These days, even teenagers know how to use a VPN, so the introduction of digital IDs for gambling just makes no sense. They can easily register at a gambling site that does not require these innovations and play there. So I think that a waste of budget money or this initiative has deeper motives aimed at the interests of the state and the protection of children is only a reason to push this initiative among the public.

Using a VPN on any website that demands KYC is just asking to be banned and have your funds frozen.

Although personally, I am all for greater security and anonymity, I would probably not want to risk it. No matter how sure of yourself you seem, I am certain a VPN can be sometimes detected. And while your IP is safe from prying eyes (unless you break laws), I do not think the IP of a VPN is all that unknown.

Digital ID's are completely redundant though. Except for the people who don't mind doing KYC in the first place... Honestly I would rather have a Digital ID rather than have to provide my personal documents to every single website that asks for KYC.
2642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deriving pleasure in gambling even while losing. on: June 19, 2022, 04:23:41 PM
Almost everyone that engaged in gambling did so with the sole aim to making money through winnings from their bets, and I don't think there's any reasonable gambler that goes on comfortably smiling in the process of losing his money to gambling no matter how little in amount the stake might be.

For I often wonder how gambling will look like for a gambler going on for days or weeks be it with online casinos or betshops without winning even a stake but then I discovered a certain guy around my neighborhood that I met within one of the betshops around my street that enjoys and derives pleasure in just playing gambling even without winning any stake. Like this guy has no big deal with losing his bets as long he keeps on playing and it baffles me if it's a psychological issue or what?

For it baffles me that someone could decide to engage into gambling only because of the pleasure he claims to derive while engaging in it as opposed to making profit or winning money which is every gamblers most concern.
Just yo raise some discussion, could this be a psychological related issues or is just a normal thing?
Also, have you come across such persons and what was your expression?

The whole point in gambling is to keep striving for that almost unachievable goal of winning an amazing amount of money. While realistically, that goal is almost unachievable and statistically extremely unlikely, it is still something that gamblers strive towards. And every little win that brings you closer to that goal aka winning smaller amounts of money gives you a little dopamine rush. Which is the main thing gamblers want, I guess. And the chance of losing too, gives you a little rush but not as good as when winning.

Its all about the dopamine, really. Even if you win 1 million USD gambling, you probably will not quit your gambling habits.
2643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PETER SCHIFF IS RIGHT... All Ponzi Schemes eventually FAIL even BlockChain Ponzi on: June 18, 2022, 05:36:31 PM
Excuse me I may have missed something. Which part of blockchain bears any kind of resemblance to a ponzi scheme? Blockchain is the technology behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Its not actually Bitcoin itself.

If you don't want to buy the dip because you are in an emotional state of fear from the price dropping lower than you thought or hoped, then thats fine. But there is absolutely no reason to spread FUD. You want others to panic sell too?

The current price of BTC is going down, not because of a ponzi scheme but because of increasing FUD.

If Binance disables Bitcoin withdrawal for whatever random reason, the price drops because of panic sellers. You know who buys that coin? Binance. Same goes for every other big player hoping to buy cheap coin from scared coiners...
2644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2022, 03:21:19 AM
Am I the asshole for wanting to help a fellow long time WOer, who had the courage to ask for help for himself and his family?

I would have even helped someone like death_wish, had I not known he was a bitter person with a disgusting personality. Maybe that makes me gullible. Or maybe I feel like I can place a certain amount of trust into hatcoiners with a long reputation? IDK thats just me.

In my dictionary, begging is something negative when done for personal gain and in insidious ways.

I am sure that from death_wish's perspective, Dabs's charity for starving children is a reportable offense as well. And if I were to take his stupid bet, I am sure he would consider children's charity a form of "begging" as well and nag me for my money until I gave up.

So I am not taking any dumb bets like that since I am more than sure that Dabs has selflessly asked for donations on the behalf of others who were in need.

I am however very sure that he would not go around asking for money for personal profit and malicious intent. Whether on the forum on in a pm. And I am not going to bet on that either, because I don't feel like taking money out of the hands of a suicidal, broke troll.
2645  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2022, 01:16:06 AM
I was not begging for him, I was asking WO if we could help him out and suggesting any unwanted BTC can go towards that goal. Neither am I sure whether or not he is sincere. But why would an old member with so much trust, merit and history on his profile on Bitcointalk be lying about a despicable situation that he is trying to get out of? And all that for a few peanuts? That does not make sense to me. Report me if you want, you're still a jackass in my book either way.

Consistently with the note that I appended at the end of my prior post before I saw your reply:

I am not accusing Dabs of lying about whatever situation he claims to be in.  You are inserting that here as your strawman, goldkingcoiner.

Some people repeatedly get themselves into desperate situations.  (I know this, all too personally.)  Maybe he was telling the truth before—maybe not.  Maybe he is telling the truth now—maybe not.  It is irrelevant to anything that I said.

I said that Dabs has PM-begged before—and now, you are publicly begging on his behalf.  Right in front of someone who is clearly at least as desperate as Dabs, but who is taking the high road.  You’re the jackass.  Don’t you care about my desperate situation?

Incidentally, this is why begging is against forum rules.  Lots of people are genuinely in need.

So, are you a betting man, goldkingcoiner?

Edited to add, for the record:  goldkingcoiner is also lying about his own post when put it in terms of “any unwanted BTC”.  His post started with that, then segued immediately into a general beg.  (Not that asking for “any unwanted BTC” would be ok, but that’s not even what this was.)

Post archived in multiple places (archive.ph, Wayback), because it is drastically changed from the original (LoyceV, backup, more backup):

[...]

You could donate it to Dabs if you don't want it. As he told me, he is in an uncomfortable financial situation and could use any and all help. Maybe WO should help him out?

I said any UNWANTED BTC (In this case accumulated BTC DUST) can go to him as a donation. And then I said he could use any and all help. Help can be in many forms. I am helping him find a job, for example.
And then I said maybe WO wants to help?

I do not see the part where I begged on his behalf. I wanted to do a good thing for a good man with a green trust reputation who has been doing good deeds on this forum for a long time.

Here is Dabs doing charity for kids: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=300631.0
is this considered "begging" in your book, too? Do you report the hungry children or dabs for "begging" for them? Go ahead, report the whole thread.

Were you unloved by your parents and now you want everyone to be as miserable as you?

Edit:

Death_wish, lets see who else can back up your claim of dabs "begging" per PMs in the past. If you are making reputation-damaging accusations without providing witness or evidence, that is called slander Libel. An action seen as illegal in many countries. And I will also not let that pass if your accusations are untrue.

So:
Can anyone other than death_wish confirm prove that dabs has been "begging" via pm in the past for personal gain?
2646  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2022, 12:43:56 AM
Dabs has PM-begged in the past.

Can you show us the proof for this? You obviously have proof for your claims? I have never been asked by him for anything up until now. The story he gave me was very realistic and I can empathize with his situation. You are making him seem like some sort of scammer when his reputation seems to be squeaky clean?

If I am for whatever reason aware of something that transpired once upon a time in PMs somewhere, it is obviously not something for which I can toss you a link.

It would go easier for Dabs here, if he were to be a gentleman and step in here to admit that he has randomly PMed out of the blue asking for money before.  Dabs?  I have no grudge against Dabs, though I will if he doesn’t man up here instead of hiding behind you, goldkingcoiner.

As for you, goldkingcoiner, I wonder:  Are you willing to bet with me on whether proof will turn up?  On what odds?  You seem so sure.  I won’t take charity, but I will happily take money from winning a wager; and you are so caring about needy situations, you are shamelessly ignore forum rules in a roundabout way.  (They are “unofficial rules” for this reason:  They are flexible, “spirit of the rules” types of rules.)

Your post #60384355 has been duly reported to the moderators.

7. No begging. [5]
I mercilessly report beggars for violation of forum rules.

I was not begging for him, I was asking WO if we could help him out and suggesting any unwanted accumulation of dusted BTC can go towards that goal. Neither am I sure whether or not he is sincere. But I asked him if he was looking for a job and he gladly accepted my offer to ask some people I know whether they need a community manager or something. That does not sound like begging to me, it sounds like taking any opportunity to earn his own money.

And why would an old member with so much trust, merit and history on his profile on Bitcointalk be lying about a despicable situation that he is trying to get out of? And all that for a few peanuts? That does not make sense to me. Report me if you want, you're still a jackass in my book either way. Enjoy my shitlist.

Even if he is a is pro-Bitcoiner and vows to deregulate everything, I would still not throw away all my doubts and hopes. Especially because of how politicians are almost all just lying dirtbags with no moral compass. The question should rather be does the new South Korean president have any kind of stake Bitcoin, crypto or even just some kind of blockchain technology or its unique use cases?

I will be looking into the background of that gentlemen before I decide whether or not his word can be taken seriously...
2649  Economy / Gambling / Re: hello Players!! on: June 17, 2022, 02:29:21 PM
Hi everyone, any recommendations for improvement in this casino?

https://luckyplayers.io

The design is making my eyes dry out. From a user experience and marketing standpoint you can improve it by a lot. I mean this is just the raw copy paste script with some quick interface design, is it not?

Other than that you could maybe make it look a bit more professional. Right now it looks like it's the first website of the pre-alpha test-version.
if something like that even exists.... lol

But my biggest issue is with how it looks. Both graphically and the interface.

For those who want to smell other people's farts a bit better on a plane this is a great invention.

Double-decker plane seat design ‘comfortable’ but ‘claustrophobic’
https://uk.yahoo.com/style/double-decker-plane-seat-design-120041925.html

Hmmm... This is dystopian.

But I do hope the seats on top can go all the way down just to add that extra, free-of-charge claustrophobia into the journey.
2651  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM ALERT!!! on: June 17, 2022, 02:10:43 PM
There are several telegram channels/groups that act as arbitrage channels; when I first saw the advertisement, I assumed it was legitimate since I saw Binance exchange, which is well-known as a trustworthy exchange, and then there's Bnax exchange.
Here's a link to how it looks with different group names.
https://i.imgur.com/HJXYabM.jpg\s
https://i.imgur.com/jqfqpjM.jpg\s
https://i.imgur.com/xNCLyye.jpg

🔁

Binance.com buy - 30061.12
🔁Bnax.nl sell - 32466.00

Profit per btc traded - 2404.88
Profit % - 8.00

To profit, you will purchase from Binance and sell in bnax.

Then I test it out with a small quantity to see whether it's genuine. I bought BTC from Binance, transferred it to Bnax, sold it for USDT, and then transferred it back to Binance. This was my first successful transaction, and I made a profit. I was so pleased with the return that I decided to invest all of my money in order to make a large profit, but I was unable to withdraw both my profit and my cash from the exchange this time. They require that I reach their institutional level, which requires a sum of $25,000. This is how I was scammed and lost my money.
My recommendation to newbies is to not believe everything they see on Telegram, especially when it comes to free money.

Sorry that had to happen to you Sad

Scammers suck and we are only human so everyone falls for a scammer at some point in their long lives. So really nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks for warning others!

However I noticed your warning would serve better in the scam accusation thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Please be sure to post it in the correct format
2652  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a game you would like to see in an online crypto casino? on: June 17, 2022, 01:46:17 PM
Hey Bitcointalkers,

What games do you like to play (mobile, board games, easy game with friends, etc.) that you would love to see put into an online casino for real betting?

There have been a lot of successful yet simple games in online casinos like Heads or Tails, Over/Under, and more. We are looking to see what games you guys love and wonder if we can turn them into an online betting game!

In fact, this is a great question that gives reason to think well. I wonder how much casino games will change in 10 years? 20 years? Will the good old Poker be as recognizable as it is now? Or will it change?

Everything is always constantly changing. It's a law of physics that movement can never stop in this world of ours. No matter how tiny, there is always something moving and changing.

So obviously the same goes for online gambling casinos and their games.

Personally I have learned to love change. Would be a tad boring if everything always stayed the same. That would be hell after a while.
2653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin for your business just like Tesla: Report on: June 17, 2022, 01:11:36 PM
The topic can be seen as very constructive but it does seem to miss a few important points which need addressing before you even think about accepting Bitcoin in your business. You obviously need to convert part of it into funds for your expenses and taxes. Secondly you need to know your own country's laws on accepting Bitcoin payments (don't forget to get consulation from reputable sources).

And third, which is advice ; give your customers/clients an incentive to pay with Bitcoin.
2654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Japanese man gambled away a huge Covid-19 relief funds mistakenly sent to him on: June 16, 2022, 11:42:44 PM
This story is unrealistic and fishy to me.

I also think too.  Considering the amount deposited and the amount withdrawn for 2 weeks in the given daily amount withdrawals.  There is no way he is able to withdraw all the funds in that account in just two weeks.  There are irregularities in the report.  And why isn't the sender questioned?
which part is unrealistic? the whole thing or just parts of it?

here's another article regarding the news. it has more details in it and it also mentions that they are investigating how the erroneous transfer went unnoticed. it also says that the man has made 34 withdrawals in just over ten days. I am looking for updates regarding this news but I can't find one. I also want to know as to whether there was a foul play or just a mistake from the sender.

Which part is unrealistic?

That is a tough question but if I had to formulate an answer for you right now then I would probably say that the part with that certain japanese man gambling away such large sums of money is extremely unrealistic...

I mean just think about it.  Common human sense would tell you to not gamble that money and pocket it instead. Thats just basic human greed and a healthy human mind. So lets assume that guy was a gambling addict. How rare is that? Being a gambling addict AND accidently receiving a large sum of money that nobody in their right mind would gamble away....

Statistically, its extremely unlikely.
2655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bonus Abuse: Who is to Blame? on: June 16, 2022, 11:05:00 PM
I believe anyone who went into the scam with a bad intention is to blame. Why should we put different people in groups based on superficial and arbitrary blaming of groups?

If the online gambling casino is to blame because it obviously got some kind of profit or advantage from the scam then its the casino which is to blame. Same goes with the "customers" are you called them. A casino needs good security but even if someone breaks through that security it does not make them not responsible for their scamming actions...

So its a bit of a difficult answer I guess.

2657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newbies: Don't panic and learn to hold on: June 16, 2022, 07:54:51 PM
Newbies, do not despair if you lose money trading instead of hodling. Those who trade will understand how much better it is to hodl, in time. But until then trading might seem like a very alluring and lucrative way to earn more coin. Buy low sell high, right?

The problem is reality. And reality says that new traders will almost definitely lose money until they become pros. And even after many years of trading and losing money, you will stay make tiny marginal profits.

Better to hodl.
2658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can a new sportsbook gain trust? on: June 16, 2022, 07:49:54 PM
There is no big deal in gaining trust as long as your sportsbook remains honest with their users. It’s simple trust formula, you give us trusted ecosystem we play and enjoy. Considering other factors, you should have amazing staff support, huge publicity and social network presence which can create enthusiasm between the players and then mouth to mouth publicity also starts. That’s slow and steady process but I have already seen small casinos becoming the mega rollers around the forum. Go for it with proper roadmap and keep entertained audience to gain the trust.

It's a big deal for me, even if a gambling site claimed that they are honest but without the feedback of the people I would still hesitate to gamble on a certain site. The thing is, they build their reputation so they'll become popular as that's the best recipe in order for them to be successful.

Exactly. It is impossibly easy to just say something. Anyone can make any claims they want and we should not give them our trust just based on that. What motivation do they have to tell you the truth? If anything they would only want to be seen in a positive light.

Its the users who sometimes experience situations that are quite uncomfortable or downright painful. Going by that, one can assume that they are the ones who are interested in telling the truth.

Feedback is super important.
2659  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are trading platforms useful? on: June 16, 2022, 01:17:44 PM
Recently, my friend asked me to advise him on platforms that would help newbies to the crypto to start trading and not go at a loss. I haven't worked with such tools and this question baffled me. I started googling and came across several similar projects that help beginners in trading. Among them, the most attractive was the platform from Newscripto. After registration, I was provided with a set of tools that would suit users of any level, regardless of their knowledge. Surprised by the automatic charting tools that help beginners understand the basics of technical analysis, to advanced proprietary indicators for experienced traders. I think it will be much easier for my friend to get involved with this platform, and, to be honest, I think it will be useful for me to use its functions sometimes. Have you used the platform from Newscripto and what do you think about the platform assistants in crypto trading?

Are trading platforms useful? That really depends. Currently, they are very useful. But once decentralization and decentralized technology become better, we will see less and less of centralized trading platforms. Centralization goes against everything blockchain stands for. Its going a step back when everyone else is going a step forward.

But we still need a way to convert our fiat into crypto and a way to trade that crypto. The part where an exchange holds your funds is unnecessary, outdated and ends badly. Always.

The question is how do you make Defi changes for Bitcoin?
2660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Japanese man gambled away a huge Covid-19 relief funds mistakenly sent to him on: June 16, 2022, 12:55:30 PM
Are they definitely sure that he gambled it away? Maybe he was just secretly pocketing the money while saying he was gambling it?
Agree.

If that's the case, telling the authorities that "I gambled it away" at an overseas online casino is a clever way of expressing, "I hid the money in my pocket so that the authorities will have a hard time dealing with the casino in giving my account details since they don't give a shit."

Since the article states that it is an overseas casino, it is clear that it is not legally permitted to operate in Japan, making cooperation with them a waste of time.

Especially with crypto. Personally, I would use Monero to hide my unjustly earned money, if I were him. Although he could have just as well bought Bitcoin, put it on some random wallets and claimed he gambled it away. How is his guilt going to be held up in court unless he proves that he is the owner of said wallets? Or bought altcoins and swap between different tokens whenever he wanted?

And as you said, the legal framework is not going to hold up in any country with contradictory laws.

This story is unrealistic and fishy to me.
